Big Sky

I absolutely love this fragrance. For me it's sexy, crisp, and reminds me of snowboarding trips in the Adirondacks and Gore Mountain! It's truly unisex, so while it smells plenty masculine on my skin, I would be blown away if I smelled this on a woman. Despite a 6 hour longevity, I still have no problem giving it a 10/10. It's my signature.

I really like this scent. It is something I would reach for when I am tired of the ubiquitous floral, fruity, sweet, woody, spicy, ambery or other man-made scents, and when I just want to smell like nature. This scent is different from the mainstream scents. I do however, dislike the scent for the first 30 min. because it's strong and masculine leaning, but when it dries down, it becomes very nice and unisex. It's smooth and well blended. I imagine having a relaxing day in the mountains or by the seaside in a remote area. Being surrounded by nature and breathing in a breeze of fresh air. It's a peaceful, calm and relaxing day. My top favorite, next to Sequoia, from the 3 scent I've tried from the brand. It's unfortunate that Sephora carried only 3 testers from the brand. I love that it has "clean" ingredients and doesn't include phthalates and carcinogens.

This babe was half off at Sephora for Memorial Day weekend and I’ve been meaning to try this house so I took the plunge. A straight forward fragrance, only one stated note per top/heart/base so if you’re looking for something more complex this wouldn’t be your choice, but honestly I get more complexity than that and I think it sells itself short a little. Also a very intimate scent — someone could smell it when they hug you but probably not if they pass you on the street. All that said it’s a solid buy. I didn’t realize that the “scent from the Soarin’ Over California ride at Disneyland” note was a thing I needed in my life, but here we are. 😍 I’d place this one in the cologne family. 7.5/10 noses 👃

This is a tough one. While I love the cool mountain air vibe of this scent it has terrible projection, longevity and sillage (just like another of their offerings). I would also love it more with more mountain air and less vetiver. With all that being said I still find myself coming back to it. I wish they made a higher concentration so I could justify the $84 50ML price tag (I got one for $35). Overall a unique fresh and unisex fragrance that I think fits all seasons and is perfect for the office or drinks after. Just know that it won’t stick around long and is a bit too pricey for its poor performance.

I have searched for forever for something that reminds me of the mountains that I frequent in the summertime-- glacial spray from rapids, bracingly cool air, and an herbal sweetness from evergreens and other wild flora. The top notes in this are not an exact replica, but are the closest I've found so far. There's an almost minty, aquatic coolness to it. The drydown is a bit warmer and becomes a pleasant skinscent. This is absolutely unisex, leaning neither feminine or masculine. I do wish, like with most fresh fragrances, it would last longer.

Smelled great in the bottle- very natural and well matched to its name. But when I tried it on my skin, it really turned to just a scent of cypress and body odor. I think it's just my skin chemistry because I loved the notes in the bottle! It's very long lasting. I tried Crescent Beach the same day and that one didn't turn on me- smelled good and also long lasting. I'm looking forward to trying more from this company.

Big Sky is warm and cool at the same time. A glacial lake and a hay field. I think it’s exactly unisex and a spicier older cousin to fresh musks like 11 11 and Clean Reserve Rain. It’s a smooth and watery musk that opens very spicy, and while it mellows a little, the spicy element never completely fades. All of the Abbott fragrances really last in my experience.

I’d imagine this is what Ron Swanson smells like, while Tom is rocking Dylan Light Blue Di Gio, watching Ron get his wife. 6 pc discovery set at TJ Maxx in the ladies section. 5 are perfectly unisex, 1 is a Sandra Bullocky. (I think it’s feminine, willing to try it)

Very fresh and outdoorsy without being too woodsy. Not pine. On my skin, it is primarily vetiver. Big Sky is not dry or warm like Chanel's Sycomore. Definitely get the fresh and slightly wet element of this one. Very wearable for every day.

Very pine-y, like those little tree air fresheners people put in their cars. It's nice but not my style. I can see someone who loves the mountains and evergreens wear this. But I am a tropical, soft gal who likes more elegance and romance.

Received an Abbott NYC Exploration Set and this is the first one I tried. First, it's odd that a scent inspired by Montana would feature "sea notes" but sure, why not. :) The opening was very piney/woody although there was a definite swirl of spices. I agree with the reviewer who said there are phases that are a bit "air freshener". By the early dry down it's a little sweeter but still spicy/aromatic. To me it skews a little masculine for something marketed as unisex, but it's not smoke-leather-lumberjack masculine, so perhaps for a woman wanting to suggest confidence or power, this might be great. However, sillage is moderate at best so perhaps it's only a statement fragrance if you wear a fair amount. Overall, I think they were going for a combination of woods, spice, and mountain air, and they got it. While I don't think it's for me, it does feel smooth and well-blended. So if you want something spicy and outdoorsy, you might really like this. EDIT: I noticed the review above says this juice caused a reaction for her. I have in my notes that it irritated my skin a bit at first too. So perhaps test this lightly the first time you try.

Got this in the exploration set. I'm a woman sampling this but I think that it's more masculine. It lasts about 4-5 hours on my skin. Speaking of skin, I broke out in a rash after using it. Everywhere that I sprayed has red blotchy areas. I've never experienced this with any perfume. I know that my skin changes as I get older but that was disappointing. I know it's all natural, vegan, etc. but something in it doesn't agree with me. I've used vetiver and spices and the other notes. I suspect it may be the grasses used in it. I know that there is a grass called Johnson grass and many people are allergic to it. Because of the blotching where I sprayed I won't be buying more of this one. I hope for success with the other scents. 2-11-2021: Update on Big Sky....When I was preparing for bed I looked at my skin and saw large red blotches everywhere that I sprayed it. I don't have allergies like this. Going to have my husband try it. I think it's more masculine anyway,

So I tried this at the store and let it dry on me. It is, to my mind a totally weird and original fragrance. Don't even try it if you don't want to smell like mountain air and wood. It is a synthetic scent and these and almost comically on the nose. (By the fireplace anyone?) It had a big open airy smell, hence the name I guess....but also a peppery wood that I didn't like when it calmed down a bit. I won't be buying it, but to fellow perfume-buyers out there that really want to smell something new and different, give it a spritz when you are in the store.

I liked Abbott's description of this fragrance's notes (spice marine, cypress, vetiver) but that's not what I smell when I wear it. For the first three hours or so, I smell a fresh aquatic scent that doesn't smell particularly spicy or marine. It's more like a "mountain air" scent from an air freshener spray. Pleasant, but not a scent I really want to wear. Then after a few hours, it takes a turn and becomes an amber scent that lasts for the rest of the day. That is fine, but I wonder what happened to the spice, cypress and vetiver.

Based on the notes list I though I would love it, but at first sniff at the bottle I thought it was weird. The first day I gave myself a full spray, the unpleasant note didn't go away, but became stronger. As I was riding the bus to school, I felt slightly nauseated, and then I finally realized it was the fragrance. I don't know why I have such a reaction -- maybe I'm not used to the smell of vetiver (this is my first and only vetiver experience) or maybe the odd and unspecific blend of "spices" used in the ingredients list. It's not the marine notes -- for work and school reasons, I'm at the beach every weekday and I like the smell. Maybe I got a bad batch or some that went bad, because all the other reviewers seem to generally like the smell. If I were to reapply this, it would be to try and understand what is so sickening about the smell, but thank the Lord I only have a sample.

A very soft marine/aquatic opening that blossoms into spice and vetiver, which clings to the skin for hours. Clean, fresh, and masculine without being aggressive. This is a polite cologne, very good for a summer's day or office wear, anywhere that you want to smell nice and refined, but you don't want to blast everyone around you with scent. A gentleman's scent.

This is a nice subtle green/aquatic/ozonic scent. The vetiver adds a nice touch, the sea notes and spices give this a more masculine profile, with a subtleness I prefer in men's scents.

I mostly get a woody, airy vetiver. It's very simple and linear but it feels fresh and clean in a woody way. It doesn't smell super expensive or ritzy, but it's really nice.
