Santal Extreme

A very powerful oriental sandalwood fragrance with a creamy and slightly floral facet. This scent is warm and cosy and hugs you in deep whiffs of both Australian and Indian Sandalwood. Along with the floral background I get a slightly animalic musk with the lightest touch of patchouli playing a subtle background role. The other notes to me, simply support the sweetness and creaminess of this gorgeous composition. Formed from only middle and base notes this fragrance lasts and lasts (and lasts and lasts even through showers). Middle Note: Cedarwood, Rose Absolute, Base Notes: Santalum spicatum (Australian sandalwood) and Santalum album (Indian sandalwood), Tonka Bean Tincture, Vanilla Bean Tincture, Patchouli and Musk If I were to compare it, I’d say it kind of reminds me of Orto Parisi’s Seminalis but more deep, rounded, richer, more floral, and less head-spinningly intense (if that makes sense?) If you love that you’ll surely love this. In the long dry-down though it really becomes a lot about that musk. Hence why it also reminds me of the OP. Both the sandalwood and musk notes here are similar to my nose. Sits closer to the skin than I’d hoped. But definitely has a lovely sillage and as I said, extremely long lasting. This really is a beautiful fragrance. It opens up with a little dirty patchouli, touch of rose and a very good sandalwood backbone. Dries down to a lovely creamy sandalwood. Longevity is insane. Projection is a little more close to the skin but very decent and detectable for a lot of hours. I'm happy to see the rating going up too. All the hate votes are done way back when this was released/put on fragrantica. Now, only real reviews and ratings are going to be made, pushing up the rating. I can't believe the seriousness of comments of people saying that ATH's perfumes are bad and similar to drug store perfumes -.-' Get a life ;) I've tried a bunch of his perfumes and I think almost all are very nice, and most of them are very good performers. Blood Orange has the least performance, which is okay for a freshie. Santal Extreme, Homme and Tobacco, Oud & Vanilla (Tabac) are my favorites of ATH. Homme is such a nice buttery gourmand iris! His current bottles are beautiful and of very nice quality too. Heavy, rubbery/velvet skin and a magnetic cap with the logo engraved.

I disagree with the person below. I have tried few fragrances in my days from older transparent glass bottles and newer black matte bottles, and they all have major differences.Yes muskiness in many is similar because that is a signature accord guy does. If you are sensitive to musks, I'd refrain from having 5 bottles with it and just op for the best one and instead get other scents from the range that don't carry this signature accord. Creator of this line is really good with oud, rose and patchouli. I have this one, Homme which is iris based and Luna that is gourmand oud and Boss B*tch that is another one to admire from olfactory perspective and scent complexity. Blood Orange is a good one to try if you want to skip the muskiness. Instead of buying 3x the PDM Delinas for carrying different variation of ethylmaltol and lichee percentage added in it, maybe it is wise to educate yourself in heavier formulas and more complex scent bases rather than lash out on entire collection.

Beautiful creamy sandalwood. Makes me feel loved. Great value for money for a sweet creamy sandalwood. Unisex. I'm a woman and could wear it most seasons and occasions in the UK. Office friendly, baby friendly, date friendly. Wanted to add to this review as ATH is doing some new packaging - it is beautiful. ATH has wonderful customer service. I ordered and paid for 4 samples to test and they sent me several extra to try. Exceptional quality and service. Good value for money.

On my skin this opens with musky medicinal patchouli with the rose and sandalwood coming up a few minutes later. Then slowly the tonka bean becomes noticeable with a hint of vanilla and the patchouli becomes more prominent and chocolatey later on. This is warm and comforting fragrance projection on me is moderate at best and sits close to skin after an hour. Better used as layering imo. A must for sandalwood and patch lovers. The quality is definitely there. 👌

This is damn beautiful, I’m a man and I smell awesome with this on , it will last on my skin till I wash it off and projects ok for an hour or 2 but I feel it leaves a nice sillage , unisex. I get creamy buttery sandal and vanillas with a gentle spice , maybe from the patchouli and the rose seems to be in the background, Beautiful 8.5/10

I got a sweet piece of ass while wearing this at a club this weekend and all she kept saying was how delicious I smelled! It's so creamy and yummy and radiates an intoxicating hue of sex appeal and manliness! I love this and Aaron Terence Hughes deserves props where they are due. What more can I really say

I have yet to find a fragrance from ATH that I don't like. This one is like a warm blanket, just as he says. So creamy, soothing, relaxing and beautiful. If you are not wearing this to cuddle with your significant other, you will be soon, lol!

I don’t know many sandalwood fragrances. So this is my first time with natural sandalwood. Omg. It’s beautiful, cozy and warm. Projects and lasts. It’s chocolaty. It’s Woody. It’s a bit powdery. Definitely unisex,

I love this. Warm creamy sandalwood. Very pleasant. I love perfumes that have staying power and this one does. I only bought the 10ml size. Will definitely upsize this one.

So RottigrlNYC you originally hated this perfume and then you love it and have some to sell on the grey market. Something smells fishy and it isn't the fragrance.

I’m not sure what is in this that smells so strong, but it has that ATH vibe about it, like one spray is more than enough if you still want to be able to breathe... I get a lot of sweetness on my skin, which is a pleasant surprise; plenty of vanilla in this. I wish I got more sandalwood, considering there’s 3 sandalwood notes listed above I really expected a lingering sandalwood scent, but while I do get a woody tonka and vanilla, I don’t instantly recognise it as sandalwood. Will see how it wears over the day.

Really nice, soft, cozy parfume. It reminds me strongly of TF Plum Japonais, but more acidic and not inscenty. I can certainly see how ATH is inspired by TF. Not saying it's a clone or anything, put it could definitely pass as Plum Japonais flanker.

Don’t listen to the lies of his minions. This perfume is awful. It’s very musk heavy and it smells so cheap, like those $10 drug store perfumes. I got samples of all his perfumes and they all smell the same, it’s unreal. There are maybe very very slight differences. This is something a novice with a perfume making kit would make. Because he’s a good looking man with a narcissistic out there personality he’s got a cult following, but it’s definitely not because of his perfumes. Too many ppl fall for his act. And the prices of some of his perfumes are just outrageous. None of them are worth it. I don’t believe he’s using the notes he claims to use and yes some do last freakishly long, which is not always a good thing. I suggest sampling. But he made sure that even his samples are very very expensive. I’m just incredulous at how all his perfumes basically smell the same. I’ve never seen such a thing . Get samples and you’ll see what I mean. It’s hard to find honest reviews of his perfumes, even on YouTube, he’s sent everyone free bottles and none of them want to bash a fellow YouTuber. A lot of these reviewers also get paid to lie. This is why I stress to everyone to get samples, nothing from this brand is blind buy safe.

I have a back up bottle of this beautiful fragrance. First release. I bought these bottles as soon as MaxAroma had them in. I love his first early releases. I’m selling my backup. It’s a shame, it’s one of the most beautiful patchouli, chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla fragrances I’ve ever smelt. . I have a back up for sale as well. Patchouli Noir notes: Top Note is Bergamot. Middle notes are Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Coconut, Ginger and Woods. Base Notes are Patchouli, Sensual skin accord, Almond, Bourbon vanilla, Dark chocolate, Rum and Tonka bean

Extremely overstated mix of Sandalwood, patchouli an cloying vanilla musk. Jammy synthesis of rose and tonka nuance. Gets worse as it wears.

I don’t know what aroma chemical or fixative or combo of them is the culprit but for those who are sensitive to it, be warned. ATH is in the same league as Amouage and Tiziana Terenzi, these houses bludgeon me over the head with their brute force and excoriate the inside of my nose before I can even do justice or examine the compositions themselves. There’s a common component(s?) that gives me instant headache and is just too much for me. I wish I knew what it was Ambroxan? Ambrofix? ISO-e? Whatever it is, I’m sorry to do these perfumers a disservice but I think it’s important to let others know, who have trouble with nuclear strength synthetics, so that they can make an informed purchase. TLDR could be the best perfume in the world but couldn’t get past the nuclear strength fixatives to tell.
