Woods

This is back for over a year now, and from what people tell it's identical to the original formula. Well I can't say I care much, because it smells GREAT. Honestly I get a barbershop - after shave - after shower cleanliness from A&F Woods, and it immediately uplifts my mood. Very similar to Drakkar Noir's current formulation, but there's this A&F twist, more musky perhaps. I get a very soft levander, not your typical powerhouse in your face levander - with some spices but I really can't tell what. Perfect for office or daily use, not offending anyone and it smells just clean and masculine. 10/10. It lasts all day (approx 8 hours) and it projects low. It's one of those low profile ones that makes you think it's gone but seriously, going to shower at the end of a long day and it comes back to life just like that. All you need is a bit moist, body temp. The same goes for shirt collar, you can still smell it after a day of wearing it or while doing the laundry.

I always laugh when I see reviews saying that a fragrance can get a guy “dates” (IYKWIM), but when I wore A&F Woods back in my 20s and early 30s, a lot of people (usually women) did speak up and ask about it. By the time my bottle ran out, I discovered it was discontinued. And then I sort of forgot about it, even after it was rereleased. I recently dusted off an old bottle of Bowling Green by Geoffrey Beene. To me, these two fragrances are very similar. So, I ordered a small bottle of Wood which just arrived, and it definitely smells the same to me, although it now seems like a younger man’s fragrance; perhaps because it reminds me of a younger version of myself. I still love this. And trust me, I’ll be wearing it often.

One of my favorite fragrances....period. Bought new in 97 and continue to use it now. The depth and performance are excellent. Addressing the comps....it’s gets put into that Drakkar Noir family ...Lomani, Duc de Vervins, Taxi, Caesar’s Man, etc. I get it...but this has a citrus that really isn’t there in the others which sets it apart. I don’t get the Bowling Green comp which has so much clove where Woods does not. Is it worth $300-400 bottle ? That’s up to you but if you want to get to 80-90% there, get Dua’s Into the Woods dupe. It doesn’t have the depth of the original (most clones don’t) but it will give you the A&F vibe at a tenth of the price.

@RogueZXRO "Not for teenagers" You got a good laugh outta me. Buddy, this was specially targeted to teenagers and college kids. It was sold in a store that specially targeted teenagers and college kids. It was the scent all throughout my high school back in the day. The majority of the people that buy the new version want it to smell like the Woods....(drum roll) that they bought and wore in high school; and that includes me.

Writing this in July 2023 - A&F has re-released a batch of Woods cologne. I would expect it to be available for a limited time, similar to previous re-releases. Last one had been in 2019 as far as I know. 2017 before that. Maybe they had a release in 2021 that I missed, and they release every two years. But yeah if you’re on this page, you probably already know that Woods is great, perfect for the autumn and winter.

I still enjoy A&F Woods to this day, and I first wore it in the late 90's as a teenager. The bottle I have today was obtained from an A&F store 2 years ago, it is an Eau de Cologne concentration, but it performs like a solid EDT. The scent is wonderful... lavender musky goodness. It's a 'barbershop' scent. It's overpriced somewhat, but it's one of the brand's better offerings, for sure.

Just blind bought this re-released version of the scent I wore when I was like 18. I sold 1/2 bottle of my original version 6 years ago for around $70 and now miss it. We'll see how this smells since I can't even force myself into an A&F store at this point in my life to test.

The currently offered (2018) version of Woods is not what it once was. It used to be stronger.. That being said, it still smells fantastic - a fresh, citrusy, woodsy, outdoors aroma. If A&F would strengthen the potion they would be back to having a true winner here.

My favorite fragrance from my youth. On my third bottle from the original formulation and have been milking it over the last several years. Classic, masculine, goodness! This is what Abercrombie smelled like in the 90's BEFORE Fierce. Lavender, barbershop classic!

This is on par with Fierce, and I'm not sure why they'd discontinue it. Citrusy opening. Very masculine, aromatic, mature, woodsy. Some people would say "soapy" but it's more complex than that. Decent longevity for a cologne. Very nice, love it.

I love this one and it is sad it was discontinued. It is an awesome, warm, classy masculine scent. Back in the days, it was one of my favorite scents. I now have around 90 high end niche fragrances and still find Woods appealing and wonderful.

the goat. nothing beats it... only problem is 300-400 price tag. if by the grace of god you can get your hands on it for less, BUY. it’s fresh, clean, masculine, musky but not overpowering. my favorite of all time

I just received re-release and It's smells really good, old school but not dated, reminds of something like after shave. Masculine, pleasant and perfect for everyday wear.

I just want a vintage 2000s era bottle so I can smell this again. Wore it almost every day in Highschool. Loved it. Took it in my gym bag on the go.

This is one of the greatest colognes I have ever owned in my life.

First time buying this and I love it. A very masculine scent that isn't for teenagers. If you are into simple scents then go with this, it's awesome. It's a barbershop-type scent from 1997 and still smells great. I have the newer release batch from this year. Shaving cream-type scent which I actually enjoy. So if that’s your thing then you might like it.

This is your typical aromatic Fougere. Lavender heavy/dominant that gives off your traditional clean and soapy vibe. Does open with a hint of citrus that quickly burns off. Very linear. Pleasant enough. Longevity and projection is average. Nice fragrance but no where near worth the retail price at the store...unless you want to relive the 90s.

Not my favorite, it smells a bit too soapy for me, like Kouros but without the mythology around it.

Its back! I was sniffing around our local mall yesterday and came across a tester for Woods at A&F. Looks like it was first released in 1997/98 and has come and gone a few times, most recently with an apparently weaker version released in 2010. The notes are listed incorrectly here but are instead rosemary, birch leaf, clove and cedarwood per the company website. Woods was apparently loved in its day and has a strong following with auction listings reaching near $300 for the original formula. Late to the party for a cologne that several probably wore back in high school but all I can say is WOW, this is seriously some good stuff. There are not a lot of comments here comparing the latest release to the original formula but Omg the complaints on the A&F site are one after the other stating that the new one is weak and watered down. Let me assure you that there are zero performance issues on my skin... one or two small sprays on my arm was easily detected from a few inches away after 12 hours. Projection must have been a beast before because this stuff is not lacking and TBH, I would not want it to be stronger and overpowering. my guess is that most of those complaints were from ebay sellers mad that they will not fetch those ridiculously inflated prices. In my opinion, this spicy-woody-musk is an excellent manly active body wash/slight barbershop scent that I love and find Woods to be fb worthy, costing only $48 for 1.7 oz. Sort of an updated Drakkar Noir that will suit old and young alike. Although the website shows that they are out of stock in stores, there are actually plenty on the shelves. check it out before it disappears once again.

I bought a bottle of A&F Woods direct from their website in 2018 for my son and I to share. Now we only have 2ml of the juice left (good for 5 full sprays I guess). I should have bought a back up bottle of the original bottle but I just learned it was discontinued. One thing I noticed is that this really smells so good, the scent was remarkable especially during the dry down with good longevity. I always catch a whiff of this gorgeous manly scent from my son, every time I pick him up from his Adult Ed program in the afternoon. It's beautiful dry down lingers, more so if you spray it direct on fabric or your shirt. The citruses, lavender, vetiver and musk were like an orchestra, each playing a significant role to create a beautiful olfactory experience. To my nose, it doesn't smell dated or has that grandpa's after shave vibe at all. It has more depth and character to it, very pleasant, and gorgeously masculine. Although this was released in 1997, the 2010 release is still available and as one reviewer said, it still retained the same exact scent profile, so I ordered that one for just around $40 while the discontinued 1997 release commands a $300-$500 tag at eBay but Nah, I wouldn't fall into that. Update: Just got my 2010 in the mail and comparing side by side in the opening, the '97 smells rounder and richer and '10 has a sharper vibe but fleeting. I almost didn't catch that subtle difference, but right after that till the dry down, I couldn't tell the difference. I would rate this wonderful masculine juice a 9/10 “Let's spread the scents of peace and kindness. The two most beautiful fragrance in the world” 🙏

I saw this had been reissued this year and even though I am turning 50, I recall my now wife loving when I wore this 25 years ago so I just bought it. I have to be honest, I appreciate this scent much more now. People claiming "lemon cleaner" are simply spraying this on a paper strip and throwing it away. You do get a punch of that immediately, but it immediately becomes a fougere barber shop scent that smells just like I recall the shave soap my dad had in the 80s. I can't imagine a 2020's teen wearing this, as it is a very classic scent vs. the super sweet stuff that's popular now. I was afraid I would buy it and hate it and never wear, but I've already worn to the office a couple times. It's not going to blow your mind, but it's a nice clean soapy smell. UPDATE: Recently bought a bunch of "old school" fragrances and, amongst them, was Drakkar Noir (somehow had never actually owned or knowingly smelled it despite being 50), and I would say Woods is very, very similar.

This is yet another take on the 1982 classic Drakkar Noir. A+F Woods manages to subtract the cruder aspects of Drakkar Noir, while playing up the fresher aspects of it. There's still an element of the swagger/skank of DN in A+F Woods, but overall it's still little, like a flanker of DN. As the scent progresses you'll notice a faint hint of spice in there. In the latest reformulation I've noticed that the longevity is pretty poor. Four hours later on my skin and I could barely smell it. Out of all its Drakkar Noir-like peers (Cofinluxe's Taxi, Lomani Pour Homme, andCoty's Preferred Stock) I'd say A+F Woods is the best. 7.5/10

This was the first cologne I had that my dad bought for me in 6th grade (1999.) I’ve been trying to find a bottle purely for the nostalgia but the resale price is ridiculous even for a severely used bottle (found a 1/4 left 50ml bottle on eBay for $90..... I’m not paying that.) some unopened bottles selling for upwards of $700.... Lol I just remember it being a very heavy woody sugary pre-teen boy fragrance that filled the gym locker room to cover the smell of body odor. From my research, bowling green by Geoffrey Beene is supposed to be close and it’s a fraction of the cost. So maybe I’ll try that.

I see many people claim that Woods came out in 1997. But I know this is not true. I had purchased a bunch of clothing from A+F in 1993 and I spent enough that I had received a sampler pack of three colognes. One of them was named Woods. And it was amazing. I think the other two were Hedges and Forest? All three smelled great. But Woods was a personal favorite. To this day, I do not know if it is distinct from the successive iterations of it. But Woods does predate the 97 release.

I saw this re-release in the store the other day and it immediately took me back 20 years. I bought the original version back when they used to sell it at Victoria's Secret and loved it. This is very close to the original, at least to my nose. Not for everybody, but it's definitely worth a try! Great balance of citrus and spice.

I used to like this alot in high school and decided to buy a new bottle to try out. I am not a fan of this...at all. I don't consider this a fragrance, it's a synthetic mess. The opening is really harsh. It literally smells like a citrus cleaning product. Lavender and whatever else is in here just forget it.

Reminds me of Gilette shaving cream and deodorant from when i use it in my teens. Very safe and nostalgic to me. Young crowd probably wouldn’t be a fan of it but definitely guys who are 25 and up will enjoy it cause has thst classic mens toiletries smell

I got a sample of this on another scent purchase. I like the scent very 90s classic, it also reminded me of another classic I do have by Sergio Tacchini pour Homme. Check it out if this is too expensive......... and that one by Sergio is an 80's classic

This is clearly a less complex interpretation of Dior Eau Sauvage. The Citral, Hedione, and helional accord is noticeable, with a heavy dose of linalyl acetate. Longevity is about an hour, not really any fond here, on par for an edc.

This smells similar to Tom Ford Beau De Jour. It's very masculine fresh, also reminds me of Ralph Lauren Polo Sport too.

Ahh! This was my go to from 6th grade to 9th grade. Woods. I recall it smelled woody. Worst review ever? Probably. 8/10

smells like showergel and slight spicy. Feels clean and little old school-isch. Wow I’m impressed.

Lemon house cleaner. Gonna give it some maceration time and hope for the best.

Abercrombie just re-released this
