Chinotto Dark

Absolutely GORGEOUS scent! Blind bought - exceeded expectations. Easily outperforms Acqua Di Parmas disappointing recent offer and is more manly though still unisex. Actually smells like chinotto. It’s secret stopping it from becoming a ‘toy’ or gimmick scent or cheap bottom shelf offer is the variety of ingredients and depth especially on the dry down the resinous base helps keep the left field scent mature and approachable for people whom may find this type of scent an oddity by description. Bright and airy thanks to the constant absinthe (occasionally flitting to and from a eucalyptus scent at first - (is it also in here? I wonder) - green and slightly herbaceous - it starts with an orgasm of citrus and chinotto - both the leaves, fruit and the soft drink. For the first 60 minutes it flirts with a waft here and there with Coca Cola and Root Beer but as it settles beyond that a nice absinthe, citrus top note above a sugary, slightly chocolaty and vanillic chinotto (not too overpowering) on top of a resin base. Awesome performance for an EDT. Don’t get the vote here for poor longevity. Refreshing and warming for winter (like having a Chinotto bottle open in front of a fireplace with maybe absinthe or bright uplifting liqueurs open nearby) though I think great for summer in the evening reminding me of sitting on a wooden decked balcony with a nice breeze at the beach with a chinotto and biscuits nearby. Can finally say my Chinotto box is finally properly ticked. If your game for left field and you like chinotto you’ll be glad to try this especially for the price - it actually punches above its weight... I’m going to try their other one!

There aren't too many people in the USA that have tried the wonderful Italian beverage Chinotto. The taste is not something that is a mainstream flavor here: not much sweetness, bitter, almost cola-like darkened green citrus. If you want to know what Abaton Chinotto Dark smells like, go find a bottle of Sanpellegrino Chinotto. If you like that, you'll love this fragrance! Abaton got the mix just right, adding juniper and absinthe giving it a nice backdrop of woodiness (almost forest-like!) that provides longevity and strength while blending in seamlessly with that lovely bitter citrus. The whole thing is very green of course, but there is something decidedly gourmand about it without being sweet or food-like. I almost get a subtle coca accord flitting around down in the basement somewhere, but maybe its my imagination. Chinotto Dark is simply amazing. It is beautiful in the cold but I think it would be fine in almost any weather. The coniferous bitterness gives it a more masculine character. Sillage and longevity are moderate, but not bad at all. What a great find!

I am not familiar with Chinotto at all, the beverage nor the plant, so it was kind of exciting to try this fragrance knowing I had no preconceived notions. I was pleasantly surprised! It smelled extremely familiar, like cola. But the more I thought about it, cola wasn't exactly what I was smelling. I closed my eyes and tried to place the scent, and I realized I was smelling cola gummies, those tiny little bottle-shaped gummies that I haven't seen since the early 90's maybe? In addition to the gummies, it smelled oddly naturalistic, like herbs of some kind, woods, and a very noticeable note of frankincense, which provides a slight bitterness. I think it's an odd combination, but it works well. It's not a "dark" perfume overall, but I think the reason it's "Chinotto Dark" is because chinotto is a citrus, and if you are expecting a clean and refreshing citrus fragrance, that is not what you are going to get here. I will consider purchasing a bottle. How many perfumes smell like cola at all? Pretty neat. It's like a proper perfume but a little silly at the same time.

I love this. It smells like the most sophisticated version of San Pellegrino Chinotto soda imaginable. Bitter orange set against dark greens and incense and a little bif of vanilla. Very nice.

I've worn this a couple times now. It inspired me to go and try Absinthe. Locating some Chinotto is on the list too. I smell mostly lime/citrus, juniper, herbs, and a somewhat smoky incense. I don't really know what Chinotto smells like but I imagine it's part of the lime/citrus notes that I pick up. I experience moderate projection on my skin and it has decent longevity for being an EDT--with the citrus notes hanging around an impressively long time (perhaps the frankincense). Probably leans slightly masculine but I think it'd be totally fine on a woman. Smells better than anything else I've tried that contains piney notes. It actually kind of reminds me of being in a pine forest in summer in a soothing way. I also get the cola vibes others have mentioned. Considering a FB purchase.

This is largely a frankincense fragrance, to my nose. I get the chinotto and some citrus in the opening, and a very dominant frankincense. To me frankincense is a very zingy and lemony resin, so it goes well with the chinotto and citrus. This is also slightly woody, and there is a bit of a "churchy" feeling to it. At some points in wearing it I get a nutty note...not sure what notes would be contributing to that. Performance and projection are both very good on me. In my opinion this one leans masculine, but I'd definitely wear it.

Very nice manly fragrance, that said it doesn't mean that I wouldn't wear it. At first snif, it felt slightly shower gel-like, but then it became more refined and mystical like a deep wet forest scent. It's a dark green fragrance, clean and mysterious at the same time. I really like it. I keep smelling pine tree/stir tree notes even if those are not listed, maybe it's due to the juniper and absinthe notes.

212 This one is like nothing else out there(maybe). Bitter herbal cola, a touch sweet, a touch soapy, and a dusty metallic note(which I could do without). It’s still good, interesting, regardless. Try it on fabric instead and get breezes from it (don’t smell up close, most scents don’t smell best up close anyway). It works in all seasons too... 8/10 different in a good way. Would not repurchase.

Opens with a harsh blast that knocks you back. Very potent, and as others said almost medicinal. Dries down into a resinous orange gin, maybe a little like cola. It's a little more pleasant in the dry down but that mixture of citrus/juniper/resin is always going to be a little bit of a chemical challenge. Like so many lemon/evergreen scents make you smell Pinesol this has the same effect. I could potentially get used to this but since I only purchased a sample I don't think I'll bother.

I initially take the smell of liquid VIM cooker cleaner and handyman. Chinotto, green smoky incense, juniper and resins. Dry, tonic, alcoholic of absinthe. Green dark with an aurea similar to laurel. A bitter, slightly astringent aftertaste that reminded me of Pino Silvestre, Linetti's hair-gel and obviously a nice drink of fresh Chinotto...but .. sugar-free. Masculine, bitter and ripe most of the time and with a resinous, sweet and balsamic finish as the skin heats up. Not bad.

Squeaky clean incense and resins, which is not all what I was expecting. It's not a bad incense and resins fragrance considering that it is not trying to be one. Overall, "Meh".

Opens with a smoky Sprite/Cola scent which I found overly strong and offputting. Later it calms down into a resin-heavy body with some of the opener left behind. Eventually it turns into an ambery vanilla base on the skin. DEFINITELY not a blind buy - quite a unique scent that I wanted to like but unfortunately didn't

I don't care for this and I assume it's because of the absinthe. But I've never had a scent with chinotto either. I have samples of the other two so after I try those I'll have a better perspective. I will say one thing about this fragrance--it is DARK. Medicinal to me which is not a pleasure.

The opening ceremony took my breath away! A bit masculine-leaning, but it's so vividly striking and worthy of wear. I would do a double-take on whoever passes me by (man, woman, AI, etc.,.) wearing this perfume. Regrettably, this deep sea dive into untouched, emerald-green waters quickly goes 'stale soda' on my skin. The note pyramid doesn't say, but I think there's some kind of metallic note in this that mimics the effervescence/booziness of carbonated drinks which later becomes the scent of raw, sanded sheet metal, and on to make things worse (for my skin anyway), the incense-resin notes amplifies said sheet metal into a dry sweat/old dander/powdery category. So much potential but unfortunately, a pass. I would really love to smell this on another person however, because it's just that striking!

Smells like Smoky Sprite! Actually really unique, slightly refreshing citrus / smoky scent. Found myself liking this more each time I wear it!
