Blood Orange

This is actually an amazing fragrance. It is simple, yes, but it does what it sets out to do and it does it well. It is not listed here of Fragrantica, but it does contain actual ambergris and it is prominent from the beginning. It gives the tangy orange a bit of a dirty, sweaty skin smell that elevates this fragrance above the "designer" level. Notes as listed on the ATH web site: "Top Notes: Blood Orange, Mandarin and Tangerine. Middle Notes: Jasmine Sanbac. Base Notes: Musk, Amber, Sandalwood, Ethical Ambergris". The longevity and performance are both excellent. I use two small sprays on my hand after my typical evening shower and I get wafts of it after I wake up the next day and start moving around. As for the price point, I have paid more, for fragrances I like less...

Super nice fragrance. This is a sweet orange with a very natural sandalwood base anchoring it. I do not think it is like his Slut fragrance. I find Slut, and Neon, to be a sharp and bitter citrus with a synthetic style base. While both have their place, I find this to be the better and much more wearable from an office type perspective. I can see the similarity to Viking and I would wear this for the same places. 8 out of 10 for me mostly because it is so expensive.

Has something from roja parfums.the opening it’s rojas’ oligarch and the drydown it’s more Burlington 1819.

Honest Review Time: I love Aaron Terence Hughes' personality, and his Youtube channel. I own a few of his fragrances, and some of them are amazing. Regardless of how I feel about him I am going to review this fragrance with 100% honesty. The opening to this fragrance is very bright, sparkling, and uplifting. It has one of the most realistic orange notes I have ever come across, and orange is one of my favorite notes. After the invigorating opening it kind of goes down hill form there. The citrus quickly fades, and it becomes a skin scent within 15 min. After the citrus dies down you are left with a very light slightly floral, slightly musky skin scent. After about 2 hours it is completely gone. In his videos he literally suggest that you spray yourself 20 times, and he's not joking. I got love for you Aaron, but there is no way I'm spraying any fragrance 20 times, nor should I have to. 1: that would cost WAY TOO MUCH per wearing, and 2: that's just kind of crazy in general. For the entire short lived life of this fragrance it smells very pleasant, but leaves me wanting more. I wish there was something stronger in the base. Also the scent is kind of boring. If it had some sweetness, or a stronger woody base it would improve it greatly in my eyes. I like it, but it is not a love. I think this fragrance has potential but it seems incomplete to me. Check out Tobac, and Arabica by him. Those two are lovely, and have no problem in the performance category.

Got a bottle of this last week. On the opening I got a real strong hit of citrus, very concentrated. As it begins to dry down, it really does have that rich orange note. This is not a light orange its a rich orange with the other notes being quite light to balance it. I do get some floral from this and I do find from what I have bought from Aarons line so far, some of the fragrances do border on being feminine as well as masculine. I think it is unfair to call it a feminine, I think this is a true unisex fragrance. On the full dry down it is beautiful and it does last as 'a bit stronger' than a skin scent for a fair while. It is definitely unique and I do enjoy wearing this. I have also found myself wearing it as an easy win fragrance to throw on wherever, whenever. General Smell Score: 7/10

This “perfumer” has had many misses. There are only a few I consider good ones. This one isn’t it. It’s a typical generic citrus fragrance that any new perfumer with a perfume kit can make. And as is usual of all citrus frags, it doesn’t last past half hour. His Onyx(original not extrait crap), Slut, Dirty Slut, Forbidden and Luna are actually pretty good, I own those and 10ml decants of all the rest. Coz I can’t properly review from a 1ml sample. Boss bitch was a HUGE disappointment and obscenely overpriced. As are 90% of the perfumes he’s concocted. Slut and Dirty Slut were my first purchases years ago and I actually liked them, they were unique and fun. Different from any of my almost 1000 perfumes I own. Then I bought full bottles of Patchouli Noir and Santal Extreme based on the notes(I love sandalwood and patchouli) and I didn’t like either of them. Both smell 90% similar, boring, weird and u can tell he uses the same exact base ingredients in almost all of his first few years of perfume releases. Patchouli and Santal are not horrible, but not worth the price he asks, is say it’s worth about $40 each. He did upgrade his bottles and made them a lot more fancy but that’s really what you’re paying for. The expensive bottles and his fancy sprayers. Sadly a lot of perfumers pull this crap. Roja Dove once said his fancy bottles are often worth more than the perfume inside. And really when the perfume is all used up, that fancy bottle goes in the garbage, unless you’re a hoarder nut. I actually prefer a black opaque plain glass bottle vs. a fancy one that will bring the price of the perfume from $100 to $600(we talking Roja here). If I want to I can add my own rhinestones and paint my own perfume bottles for less than $20. Come on ppl we need to let these perfumers know we don’t want to pay a fortune for fancy perfume bottles, we don’t mind paying for the quality of the juice INSIDE. Most of Aarons minions are only crazy about him because of his looks(not my type) and his over the top cocky, vain and full of himself personality. I can see right thru him. Most ppl can’t. How sad is that?

Total joke of a perfume. Realistic orange scent my arse! I cannot take this house seriously at all, or all the glowing reviews. All the perfumes I got and samples were horrible, overly synthetic chemical messes. This one was particularly disgusting and cheap smelling. Waste of money and last time I buy any ATH. I cannot even be bothered to review the samples as they were all vile to my own nose and the several friends who sniffed them. This house and owner feels like clever marketing with a charismatic face. The actual product doesn't meet the hype at all, sadly.

I got this 10ml sample free with a 10ml sample of Slut I purchased from the ATH site. A nice touch especially as a 10ml sample costs double the sample of slut. Plus it also came with a signed photo from Arron himself thanking me for the purchase which is also a nice touch. From the scent itself I get a very nice strong orange with a honey (amber) base. I’ve got to say I love it... except for the price and longevity. It’s £145 for 50mls which puts it in the same category as Tom Ford’s Private Blends. Unlike the PB longevity is not great considering the price. However it is sold out so I’m guessing not everyone agrees with me. If you want an orange scent get Terre de Hermes parfum. It lasts longer and is considerately cheaper for 75mls. 9/10 for the smell 5/10 longevity 3/10 value Edit. I’ve been wearing it over the last couple of days and am really enjoying it. I find if I spray my neck 7/8 times it has staying power. I sprayed it on myself last night around 9 and I still have whiffs of it at 8 this morning. So will revise my value to a 6/10.

I didn't need to dive into my Fragrantology textbooks to figure out what this smells like: It smells like ORANGE; it could be BLOOD ORANGE. Is it among *the greatest* Orange // Blood Orange fragrances ever created? It's definitely one of *the* Orange // Blood Orange fragrances ever created. As is HERMES (lots of l'oranges; as is BLOOD ORANGE (Heretic); as is STELLA (Toca); as is THE ORANGE TREE (Diptique); I'll STOP there. I figured-out what it is > It's Aaron Terence Hughes' (ATH) Best Blood Orange. It's good; I like it. If you're an ATH fan....you like who he is, what he does, his attitude, his black bottles....this could very well be YOUR favorite Blood Orange perfume.

I'll be honest, orange is not a favorite scent of mine...and this is what it is. That said, he does use a very nice orange in it...anyone who love orange will really love this. Now, the amber notes like to play with the orange very early on. After 2 hours the orange plays second fiddle to the amber. It really becomes a very pleasant scent. Now, ATH does recommend blasting yourself with 10 sprays. You might choke out a sports arena for the first hour or so with that many. I would keep mindful of where and when you're going somewhere before you use this. That said, this is fairly similar to his Slut and Dirty Slut. Personally, I think they give you just a little bit more

LOVE LOVE LOVE this one. It's musky orange done right, has become a real go-to and all-round happiness trigger. It's not complicated, so don't expect it to evolve. It does one job and it does it right. Aaron claims this has 'amazing projection and longevity' - but he's a bit off the mark there, it fades after a few hours- but don't get me wrong, i have no problem re-applying after a few hours. Yummers. Price point i think is a little high for this one tho, 140£ for 50ml? Not sure it's quite at *that* level. I would call this safe for a blind buy.

Zesty little thang. Haze Extreme doesn't have a page, but that's another ATH for citrus lovers.
