Nuit Dorée

On my skin this is a smooth lovely subtle well blended honey, vanilla(i pick up on a,very strong vanilla note somehow), olibanum mix with some iris in the dry down. When I spray it on it's a little like Casmir by Chopard but less screechy, overpowering and sweet. I don't think this fragance is all over the place. One of the reviews underneath somewhere, stated that this is "iris through the nose of a covid-19 patient"...it's not true imo. Lol. It's definitely subtle, but it's present and the longevity is great (it lasts 8 hours on my skin but could be different for other ppl of course). It takes you on a journey from vanilla to honey to olibanum to floral to a hint of leather and back, it doesn't stop doing that the whole time you are wearing it imo, and doesn't get boring or flat. I love that. This is like the cozy warm vanilla honey scent that just doesn't overwhelm but still sticks around. It's very intimate and feels like a loyal supporting best friend that sticks by you. I think it's rare to find a non overwhelming fragance with this kind of note profile/dna AND has a great longevity. I can imagine this would actually work at an office, or travelling. Most vanilla/honey gourmand-ish scents get overpowering very fast/quite in your face and get too much for the ppl around you often in my experience, but this won't. I don't always feel like wearing a loud scent tbh. Could also imagine, this would be a soothing fragance to wear on an airplane and you're anxious, while not wanting to bother ppl with a huge waft of perfume at the same time. Or even the scenario where you feel restless or nervous in a waiting room, and you can smell this a bit on a tissue/handkerchief or a jumper sleeve, to feel more at ease while it's not going to stick and linger in that public space for a long time... This is the second perfume I bought from Abaco Paris and I am really very impressed so far. Will buy a back-up bottle of this, cause this is amazing! 8,5/10

A bit all over the place and so sweet I'd consider it almost gourmand; I had moments where it reminded me a bit of a panettone or artisan nougat, some moments it feels like a retro amber, sometimes a confusing orange-soda note comes through. Nuit Dorée manages to be both sticky and powdery at the same time, like perhaps pistachio orange loukoum would be. After all of this: is it 'good'. Not really, it's a bit of an amalgamation of effects of the genre, none of which feel very controlled. Other fragrances in this genre I think would be Tocade - Rochas, Musk Ravageur - Malle or (from vague memory) Laboratorio Olfattivo's Alambar. But while they have a similar feeling, this is a lot less smooth and obviously not done by Maurice Roucel . Besides all of this it has a cosy quality that I can imagine people enjoying nonetheless, and I haven't had this experience yet, but I think I might actually enjoy the overall aura of the scent on someone else. As this was a 16 euro blind buy from TK Maxx, I'm curious to see if I'll find myself reaching for it this autumn. One of its merits in this case is the price, and I see it making a 'cosy sweater'-type of daily amber, although I'm not sure if I can forgive it its constructional mistakes.

Not sure if the batch with smaller cap and white label has identical fragrance. The predominate note I get is Iris which is beautiful but very highly strung for me. If it were a sound it would be almost out of human hearing range for me. I have to hold beautiful Iris flower very close to enjoy their delicate but heady perfume. This seems so subtle and subdued and barely there, but after reading thousands of conflicting reviews on Fragrantica it seems clear that the sense of smell is just as subjective as the other senses!

This perfume remind me of Iris Odori which I have too. the different is this is more olibanum. on my skin I cant' detect any patchouli, honey of leather.only powdery iris and olibanum so if you like the olibanum with Iris then this is for you. above average sillage and longevity

Nuit doree - Abaco Paris I purchased this fragrance last year September(2020) and I wore it throughout autumn. At that time I was going through a rough time because I was pregnant but I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks. As you know pregnant ladies have very sensitive sense of smell and every single thing can become nauseating. Not this fragrance however which was unbelievable. Back then with a pronounced sense of smell I could detect the iris, olibanum, hint of patchouli and honey no leather what so ever. However there was also a very strong sweet Citrus opening like may be orange that I could smell but that note is not listed so go figure... Now in May 2021, a very cold crappy rainy day in England, I decided to examine the notes again, I am my "normal self, with my normal sense of smell" so you know, does my chemistry play with the fragrance differently? 😀 Testing the fragrance on paper was interesting... the opening is Olibanum which felt quite dry and slightly bitter, then the iris with its powdery facade then the fragrance turned very animalic, the leather came through and it is the first time I got to smell the leather, the patchouli is not really there but the honey came through eventually and smooth everything out. On paper, it's a rough and rugged journey to eventually arriving somewhere pleasant. On my skin, a completely different story. The opening is a blast of sweet orange like I experienced some months ago, then a slightly bitter olibanum with a dusting of iris, not very powdery at all. NO LEATHER WHATSOEVER, I am a bit disappointed with that part, then sweet honey but not sickly sweet just enough to bring warmth to the composition. I can't say I get much patchouli either. In the end, this perfume on my skin ends up as a slightly dry, balmy and sweet amber. It's sometimes feels like a gourmand but never goes there, thankfully. I absolutely love this perfume, I would say that it is completely unisex, on paper it is very masculine but on skin it's up to your chemistry which notes get amplified. On my husband, this perfume does Not Play nice so he has the Sister perfume from this brand instead which is called LUMIERE BRONZE. All I I can say is this perfume has a character and mood swings worth spending time with and getting to know.
