Burnt Cedar Rainbow Doves

I absolutely adore this perfume. Mysterious, playful, woodsy, and warm - sweet but not an innocent fragrance. It has so much depth, and truly evolves while it’s on your skin. When I wear it, I like where it takes me. I can picture myself in my car, windows down, driving through a canopy of trees, smoke on my clothes from a bonfire, fresh roses sitting shotgun, and I’m headed to a bed with clean sheets / a down comforter. I just wish I could find somewhere that ships it to the US :(

Princess cake. The really expensive, perfectly made kind from a patisserie that has queues on Sunday. Princess cake eaten outside by a group of bright young things, who eat with their fingers, are good friends, and sometimes lovers. Really enjoyed wearing this.

My god, this literally smells like hot leg wax. I'm not kidding, it took me back to being a kid and seeing my mom heat up wax on the stove in its metal tin. The effect of the smoke and cedar is incredibly uncanny. I did not care for it, so I took it off after about 30 minutes.

4160 Tuesdays' fragrances are utterly extraordinary and amazing: the more I have tried, the more I realise the ones I love are among my most loved perfumes ever; the ones I dislike, I REALLY dislike. I'm afraid this falls into the latter category. As it comes out of the bottle, I get all the gourmand notes listed. Unfortunately after a few minutes it changes drastically, and all I can smell is a very artificial, choking, and utterly nauseating note. I don't know exactly what it is, but I'm guessing white musk of some sort. Whatever it is, it's exactly the same note that's in most of the newer Hermes fragrances; and I'm afraid is my most hated note in modern perfumes. On someone else the balance of notes might be completely different, but for me it's not a fragrance I ever want to smell again; in complete contrast to many other 4160 Tuesdays' perfumes, which are among my all-time favourites.

It opens up unabashedly green, smoky and woody, but very quickly morphs into a delicate powdered sexual skin note, like something Marlou would sell. A soft gentle musk, powdered skin, with a very small hint of lust. The image this conjures for me is the tale of two illicit lovers sneaking away through the dark dank overgrowth at the edges of a garden estate, finding a quiet place in a hidden garden for your secret liaisons. All I can say is don't judge this by it's opening. This is a powdered gentle sweet scent of skin type fragrance through and through.
