Drive Them Wild

I was a bit shocked at how sweet this one was on the first hit, but this soon gave way to a blend of florals and zingy chypre that, in turn, gave way to a warm musky, animalic undertone that dominates, infused in a powdery glow. There is something classic and old fashioned about it— a suitable nod to Hollywood glamour if it is inspired by Dolores del Rio as some mention. The floral, musky notes and the soft, warm powdery finish in this juice are very reminiscent of women's perfumes from the 1930s and it might be this that makes me think it definitely leans more feminine than masculine, but you decide for yourselves. For those who like something with a very classic feel of sophistication, this is a perfect option.

I really enjoy this perfume but it doesn’t last long enough for me to invest in a full bottle. It kicks off with a blast of peppery orange fruit, then it settles into (what I’ll describe as) a warm vanilla Chypre. It’s lovely but it’s quiet. I’d love for it to be amplified somehow.

For some reason, this page doesn't list all the notes in this fragrance and misses some of the most prominent. Here's what the 4160 Tuesdays website has to say about this perfume - and before you ask, I don't work for them, I'm not on some form of commission from them - in fact, there is no connection between 4160 Tuesdays and me at all. Anyway, here is how they describe Drive Them Wild: "Blood orange, red mandarin, osmanthus and orange blossom dance around a chypre heart, with vanilla, tonka and cocoa absolutes spiced with black pepper." Drive Them Wild was just too gourmand and sweet for my taste. It starts out with sweeten, lemon meringue pie citrus top notes and when the vanilla, tonka bean and cocoa kick in, it's like you tripped up in a restaurant and fell into the dessert trolley - and that will be why some people will absolutely adore this perfume. It was the mention of the chypre heart that attracted me to this scent, but I couldn't detect the chypre at all. Never mind - so many other perfumes to try, so little time.
