Fluffy Lemon Top

This is such an quirky scent and another great perfume from Sarah McCartney It's delightful in the heat of summer and unlike some light scents really projects and lasts I would describe it as a buttery citrus gourmand

I thought Fluffy Lemon Top would smell the way Mrs Gloss ended up smelling. This one is much more complex and challenging. It starts off with lovely citrus that quickly fades. Then there's a sweetness that I'm assuming is the white chocolate, but it comes off kind of tangy like cheesecake to me. The cheesecake image continues with a sort of cinnamon graham cracker crust which I believe is the tonka mixed with some of the other notes. However, because of the moss and musk, this has a kind of perfumey dirtiness that is confusing with the gourmand notes, like someone dropped a cheesecake on the pavement (that sounds harsh but it doesn't actually smell bad, just unusual). Since the citrus is so fleeting this is not what I was looking for, but it is interesting and unique. Edit: now that I understand this is a more lighthearted addition to their "Clouds" series (which I find are quite moody), the scent makes a bit more sense to me. I think the name of the fragrance is a misnomer and threw my expectations off. I think their scent "Both Sides of Clouds" is very similar to this one but without as much citrus and sweetness. This one is much more powerful though and I find myself craving it.

Really disappointing. The opening is a very basic citrus pastry but the dry down is so sickly sweet I had to take it off. I think it’s the combo of white chocolate and musk. It just makes me think of super cheap Easter candy. This house seems to be using the same base for many of their perfumes

The 4160 Tuesdays website calls this an "art deco ice cream parlour". I'd mentally filed the phrase under simple marketing copy, but once I spritzed it, I was like - oh. I get it now. It absolutely is . It's definitely more the parlour than the ice cream itself, however. There's a beautiful rich creaminess to the scent that does remind me of the good vanilla ice cream - or white chocolate, in this case. It's a vanilla I've seen glimpses of in other 4160 Tuesdays - there's a similar underlying creaminess to Mrs Gloss Lemon Sherbet , though that's where their similarities begin and end. Here it's a 'melted' ice cream, warm rather than cold. Despite that, though, I'm not sure I'd call this a gourmand. There's an smudge of mossy dirt, tonka, and citrus under the whole thing, with the florals shyly crowding around the edges - the vanilla is positively scrumptious , but the remainder of the scent isn't as edible. If I'd offer one criticism to the "art deco" comparison, it's that this strikes me more as "art nouveau". The florals do play their role here, and there's an interesting flow between the softer, creamier notes, and the earthier and dirtier ones that it slowly fades into. And please, do, heed the warning - this is a chypre, and it does change to a much mossier base. I'm in love with the opening, but once those notes start peeking through, it's like zooming out from the ice cream to bring focus to the building around it - bouquets of flowers on the tables, elegant architectural lines dressed up in bronze and gleaming, a breeze bringing in the faint scent of the bustling street outside. A faint vintage tinge seeps over the whole scene, muffling sounds and softening the edges. The ice cream remains, but it's no longer the main event. It is lovely, even if it's not my style. But 'not my style' it remains, and as such, I'll tip my hat to the entrance and pass this parlour by.

I don't understand the lemon this brand uses...it always smells like soapy cardamom. I've tried lemon sherbet and it smells like this too, a soapy lemon with musk. Yes it's very musky and soapy lemon that smells like cardamom, but where is the other ingredients? it's just musk and lemon, I shouldn't expect much else though it is called fluffy lemon so I guess that's what it's supposed to be a musky soapy lemon and that's what you get. No vanilla or white chocolate though wish I could smell those in it because I love citrus and vanilla combo, this just isn't it
