The Cape

Update summer 2017: Very hot day and thought I'd give this another try to see how it reacted to my skin on such a sultry day. As I noted previously, sweating a bit really livens this fragrance and brings to the fore a biting ginger note. This is not unpleasant as it helps cut through the thick air and offer a little freshness. Still a simple, casual afternoon fragrance. Nothing offensive but nothing special either. Works modestly in a limited circumstance i.e., cool, misty day, heavy sky and you're walking your dog while thinking about the universe. Needs a little sweat to conjure the ginger and base wood notes.

Blind bought this one and before spraying on me I was nervous it would be too masculine but it dries down on me something very sexy comes forward almost like gingerbready. It opens up very bright and fresh so it’s almost like a Summer take on it. Alone would be great for Spring and Summer but mixed with a warmer gourmand would make a great Autumn combination!

this fragrance leans super masculine, to the point where (just like most from abbott new york city) I think it should just be labeled male. it does smell very good, and I like it on my fiance, but I wouldn't wear it myself. super aquatic & fresh, and it matches the description very well.

It is a very basic masculine fragrance. Opens on my skin with a very strong mint note, with some other greens and citruses. It dries down into a nice spicy ginger and moss scent. Overall, decent but not a standout or unique fragrance in any way.

Mossy ginger. Pleasant but not special. It's the kind of fragrance for times when you want to wear something but save the good stuff for later.

Unfortunately this one is your run-of-the-mill. Nothing new, nothing unique. Safe and pleasant. 5/10

Again, the same thing with Abbott New York City. I tried The Cape in my discovery set today. Again, it's masculine on my skin. And yes I know their products are marketed as unisex. So out of my discovery set I liked Crescent Beach. It doesn't have a good projection and wanes very quickly though. I'm going to give the samples to m husband. Maybe he'd like one on them. So, will continue my search for a long lasting perfume that I like. I'm going to check out a perfumery called The Sage Lifestyle located in California. They use oils and I think oils would help the fragrance project and last longer. if someone knows of a female long projecting fragrance please enlighten an old gal!

Surprised by how much I liked this one. I tried it at Sephora randomly, it didn’t blow me away at first sniff but it was something I kept wanting to return to. I must be a sucker for ginger. It does feel a little coastal but not as much as I wanted. I disagree with this saying it’s too masculine, it feels very unisex to me, but possibly better for a candle than either a man or woman. A like, not a love. Beat out the others from this line & Henry Rose that I tried that day though.

Picked up a travel size last week to throw in my work bag. A safe aquatic fougere freshie. It's like Bleu de Chanel: the Barbershop Edition. The mint and ginger are refreshing and it's very pleasant to spray on during the day for a pick me up. The audacity of the brand to sell this as EDP though. It performs like an eau de cologne. Dries down in seconds to a mossy tree wrapped in dryer sheets and then it's gone. Nice and office appropriate while it lasts...

Out of all the I've fragrances I've smelled from this line, this is my least favorite. It smells the most generic and like a standard cologne you can get at the mall. Been there done that. Aftershave, shaving cream, Axe body spray, shower gel, whatever. Stereotypical masculine scent. At least it smells clean. Don't understand how this fits into the collection, it's so different from the rest.

there is no reason for this scent to be a perfume, its smell is both strong and very generic, I could not distinguish this much from something like axe body spray, strong loud upfront punch of MANLY SHOWER LIQUID FROM WALGREENS then very little development. unsubtle and on sillage and longevity its a much better bang for your buck with the Axe.

Sorry, but no better than any random air freshener from a grocery store..

Another very boring and generic skin scent.

I was excited when I saw that this fragrance features mint, as mint is my favorite fresh fragrance note. Sadly, I don't smell any of it. What I do get is a pleasingly spicy ginger overlaid on a typical masculine fresh accord. Although this fragrance does smell definitively masculine to me, I feel that it's light and fresh enough to be worn comfortably by a woman. I have enjoyed wearing this over the past few days - it lasts me most of the work day without every being loud. I like the ginger in here. It has the overall effect of a ginger body spray for men, if there were such a thing. Pleasing, but without the wow factor.

I bought my husband the Abbott sampler and this was the one he liked best. It's one of the milder fragrances in this line (the other in that regard being Big Sky, which I also really liked); he is really sensitive to smells and doesn't like anything overpowering. I think aquatic is a great word to describe this...its very fresh and youthful. It's not the most unique or memorable scent, but I enjoy smelling it on him so I bought him a bottle of it.

I think this fragrance is getting a lot of hate for no good reason. I really like this fragrance, solid 8/10. Abbott NYC's whole purpose is not to make the next Sauvage or Eros that's gonna fly off of the shelves. The make fragrances that smell like a special place. In this case, it's a winter trip to Cape Cod. This fragrance is great at what it was designed for, and will definitely be my summer signature.

I would gift this scent to my dad. It's the clean and fresh scent that reminds me of him with aftershave and cologne heading out with my mom to go out for the night. Not for me, but I like it.

It's hard to believe that the same nose that created Rien ELDO, created this cheap generic scent...what happened Mr.Lie!?
