Burn For You

I am such a sucker for these types of scents - as in.. I smelled this and bought it immediately. This is beautiful! This is a pure wood burning smoke with a sweet vanilla touch. It’s like Memoirs of a Trespasser and By The Fireplace had a baby. The clove leaf gives this perfect amount of warmth and spice. Dries to the coziest ambery musk! Only downside is that it doesn’t last very long at all, but I bathe in it anyway. Drown me in this juice!! 10/10

You gotta love cloves to love this one. Clearly a winter fragrance, it smells like cold weather and Christmas cozy vibes. I don’t think it’s a dupe for by the fireplace but if you’re wanting less smoky and more spicy this could be a good alternative.

This is the last scent from the 5 Sens discovery set that I tried and its hands down my favorite. Full disclosure, I absolutely love Replica's By the Fireplace and I layer it with vanilla scents so this was right up that alley. This is a smoky vanilla with some clove spice to it that just does it for me. The smoke in this is an artificial smoke, not the photorealistic smoke you get in By the Fireplace. This scent profile is also basic and never evolves. What I smelled immediately after spraying is what I smelled hours later. This makes this an easy go to when you want that smoky sweet profile and just want to spray and head out. Overall, I really liked this and plan to add it to my collection at some point.

I have the travel size spray for By the Fireplace by MMM and it really smells like it but with the only difference being, that the clove and cinnamon note is very prominent and really reminds me of Christmas when everything starts smelling like cloves and cinnamon. It's more spicy with those notes while By the Fireplace I get those campfire notes more as well as a more sweet and creamy note? It's a decent dupe but to me, it really just smells like cloves and cinnamon.

Smells EXACTLY like the Finnish sauna. To me it isn't smoky, it's just very hot (not burnt) dry wood. Pretty linear, can't detect any vanilla, clove comes trough more in the dry down, leans more masculine. I quite like it, but you need to love those pencil shavings woodsy scents to enjoy it.

By the Fireplace without the marshmallow drydown

This is a warm spicy woody vanilla. I don't find the vanilla to be over powering. The strongest player here is the clove leaf. This is really warm and spicy. In fact, I would warn to try before you buy because the clove is so strong. I bought a travel size blind and I do like it. It's definitely something I would be more likely to crave in the winter. This is not a love for me, but I'm not mad at the purchase. I will revisit this in the colder months. Still, I would prefer the vanilla to be turned up stronger than the wood and clove.

I’ve never smelled something so similar like burning firewood before. Heaven to people who actually like the smell of firewood, but the wood notes are so overwhelming it takes away the actual characteristic of a perfume and just makes you smell like you were near a campfire.

Gorgeous scent ruined by an overpowering vanilla. Good longevity, good projection, but the vanilla takes it from something exciting to something very basic. I have a 30ML bottle I'll part with for half price if anyone is interested.

I need this now due to the review below me!! Clove cigarettes you say?? That was a college fav in the 9os!! I can still imagine smell!! Def going to try this!!

It smells like Grandmas Christmas Potpourri

The immediate and dominant note in Burn For You is an artificial smoke, an element conspicuously absent from the official description. It's a scent that is intensely spicy (think sharp cloves), very dry, and centered on a prominent cedarwood backbone that is only mildly tempered by a soft, demure vanilla. Overall, the fragrance is warm, musky, and spicy, but remains unapologetically smoky from start to finish. This is very similar to Vanilla Smoke by Phlur. I find myself preferring alternatives. The sweet, complex incense of Lattafa's Ameer al Oudh Intense Oud and the accurate, comforting photorealism of Maison Margiela's By the Fireplace (both of which I own) offer a much more satisfying experience. Burn For You, regrettably, comes across as a muddled attempt at a smoky vanilla, with the overpowering and misplaced spicy clove notes ultimately detracting from the composition for me, but for some that may be the highlight.

Smells like burning firewood. No sweetness, no vanilla. Just straight burned firewood. Reminds me of the incense that is burned at catholic funerals. Definitely not my cup of tea.

If you took everything that makes By the Fireplace special, took out the gourmand quality from it, and then dulled the overall fragrance you would get this.

This smell is insanely overpowering, and i typically love strong perfumes. it smells pretty bad

I never write reviews but this is the nastiest perfume i’ve ever smelt in my life. It absolutely REEKS! I can only describe the scent as what you smell like after sitting around a bonfire at night. You smell a lot of smoke, at the same time it’s sickly sweet, and it ends with making you feel sticky almost. I’m sorry to all my gals that love this, it’s just a serious no from me.

This was the nastiest scent I’ve ever smelled in my life. I honestly can’t believe these reviews are falling in love with it. I’m a sweet gourmand lover so this male scented spicy scent is horrible for me. Wow smells like a dirty man that drinks all day

Sampling this from a discovery set. I find Burn for You quite woody and spicy. I can definitely smell the cloves and am reminded of clove cigarettes!!! ..the black ones that used to be popular in the 90's. They crackled when you took a drag. Oh the memories. There is an earthy muskiness and slight smokiness about this fragrance as well. Not for me but I'm sure someone would appreciate it because it's a nicely done perfume. Seems like longevity would be good too.

It does smell REALLY similar to the OG whiff of a waffle cone. Not the one with the tiger on it, that one is syrupy sweet but the og has a green spicy and woody quality that the new version doesn’t have and it’s really similar to burning for you by 5 sens on the dry down. On the opening I can see why it’s compared to by the fireplace but doesn’t compare to it on the dry down. Overall I like it and I can’t wait to wear it this fall.

The particular clove like note in this reminds me a lot of smoky fragrances from Wylde Ivy’s fall line like Dead Woods Bonfire except sometimes smokier notes end up smelling too cloying, stale, or powdery like this does on me. At the same time, I would really enjoy smelling this on someone else as I could see it being someone’s fall signature perfume since I think it is still a well made perfume.

I love discocering new perfumes and i had been eying this for awhile. Definetly a colder weather scent. This woukd just be too much for me in the warm weather. It has a vanilla, cedar, amber scent. It comes across as smokey the first few seconds and then dries down to a very warm, vanilla spicy scent. Freat cold weather scent. Only Con: They company only sells 30 ml bottles.

Minty cinnamon sugar musk. Maybe I’m getting lazy after reviewing the other testers from 5 sens, but that’s the smell it has on me. The clove leaf might be reading as cypriol and cinnamon for me. Dries down to a sweet n spicy leathery amber. Longevity isn’t long

This is a close dupe for MMM By the Fireplace. A little smokier top note, but essentially the same afterward. Cozy and sweet, fall/winter in a bottle.
