An Excess of Carelessness

"*They were careless people, Tom and Daisy—they smashed up things and . . . then retreated back into their money . . . and let other people clean up the mess they had made*" As the note from the perfume wizards at Team Tuesdays says: this was to created for a shindig to commentate the centenary of the The Great Gatsby ( I go to all the wrong parties !) . Because they wanted to be faithful to that period, only ingredients available and in use back in The Roaring Twenties were used. This has inevitably produced a scent that doesn't exactly roar but doesn't whimper, either. It IS subtle, a whisper ( very unDaisy like really !) but that shouldn't mean it's underestimated. Soft things can still make an impression and close, personal fragrances last longer than a fling ( or a Gin Sling ). It COULD be Guerlain, it has elements of L'heure and Apres, in that iris and heliotrope giving a fluffy powdery iris/violet note with that obvious vanillin of Shalimar. If anyone knows the vintage cologne versions ( not the current EDPs etc ) they will get it more. The expression "skin scent" is often used to describe a light, body spray, gone in 60 minutes and not worth having. This isn't that. It sits close to the person but outstays the brash mayflies. It's a beautiful woman, in a simple frock, watching the party unfold, no need to be the centre of attention as all eyes will turn to her, regardless. Also, don't take the pyramid too literally. If you think vanilla equals cupcake, don't bother. This is far more subtle and sophisticated. It's a vintage style scent after all. That glorious time before we'd ever heard the word "gourmand". If you LIKE them, Team Tuesdays have some great offerings. If like me, you can't think of anything worse, STILL try this. This isn't icing sugar, it's the powder that's Daisy applied with a swam down puff.

This perfume is very weak and doesn’t have the pizazz of Gatsby. Very disappointing that this doesn’t live up to its name. The fragrance itself is a mixture of woody and aromatic notes. This skin scent lasts around 30 minutes.
