Tobacco, Oud And Vanilla

I have the post-rebranding version (Tabac). Many of the scents have been reformulated/refined.I cannot speak to what the original was if he changed it. This is probably one of the longest lasting scents in his line next to Onyx. I sprayed twice on my wrist and I could still smell the scent at arms length 16 hours later. It survived one washing/scrubbing. A very good fall/winter scent. In the summer, you could probably do away with less. Certainly a great night scent but could be worn during the day. This leans more professional/formal but certainly an easy casual wear. More masculine, but would certainly draw attention when worn on a woman. The smell of this scent is pretty much what is on the bottle. Tobacco, vanilla, and oud. You can occasionally get a wafts of other ingredients, namely rose. But nothing to get too worked up about. You get a very strong honeyed tobacco that smells deep, earthy, and rich. This will be present in the scent throughout the entire life. Then you get a very beautiful vanilla scent. If you have any experience with ATH frags, he has one of the most natural, creamy, and luxurious vanillas out there. The longer you wear the scent, the more prominent the vanilla becomes, much like Onyx. Oud- A more pleasant, less animalic Gives it a slightly smokey, incensey quality. It'll last about 6-8 hours but it can extend a bit more when the skin is moist. However, it plays second fiddle to tobacco and vanilla once the scent settles down. I started picking up a peppery note about 5-6 hours into the scent which I believe is the oud as that's common with many oud oils. Anyone who loves tobacco scents will certainly love this. A non-challenging, easy to wear beast.

This is my favorite of his entire line. Instantly fell in love with it when I tried it and there was nothing else I wanted to wear for a good couple weeks after. Total perfection. Bought a bottle soon enough and have been wearing it often the last few months. So, the scent. It's rich, warm, organic, comfortable. Smells like a strong, reliable character. Beautiful. It opens up full blast. Imagine the sweet spot of fragrances to be at 100%, dying down to a zero. Some start at 100 or less, this one opens up at 110%. Slightly overbearing in the first minutes, but it feels like it only makes it sit around that sweet spot for longer. It has a strong oud in that tangy woody sense and I'm also getting some civet in that opening. I picture a big log of living, breathing wood under my nose when I smell this. Slightly floral and a touch minty. The tobacco leaf adds a lot of richness and some bitterness. This ties into the oud perfectly and the vanilla is the stuff from dreams. It's thick and creamy and stands proudly among quite heavy and assertive notes and gives it a beautiful lift, making this very wearable. The magic of this is that I can objectively wrap my head around why I love this so much; These are all notes I adore, but it also has an instinctive pull to where it taps into some unconscious thing and I have quite the visceral longing for it whenever I smell it. The performance is like nothing else, you'll smell this throughout your night, even when applied early in the morning.

I had a 10 ml of Tabac. Now I have looked through the comments and honestly it's amazing the amount of different perceptions we can have on a scent! Here's mine: As anyone who is in the "frag game" knows unsolicited compliments are unicorns, generally people compliment you because they know you are into fragrances and/or you ask them what they think. This scent garnered me unsolicited comments! For the scent itself I think the people in the comments saying it's more oud and vanilla than tobacco are not wrong, however it is still built like a tobacco fragrance. And it is a fragrance that takes itself seriously, but not to a absurd degree. I found it classy, easy to wear, easy to pull off, and very very safe. There is nothing skanky, dirty or harsh here. Honestly I wouldn't even say it's on the mature side, not anymore than PdM Herod. I would say that it is monolithic though, what you smell at the start is what you get throughout. Performance is great, big projection and longevity. The downside will obviously be the price. It is immensely expensive for what it is, if it were priced as PdM or similar mass appealing niche brands I would not have thought twice about ordering. As it is, it's hard to justify, but even so I will probably get it as I enjoyed it that much! Classy, well rounded, modernly masculine. A big like! If not for the price, it would be a love.

Reviewing 2022 version called “tabac”. Ok so this is for REAL tobacco lovers. Not people who like tobacco fragrances, this is for people who love tobacco. The opening reminds me of very rich aged tobacco with the sickly sweet side of some nice honey. The dry down is like a flue cured tobacco, I don’t see any smoke notes listed but I am getting kind of a Smokey vibe, like birch tar or maybe even amyris. The vanilla is present throughout the whole fragrance but never overshadows the tobacco. The Oud and rose are beautiful but not too “oudy” for Oud haters, also the Oud aaron uses in his fragrances is a really nice clean oud. Something about oud, tobacco and rose that just goes together seamlessly, and this fragrance is no exception. Almost a photorealistic treatment of tobacco. If you think herod is a tobacco fragrance, you probably wouldn’t like this one. This one is real tobacco. Some people might not get the opening, but the drydown is a crowd pleaser. Id call this a winter fall fragrance although by circumstance, i used this one on a hot sweaty day and at no point was it cloying or too sweet, although I’d imagine the opening might be challenging. Spray before you go out at night and you’ll still smell yourself in the morning. Very manly, room commanding presence.

This is renamed Tabac. If I only had to own one ATH scent then it is this one. Beast made Tobacco, Vanilla and Oud. The Oud here is quite pleasant. Not like Bortnikoff Lao Oud at all. I tried that and it was too barnyard for me. ATH Tabac is more well rounded with the Oud. The Vanilla and Tobacco make it not as barnyard. Although you can sort of smell it through it all. Not by much. I don't pick up any Rose. If it's in there then it's more of a stability agent. Absolutely excellent. Very hard to find in the US. ATH might not ship to the US due to shipping costs. I found one bottle in the US already. Quite pricy. In no way is this like Frederic Malle Musc Ravageur. Which I do like Musc Ravageur too. There are two formulations of this. One with a silver plaque on it. No diamonds on the cap. This one has a more airy vanilla tincture scent. The current Tabac has a Vanilla Absolute note. This means it is closer to the skin. This formulation has diamonds on the top cap I like both versions but the first version i prefer if I had choose. I did order a Tabac Extreme sample too and that one is a Cherry Tobacco Vanille type. Quite different from Tabac. Not a as scent at all. More Cherry Gourmand mixed with TF Tobacco Vanille in a way. I do prefer Tabac over Tabac Extreme.

I have the newest version of this which was renamed "Tabac" which has been reformulated and refined since the original. *This was updated again recently on 7/29/21 where the vanilla tincture was changed to vanilla absolute per Aaron on his instagram page (The version I have). My review: What a gorgeous scent, I feel that this scent leans a little masc but can be very unisex as well depending on what you wear. The tobacco takes center-stage with the vanilla and oud dancing beautifully around it, the rest of the notes play more subtle supporting roles to smooth the characteristics of the tobacco. There is a comforting though subtly-mysterious, intoxicating feel to this. Aaron has reformulated and refined this scent into something incredible that deserves more attention. *Aaron also has another fragrance with tobacco called Boss Bastard which many people try that first (I presume because of the name), personally I very MUCH prefer this "Tabac" over it but they are very different. *Side Notes: This page needs to be updated as the bottle design has changed much since the picture on this page, both the 10ml and 50ml sizes come in black bottles with metal labels.

ATH’s Tabac (what this fragrance has been renamed as) is easily one of the most realistic Tobacco fragrances I have ever smelt, and I have smelt a lot of them! This one is honestly stunning. Texturally, you can almost feel the dry exterior of a nice cigar as well as just a little bit of ash, but not smoke, giving it an extremely photorealistic Tobacco smell. In conjunction with the Burmese Oud and Cedar you even get a bit of a humidor or cigar box effect which is really incredible. Beyond just the Tobacco, which is obviously the star of the show, you get a beautiful Madagascar Vanilla as well as just the slightest touch of Rose which ever so slightly sweetens up the aroma, but by no means dominates it or makes it come off as cloying or syrupy. ATH’s Tabac is genuinely a masterpiece in my opinion and quite possibly one of ATH’s greatest works. For Tobacco and Oud lovers alike, this is an absolute must try! Truly amazing!

Tabac is what I've been looking for in a tobacco fragrance. Aaron Terence Hughes is terrible at naming fragrances and ends up renaming half of his creations, but he's an excellent perfumer. This is very tobacco intense, but the rose, oud and vanilla add just enough depth to keep this from just smelling like fresh pipe tobacco or a freshly rolled cigar. It's not a good blind buy unless you really love tobacco fragrances. It's also probably not something to wear if you want to get compliments because, while no one has said anything to me about this when I've worn it, I think if you asked women what they think about it, most would respond "it smells...interesting." I love the smell of tobacco, so my opinion is not completely unbiased, but I think this is incredible and can't wait for colder weather to wear it more often. Scent 9/10, longevity 9/10, sillage 8/10.

After rebranding it's now called Tabac. This is some powerful juice. Haven't encountered this much force and longevity ever since Amouage released their Interlude Man. This is different category scent of course but in terms of staying power on the skin and projection it's hard to beat, just goes on and on and on. Hyperbeast of tobacco and vanilla. Oud is present more in the first hours, later on it fades into the vanilla bliss. 11 out of 10 for staying on the wearable side of the spectrum. Well made, well blended, soft transitions, what more do you want in a scent. Yes it is not out of the box vanilla marshmallow that every brand seems to defecate out as of late replacing the fruitchouli trend. Serious competition for any existing vanilla-tobacco combo scent. Price is more than great for this one considering it's gonna last you a lifetime.

I’m reviewing 23 Tabac, lovely strong manly tobacco scent , the tobacco smell totally realistic and dry , I her whiffs of expensive cigars, the oud is there always showing itself on different levels of strength, this opens loud and projects a lot for a few hours, I had a scent bubble for about 8 hours before and sat closer to my skin, I can’t compare it with anything else , I think this is up there with all the top tobacco frags, there’s a lovely vanilla what stays the full journey but it’s not a sweet vanilla, this is not a sweet frag, don’t be put off with the rose as it just blends into this mix pushing out now and then a slightly spicy floral. If you love a tobacco scent try a 10ml bottle you can order from his website

I have the new “Tabac” formulation, not the original. This is going to sound a little weird, but to me, this smells like a fragrance I’d associate with someone in the 1920’s. When I smell this, it transports me to a newsroom in the 1920’s; dirty, but sweet and smooth from the vanilla and tobacco aroma. I suppose I have a similar reaction to TF’s TV, but this particularly screamed 1920’s tobacco smoking newspaper editor, but in the best way possible. Just a very interesting and nostalgic scent! Personally, I think this is excellent, a borderline masterpiece, simply for this reason. It’s a warm, comforting scent, assuming you are comforted by warm and slightly dirty vanilla and tobacco scents.

Simply one of the best Tobacco and Vanilla fragrances I have ever put my nose to and uber unique. This also packs quite a punch in the performance and longevity department especialy on my dry fragrance slaying skin, which for me is always a good thing. I literally can not wait to try more from Aaron's collection... check his youtube channel out aswell, his review's of other frangrances and his sheer insight into perfumery is just amazing to watch. Great voice too ;) Altogether I am extremely impressed with this fragrance and I can't wait to try his Oud fragrance next. Bravo Aaron Terence Hughes!!!!

I have Tabac (new black bottle). Very musty/dirty/dark in the opening but dries down to a sweet patchouli/vanilla/tobacco scent bubble. Do NOT smell this up close...it’s not exactly pleasant. Give it 20-30 minutes and it creates this magnificent scent bubble with an intoxicating trail. Strictly for cold weather date night. 30+ leaning male. Easily 8+ hours on skin. Do not spray on clothes...very hard to get off!! One of the very first ATH frags I picked up and I’m glad I did!! Thoroughly enjoy this from start to finish!! Cheers!

I love this, Aaron really knocked it out of the park with this one. I don’t know if he changed anything up after he renamed it to Tobac, I still have my 10 ml from when he first released it. To this day whenever I spray it on, I only spray once because this stuff is really strong. Out of all the oud fragrances I’ve got my nose on, this one smells the most elegant and delicious because of that chocolate . I highly recommend trying this one out if you ever come across it.

I have the Tabac newer version (name change). I absolutely love it. Not a sweet tobacco scent but a deeper darker one. i have worn it straight and it works great. Most times I layer it with Fuegia Juan Manuel (Rose) and actually receive many compliments. This is safe for work and the sillage and longevity is like most ATH perfumes a beast, so restrain on over spraying. Replaced my tom Ford TV with this.

Amazing scent. Lush and warm, but frisky. My nose is interpreting all that tobacco as some sort of riotously delicious incense. And it is really a 3-D wrap-around scent that completely envelopes you in a beautiful haze that seems to pop in and out of the awareness of bystanders... I just popped into the shops and had 3 checkout operators queuing up to sniff my lovely molecules off of me!

I have the Tabac and I’m a big fan. Originally jumped on the hype monster of TF Tobacco Vanille, which is a great scent, but was a bit too sweet for my liking, don’t like how it smells on my skin. Actually gave it to my daughter, she loves it. This is the perfect solution for me, with the addition of the (real) oud, it adds a lot of depth and character.

2024 Tabac version. Absolutely stunning. Photorealistic cigar tobacco and vanilla. Nice and smooth ATH Oud undertones, not much rose to my nose. Smells similar to Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille to me, only the difference is the performance is over 10x what Tobacco Vanille does. 10/10 if you like vanilla tobacco scents.

Now renamed Tabac. Obviously similar to Tobacco Vanille, I hate that dna. This is smoother more wearable/tolerable. Definitely sample before committing to a 50ml. Not my favorite from the brand. Good quality though. Just the divisive DNA isn’t for me. Avoid in humid weather at all costs.

Got it as tabac. Very oudy at the top. Mid is sweet and creamy, very ATH style. Dry down is the most refined. Where all notes come together in greater harmony and balance. You will pick up oud, tobacco, vanilla and rose and almost sandalwood.

This is how oud should smell, nice honey tobacco, opening is loud but nothing outrageous. Great performance and quality

Beautiful fragrance, daily compliments, long lasting, great sillage do not have to go and look further.

Right out of the gate when you spray this upon your skin you will perceive a really good Oud accord. It smells like rich spicy resinous woods and it sits on a lovely bed of vanilla with hints of rose coming through now and again. This Oud dominates for a few hours until the tobacco comes through. It smells very nice and rich and the quality is exceptional. That Oud is the star of the show because it is real and gives the scent depth. Now it's not going to be to everyone's taste but it is worthy of at least sampling.

Really skanky oud which smells of a higher quality. The musk is this is also nice with a sprinkle of vanilla. I personally hoped the vanilla and rose would be more prominent. Price point 👉 I'd say is an issue here and I'd rather just go and get tobacco vanille or wear Mancera aoud vanille. Reviewing Tabac.Very nice and versatile fragrance. You can really smell the oud, roses, and vanilla. On the dry down the roses and tobacco become more present. Very smooth and silky at the opening before giving some smokiness on the dry down. More complex than the Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille.

This is how I imagined TF Tobacco Vanille would smell like. Aaron nailed it. And Tom Ford should rename his fragrance "Christmas potpourri".

This is a very realistic damp tobacco leaves, spiced vanilla and a backbone of oud. While I enjoy the smell, I find it hard to find an occasion to wear this, I would enjoy more as a room fragrance. Definitely for a mature man, this will scare younger women away.

I have no idea what’s going on! Just sprayed 1 spray on my hand and I don’t get it, it’s not a pleasant scent! Im using the new Tabac btw

Unfortunately, this fragrance is not for me. The craftsmanship is undeniable, and I can see why so many people would appreciate it. However, on my skin, I can't escape a very dirty barnyard-like oud that just doesn’t work for me personally. While it may be perfect for others, it’s not something I can enjoy

I have owned the fragrance for just shy of 2 weeks now and I feel I can give an accurate appraisal. Hopefully this helps any prospective buyers. Packaging - As this is a "One Man Band" with a very small team, I didn't expect much from the packaging. It was clean and basic. 5/10 Atomiser - The atomiser was really poor. Every time I took the lid off, it lifted the casing around the atomiser and leaked. I am certain once the business matures this will improve, but at present, its not great. 1/10 The juice - Now onto the most important part, THE JUICE! This is an incredibly well blended piece of work with real high quality ingredients. The first few moments are extremely powerful, but after a minute or so it begins to take shape. The opening is very special, its like a warm hug and extremely calming. The mid has a subtle hint of Rose with an emphasis on vanilla. The dry down adds more woody elements to the composition and enhances the longevity. 10/10 I mean this wholeheartedly, this is one of my favourite fragrances and a perfect addition to anybody's winter stash. I own almost 60 frags both designer and niche, but this really stands out at the top of the bunch from a quality perspective. I only hope Aaron doesn't overwork and tie himself up in projects that do not enable him to meet the demand. If he has a defined strategy, I really see this brand becoming something very special. In time he will no doubt fix the branding, packaging and atomiser, but lets be honest we are all here to smell nice, not look nice on a shelf.

This is a pleasant fragrance. But only nice enough that I feel uncomfortable clicking the "like" button because I don't dislike it and definitely don't love it. It's tobacco and vanilla with a chocolatey oud. Not offensive in the least; definitely safe for the office. Given how much Aaron pumps up how much he spends on oud, seems tacky and unnecessary, it doesn't have ANY kick. I wouldn't know it had oud unless you told me. The projection is quite nice for the first couple of hours and longevity is over 8 hours. So that's nice. But for the price it is super underwhelming. I bought this along with Onyx,Slut and Blood Orange. This is definitely the best out of those four. Given my feelings on the other 3, that's not saying much. If you get excited to try these fragrances based on Aaron's egotistical hyping of them on his channel, please, when you get a chance, corral all of your horses and hold onto them firmly. You'll probably be disappointed. BUT, if a safe, linear, decent projecting, simple, tabacco-vanilla-kind-of-chocolatey thing sounds good, then I suggest sampling it. You might really enjoy it.

I'm reviewing the original version and this is singularly the best tobacco scent I've ever smelled. Tom Ford Tobacco Oud and Tobacco Vanille both feel like child's play to this. ATH Tobacco Oud & Vanilla has this super authentic, realistic dry tobacco leaf note that smells so close to the real thing I thought I was burying my face in the actual leaves. The oud and vanilla are only there to play support, round out the edges. It's extremely well blended and smooth. The only problem is it sits very close to the skin. I have to bring my nose to it to enjoy the smell. Based on the reviews below, the newer version is more beastmode so I'm definitely curious. Edit: I was wrong about the role oud plays here. In the first 3 hours oud is a support player, but the drydown it's just oud alone.

I've bought two 10ml bottles of Tabac and I love the fragrance. I felt that i couldn't justify spending the money on the 50ml bottle, but after a couple of wearing I've given in and will purchase a big bottle as soon as I can. I love the tobacco heavy opening underpinned by the oud Inn the dry down but my favourite part is when the fragrance is joined by the sweet, creamy vanilla. The oud is not skanky at all, and just sits in the base, providing a fruity, woody foundation for the tobacco and vanilla. Its long lasting with a sillage which lasts for 2-3 hours followed by whiffs which are apparent for the next 5 or 6 hours. I wear heavier scents all year doubs and I would wear this as a signature. An excellent fragrance in my opinion.

Nice tobacco notes and Oud in the opening. A realistic cigar-like smell. Oud is quite sweet. After around 2 hours, the tobacco notes disappear and all I get is Oud until the end with maybe a little bit of a smooth woody note. The Oud is quite strong but pretty sweet. Do get the occasional sour smell. Don't get any Rose or Vanilla though. Have only used it twice so far, so maybe need to give it time to macerate or for my nose to get used to it.

Have the new item, "Tabac," gotten as a gift for Xmas. Social Assassin nailed what my impression was at first. You get tobacco if you use your imagination -- it's there -- but not in quantities, nor center stage that I was expecting. More of an oud item, with vanilla nuances that travel around the oud, with the tobacco within the item after you've gotten past the oud, and vanilla. Still exquisite, definitely a wealthy person's fragrance, 8/10.

Reviewing the modern Tabac version. I have no real concept of the real smell of tobacco, but have always been curious of it as varying notes in perfumery. As an outsider's take on this, it smells to me very much like aromatic tea leaves. Sometimes it can go a little sour on my skin in the opening sadly but on the days that it doesn't it's fantastic. This is to me up there with Homme as best in his collection.

Now called 'Tabac'. Didn't care for this one as it felt a bit too austere and dirty for my taste. Not necessarily animalic, but it's the kind of Oud I don't agree with. This scent is mostly dominated by oud and vanilla, tobacco is there but practically overshadowed by the oud, which is disappointing. Found no similarities with Tobacco Oud - the vibe is relatable to Habanero, but without the feces note.

Very interesting scent this one, yes it’s tobacco, yes it’s vanilla and yes there is oud in there but unfortunately this doesn’t have the kick that i feel the £155 for 50mls demands it’s very very well crafted and blended and it’s a very good scent however not the best performer and I’d say if you want a tobacco and vanilla scent Tom Ford tobacco vanille still remains king here.

It is seriously stanky. Very strong and insane sillage. Definitely a divisive scent. Multiple people told me I smelled awful. Really stanky oud at first but eventually you start to pick up the softer tobacco and vanilla. Personally I think it's great but as most people are not into super dirty smelling beast mode scents it will likely sit unused in my collection

Ok so this is another average fragrance Tobacco and vanilla have been the stars of many fragrances. Adding a heavy note like oud destroys the balance. Tobacco and vanille together are beautiful. Oud and vanille together are beautiful (aseel by Arabian Oud). Tobacco and Oud together can be also great (TF) Now, tobacco, oud and vanille are not good together.

This has been reissued as Tabac. This might be the most well-balanced tobacco fragrance I've ever smelled. The tobacco, vanilla sweetness, and sharp oud are in perfect balance with each other. The sharp opening from the oud is noticeable, and it persists through the drydown. One of the best tobacco fragrances I own. 9/10

TABAC. Honied opening. Mildly boozy. Doesn’t have ATH’s typical, chloroform essence. Strong, fresh pipe tobacco. Opening takes some getting used to. Everything afterwards is craftwork. Once you’re adapted, this stuff is dank pipe tobacco. Woody, damp oud undertone. Rose musk overtone. Nice. Very nice.

WOW! Very original. Different than other tobacco fragrances. Smells like a fresh cigar? It's really lovely if you're into this. Tobacco fragrances to me have regular tobacco fragrances, Dior Tobacolor (smoky, sweetened, dark, harsh but smooth), and this. Definitely worth a shot!

Reviewing the 2023 Tabac, on the opening, extreme hit of tobacco and oud, kinda dusty smelling, then dries into a wonderful vanilla oud note that lingers for a long long time. Insanely good fragrance especially in the air.

take TF Tobacco Vanille which is one of my all-time favorite add bit of oud and bit of rose but not too much. Basically it combines TV with TO from TF and adds a slightly bit of rose and u get the best of both worlds

How is every single review except 1 calling this the best fragrance they have and absolutely love it, yet you ppl are giving it below 4/5 ratings? Something isn't right about this review page.
