Zahrat Al Khalij

I saw that this was only $6 for 6ml on ASAQ's website, so went ahead and added it to my cart, thinking I liked the green color and I had nothing to lose. I should've listened to @gcmendez - this is actually the worst perfume I have ever smelled. To me it smells like lime and cedar, sour but not in a fresh way, and cumin or BO. After a while you get a little more of the musk, but it doesn't really get much better.

My bottle is a green liquid. This opens with a strong note of lime and a soapy pale pink very high quality rose similar to the rose in Istanbul Roses by ASAQ. Honestly if you smell it from the bottle it is lime and roses. I smell the sharp lemony quality of good olibanum, I think there is frankincense here even if it isn't listed. So it starts out lime and pale rose, a sharper note of lemony frankincense, then a warm creamy sandalwood (maybe it's the amber) comes in to make the fragrance rounder and woodier, I think there is a cedar note here that skews green-earthy underpinning the whole. The white musk is extremely well blended, amplifies and makes the blend richer, I smell it clearly but only because I've sampled ASAQ's white musk--it's a nice use of the white musk. I guess the amber adds to the warmth at the center of the fragrance, which is animalic and vegetal at the same time. It's very natural smelling and compelling, the green color evokes the spirit of the fragrance, I think it's extremely unisex leaning towards masculine. I've heard that ASAQ has a cheaper line designed for western markets. This feels like it was designed for the West, but it's very superior to the western versions of this kind of scent--a luxury Green Sport fragrance. Western versions tend to be cheaper and more synthetic-smelling than this. I've hated some of those, but not this oil. I find this oil very compelling. Each of those components I mentioned above are clearly distinguishable. Their use in this blend is really well executed. If you like Paco Rabanne homme but want what it would have smelled like blended up for a Sheikh, try this. If you like cedar and soapy rose, try this. If you like fragrances that stimulate your awareness and make you think, try this. I think it smells great.

Eew! Disgusting stuff. I was lured by the notes list since those are my favorites. But this one is just a mistake by the house. Starts off with a sour cedar note that made me cringe. I waited for some miracle to happen but the disgusting scent's volume was just turned down. And I was thinking, where's the rose and the other nice notes I was lured in. But then again, never mind it would have been a screwed up anyway. The bright side-long lasting. Just don't get close to me! If you're going for this house, make sure to spend some big bucks on the highly prized blends (which would probably contain oud, which I'm not a fan). The cheapies are cheap for a reason.
