American Psycho

Interesting artistic but also very wearable scent. When I think high level blending to me it means both not being able to pick out all individual notes, but also the creation something that does not exist in the world as we know it (and bonus if not found in other fragrances), and that's what they did here. Pine, carnation, and some white florals are present layered over a clean and slightly musky and woody base. The guaiac, amber, and cashmeran arrive later gives it a creamy smooth, balmy texture. So clean and smooth it smells like it could have come from Prada It dawned on me that what I was smelling in the drydown was meant to mimic Bateman's facial routine. It smells like clean cosmetic products but not iris, baby powder or anything of that sort. This is like an expensive face cream. Clean and masculine. It works casually and in an office environment. Clean, professional, and a throwback feel.

This is it! Exactly this. I bought it blind and I’m not disappointed — it’s even better than I expected. Fresh, citrusy, sharp with ginger, some angelica, maybe even a bit of calamus. Not a sweet, tonka-overloaded freshie. Nothing modern from the Sephora shelves. I’d call it a modern classic with a deep dose of niche character. Brilliant to experience, good for every season. It’s a bit like Lux Mona di Orio mixed with a typically masculine barbershop scent. Classic and niche in one. On top of that, it’s very long-lasting and very wearable. I love it!!!

Enjoyed it, but not for me. I can pick up the throwback to the freshies from the era, and then an almost sterile/bleachy undertone crept in for me and stayed hanging in the background. Which definitely matches the brief for a film about a murderous finance bro cleaning up his crime scenes. Super interesting and unique, just not something I could see myself wearing personally

This smells so familiar, like a cleaning product but a very specific one. Nice but not as a perfume; just as a room spray

I nearly lost my mind when I found this perfume in the Shibuya mall on my trip to Japan. American Psycho is one of my favourite novels and films of all time. The perfume is perfect. It is very different from everything else I own and I love it. A soft aquatic that is clean and masculine - but in an ultra-refined and luxurious way. I completely agree with the review below about the expensive face cream scent. It immediately sparks the image of Bateman in the bathroom performing his fabulous skin-care routine. The atomiser creates a superfine mist so you can spray a bunch of this on and it will just softly envelope you in this beautiful fresh scent cloud. I don’t think this projects at all, but that is not what is trying to achieve. An incredible everyday perfume.

At first it struck me as intensely masculine. My sister called it “man shower” and we agreed the perfume was more a homage to the infamous morning routine than anything else. However the floral notes come together to form the undercurrent of a slightly more feminine scent profile. Those flowers are getting old and kind of wilted. It smells like hairspray too which is of course very 80s. Bateman himself does not smell like this, his world does.

Very interesting scent, smells to me like hairspray (must be the floral notes) and the smell of that rotating hot dog machine in convenience stores.
