Red Queen

4160 Tuesdays Red Queen is exclusive to Perfumology in the US and is a follow-up to last year’s White Queen. Whereas White Queen is a nutty, resinous, floral experience, Red Queen is, as I’ve described it a handful of times, like bright rosy champagne, with some common notes to White Queen like raspberry and resins but Red Queen is decidedly brighter, rosier, and fresher, adding blackcurrant and heavier use of Turkish rose absolute, along with bits of geranium and musk. On the one hand, it’s bright, fresh, and fruity; on the other, it has some other character with incense, pepper, and patchouli. The whole experience leans toward the fresh, fruity, and rosy, though, so it’s really an apt wear in many situations. In some ways, Red Queen is the summer to White Queen’s winter, though both are really very versatile with respect to season and occasion. It performs well, too, as with most of Sarah’s creations, albeit not quite as strongly as White Queen or some others in the collection, but as one of only a couple of 4160 Tuesdays perfumes that I own and would describe as more warm-weather-friendly, it makes sense that it’s not going to be as boastful as, say, Over the Chocolate Shop. Still, I’m very content with the way it projects for the first couple of hours and lasts thereafter. Red Queen is available at Perfumology at $120 for 50ml, very standard pricing, and I know I’ll need a backup bottle as I’ve already put a significant dent in mine several months into owning it. I’d highly recommend fashioning a sample if you’ve not yet tried it. 8 out of 10

Gorgeous, Rich, Deep, Luscious, Crimson-Red-Rose Empress of a scent! An opulently full blooming, newly opened buds, red rose garden with a few dewy fresh juicy raspberry creepers twining within the bushes, a low-simmering restrained resinous incense with joyful frankincense uplifting the rose along with the deepening labdanum and opoponax that threads its tendrils all around through the leaves. A bergamot orange tree in the background sturdily supporting all the growing bushes and vines, some friendly gentle musk deer are resting in the rose paradise garden enjoying the olfactory bliss, never crushing the petals or the fruits or knocking over the little incense censor. An absolute masterpiece of rose centered complexity. I adore this one!

Its like a ripe hot juice oozing over the edges of the frosted glass, there is a sweetness and a tartness at the same time. Its a velvet glove, a red satin pillow. Many hidden facets, different temperature, different day emphasising one over another. Love the combination of labdanum rose and raspberry & blackcurrant which are the most prominent for me. Enough complexity from the other notes in the periphery of the fragrance to keep the nose interested over time. Thick, tarry rose berry juice.

119 I loved the raspberry rose a lot but the ending with musk ruined it for me. It reminds me of Miss Charming, which I have. 7/10

My nose perked up at the initial sniff of frankincense, and while the development of the rest of the notes was pleasant, there isn't anything else captivating my attention. It's also sitting very close to my skin (no sillage) but that may be because I dabbed instead of spraying. Not memorable IMHO.

I get the rose and frankincense as top notes and in about equal quantities. As the heart notes begin to emerge, this morphs into an amber rose and reminds me of Byredo's Rose of No Man's Land and Guerlain's Rose Barbare. It isn't a duplicate of either and seems to me more complex than both with its incense, muskiness and spice, but the amber rose is consistent across all 3. For me, it's not a love but it's a definite like. I'd be very happy to be given this but don't feel driven to buy a bottle, as I did with several other's of this house's range. (Dark Queen, Temptation and Take Me To the River are stand-outs for me).

This is a fabulous rose incense with attitude. The deep red roses never leave you, but accepts long visits from guests such a patchouli, geranium, incense and blackcurrant, which works brilliantly here, adding purplish depths and fruity layers. Longevity is incredible and I always find myself walking a little taller when I wear this haughty and lovable Madam!

Need this. I bought my first bottle of Petite Cherie from dear Michelyn many many years ago. Petite Cherie is my signature. Michelyn and I followed each other for yrs on Facebook and I adore her. Probably my most wanted fragrance. It sounds divine.

I get fruity apricots, herbs, then sweet rose and furze, booze soaked sultanas and a gentle wisp of incense, on a bed of the most beautiful resins underneath. It's sweet, smooth, and balmy. So so so good!
