Above and Beyond

This is beautiful! I visited a niche perfume store abroad sure I'd buy from a specific house they stocked, but the store assistant showed me some other houses I had never heard of before. She probably sprayed around 30 perfumes for me to try, and this one was my favourite by far. I sprayed it on my wrist and told her I would see how it develops on my skin, and probably return later in the day. After about 10 minutes, I returned to the store and bought it. This is the most luxurious scent I have ever come across. It's indulgent, classy, sweet, intoxicating. It is very strong and you only need 1 or 2 sprays but it is not cloying or sickly. The vanilla is smokey and rich, not gourmand at all. The oud is beautiful and the incense really sticks out to me. I have been searching for a very specific 'churchy' fragrance, sweet and old and smokey, and this one is it. It isn't too old and mature, but it is still sophisticated. It is almost a bit sexy without being too young which I really love and think it's hard to come across elegant AND sexy perfumes. I do think it leans feminine, but it could work well on a man. The dry down is also so gorgeous, I am addicted to smelling it, I would bathe myself in this honestly. My mission now is to find a body wash, lotion, shampoo etc that all smell like this because I think I'd use them forever and ever

Pitch black, charred, metallic, bitter, kingly, and spiritual. Something forged in fire, with serious intention. A sharp piece of onyx with a partially burned inscription tied around it, shoved into an oiled black leather pouch, placed deep into the trunk of the most ancient tree in the darkest part of the forest. It's been left there for hundreds of years to ward off something.

#1801 in my “Tour de Fragrance” This is pretty similar to Amouage “Epic Man” in scent but triple the price at $220 for 30 ml and certainly not worth it just to add in an iris note. The quality is great for sure, but not $660 per 100ml great. Moreover, Paris Corner "Killer Oud Ethic", an excellent clone of Epic Man, is out there at $37 for 100ml, so I think paying $220 for a 30 ml bottle of this is just a sucker move.
