Doe In The Snow

I`m a Michigan native so when I tell you this perfume has an insanely realistic snow accord... just trust me. Doe in the Snow flooded my psyche with vivid memories of shoveling dirty wet snow. I almost threw down the vial, screamed and hid under my bed.I live in Florida now and intend to steer clear of the flat, grey, hell they call the north. That was my impression from zero minus 30 seconds via a minuscule wrist swipe courtesy of my Lucky Scent tester vial. In about a minute I recognize the Chanel Christalle bubbly citrus vibe. Christalle may well have had too much of said bubbly and thought it best she spend the night over at THE IMAGINARY AUTHOR`S house.Yes you heard me.I detect just a smidgen of that unmistakable I.A. musty DNA.But where they down the entire bottle of that musty, unwearable in public places,i`m so damn niche, molecule, Doe in the Snow simply takes a shot.Thank you,I am very much into this good girl gone bad, or perhaps good girl gone niche.I`m going to take her home to live with me in Florida where we can just chill. P.S.Dry down is a sublime mix of white woods and bright leather with a nondescript floral I interpret as clover.Longevity is okay but projection is wanting.I think Tuesdays was just being nice and inclusive when they labeled Doe unisex.Note they did not call this buck in the snow.

I love this scent. My review is based on the EDP. In brief: a seductive yet playful, light yet complex, modern and intimate scent. Intimate because it doesn't blast everyone around you. It can only be noticed with any detail if somebody is standing very close to me. Peach notes stand out and blend well with the rose and cedar for me. I don't get much citrus at all. The cedar gives a subtle sharpness and bitterness to the sweet top notes and florals. These two aspects are enveloped by a soft yet lingering glamorous warm depth - the opoponax and oakmoss and leather, I think - that makes this a winner for me. This perfume is a glamorous balance of soft fruits, alluring florals (rose and jasmine are the heady yet powdery best of the florals for me), and a subtle, sensuous basenote warmth. And, importantly, it's obviously a quality concoction made of certainly at least some superior grade ingredients. No cheap synthetic thinness or chemical harshness here. Doe in the Snow is an autumnal and winter scent, I think it would feel too heavy and rich for a very warm day. I live in Scotland, where Spring is a cold season - yet sunny - and I think Doe in the Snow works well in a Scottish Spring, adding a touch of sparkling, intimate complexity to these cold, hard windy yet sunny days.

Doe in the Snow is, again, nothing like I was expecting but boy is it aldehydic. The mix of oakmoss and aldehydes reminds me a little of 31 Rue Cambon by Chanel (the jasmine also probably doesn't help with this) Both have a very elegant, but Doe in the Snow has a slightly menthol/camphor feel to it. This might be the green tea/grapefruit combination. People on fragrantica have voted Green Tea to be one of the less obvious notes but I like to think I'm good at detecting the note. Overall, it's really just a very beautiful fragrance. I want to call it a chypre, but I don't think that's quite correct - the presence of oakmoss doesn't necessarily qualify it as such. I don't know if 'snow' was the idea to smell, but I can honestly understand it if it were. It's very sparkly and beautiful in the nose. It's just the bee's knees... I gotta say. This is what an evening on the chilly town smells like, which is ironic because it seems to be working absolutely stunningly in the spring time. I would 100% buy this if I had the money to. I totally purchased a 30mL bottle

This is an amazing fragrance. When I first tested it I was not sure but Ive since learnt you have to test at least three times for an accurate assessment. Preferably test in both warm and cool conditions. Heck, over time I have learnt a lot more about how to approach a new fragrance. Its now one of my go to fragrances in warm weather. So fresh and icy cool with a fizziness that makes me think of refresher sweets. The first time the oppopanax didnt like my chemistry but now its fine. This fragrance is definitely at its best in warm weather for me. The citrus notes and oakmoss dominate but within the first hour the oppopanax, fruit and leather notes appear. It has a definitely sweetness on the drydown and thats where it remains until it fades away. The oppopanax is the last note to wain. I think its unisex but the sweetness for me makes it nudge more over to the feminine. The sillage hovers between skin scent and moderate. The longevity is very long.

I am a fan of 4160T, I have a number and I love the ones I have. I got this yesterday along with Goodbye Piccadilly. I am wearing it today and I am swooning. It's a truly gorgeous fruity chypre in a similar vein to Chanel Christelle (although the smell different they do share some characteristics). It opens with a fizzy citrus/fuzzy ripe peach blast that quickly subsides and then it unfolds into a lovely mouth-wateringly gorgeous classic chypre, this has (happily) a good dollop of oakmoss – I love oakmoss and a breathy hint of leather but more than that, it’s completely addictive. I love chypres, they are one of my favourite, if not THE favourite family of fragrances. This is just a complete delight. For anyone looking for a modern interpretation of a great classic chypre this is it. Sarah and her team are gifted and consistently delivering the goods. I only wish they did bigger bottles. Big love for this.

This is a truly beautiful fruity chypre (with the prettiest name!). Complex, incredibly sexy and my absolute favourite cold-weather fragrance. I get peaches, lemon, aldehydes, straight-out-of-the-freezer-ice and a big blast of cold winter air at first, then something green (fir? pine?) and a decent dollop of oakmoss on the dry down. Its an endless bag of treats. Good slilage and serious longevity (sniffing my wrist the morning after the night before its still clear to even my weak nose). 4160 Tuesdays is such a fabulous discovery! EDIT: I havent worn this since last winter. Just spritzed my wrists this evening and had forgotten how truly beautiful this is. Aldehyde heaven, with the most delectable oak moss and citron dry down. Class.

Strangely lovely. Floral, and clean but not in that appalling cleanly-scrubbed way. It's... PURE, rather than CLEAN, which means that it has neither any of the virginal pursed-lips spinster aunt cleanliness, nor the American showered within inch of your life (and probably douched) vibe. It smells its best on my leather-wristband-wearing hand. I'm really starting to like Sarah McCartney's take on florals (as opposed to her red fruits, but then maybe I just don't like red fruits in fragrance as such), and I am starting to contemplate this as an alternative to my wishlist-inclusion of Flora Psychedelica.

Reading some of the reviews here makes me wonder if I ended up purchasing the wrong bottle. My initial thought about this fragrance was, "This is what a stale perfume smells like." There's no usual initial hint of acidity, even though it has three citruses listed in its top notes. It skips the tartness, and goes directly to a powdery, woody, leathery scent. The fragrance does invoke something wintery, but the lack of the initial citrus greetings takes some getting used to. I have grown to like this one, but was almost tempted to give it away.

Oh my,I love this from the first...this one is special. This is borne on a Christmas Eve, under the moonlight, a baby fawn just out of it's mother's womb. The moon is full light casting blue shadows snow lightly falling delicate flakes each one unique on the nose of the new born... Pure fresh Christmas morning air stillness not a sound blanketed with drifts of snow that is Doe In The Snow... pure white innocence...velvet petals so delicate under the driven snow...I have seen this in a dream... Another love... I get it...

I am a sucker for a fruity chypre, so I was probably always going to like this, but it's one of my favourites of the 4160 Tuesdays range. It starts fizzy and citrusy, but never in a less than smooth way. It really comes into itself as it dries down and the warm woods, moss and leather come out as well. It's almost like it moves through temperatures from cool to warm as it develops. Projection is gentle (though certainly more than a skin scent) and lasts for several hours.

Chypre and floral! bright floral scent, with powerful note of oakmoss balanced beautifully with the other notes. I hear a timid rose in the background,grapefruit and aldehydes are very well pronounced! particular parfum and sophisticated, unisex! my favorite part is the drydown... there as a "cold" transparency that surrounds ...like the name "in the snow" :) I like it! Sillage: 7./10 Longevity: 7.5/10 Scent: 8.5/10 Overall: 8.5/10

As with other posters it’s not what I expected at all I don’t really see this as a winter scent...more spring/summer It’s a very citrus first blast I can’t smell ANY rose at all It’s a lovely scent - I’m just not sure it’s what it says it is if you see what I mean? My very glamorous aunt would have loved this - she wore Estée Lauder Estée and I do smell similarities

Doe in Snow is a lovely, soft, cool oakmoss that would be very wearable in any season. Totally unisex. Natural and outdoorsy, green, not overwhelming at all. Stays close to the body. A breath of fresh air in a sea of fruity florals and gourmands. Full bottle worthy for me, and might even make my "Old Shoe" list.

looove this perfume. bought it as a sample and will probably purchase the full bottle in the future. however, definitely agree that it's not as cold as expected, it's very citrusy but i get a good mossy note as well that helps cool it down.

Ohhhh I wanted to love this. I thought I did at first but it’s a bit different than what I thought. The citrus notes are so bright and pretty in the opening. The rose has a strong powdery presence that sticks around through the life of the scent. The peach and aldehydes give it a nice “snow” scent that’s very refreshing. Paired with the moss, it feels like a forest in the middle of winter. I totally envision this “Doe in the Snow” visual, as it’s very youthful, fresh, and inviting. I think I wanted to smell the woods more and this is leaning too heavily into a citrus powder profile for me. It’s very likable and different! Not a safe blind buy though. Definitely sample! Side comparison note, I also own Orpheon EDP from diptyque which is a very similar scent vibe to this but I much prefer that scent. With that in mind, these ARE very different. But if you want something like Orpheon, give this a try! (It also is a much more approachable price point!)

The idea of this is irresistible to me and the opening sniffs are really lovely - there is definitely something reminiscent of Mitsouko in the peachy chypre opening, but something in maybe the tea and citrus notes keep it brighter and more 'modern' I suppose, the aldehydes are really pleasantly fresh and wintery without having the dated quality of classic aldehydic scents (which I should point out I do love!). After the lovely crisp opening it stays fruity but the woods, dirty jasmine note and wet oakmoss give it a bit of an earthy 'forest floor' kind of scent, and then unfortunately it just about disappears altogether, to just a whisper of a pleasant fruity chypre if I really press my nose to my wrist. I do agree with 4160's copy about it being suitable for all seasons, and it'd be a love for me if it had any more lasting power.

I'm going to start by saying that "Doe In The Snow" is probably one of the loveliest names there are in perfumery. What a beautiful image! Although the name suggests a winter fragrance, I actually think this scent is suitable for all seasons. I am wearing it right now, on a warm, pleasant day in June and it smells beautiful. It makes me think of a stroll through the British countryside, the sun's light speckling through the trees and morning dew on the forest floor. I'm not sure how it got so many dislikes, as it's a very pleasant citrussy chypre type scent, definitely not offensive at all. Even with the aldehydes which many people find unappealing. It's light, bright, sparkly and somehow, (as odd as it may seem to describe a perfume this way), smiley! I really like it!

I blind bought. This is not something I would have bought with prior testing but now that I have it I need to appreciate it :) Well it's nice but not as mossy + aldehydes as expected. I was expecting a colder and distant fragrance. I do smell some "coldness" but I can smell a lot of citruses at the same time. So this is kind of weird because you're not sure what you're smelling. Dry down is clean linen, some woody accord and some distant citruses. It's nice in my opinion but not groundbreaking, unlike other offerings from the brands. And longevity is poor compared to other 4160 Tuesdays releases (which last on my skin forever). So, try first. But if you're looking for a "colder" citrus perfume that might a good choice.

Despite favoring warm-weather-leaning notes, 4160 Tuesdays Doe in the Snow does foster a certain crisp, sharp result that transports me to winter rather than summer, a sort of icy freshness that one usually equates with mint but in DITS it's achieved via a peculiar mix of citrus, peach, mixed florals, oak, green tea, and even leather. With the peach and jasmine coming out a lot on my skin, it comes off a bit feminine, but I still like it. Performance is decent and at $90 for 50ml, it's on the lower end of 4160 Tuesdays' pricing. A nice scent that I'm not quite sure is for me but I'd recommend trying nonetheless as it's mostly pretty agreeable and versatile. 7 out of 10

I don't get much of an impression of ice or snow. This is summer citrus all the way for me. Refreshing! Nice, sharp, bitter grapefruit is totally joyful, and the citron makes for an underripe lemon. The peachiness adds a sherbet-like deliciousness. The oakmoss and woods are subtle. Blended with aldehydes, opoponax and tea it gives a little bit of a spongy, musky anchor. Combined with the citrus, every now and then I feel a little odd sourdough peeking in and out. Doe in The Snow is a happy perfume. This one to reach for when in need of thirst-quenching revitalization.

this is sooooo delicate. the peachy fruity top notes are similar to the intensity of flavor in the peach pear lacroix. as it dries it def starts to smell very clean, i am still broadening my scent sensitivities so i imagine that it’s the aldehyde?? anyways, like i said, very delicate, very close to the body smell, lasts maybeeee 4 hours. it’s very yummy. i would def not blind buy and i'm glad I've been able to spend time with the tester I have. the name is very appropriate

Dryer sheets that perhaps have been on the shelf a long time, softly fruity aldehydes with just a tinge of what others have described as a stale quality.

On paper, this should be right up my street: citrusy-florally...stuff. But, my chemistry doesn't agree and is having a bitter argument with it. Perhaps it's just a bit too heavy on the citrus? A little more leather or oakmoss might do the trick. I can't spot any peach or rose at all. Hmm. Projection is quite low-key, which is fine for me. Longevity? Not sure yet; I've been wearing it for a couple of hours but I'm anticipating the lower end of "moderate", perhaps the 4hr mark. If your chemistry agrees, I think you'll really enjoy it and receive lots of compliments. Definitely a try before you buy, IMHO.

i wanted to like this so bad but it just does not work with my body chemistry.... smells like cool, minty mr. clean on me which is not a particularly repugnant scent, at least, but it definitely wasn't what i was wanting this perfume to be either. i do not get any moss, cedar, or aldehydes coming through on this, just cold citrus and a lot of mint with a very mild soapy floral finish. longevity and sillage was nice, not too weak or too cloyingly strong. that's about the only positive thing i have to say about this scent, unfortunately. quite disappointing overall :(

This smells so stale, like a thrift store, dryer sheets, or lemon moth balls. I was expecting something fresh and crisp with some earth and moss. But I get none of it, at best it smells like cold tea and at worst it smells like all-purpose cleaning wipes. Glad this was just a sample I didn't put too much hope into.

This just makes me think of cleanliness, Amalfi lemons, powder, vanilla and woodsy. It like going to a hot country, you're knackered from all the sightseeing, the insects, the heat, you have a shower, as you have seen that your 48hr extreme anti-perspirant deodorant is not really cutting the mustard! You step into the shower, where it's so insanely hot you have to have a cold shower. You come out into your hotel room, which has old wooden floors, the maid has left you a floral bouquet and you pour a chilled cocktail daiquiri, you have the over head fan going at full pelt and you sit down on a leather Chesterfield Chaise Lounge and think oh the pleasures of life, I feel so clean and I am in my comfort zone, an element of sharpening your pencil with the leather, the cedar wood, the florals, and you start to write...Dear Uncle....your nephew Phileas Fog. Write time for a nap as thunder clouds gather...

I have been eyeing this for a while and finally got a sample. I was worried that it might feel too sour or austere but it is lovely. Nexangelus nails this - it does smell like opening the freezer (and leaning in for a peach-flavoured sorbet) - I don't know how they acheive that frozen effect! The florals, citrus and green notes are well-blended, and I wouldn't call this a green scent despite its freshnes. I find the peach very prominent, and it has a nod to Mitsouko. It has a strong musky note along with the oakmoss in the drydown, which makes it feel retro rather than vintage (and which makes it more wearable for me). I like the evolution in this scent and it throws up surprising shades and notes throughout the day. (It's a case of thinking: what is that great smell? oh, it's me!). It is probably naughty, but I have layered this with Feminité du Bois, which worked well. I recommend this one.

Im really interested to hear the reviews saying they feel like this is a nice scent for summer...I shall have to dig out my bottle again, as this was my perfect winter scent and has been abandoned in favour of the raspberry/violet fizziness of 4160 Tuesdays Tokyo Spring Blossom (LOVE) since the sun came out. To me, Doe in the Snow is a cold, crisp January day. Its the Snow Queen from Narnia draped in white fur (that really IS the image that comes to me). The aldehyde-ey 'ice' scent hits you immediately, but it drys down into something a little bit citrus, quite peachy and decidedly green. There is absolutely nothing sickly or sweet about this perfume. It's a true, bold, retro chypre that lasts beautifully and just gets better as the day wears on. Intrigued about using this on a hot day now!

This is a really great scent. It's definitely not my typical fragrance, but it impresses me nonetheless. It's mainly a sharp citrus on me, but the citrus is tempered with this quality that makes it feel ancient. The oakmoss and leather really gives it the fruit equivalent of a dusty old book. I don't know if that sounds appealing to anyone else, but trust me when I say it's quite interesting if nothing else. It's also entirely unisex! I would call this delightfully sophisticated and unique, and absolutely worth trying.

This one unfolded pretty quickly. After two and a half hours, I’m already into the papery-woody-dry dry down. The opening was aldehydic fresh laundry. I can see how it does have a sort of cold ozonic nuance, but I was hoping for even more of that crispy cold smell that lingers on your skin after actually being outside in the snow. Overall, I like it but I don’t need it. It’s nice, and a little interesting. I notice the aldehydes, oak moss, and nondescript citrus the most. Sits close to the skin. 7/10

I don't think anyone else has mentioned it, and it doesn't appear in the notes, but I swear I get Parma violet in the top notes. Unfortunately, this disappears very rapidly from my skin. It has virtually gone before the heart or base notes show up and at the end of the day, if I really inhale hard there is maybe just a ghost of something powdery and floral left on my wrist.

One thing about all these fragrances is that they use component ingrdients that go rancid withing a few months. I had to throw £3000 worth of frags as they had gone off, I keep them in a dark and cool room aswell and in thier original boxes too! Yet cheaper frags will stay 95% true even several years after buying them.

This is quite nice, although it's not really my bag. Clean laundry opening transitions to woods and oakmoss. Aldehydes make it a bit bright. I didn't detect the fruit notes until I read that they are in there...not really fruity to me.

Seductive like old fashioned perfumes but,at the same time,very innovative.I wear it this morning,it makes me dream.Really.
