Tonka & Amande

Tonka & Amande absolue is my latest purchase and I am enjoying it very much. I must admit that I do like almond notes in fragrances and this one features almond very strongly. The opening starts with something slightly bitter and sweet, almost like a fruit liqueur or maybe Rum with a good dash of almond. So from the start there is an element of sweetness from the raspberry and licorice but it stays subtle. After 15-20 mins the Tonka becomes more prominent alongside the almond but that slight bitter/dark fruity liqueur is still present somewhere in the background. By this point Tonka & Amande absolue reminds me a little bit of Black perfecto ( la petite robe noire - Guerlain) that same fruity almond licorice vibe but without the leather. The dry down is yummy, simply delicious!!! The almond and Tonka blend seamlessly and together with the raspberry and licorice create a wonderful soft gourmand but not sugary at all. The thing that makes it interesting for me is that this fragrance is very smooth but with a hint of bitterness that elevates it from simple to sophisticated grown-up gourmand. I must say that I do not get any floral at all. Sillage is soft but longevity is excellent on my skin 8+ hours. Eventually way after 8 hours it becomes a soft skin scent with some vanilla joining in.

This is such a cozy, comforting scent. Boozy, nutty, and fruity; smells like amaretto with a tart raspberry accent. There's a bitter element that adds a layer of sophistication, I'm thinking it's that liquorice note. To be honest this gives me a similar impression to Tom Ford's Lost Cherry, if you were to swap the cherry accord for raspberry I imagine it would smell like this... and I actually prefer this over LC performance wise, it maintains that fruity accord throughout the day instead of drying down to a boring vanilla-booze. I love the recyclable packaging, refillable bottle, and affordable price point. Taking one point off for having poor longevity (around 4-5 hours), but that's alright as I mostly enjoy wearing this one on days in as a pick me up :)

This is lovely - a happy blind buy. It's complex and sweet, with just enough wood, citrus and rose to keep it grounded and a little bit gritty. Truly unisex, sits close to the skin, but it's been 7 hours and it's still very much there. Now it's a bright tonka and almond melange, but the layers are still very much there. Beautifully blended and balanced and very wearable. It's yummy enough that I feel the need to eat my wrist, but I'll sniff it instead. A really good buy, and a safe bet for gourmand lovers. A great warming cosy fragrance - I'll be wearing this to bed.

Yet another charming small from this brand. Love the vanilla almond here, sweet but not flat with wonderful framboise hints. There are also some vaguely soapy accords of jasmine and rose that make the scent lighter: it's a good choice for spring, too. Al always the only problem is longevity...

I love this scent, very gentle, yet it makes a statement. The tonka and almond alternate in the beginning, but at one point they merge into a sublime scent.

Delicious vanilla almond! Makes me feel like a butter cookie. It's more almond extract than almond candy, which balances the tonka a bit.

This is a nice, warm fragrance. It smells like a delicious pastry, but the sweetness does not take away from its complexity. I'm usually disappointed in sweeter fragrances, as they tend to smell cheap or be very simple one-note sugary fragrances. But this fragrance avoids this and really stands out against other similar fragrances. I like to wear this on a winter's day with a nice warm sweater and scarf. I imagine that it would be perfect for a date at a cafe on a cold day. It's a strong scent, but not super long-lasting. I like to spray a bit on my clothes to help it last throughout the day. Otherwise, I'll just bring the bottle with me in a purse. Excited to try more from 100BON.

Color me surprised that nobody has mentioned how much this smells like a tootsie roll, because it smells A LOT like said confection. As subtle as a fart in church, but very likeable for its raw and unapologetic candy infused nostalgia. There are times when subtlety and discretion are called for and times when it behoves a body to smell like the olfactory equivalent of a mallet made of marzipan. For the latter, Tonka & Amande Absolue does an admirable job at a very affordable price point.

This smells like a slightly transparent Hypnotic Poison EDP with added raspberry! Tonka, almond, licorice, jasmine, vanilla- Hypnotic Poison EDP. So if you wish this was stronger and didn’t have the raspberry note check out Hypnotic Poison EDP (I think it’s better than the edt) As for Tonka & Amanda Absolue I am surprised! It’s really beautiful! Smoky, almost incense like Tonka and licorice. The raspberry reminds me of Ciara

A sweet bakewell tart experience for me. It's warm, mellow and comforting. However it lasts as long on my skin as a slice of bakewell tart in front of me. Not long at all. Nice though.

Smells like marzipan with raspberry on me. Very yummy. Unfortunately the longevity is quite poor and it does not project very well either. A pity because I really like the scent.

This opens bright, probably from the raspberry, then veers almost toward an amaretto warmth but never actually gets there. I adore almond in all its forms (bitter, powdery, roasted, sweet, floral), but here it feels thin, more of a passing suggestion than the full fat almond. I was hoping for something richer, along the lines of Bois d’Amande or even The Body Shop’s long-lost Amorito RIP (I don't mind re-spraying if there is something worth respraying). Instead, it’s a bit lightweight, missing that bassy depth that almond and tonka can deliver. I don’t dislike it, but it doesn’t hold my interest either, which is disappointing given how much I love both almond and tonka.

Smells like Dr Pepper :) I like mixing it with a fig perfume.

This should be renamed Tonka & Framboise. This is achingly sweet, to the point I can't bear it longer than 20 minutes. The almond peeks out briefly in the opening and is nice while it lasts, but then the raspberry blazes in and drowns it out completely. On my skin this is all super sweet raspberry with a dash of tonka. It's not anything like I expected, I didn't realize it had raspberry in it when I purchased. If you love sweet fruit scents this is probably a winner. Definitely not a safe blind buy. Edit: I just got a sample of Bois Dore and there is no comparison. Bois Dore is caramelly, almondy, Tonka woods. No fruit and incredibly smooth.

I don't get red fruits or flowers. Definite sweet and bitter almond, tonka and liquorice initially. Fades to an almond tonka Musk. Really poor longevity on skin, I sprayed an hour ago and it has almost gone, and clothes not much better so for this reason I think it's overpriced as...what's the point? I could buy pure almond oil for a quid and it would last longer. It smells lovely but it is fleeting. And very sweet. I'm looking for a stronger L'Occitane Amande to compliment my products as that too has no longevity so the search is still on.

I first was familiar with this fragrance during my dive into fragrance during the lockdown. Bought a full size and absolutely loved it! It is sweet and fruity but the boozyiness stops it from getting juvenile with the wood accords making it fuller/richer and less flighty plus a little peppery with the licorice. But I was soooo frustrated with the longevity....it would last like 5 minutes.....okay slight exaggeration more like 15mins!? Anyway fast forward to 2023 and was reminiscing about it.......plus I was on the market for something softer. So I got a newly branded bottle from a discount retailer 🙃 and its yummy goodness is as good as I remember BUT the longevity is so much better! It actually stayed on clothing for over 12 hours which is incredible compared to before! And it has better longevity on skin than my older branded bottle. Now don't expect anywhere near beast mode for this but to be fair I don't feel the composition really lends itself to beast mode. Part of its charm is it softness! So if you want it to last more than 5 mins then get one of newly packaged bottles! And then it's somewhat worth the price!

Finally, the almond I needed to match my all time favorite L'Occitane almond milk concentrate cream and soap. The opening starts with a blast of heavenly tasty Amaretto liquor (bitter and sweet) and it develops into a sweet, but not overly sweet almond cream, the one that chefs put inside of some of the almond croissants, at least this is how this fragrance smells to me. Simple and beautiful. Not heavy at all, it brings me a wonderful feeling aura around. This is a perfect quantity of almonds, just enough, no more, no less. Very light Tonka is the last thing left on skin and it stays there till it turns into a skin scent. All in all, it is a FB worthy one, especially its convenient price tag. NB not very long lasting, though. Still, these are my very first impressions with this fragrance though, need to wear it for a few more full days, in different conditions,when the weather is cooler in September-October to be sure that everything stays the same, before proceeding with a FB purchase.

I realized the sillage is very soft on my skin, so I usually spray this one a bit more on fabric, where it seems to work better. I also ended up realizing I love to spray my bed with this fragrance on autumn and winter nights. To me starts with a powdery sweet almond that appears well blended with the tonka bean when it settles a little.

Tonka and Amande is a cookie. It smells like fluffy vanilla pastry with raspberry jam. It is warm, inviting and sweet-soft. Has some Guerlain vibe in it due to tonka beans, vanilla and citruses, a bit of Shalimar, a bit of La Petite Robe Noire... in that sense it is not exactly unique but it's addictive!

An acidulated red fruit dancing on a sweet almond pastry base. It can be heaven or hell, depending your taste, but I like its character.

VERY powdery sweet. Smells exactly like a licorice cough syrup to the fullest. Does not last at all, gone in 20 seconds. Bad Scent
