Female Christ

ok so this is what i wrote on the morning after testing this: "Ok so it opens up VERY SWEET, almost feminine, kind of syrupy and cloying, the kind of sweetness that reminds you of honey or molasses. i've heard many people describe the opening as patchouli-heavy and that if you wanna smell this without sampling, you can buy a small bottle of patchouli oil. I did that and it's definitely different. Straight-up patchouli is bity, medicinal, and dry, and the opening definitely isnt that. probably the patchouli is so well-mixed with the other ingredients, it just becomes a sugary mass (not unpleasant though). then, the eucalyptus and the pimento kick in, giving this a very slight cooling effect (i read somewhere that the chilling feeling is added to mimick the feeling of nakedness, similar to both Christ and the woman who performed Female Christ). the coldness doesn't last long though, as the sweetness swings back in full force, this time accompanied by WOODS. here, i definitely understand where people draw the "rotting church/rotting wood" comparisons, it is pretty photorealistically that. some friends who have smelled this on me said that it reminds them of church and sunday mass (we're all orthodox), and i don't really get that, though i understand the vibe. as it finally dries down on my skin, the cashmere wood takes over and it becomes a very beautiful, wearable, wood scent. not evil nor hippie (like many others have described this scent), just subtle, slightly strange and overall gorgeous. two puffs of this are enough to fill a room, it's very strong. wear with caution

i was immediately hooked when i found out about this perfume. as a girl who grew up in a very religious christian household, i knew i needed this for my religious trauma LOL. i got a sample, and i can say with confidence that i will be buying the full size bottle. i am in love with this scent, i'll go as far as to say it's the best thing i've smelled. i've always leaned towards more woodsy, earthy scents, and this is everything i didn't know i was looking for. but i will say, if you're not too big on patchouli, this won't be for you. the patchouli note is very strong on opening, and it also has a sterile, clean feel to it. the tad of spice is a very nice touch, in my opinion. definitely can see how it's described as an old church. it definitely brings me back. it smells and feels warm, sexy. i was worried it might come off as grandma, as i've gotten comments like that with my more "unconventional" scents (usually the "b&bw and ariana grande cloud and nothing else" crowd), but i have received compliments on it, and my man likes it too which is always a plus haha. this sht got me feeling like i'm the daughter of a preacher planning my escape with my piece of trash boyfriend in the church basement after a huge fight with my parents. perfect for fall and winter months. absolutely obsessed.

I actually blind bought this, which was risky based on some of the reviews on here. Lucky for me this fragrance rocks and was exactly what I didn't know I needed. Upon first sniff I was immediately thrown back to when I used to sniff the Nemat amber oil and Kuumba made oils in the beauty and wellness section of Whole Foods (I'm not sure if wf still carries oils this was pre Bezos) while my mom shopped for organic produce. So there's this hippy whole foods mom vibe that is definitely more present during the dry down, like at the end of the day all I can smell is the amber. Honestly, I don't really get the church/mass vibe that other reviewers have mentioned. Maybe because I'm not Christian so to me the smoke in this doesn't smell "incencey" to me like a middle eastern style of incense would. To me, this smells like a whole foods mom with a little weird edgyness. Like someone who religiously buys organic produce and does a lot of coke. I could imagine that the sharp herbal/medicinal smell at the beginning that kind of assaults your nostrils at the beginning would feel like the stinging sharpness of snorting coke.... I could imagine!

Female Christ reminds me so much of my great grandfathers home in a way that has been concerning me since I smelled it. The opening is so wet. Soaks into your skin and sort of gives off a mildewy, poorly ventilated, stuffy bedroom with wood paneling vibe. I'm also shocked at how few reviewers are getting a chocolate note. That is what grabbed me first and what remains after a while on the skin. Not sure how many people will resonate with this but I once tried a chili flavored chocolate (and didn't love it) and that is what the base of this fragrance smells like. It's rich and thick and really sits in the middle of your throat like spice. There is an old resinous, maybe lacquered, wood somewhere in there and, despite the dampness just soaking this fragrance, feels a little dusty. The longer it dries the more I feel like I'm sitting among the pews in an abandoned church on a hot afternoon in the deep south. It does not radiate much and doesn't last nearly long enough for my liking. Though I do really love it. It's very unique. Feels dirty and fun in an interestingly vile way. I'd easily be tempted into a full bottle.

First off, let me tell you how you're supposed to wear this perfume: you layer it over one of those perfumes that last like 3 days. On the second day when it's a little faded, a little dirty (like on a jacket a scarf a sweater jeans, things you don't wash right away), you use this and idk what magic happens to make it work, but it works, it's at pique an hour in. You'll totally change your mind about this perfume, I promise. You could actually apply this to anything that's very patchouli forward. Also: this perfume smells exactly like my favorite aunt, all it needs is a little second hand cigarette smoke and a grape Powerade note and it'd be complete 😂 she loves her patchouli. Female Christ even has an Aussie Hairspray note (she always used to use Aussie)! It's a truly unique perfume, and close to my heart.
