Butterlily Damselfly

This is a really lovely hay-based scent. It starts off as very floral but after an hour or so on the skin it settles into a warm hay scent that lasts a long time. A little floral still, so more like an idealised scent of a wildflower meadow than overly realistic just-rubbed-grass-on-my-face smell. The scent profile is simple so you can really enjoy the hay scent without it being too confused. Very summery and mellow.

i’d been imagining how this would smell ever since i set eyes on the description given on the website. i must say it’s far more amazing and intricate than anything my understanding of the notes could even begin to conjure up! this is just a huge hug of grass and greens whilst having an element of flowers submerged in morning dew and morning showers. it’s a 100000/10 for me

i was lured into buying this by the wonderful inspiration behind it. swimming into the middle of a lake to smell waterlilies, with damselflies buzzing around.... magical. i’m a sucker for minimalist note profiles too, especially ones that contain skin, grass and water. yummmmy but i have to say i’m a tiny bit disappointed by it. it has a slight aftershave quality to it; like that generic scent that a lot of men’s hygiene products smell like. i wasn’t expecting that at all. but apart from that it is very fresh and alive . i think it would be really fitting to wear in spring, when new life is unfolding and gentle sunlight makes the morning dew sparkle. when perfumes contain hay, they often depict the coarse, dry, brown hay. but the hay in this perfume is damp and green. hay and grass are most prominent here. i’m not picking up on any beeswax, but i do get some oak. again, not coarse, dry wood, but fresh and sprouting with new leaves. all in all it’s a vivaciously green, slightly botanical, very dewy fragrance. it has intimate sillage and average longevity, but leaves a nice skin scent after many hours of wear. will i be repurchasing it? i dont think so. i dont adore it, but it’s nice.

This brings me back to childhood instantly. My mom described the smell of ants when your hand would crush them on the pavement and I vividly remember a moment playing outside and my hand crushing some ants on the pavement as I did a cartwheel. I briskly wiped them off and then the smell left was exactly this smell. I’ve been trying to find a fragrance that captured this beautiful scent perfectly and here it is. It definitely smells like hay but I get a sharp earth smell as well. Almost petrichor like but it may just be the hay, it kind of reminds me of the smell of horse breath as well. With wet earth. It’s beautiful. One of my signature summer scents

Papery, buttery aftershave, with floral notes, and a hint of bryll cream??? Really interesting mix of sweet and cool green notes. Definitely evokes hot summer days by a pond, sunlight sparkling off the water. However, the overall effect is far too masculine for me to wear.

Photorealistic, a warm day in the dry grass with floral notes carried by the breeze. I agree it's like a scent memory but it smells fantastic as a perfume too. The latest creations by Sarah McCartney are outstanding.
