4711 Acqua Colonia Saffron & Iris

I was hesitant to get this because of the reviews, but I'm glad I did! I'm a fresh iris frag lover. My go-to is Molecule 01 + Iris although I have the Prada, Fleur de Peau and Glossier You etc. It fits my needs and my personality in a lot of situations and I'm happy to report that the iris note is similar to the one in M01+Iris (not exact match)! It is sort of edgy and almost industrial yet doesn't smell synthetic to me or at least not in a way that would bother me. The saffron was a concern for me, but it just makes the orris a bit more dry, gritty, and earthy somehow and it doesn't smell like cooking or body odor or anything. I got 170 mls for about $15 on a discount site and I think it is definitely worth while at that price point! It's not my favorite freshie iris of all time or even in my collection, but for the price and for my tastes, I will keep a bottle and a backup. That pushes it into love category.

A beautifyl dewy, papery iris. The saffron is blended beautifully, giving the fragrance a bit of complexity. It disappears nearly as quickly as you apply it so for this reason, I recommend decanting into a smaller 10ml bottle and carrying it with you to reapply throughout the day.

I love this cologne. I wear it when I want to smell inoffensive and mega fresh — road trip, doctor’s office, etc. I find a generous few sprays on well moisturized skin lasts most of the day.

Gorgeous but very light. Kind of a metallic iris, almost fizzy.

I have been on a bit of a 4711 AND an iris fragrance kick this year. I have been looking for an iris dominant blend as good as Yves Rocher's Secret De Iris --(sadly discontinued) and haven't been too successful. Prada's Iris is too powdery and Demeter's Purple Iris has no staying power or strong personality--(Which is why it reminds me of this scent) The 4711 flankers I've tried--(I've had the original for decades) all seem to have the bare bones of original 4711 as their skeleton and they all are lovely when first applied--but vanish like morning dew. This EDC is perfectly pleasant but faint as a whisper--like all the florals I've tried from the line. The 4711 Jasmin seems to have the most staying power and true floral scent of the new florals line--the lilac is barely recognizable and the Magnolia is sweet but not distinctive. I will continue to wear them and re-apply them often in warm weather!! SIGH!!

I wouldn't compare this to Prada's Infusion d'Iris. This perfume smells a lot cheaper. It's powdery and it smells slightly like make-up. I like it and I own a miniature bottle but I wouldn't choose the large bottle.

A soft, powdery, smell that reminds loose setting powder. It doesn't smell bad, and is especially comforting when wearing to bed. Pity about the longevity, but at the price point, one can hardly complain.

Calming powdery scent. Very soft. Longevity isn't good, but it's just a cologne so I didn't expect it to last long. Nice to put on right after the shower or even to wear to bed.

Smells like a baby wipe. I don't like it but it's not revolting or anything. That's just definitely what this smells like. A little soapy, a little powdery, a little musky, a little aquatic, some lily materials, and touches of light floral sweetness. Inoffensive and indistinguishable.

First, let’s be honest, we’re talking about a little good cologne, a scented water with a light concentration. When I choose an eau de cologne in my wardrobe, I do it on purpose: if I want something heavy and everlasting, don’t be silly, I have plenty of other options. What I like in this one, is its unisex borderline masculine aspect. The iris is a discreet reliable base, giving an automnal cloudy and rooty anchor. You know, the moody silence in fall, in a shadowy forest, rich, humid, quiet ? You take a deep breath. Feel sad and happy in the same time. That’s it. I won’t teach you how a cologne is made, citrus and stuff, you know, but let’s talk about the saffron addition. Very interesting here, giving a warm embrace, invigorating, soothing. Somebody (your husband, your best friend, your father, your son? ) prepared for you a spicy hot tea, now warming your cold hands, after the walk. It doesn’t last. But you know what? Nothing lasts, and it’s ok like that.

These 4711 Acqua Colonias are a lot of fun! This one is very pretty. It’s light, as to be expected, but still gives lovely, fresh wafts throughout the day. The iris is floral, rather than rooty, and the saffron gives it an ever-so-slight suede-like touch. Overall, the impression is of a clean, cool floral veil. It reminds me a little of L’Occitane’s discontinued Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc, so if you’re looking for a replacement for that scent, this might be a place to start (just spray liberally!).

Smells purple , fresh , crisp, leathery and some sprite mixed in with a vibe of Prada D Infusion 2008. I bought me about of 4711and it’s was good blind buy. I would buy another bottle for a daily running errands. The negative is longevity, you would have to spray continuously in the day. I usually spray in the morning and noon and evening if I am still out n the city .

i wear it almost 3 weeks now, prominent note is saffron, not the iris, ....very simple watery saffron ....iris is too lite, suitable for bedtime
