Rosa Ribes

This is delightful! A realy pretty, fruity and rosy chypre. The candied cassis is just right and the rose is deep, with layers of petals fully in bloom. It's like an old garden with a big sinewy black currant bush full with ripe berries, the leafs fragrant, deep green. And planted next to it are lush pink climbing roses that covers a wall of an old stone house. The scent is fresh and timeless. It's not a modern fruity chypre in the vein of YSL Mon Paris, but it's not at all vintage or "old". Something about it just feels both new and like an echo of time long gone, like a medieval ballad, a happy one. I love it.

Delicious rose scent. One of the few rose scent I actually love. Slightly fruity, some chypre background. Dark and feminine. Smells refined and expensive. Longevity is not as good as other 4160 Tuesdays releases but sprayed in the hair it is beautiful. I need a FB (oh no, not again). Another win from 4160 Tuesdays.

Rosa Ribes takes you on a journey beginning with a burst of fruit. The blackcurrant is jammy and sweet but balanced by the citrus notes. At first, the fruit is so huge that it pushes the rose into the background. Over time, the fruit fades and the rose comes forward. For me, it is the dry down that is loveliest. The gorgeous oakmoss and opoponax are powdery and gentle - it is almost like a different perfume. Not everyone loves a chypre. If you do, and if you are prepared to enjoy the evolutions Rosa Ribes goes through before the base notes can sing unaccompanied, then this could be for you. Edit,12th March 2024, so just over a month after I posted the foregoing. I'm 2/3 of the way down my bottle and wanted to add to my review: The first burst of fruit is BIG. Without the citrus, I think it would be too much for anyone who doesn't love blackcurrants. I can detect the rose at that stage and combined with the fruit, it's almost like there's some rose-flavoured Turkish delight in the mix. It's the gourmand scent of rose water rather than a garden-fresh blossom. It is after the top notes have waned that you get a lush, full-blown rose, straight from your garden. It did cross my mind that I could stand for the oakmoss to be a little more assertive but it would probably throw the whole composition off balance - you have to trust the skills, expertise and sheer artistry of the perfumer when you experience a perfume as lovely as this. My advice to anyone who tries Rosa Ribes is not to spray and forget; keep sniffing so you can follow it as it reveals each new phase.

Rosa Ribes is a pretty, well blended scent where rose is forward but not overpowering. I pick up equal amounts black currant and patchouli in supporting roles. It’s easy to wear, natural and very feminine. I like Rosa Ribes, but it burns out too quickly on my perfume absorbing skin. I applied it this morning and 1.5 - 2 hours later it was gone. Not the fault of the perfume, I still like it. I like everything I’ve sampled from 4160 Tuesdays, including this summer scent. Edit: wanted to add that my husband likes this scent. Even though I developed nose blindness, he could smell this on me past the 2 hour mark.

250 I really liked the black currant fruitiness until I smelled the band-aid oakmoss dry down. The oakmoss ruined any chance of getting a FB. Still looking for that perfectly fruity black currant fragrance... 7/10-stop using the damne oakmoss everywhere, it would have been prefect without it!

For me I can’t detect rose, only grapefruit. The grapefruit is fresh and citrusy without falling too into bathroom cleaner territory.

Absolutely luscious, fresh and floral, without being prissy or cloying. Such a beautiful scent.
