Canelo Negro

Canelo Negro is the first scent that I blindly got from 432, I am intrigued by the mission of the owner and the dedication he has to preserve nature but at the same time offer us the fruits of it. This is a mystical scent, a unique experience that probably only immaginary shamans in Chile are able to know in the depths of it, however for us that are far from those lands this comes as a deep and well thought out presentation of some of the coolest notes I have found in the shamanic folder, to me it comes as a mix of wood and incense scent that is clearly blended with some erbals and spices, there is a tridimensional layer that is covered with this wood presentation, it combines spices and some sort of fruit or flower (very Agrume) that seems deep and remineshent of a well preserved salame, I know it sounds wild, but to me is a great combination to give it a certain and defined character to the scent, is not anything I have in mind probably and is the combination of those woods and fruity notes that mixed together itches this feeling.. it pretty linear in the opening, but the depth of the wood is solid and poetic at the same time. The smoke note is well blended and a very good element in this composition, it feels like some sort of orange burn and smoked, is deep but not annoying, is actually interesting, it follows you as the feeling of the far trail of a collection of dry leafs burning from inside a forest to the outside in a more airy place. Letting the scent work, we open wide all the layers that take you to a sacred place, almost like a Library of wooden books containing the secrets of the soul. I think the skills of this blend come in the understanding of this fruity composition that gives this unique twist to the existing wooden deep notes. It opens as a very ancient scent, but giving it time becomes an elegant companion, a scent that gives me a feeling of knowledge, of great presence and a serious but very calm attitude. After simply one hour it becomes “religious”, it reminds me of a smell I felt in some rooms at Palazzo Reale in Venice, rooms that are full of artwork, but are close to a church, I think is the first scent of this kind that connects pure wild nature, the sacred, and the “religious” aspect in such a elegant and well mannered way. Beautiful use of natural chords, Downnote, it doesn't last very long. Canelo Negro is a mystic creation, which was something I was looking forward to adding to my Shamanic Folder. NOTE: I will go more into depth when I have the chance. It opens with these dry woods, with a spicyness. In the dry down, it becomes sweeter and some of the spicyness subdues. Definetly my favorite perfume in my collection.

Canelo Negro was probably the one I liked the least from 432 Wild Botanic Perfumes so far, mainly because I’m not a huge fan of smoky fragrances. That darker woody and tobacco facet is very present throughout the composition. That said, it’s impossible not to recognize the quality of the materials and the craftsmanship behind it. The fragrance feels extremely well made, rich, natural and refined, with beautiful woody, amber and balsamic nuances that give it depth and personality. Even though it’s not exactly my style, I can clearly see why someone who enjoys smoky, resinous and more atmospheric fragrances would absolutely love it. Another very artistic creation from the house.
