Eau My Soul

My first try from the house of 4160 Tuesdays comes as the result of this fragrance, Eau My Soul, being created for the Facebook group of the same name, of which perfumer Sarah McCartney is an admin, and which is run by Christi Long. It came as the result of suggestions and voting for various notes, hence the long list of notes that ended up being included, which is quite the feat. EMS is sweet throughout, and generally pretty boozy as well. Vanilla and cognac seem to be there from opening to dry down. As with many fragrance, it opens a bit sharper and fresh, with what I figure to be the bergamot and lavender, followed by a heart of tobacco and sandalwood, and a base of benzoin, tonka, and incense, with perhaps even another burst of vanilla. Flat out, this is superb stuff. Vanilla remains the comforter extraordinaire, and it is, for me, the definitively sweetest aroma, and it works as a good bandleader in this mix that goes from a fresh opening to a creamy dry down. Cognac provides a booziness throughout, while benzoin secures the creamy dry down with the tonka adding just a hint of powder to the mix. I'm sure there are notes I'm neglecting, but I can't imagine my olfactory abilities are sufficient to keep of more than a small handful of notes at a time. For example, I'm no doubt omitting some of the floral contributors (other than lavender) that assist. Performance is fantastic, a fairly loud projector for an hour or two followed by at least some hours of above average projection, and a strong lingering effect on the skin. I'd certainly peg this as a more of a cold weather scent, but I wouldn't have any problem wearing it on a summer evening, which perhaps says more about me than the scent, but I'll leave it at that. Gender-wise, it might fall into what some men regard as a feminine or perhaps even "old lady" scent but this is surely wholly unisex, the only caveat being that it may turn off those people who are wholly appalled by sweet scents. Apart from that, it's agreeable with respect to season, gender, and also occasion, as it's comforting and relaxing but sophisticated enough to dress up. 9 out of 10

Eau My Soul by 4160 Tuesdays I just want to say how special this fragrance is to me, in more ways than one. From the incredible scent right down to how it all came about, with all the notes chosen by the wonderful members of our Facebook group "Eau My Soul". And it could not have turned out more beautifully. It starts off with an eye opening almost effervescent cognac that brings on a "wow!", then it turns warm and cozy and despite the way the notes might sound, it's airy and there is an almost ethereal quality to it. It's full bodied yet breezy. It's an all occasion and all season fragrance with a casual feel. But it's also.....sexy! Yes, it's our "warm group hug" (as we have nicknamed it) but this is not just a friend zoned hug! Oh, no. ;) Yes, it's friendly, and yes, it's comforting, but it's also quietly seductive in a warm and friendly way. Despite the heavy sounding notes, Eau My Soul has a weightless feel, it is light on its toes like Fred Astaire, dancing about the air around you. But staying close, inviting others to come closer. Like something you would share with someone special, like during a hug. I don't think a "hug" screams "loud", a hug is more cozy. And Eau My Soul is just that, ever present yet unobtrusive. The sandalwood is obviously high quality, super smooth and gently purrs. I also get a noticeable amount of cognac, it's very present but still soft and subtle. Doesn't scream "boozy". The incense is soft and clean and inviting. The entire fragrance is about subtlety and warmth. There is a bit of a gourmand feel to it, like a warm background of vanilla pudding. I get some musk, labdanum and plenty of resins and all things golden and cozy. Eau My Soul not only comes in a gold bottle, it smells golden as well. Eau My Soul is not about slapping someone with a scent cloud or sillage or anything "beast mode", it's about inviting them in closer, something to share with a special friend. Or a more than friend. Like a hug. Eau My Soul is warm, comforting and easy going...just as any friendship should be. And it was made with the same ingredients: heart, soul, warmth, togetherness and love.

Eau My Soul is a golden treasure, a niche fragrance for the perfume obsessed. The notes listed do very little to describe what you will actually smell. To me, it smells of honeyed tobacco with a lot of sweet, boozey reduction drizzled atop. There's a semi-screechy, but still pleasant leather in there too... the labdanum, if it is what I'm smelling, also seems a tad screechy, but that pleasantly counter-acts the softness and, perhaps, overly warm resins that persist from top to bottom. The sandalwood is a dream and probably the standout note for me, effortlessly beautiful and meticulously blended. I wish I detected the tuberose more, but it does seem to fade in and out very softly. The rose is definitely there, perhaps closer to the base where everything quietens and you can detect more notes. Like many of Sarah's scents, the notes become much more noticeable all at once. Or, at least, they come out in stages as everything dies down. I know many scents do this, but it's a very distinct pattern for the majority of her scents. Lavender doesn't present itself to me every time, but when it does it reminds me a lot of many lavender/vanilla fragrances out there. Not a bad thing. All in all, I get this more now than I did last year when I got it. It's been a cool ride. This is one of the most comforting fragrances that has ever touched my skin. I remember when the polling process began before the scent was announced and I was voting left, right and centre because I had no idea what was going to happen. I remember that some of the notes I voted for had won by just a single, or few votes. It was so important and fun, leading to how this smelt. Every single person who voted contributed to fragrance history. It sounds grandiose, but it's true. It's magical, and feels all the more exclusive. I'm wearing what myself, and other friends had voted on and it feels so bespoke. This feeling is incomporable, second (probably) only to wearing your own private bespoke scent, or your own creation. Love the fragrance, still love the group and love the brand. A real stand out.

Having over 700 FBs of perfume means it can be difficult to choose which to wear. Perfume has a profound impact on my mood; if I need to be tough and project a "don't mess with me" image, I may choose Habanita, Galaad, or Serge Noire... other days I feel carefree, I'll choose SJP NYC Crush, YSL Black Opium or Penhaligon's Night Scented Stock. Businesslike and professional? Elixir des Merveilles, Karan Black Cashmere, or Cartier Baiser du Dragon. On the (increasingly!) rare occasion, I need something sexy or seductive - a femme fatale - I may go for Mugler Angel, Fan di Fendi EDP, or Lolita Lempicka. There are very few scents which support multiple facets of my character, but Eau My Soul undoubtedly does. This is likely due to the array of notes which "should" be at war with each other - but they just, simply, are not; they are expertly blended and most of the time, I find it difficult to pick them out. Sometimes I smell honey, sometimes the prevalent note is sandalwood, sometimes iris, sometimes it's boozy - and so it carries on. Eau My Soul is ballsy and courageous; it's modern, soft and pretty; it's vintage, cool, professional and detached; it's warm and voluptuous and oh! so sexy. Theoretically, it probably shouldn't work, but it does. The only other perfume I own which is so full of contradictions (and I do not mean that there are any similarities in smell) is Womanity. Eau My Soul rocketed straight toward the top of my list of favourite scents. If I'd known how much I was going to love it, I would have invested more and bought a 100ml bottle... hindsight though, eh? ETA: I tried this during the extreme heat and humidity of summer in SE England this year - this was the first time I experienced honey as being "urinous" on my skin! I was horrified and couldn't wash it off quickly enough. Now the weather has cooled considerably, I can wear Eau My Soul again (thank goodness).

This perfume is significant for a few reasons: First, it was the brain-child of Christi Long working closely with perfumer Sarah McCartney as a crowd-brain-trust perfume idea, which has rarely been done (and done so successfully.) I also was fortunate to meet Sarah recently and try the perfume "in house" so speak. I'm finally able to have some time to give it a serious wearing on its own. I really like to experience perfumes without the pyramid structure. Particularly in this case, I knew there were a lot of notes that went into this, and many opinions (I even voted as well!) so there had to be a kind of democracy of process which could not have been easy to translate into perfume. Yet the final product is sublime. You would not imagine that this is stew-pot of many flowers and woods, etc. But rather, Sarah has used the note-voting mechanism to enable inspiration to guide the making. What particularly strikes me about the smell of Eau my Soul is its velvety texture. It has an interplay between soft pale violet-color floral (a very gentle neroli and what seems to be white and blue flowers) and dark labdanum/benzoin/booze where neither predominate but both support each other. There is so much happening with this scent, but there are no rough edges, its gently smoky, leathery and floral, with just the barest hint of sweetness, and it also takes a slight nod to vintages. That hint of oakmoss-ish sour wood smell is addictive and so familiar. In the end, this is insanely comforting, sophisticated but in a really approachable way, evolving into a very personal scent. Sarah has enabled many components to co-exist in order that we can find ourselves in this perfume. I do believe there is something here for everyone, the wood lovers, the floral lovers, etc. In short, I'm damned impressed.

To me, Eau My Soul isn't so much complex as it is entirely comfortable. There's a lot going on, but you really needn't think about it. The impression I get from Sarah about her scents and her personality is that she really dislikes pretentiousness. That a scent can communicate a story or a mood without being dissected to death in a way that bores onlookers and destroys the emotion of the scent... but can be understood in such a way if that makes the wearer comfortable. Eau My Soul is this type of scent. What I, personally, get, as it appears that this is indeed a chameleon that changes not just from wearer to wearer, but also from time to time that it worn, is lots of woods, cognac, iris and honey. It's a little powdery, but mostly warm and sweet in a bit of a dry way. I don't mention vanilla as a more dominant note because while it is for me, it is blended so well with whichever note is taking the centre stage. Notes don't scream out, but accords do. Sometimes it can be a warm, sweet accord. Other times a smoky floral. In not so many words, this isn't a soli-note fragrance, nor a slowly unfolding one where one note becomes clearer than others in whichever stage its in - its just a superbly blended fragrance. In saying this, some of the listed notes do not scream at me. Oakmoss, which Sarah seems to LOVE using, is not entirely noticeable... nor is vetiver or tuberose. That isn't to say that they aren't there, but more to imply that if they weren't listed, they wouldn't entirely be able to be picked out. Still, it's quite magnificent and a good indicator of what the fragrance community is enjoying at the moment. A 'warm group hug' is a pretty accurate description.

#1699 in my “Tour de Fragrance” Another user pointed out that as frequently as I praise this scent they couldn’t find where I had actually reviewed it. A definite oversight on my part. I thought I had, but hadn’t. This is in fact one of my all time favorite woody vanilla scents. I realize there are thousands, but this is a standout. Good longevity thanks to the myrrh and incense, but like a lot of vanilla and amber scents it’s not really volatile and has just moderate silage. It has the same ambery characteristic as Serge Lutens “Ambre Sultan” but it’s brighter and more floral with an especially nice touch from the iris note. The cognac and honey gives it some of the same smell as Bentley "for Men.” In fact I just now realized I should layer Ambre Sultan with Bentley for Men. This is greener and woodier than MFK "Absolue Pour le Soir”, not as fruity as Diptyque “Volutes” which I would also own if it were EDP or parfum concentration, not a mediocre performing EDT that you can’t smell an hour later. I can’t imagine anyone male or female not loving this scent. This is more for the guys aged forty plus. But the 20 something women I know all love it. Everyone that smells it on me asks about it. Super compliment getter! I probably would stick to using this as an attractant, not office wear, but you could get away with it. One note, and it may be just the bottle I got, but the atomizer on my bottle is really bad. Good Luck and Good Hunting!

Eau My Soul, what a name, and mostly, what a fragrance! The moment I opened the box, the first thing that I smelled was incense and amber, It reminded me of Tom Ford's Amber Absolute but not as strong and with a lot more going on here. The first spray introduced me to an assault of notes that is so well blended and nothing short of stunning. After a few minutes, a boozy honeyed sandalwood accord were holding hands and singing some melodious tunes to my nose. This thing here got me confused, it's strong but soft, loud but calm, bold yet gentle, this is an amazing fragrance that will blow your socks off. This is the fragrance worth hyping and letting the world know about. I've heard many great things also from the perfumer Sarah McCartney and amazing stories of how this fragrance was created, absolutely worth checking out. All in all there are 25 fantastic notes in this bottle, but the main notes to my nose are amber, opoponax, cognac, iris, sandalwood, honey, patchouli, vanilla, and leather. This fragrance is worth every penny and pls do yourself a favor get a sample, you will remember the first sniff for a long time. I'm truly impressed! All day, all year affair.

It's here!!! And it's just as beautiful as everyone says, and as I'd hoped. On first sniff, I felt a sparkling burst of bergamot, and a big, hot red rose. Not far behind, a posh-yet-inviting leather/labdanum pairing that did me in. I'm a drooling fool for rose and leather together! If those notes were all there was to Eau My Soul, they'd be enough to have me hooked, but no... Sarah McCartney made pure magic here, with I believe, 26 notes. Most are my favorites - Amber, musk, tonka, all of those trusty warm fuzzies- As well as rose, orange blossom and tuberose, some of my most loved florals. I sense the tobacco note, which can be challenging for me. Here, it is round and velvety, accented with tendrils of cool incense smoke, and delicious! I think the tuberose, orange blossom and musk work well to imply the soft fabrics and cleanly creamy, human aspect of a group hug. Eau My Soul does smell like I'd like to think a warm group hug in a room full of parfumistas would smell... Warm, yes, and fabulous... But also, quite unique, and meaningful. I am beyond honored, and grateful to be wearing this creation, and to be a part of the amazing group that inspired it.

This is something very special. I bought a 100ml bottle of this based just on the notes, and because I was intrigued by the idea of a group-created fragrance. I do not regret this purchase at all. It’s a scent that’s very contradictory in many ways, and yet all fits together purposely. It has the boozy, warm, gourmand notes, but avoids being heavy or overly rich. It has several traditionally sweet notes, but isn’t cloying in the least. The opening reminds me a little of jasmine tea, sort of invoking a dim sum house for me. It has a combination of the boozy congnac, honey, and vanilla, but it’s lightened by a beautiful sandalwood and incense combination. There’s a hint of neroli and bergamot, but they blend perfectly with the other notes rather than dominate, as these notes often do. In the drydown, the sandalwood, iris, and incense really take center stage with hints of subtle sweetness and florals in the background. This is a scent that’s every bit as complex and sophisticated as you’d think it is, yet manages to not be loud or screechy. This is an instant love for me. Been wearing it nonstop since it arrived. 10/10

blind buy and my god am i pleased. i wasn’t expecting this to genuinely evoke the feeling of a warm embrace, but it really does. it is an incredibly warm, soothing fragrance. there’s something about it that smells so luxurious.. perhaps even sacred.. it must be the myrrh. it’s decadent, but in a beautifully deep way, not an indulgent way. a perfect spicy amber.. more incensey than it is sweet. it’s ever so slightly boozy, with a vein of golden honey. it is exactly how sarah described it; a big warm hug. immaculate winter fragrance. and although i cannot wait to wear this on those painfully cold days, right now during the summer, i still find it to be very enjoyable to wear. such an enchanting, easy to love scent imo. edit: i brought this with me on my south italian explorations and it was so perfect. it will now be attached to/forever revoke my memories there.

Sarah has worked her magic again. On my skin this smells similar to old parchment. Dry, sandalwood, incense and resins. I get the cognac but it doesn't hang around long on me. Honey is listed but I wouldn't call this a particularly "sweet" scent. Perfectly unisex imho. There are lots of fragrances out there where the aforementioned notes dominate but the magic comes from the iris, rose, vetiver and tobacco that take this apart from the rest. They become more evident after 10 minutes or so. It's a swirling, warm and dusty dream of the Middle East. It has a unique airy quality that makes it very easy to wear. I think it would be hard not to love. I get good longevity and it retreats back to a skin scent after half an hour or so.

The following review is mine...no idea why it came up as ‘guest’. Very interested in all the reviews on this one. It surely is so different on different skins. A chameleon scent, a trickster, an unpredictable one. On my skin I get a lot of booze, and I mean a lot! It’s up there with the 4160 Tuesdays’ Candlelight perfume in booze strength! And honey and myrrh ( myrrh always amplifies on my skin mind ) . I don’t get any florals or anything else, they are overshadowed. It doesn’t matter though..it’s warm, intoxicating, rich and velvety. It’s strong in projection with decent longevity! A beautiful winter one, can see me wearing this a lot in the long, dark winter nights. And Christmas time!

This is one the first 4160 Tuesdays fragrances that I feel I've loved with my heart rather than my head, if that makes sense. On me, it's reminiscent of California in the early 1990s, a boho, sweet, incensey, sandalwood vibe in a yoga retreat. But in the nicest possible way. And a little cognac to relax with (kind of incongruously given the slight hippie vibe, but in a multifaceted way it is perfectly balanced). Emotionally, this is a warm and comforting scent with elements of the exotic that surprise and captivate me. The sillage is moderate and, on me at least, the scent does fade after a few hours although the essence remains close to my skin, invitingly.

At first this seemed a bit bland to me, a sort of ambery-woody-blah-blah you can smell everywhere but after wearing this a couple of times I want to wear it again...and again and again. A lot of Incense in the beginning, very nice sandalwood, some iris/orris, honey, resins etc...For me it really is the comfort-scent it aspires to be. If you want to explore the most original/funny/wierd side 4160 Tuesdays, don’t go for this, but if you want something nice and comfortable to wear that probably appeal to many people, please do!

I have 6 decants from 4160 and this is my least fav. Not to say I don't like it bc I do. I have just accepted that any perfume with patchouli I tend to never like immediately. They grow on me after several uses. Fortunately, the other notes overrule the patchouli but this also faded quickly before I could see if the dry down was different from the initial spray! Im really a fan of 4160 but so far none last more than an hour or two on me..

I sat on a sample of this for two years... TWO YEARS! What on earth? When I first sampled Eau My Soul I was sampling amber fragrances like mad and was comparing everything to Grand Soir. Ok, it's not a show stopper but Eau My Soul is smooooth and perfectly blended. Not too sweet, not to spicy, not too heavy. Perfectly blended. Very comforting and addictive. I wear this in the evening and to bed quite often. It's a big love for me!

Wow. Just Wow. Thanks to another lovely fragrantica member I was able to sample this scent. Opening is all honey-tobacco-myrrh goodness, everything else is blended so well it’s hard for me to pull out additional notes. Drydown is suede-like, warm and smooth. My overview is simplified, but this works on my skin. Impressed is the only word that comes to mind. Slightly masculine but I think a large swath of women can pull this off.

Successful blind buy. I love it when that happens. This is beautiful. At the opening I'm getting sandalwood, incense, honey and spices. Maybe a touch of the cognac. This probably isn't the best time of year for this perfume but it is still beautiful, even in the heat. I could see this being a fall and Christmas favorite. Edit: I should have bought the 100ml bottle instead of the 30. I can't get enough of this.

There is something weirdly addictive about this fragrance. I got a sample from Luckyscent, and it is a smooth rum, resinous, lavender seductive scent. I keep smelling my wrists like a fiend. Eau My Soul is a unisex scent. Unfortunately, the scent doesn’t have great longevity nor does it have an impressive sillage. I’m still willing to get a full bottle soon.

yummy...cozy...boozy! I love this one. Top 5 of all time, for sure. I always seem to gravitate towards this one when I don't have a specific mood for a fragrance for the day. I know it will be just perfect for cooler days/nights and I don't mind the booziness of this one when it's a bit warmer. Seriously this one is a keeper for life...

I absolutely love being a part of this group , it's the best perfume group ever ! I can't comment on the perfume itself as I haven't had the pleasure of trying it but I love the notes and was thrilled to be part of the deciding which notes would be chosen. A truly wonderful idea from Christi and I am sure a fabulous creation by Sarah !

I love this. It's deep and warm, spicy and beautiful. Like a smooth whiskey aged in sherry barrels. It smells like if it carries history with it - along the lines of Frapin 1270, in that deep fruity, jammy, boozy way. Old wooden furniture, a warm fire. Dried fruits and marmalade, chocolate. Beautiful.

This is absolutely superb. Although sandalwood is a main player, all the other components make this a masterly smoky, earthy, floral, woody treat. It's most definitely full bottle stuff. Without a doubt it's one of the best Autumn fragrances I have ever come across. Oh, yeah, its totally unisex too.

Superb. This is warm and comforting and very much like a hug in a bottle. It smells familiar to my nose or rather, for me, it brings forth lovely memories. Truly lovely. A special perfume with a unique olfactory experience - its like I know it but I don't.

A very lovely spicy, dark chocolate, deeply resinous creation. Warm and smooth and honeyed. Deeply sensuous and rich. I don't know exactly how to describe this beauty, but..... that is its magic I believe. I personally really enjoy this fragrance.

This is an absolutely gorgeous scent and very addictive. It's warm, ambery, sweet and a little bit musky. I only wish it was longer lasting! But overall, highly recommended, one of the best from 4160 Tuesdays, along with Vianne's Confession.

DEEP COMFORT You are in your cabin - it's a winter night - snow is gently falling outside - you light some logs - sipping cognac - a piece of dark chocolate in-between sips - under your cashmere throw.....

Update 10/27/2017...Eau My Soul is now available at Luckyscent! It is $95 for 30 ml, $185 for 100 ml and $5 for a sample. So many people have been asking, I wanted to let everyone know.

This is a beautiful mix! Longevity isn’t the best but i will just re apply. Love the scent. Very calming, like a hug indeed. Full bottle worthy for me.

Gorgeous Whisky like boozy presentation. Requested this as a sample from Luckyscent in an order. I love Whisky scents and despite the complexity of the note table which I get after overanalysing I found it reminded me of D'Orsay Le Dandy which is one of my favourite scents - period! Sure enough I have both on now on each arm. Identical especially in the long dry down except EMS is more powdery, a little darker with the amber and a touch more syrupy from the honey (I don't get so much of the tobacco as is listed) as opposed to the brightness in Le Dandy - in fact it has a little more depth than Le Dandy but I'm not sure this is needed as the depth is sort of - I guess - well, its just common enough. None the less its very very close. I prefer Le Dandy for its projection and just blatant look at me - I'm an unusual Whisky/boozy scent - and it out performs it for longevity. I would probably tell them apart if I didn't know the bottle but its close, very close - you would say they are similar though achieved by different routes. I suspect the different make up would be more obvious in Summer - again I know Le Dandy is refreshing in Summer but warming in winter. There is also a huge price difference that to me can't be justified so again this will loose out easily to Le Dandy. Lovely otherwise and I would not turn down a free bottle at all!

304 I wore this during a time of tragic loss. The waters, my life force, of my soul poured out into tears and my heart was a desert of death. I wore this today, so comforting to the body and spirit, in the first true cold damp days of the decaying season. That’s how it felt when a piece of my heart died...cold, silent, empty... It’s a time of sadness and silence, eternal sleep of life forms for some. For me, this is all complex, deep and rich, nostalgic... Resinous, fruity, sour, gently sweet, aromatic, and powdery. The powder is gentle and cozy. I feel a stillness radiating from it and life within too... 9/10-lovely strong meditative aura

Wonderful spicy woody, sandalwoody Oriental. The cognac up front with pleasant honey, myrrh, tobacco and incense. It’s dense and lovely, buzzing with so many notes harmoniously. You can virtually pick out nearly every listed ingredient. It’s warmth itself. Resinous, woody, of smoke and spice, all with the added depth of sweet florals.Perfect for cool weather months of fall and winter. All scents of the hearth and then some. A near perfect scent with an embraceable warmth whether for the out of doors or in. Sadly, it is shortlived and the liveliness of the disparate notes lasts less than an hour.

Right after spraying, some lovely cognac along with tobacco and honey are the most prominent notes, which is my favorite stage of Eau my Soul. Soon after, the resins start developing, while the booziness slowly subsides, and the fragrance becomes a solid amber scent that is on the spicier and drier side. Once fully dried down, it will have become an archetypal amber fragrance due to its well-balanced notes. However, for that reason, there is also nothing edgy or exciting about it.

Review from a non-poet: I got a sample of this from luckyscent. Imagine the scent of root beer, now take out the sugar and replace with honey. It’s warm, mellow and spicy. And the name is beautiful and suggestive. This feels 70% gourmand to me.. this is root beer from a top chef! The other 30% consists of resins, incense and herbal notes. A very nicely blended perfume with a special feeling; nostalgia, peace, wintry warmth.

This is a beautiful scent, the main players to my nose are boozy notes, sandlewood, iris, lavender, all sweetened by honey. A faint touch of vanilla and rose. I don’t get all the other notes, especially tobacco which has been voted highly. This is more feminine to me and not my cup of tea. I think women would love, it’s hard not to like.

Quite a melange of notes, all but the kitchen sink it seems, but shockingly--it works! A rich, resinous enveloping aura with great longevity. Thankfully on me, I sense no tobacco and also the scent does not come off boozy. Well done!

The scent of drinking booze in the woods on a cold night. Tobacco, cognac, and amber are NOT my thing but thankfully these get blended into all the other notes. It is sweet and woody. This is an excellent winter/fall scent.

I got my sample from Lucky scent and all I smell is airy clean white musk. Clearly mislabeled. Hope to try the correct scent based on rather glowing reviews. Wonder what the heck the clear juice I got actually is.

Starts drunk, I mostly take roses, patches, honey, musks, balms, bergamot, labdanum, opoponax .. I don't like this phase which lasts about an hour. And like the wife of Rudis Nobile1942! .. In the dry I prefer it. For my nose it is still a drunk, dark, smokier, oriental, spicy sweet unisex rose. Excellent in the winter months. Not my type but honest, well done. On my skin the rose takes over, but this one has many notes in balance and collects easy consents. good drydown.

Love the story behind this but on my skin, it's an experiment gone wrong. Not a comforting group hug but rather that weird little jam packed new age shop down at the mall. A bit much for me. Did I actually say that? It's an interesting and almost -but-not -quite-Goth trail and will definitely have a following but it's just not my personal favorites. Also it fades really quickly leaving only the smoky patchouli. Yup. Just left the new age shop. How did you guess?

Sticky, thick, golden honey is all I get on my skin. Was hoping for more of a floral background and a bit more sparkle from the bergamot listed in the notes. I was expecting it to be more complex, but honey is the only note I get, and a bit of cognac at the very beginning that evaporated quickly... It's a warm, syrupy fragrance. If you love honey, go for it and try a sample. This could be beautiful on some people, just not for me personally.

I am very disappointed by the projection of this stuff. I also think it has too much going on. Each sniff brings something new, which is always fun but I am not crazy about what I am getting. Plumb, grape soda, a little spice, booze. Pissy urinal cake is that you? The seminal question, do I want to smell like this? Not particularly. How is the performance? Across the board not acceptable. Less than an hour in and it is largely gone. Red card for you 4160 Tuesdays. Patricia de Nicolai and Pascal Gaurin are already on my do not purchase list. Patricia for off putting smells in her work, then insipidness and lack of performance for Pascal. Time to add Sarah McCartney to the list for both. I have aftershaves that last longer than this. Glad I discovered decants. I am going to be in London in June and would be very annoyed if I visited her shop only to be greeted by this. She should be ashamed by the complete lack of performance.

I'm sure this will get downvoted into oblivion, but I have to be the dissenting voice amongst the reviews. Artful though this may be, you have to like certain fragrance families to truly enjoy it. I know this was developed as a collaborative effort using "comforting" notes. By glancing at the notes list, most of these are not things I would have selected as comforting. Eau My Soul starts out with a hearty dose of balsamic notes, reminding me of a less spicy version of Calvin Klein Euphoria Amber Gold. As the balsamic notes fade slightly, the boozy and vanillic notes emerge.

Highly resinous and gritty. Not what I expected at all. It is not especially sweet (no honey or vanilla on me), mostly dry woods, resins, and incense. This reminds me the most of Tauer L’air du Desert Marocain). You must really love myrrh, opoponax, labdanum, woods and incense to enjoy this. Since I don’t like it, of course it lasts.

Eau my Soul (“EMS” for the rest of my review) is an oriental woody fragrance created as a bespoke juice for the Facebook group Eau My Soul stemming from the creative idea of one of the group Admins Christi Long. The members collaboratively voted on desired notes to use and Sarah McCartney, the perfumer, took it from there. EMS opens with a bold note of cognac. In this instance, the cognac doesn’t have an overly boozy quality but retains many of the complexities of a fine cognac: slightly herbal, slightly floral, slightly fruity, and slightly leather-like. Like cognac the note is instantly warm and inviting. There is also a cool incense note. The incense plays well off of the cognac and acts to begin to elevate and add to the complexity of the fragrance. There is a feel of a slightly honeyed, but not overly sweet, amber adding a richness and underscoring the warmth and coziness of the juice. The opening notes are soon joined by a light tobacco (smells like a pipe tobacco) and a slightly sweetened, creamy clean patchouli, a delicate rose, and a whiff of iris and orange blossom. At about the one hour mark, I begin to detect a touch more leather, and musk. As the fragrance wears, about 2 hours in, I get notes of wood, tonka, oakmoss, and vanilla. Through the course of wear, it seems the notes appear, fade a bit, then reappear. Toward the end of wear, the incense, sandalwood, musk, and wood notes seem to be the most prominent. The play between the notes seems to draw the wearer in. The juice feels intimate, warm, and inviting. The goal was to create a scent much like a group hug and Eau My Soul does indeed feel like that. EMS wears on me for 9 – 10 hours with heavy going to moderate projection.

Eau My Soul is an exciting perfume that needs no introductions. You either no it or you don't. It doesn't need fanfare or an announcement, it just coyly makes its way around wherever you are, causing intrigue. It trickles out from your skin in gentle wafts of comfort. If you can't tell by now, I love this fragrance. It's a mature, boozy and elegant scent that makes you question why you don't wear it every minute of every day. In saying that, it is really only suitable for cold weather in the warm embrace of a woolen jumper - at least for me. It's a morpher occasionally, making it somewhat hard to review. Sometimes it can be sweet, sometimes a booze assault. Tuberose and lavender seem to be so meticulously blended that I can never pinpoint them. This is sad for me because they happen to be my favourite smelling flowers. However, due to this, the scent is never boring. Nor is it ever overpowering, provided you apply it with a delicate touch. I'll admit that I purchased this more out of loyalty to the Facebook group than the listed notes but the notes picked out by the members who got there before I did seem to have come to a fantastic end. No loose ends, no shocking surprises, just coziness.

New to 4160 Tuesdays, and niche in general, but finding so many of these pleasant in a home fragrance sort of way but not as wearable fragrance. There's A LOT going on in this one and while I don't find the scent particularly unpleasant, I do find it personally unappealing. My general take (off a paper blotter; I'm unwilling to actually wear this at this point) is of flat cola and potpourri, with an artificially scented incense burning in the background, until it settles into a plasticky fruity skin scent. I wouldn't gag if I entered someone's home and it smelled like this, but I don't think I could bear to wear this all day. I'll admit, my opinion should have limited impact on whether anyone tries it bc I haven't actually worn this, but I figure the process of choosing a scent should begin with at least a positive impression from a blotter. I didn't have that with Eau My Soul. Maybe someday I'll suck it up and try it on and be surprised. At this moment in time, I've come across so many other niche house offerings I can't wait to wear (The Ghost In The Shell, I Am Trash, Spell 125, Amazingreen, etc.) that Eau My Soul simply hasn't won a place among them.

4160 seems to have 4160 fragrances in existence. So how do you know which fragrance to try? I don't have any advice; just roll the dice. That's what I end up doing and got lucky. This is a heavy hitter right here and that other stuff is just jabs. Felix Courvoisier would be jealous of this rich adaptation of cognac which seems to never sober. An awesome brown imagery is created by a myriad of notes that soars and transfigure your reality, granting Eau my Soul the status of necessary myth. The fragrance's chief virtue is its spectacular fragrant choreography in how it dances to the beat of a woody drum. When a composition is made with a thousand different things, certain notes will get lost in translation. I'm not going to jot down what's missing but just know that this fragrance is "brown" throughout. The base is like a final battle ending with a striking woody presence combined with the dynamism and clarity of some time worn amber. Even at its nadir, the heart of the cognac still beats....defiantly.
