Lumière Bronze

I find it so weird how my first impression is so spot on with humans, but so different with perfumes. I was almost regretting this blind buy based on initial reaction. But I appreciate it more and more after wearing it almost exclusively for a whole week now. It's an incredibly elegant take on Ambergris, murmuring in low multilayered tunes, but never falling into the skanky dirty trap, so many expensive niche offerings do. And yet at the same time doesn't scream that shrill cloud of cotton candy ambrox tune (yes BR540, I am talking about you and all your copycats and wannabes and how much I now despise that brain wrenching tiny glass shards in all of them) The thing that makes the Ambergris shine in Lumière Bronze is pairing it with noble Guaiac wood. It adds more depth and sweetness, without turning it into confectionery as amber seems to amplify all the sugary and vanillic notes to cloying oblivion. Also gets the stamp of approval of not causing motion sickness for my travelling to work days

This is one of those perfumes that takes you on a journey and sort of surprises you. When I sprayed it on, it's like a fresh cedar & bergamot bomb, and I thought "oh no what did I buy, this is so masculine."(I'm F 42yrs) But then it dries down and the ambergris comes more to the forefront, a little patchouli pops up, plus there is something powdery and sweet in it as well. I am such a big fan of the dry down...It's cozy, warm, soothing and beautiful. I think I understand what victormarbus, in his review in the comments here, meant with that it turns "powdery and grandma-ish". I agree with him because it def does turn powdery and it reminds me of classic vintage feminine perfumes...lol This fragance is very classy, unisex and imo the shift it makes from masculine leaning to sort of a little more feminine, is very interesting and original. Very happy with it, it last about 6 hours on me, is quite subtle and it's perfect for fall and winter...

Have to double - check to confirm but it is kind of similar to Acqua di Parma Colognia Oud.

Found this at tkmaxx after my sister got a bottle there, I really liked it. After some wears I found out it's not for me. It's quite a powdery scent and while a bit outdated and described as 'grandma-ish' by others around me I really quite like the opening of this. But when dried down I mainly just get patchoulli from this and I rarely like patchoulli. For this review I sprayed it on again, I really like it right now but just know I am going to want to wash it off in a few minutes. It seems like this is one of the many scents that has been ruined for me by having too much patchoulli.

I bought this for myself because the opening is very unisex. However 5 minutes afterwards it takes a sharp corner leaning super masculine woody. I couldn’t stand it on me. On the bright side on my husband it smells beautiful, very cosy and well blended. At least I didn’t waste my money.
