Midnight in the Palace Garden

The opening is fantastic - a juicy and non-sweet citrus with white florals. As the woods come through with the coffee, it feels almost incensy, and it gives this fantastic atmosphere of space, stillness and a night sky (not unlike the feeling I get from Tauer's L'air du désert marocain but with different notes). The drydown is quieter, sadly, but still an enjoyable softened wood base. This is not what I was expecting this to smell like, and it is not as floral or as sweet as the note pyramid suggests. The strongest players for me are the citrus, jasmine, coffee and wood (and the imagined incense I smell). I love this. It is vivid yet dreamy, mysterious but assertive and suits any occasion. I have been exploring the house quite a bit and this is one of my favourites and different from the vintagey florals and fruits of many of their other compositions. One recurring element in 4160 Tuesdays is a terrific citrus, however, so be sure to explore if you like a citrus top note.

This is all potent sweet flowers of the night and spicey woods. The sandalwood stands out on me. It has the same sort of expensive quality of an Amouage fragrance. I have a decant of Amouage Fate that I love and this is up alongside it in power and quality. Yes, I get the coffee, the vanilla, the orange, jasmine, neroli and the frangipani. Glancing at this list of notes makes you wonder how could it combine so well to make this gloriously decadent fragrance, On me the middle notes are all about the flowers and on the dry down the woods come to the fore. This will definitely appeal to the Middle Eastern market. Its all about a heavenly Persian garden filled with the mesmerizing fragrance of night blooming blossom. Water dancing from a small fountain and water rippling along rills surround me. It has serious sillage (please take into consideration that I am testing in a warm room). Sarahs successfully weaved her olfactory magic once again. The longevity is long.

Another beautifully evocative perfume name from 4160T, and happily, another first class fragrance to match. The blood orange note listed in the pyramid smells more like a night walk through a grove of lemon trees to me. Mesmerising from the first spray. This stuff is pungent for the first few minutes on my skin, and a little goes a long way, but it gets softer and smoother quite quickly. A delicious unfolding of jasmine and frangipani follows the citrus opening and then an almost chocolatey vanilla and coffee combination come into play. The dry down is heavenly - honey and yellow flowers, sitting close to the skin. Imagine Cleopatra waiting for Mark Anthony on the terrace of their Roman villa love nest, the scent of night blooming flowers heavy in the warm air, a silver tray of exotic, spiced sweets served to her while she awaits her lover. A very special offering from this fabulous British perfume house.

I'm in love....MITPG is something very evocative and special. Throughout the life of this fragrance the blood orange is prominent. This doesn't smell like midnight, it smells like 5 in the morning when you have stumbled across a marquee made from red silk saris. On a hand carved wooden table there are orange peelings just beginning to dry and harden around the edges, spilled dark coffee and cardamom perfumed sweets. On a beautiful round bed with raw silk linen, mahogany red rose petals are scattered around. You lay on the crumpled sheets, which are still warm from bodies scented with sandalwood oil. You breathe in, and you wish you had been there at midnight, while you look at the brightening sky above.

The first time I wore this I oversprayed it to the point of feeling WHAT DEMON SCENT IS THIS GET IT OFF GETT IT OFF, put it back in my perfume cupboard and didn't smell it again for well over a year. When I finally did (and used a very small amount, a little goes a long way) it was the loveliest scent, both rough and smooth, sweet and spicy. It quickly soared up to become one of my favourite perfumes, despite my initial reaction definitely brought on by user error.

Sparkling,sophisticated and elegant! A majestic perfume that leaves a unique wake... wood accents give this scent a "classical" aura and at the same time fascinating. Midnight in the Palace Garden surprised me, not bad, i like it!! Sillage: 8./10 Longevity: 8.5/10 Scent: 8/10 Overall: 8./10

really surprised me. after the first spray i absolutely hated it -- felt far too much -- but the drydown was quite quick and i found that after an hour or so i really, really loved it. the vanilla and woodsy notes are delicious. my partner said it smelled christmassy -- one of the accords on the 4160 website is mulled wine -- so maybe not one to have tried in the middle of august, but i’m glad i gave it a chance instead of scrubbing it off. only a limited sillage but i quite like it as an intimate scent.

I get a hint of Fruit Loops cereal throughout the lifetime of this on my skin. It's really lavish and unique in my opinion and most of the notes are easy to detect. I admit I wasn't really sold at first but this grew on me because the drydown reminded me of Guerlain's Habit Rouge quite a bit witch is a even bigger score lol. Honestly I'm not sure if I'd want to add tothe collection but I do like and respect the beauty this exudes...

I don't think my nose *gets* this scent 😂. It smells like someone left a manky chamois leather cloth amongst some old lumber in a musty loft for 150 years. I feel like my nose hairs have been burned every time I go in for another sniff. I love 4160 Tuesdays and have a lovely growing collection but this is a solid nooooooo.

It is a strange and bizarre scent- on paper, looks like a dream. It has got notes of an enchanted potion. I LOVE white florals, I love jasmine and frangipani. I love coffee notes. I love orange and vanilla and woody notes. What is there not to like? The beginning is a burst of what I was hiping for- a fresh citrus on white flowers. It os gorgeous and to die for. But, as someone else mentioned below, it dries down very quickly. And the drydown is just woods. It has a similar drydown to a few other 4160 Tuesday scents. I would say it is well crafted and I think if you like this type of drydown and it works for you, you will love most of their perfume. For me, it does not work as well. It is nice, but the most interesting phase does not last long enough and that woody drydown is a bit too quiet for me and too similar to a few other scents I know.

Incense, jasmine, sour lime, woods, cedar, and sandalwood. The fragrance on it's top note is amazingly put but it goes down the hill as it calms down. Quite interesting for a certain time frame but gets unsettled later on. The problem with "Midnight in the Palace Garden" is that it starts so well and perfect but after it settles down and within a minute of spraying it, the blend goes unbalanced and too rancid because of the overdose of jasmines and musk beside the grabefruit. The vanilla is presented shyly which is a bonus, the coffee isn't there clearly, but jasmines and musk are ruling over the blend on the middle and base. If i'm getting this, is because of the very top first spray, it gives an energy of sourness, the limes, and the incense, but later it just gets messed up. I just wish it remains as the very top note.

On my skin this is mostly about the citrus. At first there's a slight citric acid, but when that calms down it's a very warm aftershavey citrus, a bit manly, and very, very sexy. I also pick up on sweet, spicy raisins, jasmine and sandalwood. The woods provide a nice smooth background to the mix of notes on the top that can be slightly edgy. Be careful not to overspray as it can become quite peppery. It's an unusual garden that I've enjoyed exploring but personally this is a touch too masculine leaning for me.

This is an indulgent floral scent that embraces the magic of the midnight hour. I smell rich dried fruit - like apricot delight, mixed with spices and the sweet scents of jasmine and frangipani in full bloom.. The floral notes take a backseat in the opening, but upon drydown their presence is revealed in an enchanting way, mixed with sweet coffee and a bit of spice. Overall this fragrance is best described as delicious, dreamy, sensual and exotic.

MitPG opens as a plume of elegant dry spice, coffee and woods, with the delicate florals blossoming through the drydown. Performance is good but it just doesn't have the sumptuousness I was expecting; maybe if the orange and white florals were a little more powerful or narcotic it would be perfect. I'm tempted to layer it with another frag, maybe Dirty Honey or a jasmine scent, to give it the extra dimension I was looking for.

I just get woody oud with hints of coffee. It is a pleasant enough scent but fairly generic. I was hoping for more balancing between the woody and floral notes for a "garden" scent.
