Miami Split

I found Abel a couple weeks ago whilst trying to find some woody fragrances and I came upon Green Cedar by Abel, I got a 6ml to tryout, and with the order I received Abel's new Miami Split. From the name I assumed it was some niche olfactory fad as often happens with these types of houses, so I didn't think much of it. I received the order, excited for my Green Cedar I sprayed it on, let it sit, and I was quite disappointed. It was too green and balmy compared to what I expected. Then I picked up the small tester of Miami Split that came with the package and said to myself "I might as well try it". So I sprayed it on and was absolutely shocked. A strong waft of banana came first, not necessarily green (moreso not super ripe) and then the strong oud kicked in alongside the labdanum. I am not really a fan of Oud generally and I am not a gourmand fan, but somehow it mesmerised me; To the point that I regretted buying Green Cedar and not Miami Split instead. Like the other reviews said, it sounds like it couldn't work but somehow it does, and it works well. The longevity is not bad but the projection is not the best outside the 1st/2nd hour. As for occasion, honestly in a weird way I feel compelled to say that this could work all-year round, the banana pulling for the warm seasons and the Oud for winter and autumn. It wouldn't be necessarily the best fit for cold winter or hot summer but I think it could still work. Although the price is hefty, the scent is simply intoxicating. My fiancee is not very eager to spend money on perfume above £40-£50, and after smelling it she asked me if I would ever want to get a 50ml. Totally shocked, I restated the price thinking I forgot to tell her and she replied with "Yeah I know". So in terms of appeal, let that speak for itself. If you have the money, definitely worth it in my book. Highly recommend.

Wow, what an original + enticing scent - fragrance sorcery 🌙 Miami split is deeply addictive in a non gourmand way (and I'm not even that keen on banana or oud notes!). The banana is dry + green complimenting the smoky white oud beautifully. There's nuance + texture - a nod perhaps to the fibrosity of banana skin... Light + dark...very grown up + very very alluring. If you love woody scents that are a little off the beaten track, you may well enjoy this. Great performance for a natural perfume - it leaps off the wrist + forms a lovely personal scent bubble. Good longevity. This is a special, special scent indeed. It's bewitched me + cannot imagine not having some of it on my shelf!

What sorcery is this? I don't particularly like banana. I don't at all like oud. I'm luke warm on labdanum. I am averse to musky fragrances. Yet I LOVE Miami Split. They nailed it: It shouldn't work, but it does. Only Abel could pull off something so bold in such an understated way. It's sophisticated, mysterious, playful and a tad cheeky. I had the same reaction to The Apartment (which is my all time favorite) - never thought I'd consistently reach for a boozy/cherry/chocolate fragrance but it's divine. This perfume is really fun.

this is so absurdly good ... ???? makes me think of a city summer night, neon yellow everywhere, dark shadows -- a decent bit smoky, a decent bit sugary, + cut through with this smooooth oud + perfectly-ripe banana (i don't get 'green banana,' per say). the banana is particularly so fun and so pop at the beginning, but kinda glad it mellows out and the perfume's story becomes more than just 'banana.' 100000/10.

oh was i influenced by the front page review and i oh do i love it. yes its a sweet oud but its fun and dries down complex enough that i go back for more. yayyy

First impression: hyper-realistic overripe banana, particularly the peel of it, and some smoky oud lingering in the back. The banana shines very prominently at the start on skin, then takes a bit of a back seat and lets oud guide it. Over time, you get that burnt caramel more and more, which combined with the oud gives a almost a decomposing banana, in a surprisingly pleasing way. Then it linearly fades over time. Not overpowering at any point, which is kinda surprising given the oud. I’ve never smelled something quite like this. Almost gender neutral, but it reminds me of a guy completely in peace with his feminine side. Someone who was born in California, from an eastern background, very cool and hip, creative industries, very in touch with his roots too, and balances all out so nicely in his unique way. Overall quite interesting. Not my cup of tea (not one for oud, and I like more “conventionally pretty” scents on me), but one of the most avant-garde interpretations of oud, and the most sincere banana I’ve smelled. *I was sent a little sample because I signed up for that early trial group through their website. I loved being one of the first people to try this on earth!

Miami Split completely surprised me. I never expected to enjoy a banana-forward fragrance this much, but it is incredibly compelling and beautifully done. At first, the banana stands out clearly, without becoming a gourmand kind of fragrance. It immediately gives the fragrance a distinctive character. As it develops, the scent becomes darker and more textured. The woods begin to emerge, and there is an almost incense-like quality that gives it depth and a subtle sense of mystery. What I love most is how, later on, the green facet of the banana returns and blends with the warm, resinous darkness underneath. The contrast is striking, yet the result feels surprisingly smooth, wearable, and very attractive. What makes Miami Split so special to me is its transformation. It keeps shifting on the skin, and every time I catch a new waft of it, it feels surprising again — playful, enveloping, and completely its own.

Do not compare this to JHAG Banana Rush - it is sickly sweet slightly mapley Sephora ambience banana. Miami Split to me is a banana fragrance that, for example, Serge Lutens would do. A bith of a goth, has that charred and dark-woody nuance, even slightly piney from the labdanum? As if you were burning a pine tree and frying/roasting a banana in there. Or burning some birch logs and caramelising banana yourself in the fireplace, perhaps you threw its green peel in there too :D Now the banana in the first minute is quite ripe and caramelised, then becomes greener/green-peeley with all those roasty, charred woods and resins.

I am not a banana person. I don't like eating them, and I am especially sensitive to their smell once getting overripe with brown spots in the fruit bowl. I cannot bear that. I don't know what possessed me to seek out a sample of this fragrance and yet I am intrigued by this scent. It opens up with sweetness from an obvious banana note but it's greenness saves it, it feels tropical. Then some smoky skankiness comes in from a very dry oud. I enjoy this. It smells slightly dirty in a good way with a toasted sweetness. Top marks for creativity and be sure to go light on the trigger with this, it really packs a punch!

Hmm....was not expecting to like this. The banana note did not attract me and while I don't mind oud or leathery notes in moderation, I don't really seek them out. But as the house says, while this fragrance should not work in theory, in practice it really does. The initial hit of banana is very yummy, the brown sugar adds a little caramel, and I keep sniffing my wrist to follow how the white oud and labdanum develop on my skin. These notes turn it into a very grownup gourmand indeed.

This is a very unusual scent which is quite appealing. It’s a tad bit of everything- sweet, smoky, musky & spicy mixed so beautifully together. I’m quite thrilled by it. Seems a bit more unisex, but I could definitely see myself wearing this.

A photorealistic banana split/banoffee pie? The oud prevents it from becoming a sickly, artificial smelling gourmand. Overall a pleasantly surprising and enjoyable fragrance!

This is just sweet oud nothing more. Opening banana last only few minutes. I will return to my travell and will see.

I swear these influencers are lying, there’s no way in hell anyone who isn’t dead or over 80 years old wants to smell like this. This is vile. I would cross the street if a person wearing this would be walking in front of me.

Potentially one of the most interesting and unexpected releases in perfumery for 2026. I have smelled many banana fragrances recently, particularly at Paris Perfume Week and many of the, though well constructed and balanced, lean very much into the creamy, sweeter, more immediately recognisable banana scent association. Miami Split is so different from this. This to me is the Adult's Afterparty serving Banana Split coolness The idea of making banana "edgy" seems nigh on impossible, equally to pair it with oud? It shouldn't work, but it DOES! Initially on opening, there is undeniable "green banana", when a banana is pre-ripe and you still get a stem-like/sappy kind of greenness along with a tart banana, which I personally love. This lingers wonderfully, without being overly sweet but actually very naturalistic. When the white oud starts to come in, this magically mesmerising hypnosis kind of takes over. There's a smokiness, almost incense but not as heavy or inducing, it's more enticing than that. Drying down into a gloriously enveloping white oud/labdanum with a green banana air still present. It's mesmerising, almost pure and yet so playful and sophisticated. This is a scent with journey and development, it changes a lot and differs as you wear it. I think it's genius, it's not trying to be anything else, it's completely its own.

This is really nice! It smells like frothed banana milkshake in the opening but has a slightly unisex drydown. I wouldn't buy it personally because of that but I still like this scent

I love it! Smells like banana bread in the best way. Cinnamon-y and warm, but not overtly Christmassy or anything.

Smells like a veterinarian's office. Medicinal, antiseptic. I get no banana note whatsoever.
