Abdul Samad Al Qurashi Blend

Fascinating what different noses make of this hobby. With love to whoever put this next to Opium Pour Homme, I am layering the two now and the result, while glorious, stems from their contrast as much as any emphasis. Vintage YSL Opium Pour Homme is to me much sweeter, a dead ringer for the sadly discontinued Penhaligon's LP No. 9 for Men. There's no Cassis here. Nothing like the plum pudding side of Lutens Arabie or Brecourt Farah (Haram). Genuinely curious if the following take causes a ruckus: ASAQ Qurashi Blend 800 is an "EDT" tribute (rather than homage) to the 800 pound gorilla of gulf attars, i.e. Tribute by Amouage. This at least for the black box decant in my possession; it takes a wait to persist through an overwhelming top note of ashtray soliflore. Qurashi Blend 800 opens with the same cracked peppercorn and petroleum but dialed back to something perhaps reminiscent of red box Tribute, should I ever get hold of a quarter tola.

About 8 years ago, I bought 6ml of what they called qurashi blend 800, it has a dark green color - almost black, while I was in the shop I noticed that they had another qurashi blend “500”, it has orangy transparent color, first I thought it is a less concentrated version, but they are different. 500 is more sweet and woody without exotic herbs. The one I chose “800”: opens up with sharp cyproil, taif rose & patchouli; after few hours it settles down leaving a nice trail of herbal cyproil & patchouli. It is really strong that it can fill the room with one swipe. If you like the vibes that you get from amouage tribute, you’re gonna love qurashi blend 800.

(Al Qurashi Blend 800) a very familiar Arabian scent which captures the spirituality that's in the air around Middle Eastern Holy sights and festivals. This scent puts you in a meditative and peaceful state. Great projection and longevity. I put drops of this on my beard but I'm sure it's great on skin layered with other fragrances. This is definitely the go to Middle Eastern Oud oil.

So many "Qurashi mix"s and "Qurashi blend"s! I wish the house would give their mukhallats names that are easily distinguishable. This review is for the oil sold as "Abdul Samad al Qurashi Mix" on the ASQ site. Same note list as jazzclrnt gives below. As Guerlinade is to Guerlain and 1932 is to Chanel, so is Abdul Samad al Qurashi Mix to ASQ. It's the signature house base in a standalone attar form. I don't smell any oud. It's musky and ambery, with the amber note seeming to come from a resinous Shamama-style Indian blend. There might be some cypriol that will read as "oud" to many. The richness and depth imply the use of at least some naturals. Easy like for people who like the house overall, and probably the best value.

I ordered the one called "Abdul Samad Qurashi Mix" and then the bottle came labeled as "Abdul Samad Blend." The description on the site is: "An aromatic masterpiece made especially for an elegant and a unique personality. Musk amber saffron sandalwood patchouli and cedarwood all are gathered in one attractive blend produced by ASQ." Anyhow, to me it's a very nice carnation smell (rose with clove) with other notes adding depth in the background.

Sweet golden orange tinged oil (in colour and smell) that's backed up by gentle spices and mildly fruity and woody oud. The sweetness feels the same as what you might experience from inhaling the aroma of dried fruits, raisins, figs or dates, but this is tempered by the woody backdrop. There is also a powdery musk that backs the composition smoothing things out. Solid stuff at the price if a little on the hum-drum in terms of excitement.

Abdul samad alqurashi blend is a potent mix of amber, musk, warm spices and patchouli. I guess some oud is in there too, and a stewed-fruitiness accord. It fits in the traditional attar "oud-rose" category. No subtleties, not much change, but you know you're getting loads of perfume oil. Not the strongest from the line, there are much more potent blends. Still quite lovely. scent: 7/10 longevity: 6/10 sillage: 6/10

Highest quality aged oud blend, extraordinary perfume. Starts off with heavy oud then after 30 mins yellow flowers and ambery notes begin to emerge. As is typical with complex aged oud blends such as this, ASAQ Blend morphs until it becomes a skin scent 9 -12 hours later. Usually ends on me with a dusty dried flower accord. Not for oud beginners.

excellent stuff, as is everything from this house. It is exotic and evokes the open desert air even though its a rich oud and amber blend, but with some rose notes underneath. Like all blends from the house it is different on different skins. Very different in fact. But its highest quality.
