Sheikh Al Faransi

I have been testing this one out for past month or so and took my time to review it because this is something that needed time and patience to write about. Still, words fail me to explain how good this fragrance is. If, an auspicious occasion or something of that magnitude can be bottled as scent then this is it. This not only is my favorite "attar" but surely is one of my most favorite fragrance ever. Sheikh al Faransi is a mysterious scent having multiple dimensions embedded in it. Each dimension takes wearer into an olfactory journey which not only is pleasant but also obscure. This magical blend starts of with amber akin to most middle eastern fragrances but layered or i would say dipped in high quality honey. Sweetness of honey remains through out its lasting period welcoming notes like a host. I detect a hint of patchouli with slight bit of saltines which might be due to Oceanic Ambergris note. As the dance of notes continues, sandalwood joins the concoction which serves as final guest of the party. There is a certain balsmic nature to this blend, which gives it a sophisticated as well as mature vibe. Sheikh al Faransi has a pretty decent longevity lasting anywhere between 5 to 6 hours with pretty moderate projection. To be honest you don't need heavy projection as this scent may serve a olfactory gift to those who are close to you. This is a special occasion scent which can be worn in any season. Recommendation: This is a must have in your collection whether you are fan of oils or not. I doubt anyone will dislike it.

MINDBLOWING masterpiece. This is my current favourite from the ones that I have tried. It just keeps changing throughout. What an experience. Starts of with like a sweet ambery woody warm spicy type of scent. Reminds one of a spice market somewhere in the East. you can smell like a mix of spices. Then, later on, it evolves into something very similar to Issy Miyaki's l'ou de ISSY without the sour lemon note. You get some tea/green type of smell with a floral powdery type of background. Further on it dries down to a pine wood+ pencil shaving type smell. It's just mindblowing. For me the sillage/projection on this hasn't been amazing but its certainly long lasting and is one of the most unoffensive perfume oils that you can enjoy at home or work sniffing throughout the day. Especially if you love scents that keep changing.

Oh God why did I have to get mixed up with middle eastern perfumery...? As if the kids in my neighborhood weren't edgy enough, I go to someone else's neighborhood and get involved with all the even worse "bad influences". ...Hello my name is SearchingScent and I'm addicted to Oud, spices, *ahem* kush *ahem*, frankincense, myrrh, roses, and saffron... okay enough with the jokes... This ones' a stream of dark molasses-y wild forest honey with bits of sweet soil trapped inside. Or if that's too difficult or nasty to visualize here... This one's a cold dark chocolate bar with sweet clover honey drizzled on top. Lasts forever projects at most a foot or less wafts only when moving the area applied Smells like a jet!!!! Done. I've been looking for an Oud ambergris perfume for so long, something that doesn't make me gag because of heavy synthetic amber, and I think I found it. I love Oud based perfumes, and I have few. I also had a chance to sniff so many natural Oud oils and I'm always looking to test more of it. Let me tell you, this is amazing. It does have an eastern vibe of course, but not too much incense or synthetic amber that are usually found elsewhere. The Oud is not funky or faecal, so I'm assuming it's Cambodian Oud. It's not burnt so it must be good quality. Finally real ambergris is something that needs to experienced to appreciate. One of the best from AKAF.

Addictive, and alluring, has depth to it. The amber is very dense and slightly incensey, the sweetness is a tad bit jammy and fresh in a way, due to the ambergris, the oud is tamed, there's some black musk vibe with sandalwood too, strangely gives off patchouli-chocolatey whiffs too in between. Overall, the scent is very regal. It reminds me of the Indian "Paan" Desert ever so slightly. But still packs a lot of strength, character, and composure. The best release from this house, without a doubt. It's an absolute delight to wear this gem. 10/10

This is an amazing attar that is masculine and wearable. I get a big dose of pepper, maybe from the ambergris, that is spicy, warm and somewhat addicting. I keep sniffing the spots where I applied the oil. I went with a very light application as the reviews here say it is so strong. I would say I could go a tad heavier on the next wearing. It is masculine, and suitable for all but very high heat temperatures. Don't judge the smell from the bottle, it has to get on skin to really shine. This is a love for me.

I don't have words to describe this one. I can only say it's like a DRUG and I can't stop continuously opening the bottle to breathe this heaven. Ambergris and oud of the highest quality I suppose, very well balanced with the other ingredients. Dried fruits, smoke, spices, amber and musk. It's the best of AKAF and it's unique. Highest quality ever, you won't regret buying it, for sure. Before to open the bottle it's already in the little black box. This is a masterpiece.

lots of warm spices -- cinnamon and pepper mainly, on me -- over a lovely warm amber/patchouli base. again -- like others of this house -- it reminds me of a serge lutens perfume (rousse.) except that this is all that rousse isn't: denser and much better composed, in fact, sheikh al faransi is *finished*, while rousse is only a kind of pale sketch. this has grown so much on me that i just went and procured a bottle. ack.

Back in 2018 i sampled this one along with 11 others, this one changed my mind about Attars, i felt am i crazy what am i sniffing right now..? Is this fragrance from planet earth? That was the point my love story begun with this house, ended up in a way that now i am a distributor of AKAF in Pakistan

I rate this extremely high. This is an amazing frag for such a low price. This is the rare occasion where I would say you get crazy value for money. In saying that, this TYPE of frag is not for everyone but I still think its an insta buy just to have in your collection for the experience alone.

Powerful smoky spicy woody. A tough and masculine creation combination classical incense, exoric flowers, exquisite saffron and oud. Longlasting. Best enjoyed in slightly pleasant weather. Dark and woody. Lovely scent. A brilliant mukhallat (oud blend).

beautiful, dark river of honey over wood and ambergris. marvelous. and yes, i still smell the sl rousse association. but the cinnamon is not so strong on me this time. my oil has aged a while -- and the honey is simply intoxicating.

This stuff is so good I could spread it on my morning toast! In my top 3 & cant ever imagine it not being so :)

Warm woody opening drenched in an Animalic saltiness assuming from the ambergris. I pick up the fruity notes and florals that are listed. With a sweet oud and rich sandalwood base.

Another solid attar from this house

I'm a women who generally stay away from fragrances marketed for men and is very caucious even with unisex fragrances. However, I think this attar is the most gorgeous experience on my skin I've ever came across. In the first hour or two it may be subtly masculine, yes, but on the right woman it can smell unisex from the first second. Then, hours after hours pass and the fragrance becomes warmes and sweeter and deeper. I get wafts from it the whole day after applying the tiniest little drop on my neck. Sometimes I smell something spicy and fresh, it's unisex in this phase, sometimes I get the warmth and feel it rather feminine. In either case this is one of the most sensual, deep, rich and beautiful fragrances I've ever smelt. The only way it could be better is if the oudh would be more prominent:) But I agree that this value is above all expectations for the price.

This is a must-have if you want a true Oriental fragrance that has broad appeal, yet unique to the point that you will smell like no one else. A very up-front honey note, drenched in flowers opens this, before it becomes ambery, then dries down to a cloud of oud and ambergris. It's just absolutely gorgeous, like wearing candied wood on your skin. Literally the only downside I can think of is that it's very sweet, so anyone who dislikes sweet fragrances might be put off. But at no point do you ever feel anything less than a regal prince while wearing this masterpiece. It WILL get noticed and WILL garner compliments.

This is a sublime perfume. Its animalic aspect is what I love most. The grubby sensuality of ambergris combined with oud and saffron is absolutely gorgeous. This also happens to layer perfectly with Songe d'un Bois d'Été by Guerlain, as it shares its oud/animalic/saffron/woody aspects. Very strong, with wonderful longevity and sillage.

Notes: Honey, Amber, Chocolate, Ambergris, Sweet Floral, Agarwood and Sandalwood. This is a majestic scent. Velvety honey with amber combined with dark chocolate and floral notes make this just magical and exotic. A must have in the collection and will be getting a bottle very soon.
