White Moss

This is one of the genres of perfumes that aren’t meant to be popular or revolutionary in perfumery, but it doesn’t have to be like that for every fragrance. Acca Kappa is a wellness product and fragrance company, it shines itself with its excellently pleasant collection of fragrances, with the most popular being White Moss. For a creation that is designed to be perceived as clean, fresh, and soft, they have done a remarkable job. As for the breakdown of its composition. Its main notes are musk, juniper berries, lavender, and aldehydes. with the supporting notes of some citrus, cedar, amber, and cardamom that create a slight addition of complexity to the formulation while also creating a good base. There isn’t honestly much to dive into when it comes to the notes as they are fairly quite simple and not groundbreaking which is honestly fine. The main notes immediately provide the aromatic and musky quality of the cologne and other subtle characteristics such as its lavender, citrus, powdery, and fresh spicy notes that elevate its idea of being a soft scent. People’s main issue with this perfume is its longevity and projection which sort of reasonable but there is a reason why this fragrance is on the weaker side. Because it’s an Eau de Cologne. Not a Eau de Toilette nor a Eau de Parfum. And they made it a Cologne because again, the structure of a soft scent fits well with its concentration level. And projection-wise, it is also good that it doesn’t leave much of a trail because it smells intimate which makes the projection to “skin scent” more appropriate. And there are other benefits that people might have missed. This fragrance would please people who have sensitive noses, and especially for people who live in hotter climates, they would lean on fresher yet soft scents to compensate for the blazing heat they will face often on a daily basis. Value-wise, I think for the price of an Eau de Cologne, I think it’s okay. It’s slightly inexpensive for a 50ml or a 100ml bottle so I would believe that it’s still a good value, but its quality is still quite superb. When it comes to wearing it, I think everyone can use this! even for teens as its fresh and soft scent will suit younger audiences. However, there is one thing needed to use the cologne properly (not literally), which is to fit in the idea of being well put together. I have read a review here by stacydtb and she is very accurate with her explanation, the scent associated with cleanliness and freshness might make people sense the user as clean and well-put, it doesn’t mean that you have everything in your life together and running like clockwork, but having a good initiative in the present is more than enough to make the cologne more suit to your like. It is one of the fragrances that implies “inoffensive” and “pleasant” as it is nearly impossible to dislike such a fragrance like this. It is an amazing everyday scent and can be used in any type of event as it is again, inoffensive. Though winter is the only exception in wearing it for such an intimate scent, it still excels during the hotter climates such as in spring and summer, while fall is still good to use. Overall, it is a great scent for any situation, and is one of the scents that hardly any people will complain about at all! Again, I would recommend these to people who want an appropriate scent for school, office, or even at home, and even better for those who live in warmer climates. On a small note, living in the Philippines, a hot climate country, it is very suitable for this type of environment. Oh my god, this scent. About a decade ago, my friend (she’s a photojournalist) asked me to help out with some videography. We went to a deeply impoverished area. There was a road, but even then, you had to watch every step. There were spots where you could literally step on human waste if you weren’t careful, and the ground around was piled with trash. It was heavy, heartbreaking. After we wrapped, we headed to this luxurious mall nearby to get lunch. We entered through one of those fancy department store entrances, and the air instantly shifted. Cool, clean, scented with every kind of fragrance. A salesman handed me a blotter sprayed with something called Acca Kappa White Moss. And oh, it smelled so cozy. I tucked that blotter into the little Altoids tin where I keep my meds. That night before bed, I couldn’t stop pulling it out just to smell it. It was warm and soft and somehow both masculine and feminine. It didn’t smell like anything specific; it just felt like comfort. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I have to HAVE it in my life. I went back the next day and bought it immediately. It became my signature for years. My dad, my brother, my boyfriend, my aunts, everyone was obsessed. I even gave one of my aunts my half-used bottle before she flew back to the country she lives in. But then another aunt wanted it too, and they literally started play-fighting over it. The bottle ended up breaking... and they scooped the perfume up with a mug. That’s how much they loved it. Something about White Moss just gets to people. Doesn’t matter who you are or how old you are, it makes you feel wrapped up in a hug. I even wear it to bed sometimes.

It is hands-down my signature scent since it doesn't make you smell like you have perfume on but makes you well put together. I've been wearing it for over a decade, and it's a clean, sophisticated scent. My 2022 discovery: It's a beautiful layering scent! I tried the Aquolina Pink Sugar on my left wrist today; I left it sitting on my skin for some time to see if it would develop any further. After a while, I couldn't stand the liquorice cotton candy that's been standing out so much from that one, so I had this random idea of spraying Acca Kappa White Moss on top and voila — I can't stop sniffing it! It became a sweet version of White Moss I never knew I would encounter in my life. I then tried the Guess Seductive Noir (for women) on my right wrist, and while that alone is alright, I also tried what I did to my left wrist and sprayed White Moss on top. Also, it made a huge difference! It's now like a mossy Mon Guerlain. From now on, I will keep using this with any other perfume I want to transform!

Blind buy for me. I was initially quite disappointed as it was nothing I imagined it to be and it took me a full day test to figure out I like it as is. White Moss is light and crisp, the lightest frag I've ever smelled. The white packaging and name are justified. The juniper is fresh and not boozy at all, the lavender and moss are clean and airy. There is not even a hint of any dark, bitter nor murky note. It is not all natural but appears so with high quality ingredients blended as they were meant to be together. Sillage is moderate unless applied heavily. Longevity is reasonable. Exclusive use improves both longevity and complexity. I've got a hint of soapiness and lingering citrus only after four days of wearing nothing else but White Moss. Based on this I would say it does not layer well, at least not on me. Highly recommended: If you do not test it, you would not know what you are missing.

Tried this through Birch Box and thought it was phenomenal. I think someone else mentioned the sensation of being in an incredibly clean, lavish hotel, and I agree except this hotel is located in the sky amidst lemon-scented clouds --beautifully citrusy, ozonic and breezy, and cottony clean. It reminds me of Bond No. 9's Bleecker Street although that is perhaps sweeter than the Acca Kappa, feeling more like candy than fresh linen. White Moss fades fairly quickly and has light sillage. I think it would make a tremendous work fragrance (unisex and for pretty much any age), but keep the bottle with you. If you enjoy clean, citrus fragrances, I absolutely recommend trying this.

I am on my third bottle of White Moss and it is the scent for which I get the most compliments. You can't overspray this and it's what I wear if I want something light. It's like a clean white cotton shirt dried on a clothesline. There is now an Eau de Parfum version available on Acca Kappa's website. Has anyone tried it yet? Update: now on my fourth bottle! I got the chance to try the Eau de Parfum. It's much the same but a stronger version. Either would do if you are on the hunt for this!

This fragrance is very clean and fresh- it's a great choice for anyone working in the health care field; the sillage is close and and even then the scent is not overpowering. My patients tell me all the time that I always smell so good, but never ask what perfume I am wearing. It smells a little bit like a cleaner, lighter TOVA- the original one- which is impossible to get now. My only problem with this perfume is that my sons love it as much as I do!

This is a great, great, great clean scent! This is a vacation, clean hotel room and weekend morning in the bottle. For some reason, I associate this cologne with weekends and vacations:). It smells so natural, uplifting, clean and expensive! If you want to know what the cleanliness smells like, this cologne is a must try! The performance is not the greatest, but being able to smell that stuff for 4-5 hours on your skin is divine!

I can't seem to stop sniffing my wrist! This is such a lovely crisp scent! To me, it smells clean like the outdoors; not clean like soap (if there is even such a distinction). The lavender/woodsy notes -- heck, all of the notes, really -- vaguely remind me of being at a cottage by the lake. The musk is a lovely whisper at dry-down. Yes, it's very light and would need to be either reapplied or layered with lotion.

This is a stunning scent. It is NOT a girly girl scent, but rather extremely fresh and aromatic. I work in health care, and when I wear this scent I have people asking if they can smell me! One of the best! Not very long lasting though, so get yourself the lotion as well

Do we have many male fans of this one? It's guaranteed to get you noticed and in some cases nuzzled. Strictly a day time lick for me. There's not much finer at this price for a daytime flirt with the Mums down the kindergarten. Always works for me.

Fresh, clean, powdery, musky, what’s not to like? It's light and intimate in sillage, but on my skin very long lasting for a freshie, I could smell it for couple of hours no problem. Unisex at its core, you can wear it anywhere anytime.

This is my go-to everyday scent! It's fresh and clean without being overpowering. The lavender and citrus notes are really noticeable at first, but it dries down to a warm, musky scent that lasts all day.

This is a very fresh and clean scent, to my nose. Very Citrussy and musky and a bit of Aldehydes. I like it! I can see this being perfect for warm weather.

There is an odd allure to the smell of soap. I'm not sure where it comes from, perhaps from enjoying a bubble baths as a kid, or just the general societal and evolutionary aversion to filth and dirt. Acca Kappa Muschio Bianco is exactly that, the smell of a really nice bar of luxury soap, triple milled, infused with some lavender and bergamot rind, maybe a bit of cedar, but ultimately it evokes a freshly lathered old-school bar of soap. Technically speaking it's obviously a fougere, slightly herbal slightly fresh citrusy, slightly woody, but its constructed really musk heavy, so it sits close to the skin and stays put for a good 4 hours on me. Unisex, all year round, a good 'incognito' fragrance. Its surprisingly cheap online, so nothing speaks against buying a 30ml and keeping it on you for fragrance emergencies. Edit: this scent has been reformulated and the difference is substantial! The way I noticed is because I bought a 30ml travel spray to add to my 50ml and for a second I thought I had ordered the wrong scent. My old bottle is much more woody and masculine, a lot of juniper cuts through, the new one is brighter and sweeter, more of vanillic lotion-like undertone is present. It almost reminds me a bit of the Endymion EdC dry down, creamy and ambery. The opening is also more citrus than lavender, reminiscent almost of a soda. Overall still very nice, but not as bold and fougere-like.

This is my 3rd time wearing this scent. Here's my take on this: The first time I tried this, I thought it was a floral scent that was more geared towards the ladies. I learned later on that it was a unisex fragrance. I thought I wouldn't be able to pull it off due to my initial impression. As I read from other members, they always advise for newbies to give the scent a chance to develop. So I wore it a second time to the office. It was nice and I grew to like it that second time. It lasted 4 hours on my skin and I had to refresh by mid-day. Still I felt that there was something missing, although I was beginning to like it. I wore it again today, for the third time. Now I'm beginning to love this scent. This time, however, it lasted only 3 hours. To think that I moisturized and even used petroleum jelly to up its longevity. Really dismal. I read somewhere that acca kappas are really designed to be subtle. I guess I have to live with the fact that that's how it's supposed to be. Well I guess next time I wear it I'll just accept the fact that it won't last too long and enjoy it while it lasts.I'm using about 7 sprays of this (which I know is quite a lot to many people). Unless they make an intense version of this... I'll probably just finish my bottle and let it remain in my memory as a nice fresh scent. Really sad that this has poor longevity/projection.

This scent is an interesting one to me. I appreciate its fresh, clean scent. However it doesn't impress me as much as the other perfumes I have tried by Acca Kappa. The freshness of the juniper and bergamot, coupled with the herbaceousness of the lavender and grounding effect of the white musk and amber make a truly lovely experience. I am not usually a fan of aldehydic scents, but I enjoyed it in contrast to the other notes of the fragrance mentioned previously. Over the almost two years of having this current bottle I've noticed the aldehydes become more prominent and now it's all I can focus on when I spray it on me. It no longer offers me the same clean comfort of before, but I still appreciate this for being one of the more unique scents I have owned.

I love this scent but my only complaint is that the longevity and sillage isn't good. Acca Kappa is known for its low-sillage scents so if you want something that commands attention, don't opt for Acca Kappas. Muschio Bianco or White Moss is beautifully androgynous and personally, I describe this scent as simply divine. Nobody will be offended with this scent & I know no one who ever hated White Moss whether they sniff if it right from the bottle of spray it on their skin. When I wear this and someone comes close to me - like lean for a kiss or give me a hug, that's when they'll say I smell great.

This is a blind buy, I was looking for an anniversary gift for my husband, the reviews about this says it has a clean, fresh from the shower scent, so I decided to order it online to try something new, because my husband wears almost the same scents-ralph lauren polo blue, black, polo sport, pony #1, lacoste red, hugo boss and lacoste red. all of them are strong and very bossy. Upon spraying this, I was stunned, it has a fresh, spicy unisex scent. You can wear it anytime of the day. It smells cotton, as if you're not wearing perfume at all. It's so light and simple.

I think the name just made sense to me. (You guys may think I'm having a blonde moment :)) The magnificent dry down in this fragrance is a blend of white musk/oak moss. White Moss! Anyway, I really like this fragrance, but only the dry down. I find the opening smells like artificial, slightly soapy lemon. Sadly this lasts a long time, maybe 30 min - hourish. Once that fades the oak moss comes in strongly and the musk slowly blends in until they meet harmoniously, as one new smell. This is the best stage then it's more musk. Not my favourite scent but really nice

This is my father's absolute favorite cologne. He's been wearing it since it came onto the market in the late 90's and steadfastly refuses to try something else. (Understandably, since this is a fantastic frag!) Even still, I think this is a very unisex OAKMOSS fragrance. Aside from the mossiness, on my skin the lavender and amber notes are most prominent. On my father it smells more like juniper, citrus and oakmoss. You wouldn't guess it was the same fragrance. For this reason I highly recommend trying it on your skin before you buy it.

Fresh and soapy aromatic-has some smell in common with Calycanthus that I can't describe-but it smells "Acca Kappa" to me. I really like it, but it's not a must have for me. Nevertheless it's perfect for the summer, and for an ease on the nose after overdoing heavier and stronger fragrances-I don't usually like soapy fragrances-but this is a perfect "natural soap" as Cherub573 expressed.

This is not me, but it's still nice. First spray reminded me of soap. Herbaceous, natural soap though, not detergent. I've been wearing it for ~5 hours and can still smell it faintly on my skin. It's like a clean soft musk with a sprinkling of herbs maybe. Somewhere in the middle it actually reminded me of a balm or salve, but it's more of a skin musk now.

This HAS to have been reformulated. The current version smells nothing like the smell I am used to. Nothing. The mossiness is gone. My guess is that this is the reason it disappeared from the Acca Kappa website in 2012 only to re-emerge later. What a huge bummer!

Nice minimalistic fragrance, great for the summer heat. Musky, lavender, fresh soapy unisex scent, its an eau de cologne so you have to reapply every 2-3hours. Worth sampling if you like minimalistic, close to the skin scents. Projection and longevity are weak.

I just had a decant of this and i thought it's good for work. It smells clean, fresh, and relaxing. Perfect for summer and very mild. I also think it's a bit soapy and yes, it's musky. but i like this. I'll definitely buy a small bottle :)

Clean soapy freshly-laundered white cotton scent. Aldehydes, a clean musk with just a wafting of juniper and lavender. I imagine a lovely old gentleman wearing tweeds while crossing hillocks with his keen beagle.

I was after lavender, juniper and cedar. But this perfume smells like sweet laundry softener to me. Its just numb. Not energetic or sparkling. Well, not stinky as well, which is nice :)

This is what I wear the night after partying hard, after a fresh shower. It compliments that fresh feeling. Downside is that it's not long-wearing

I'm going to try and not be overly negative here as I'm quite a fan of the Acca Kappa brand; also this scent is too well liked for my critiscisms to mean much. My concern is the power of the fragrance itself. There's subtle, and there's anonymity. I have a small sample (as an aside, Acca Kappa have available a discovery pack of 10 fragrances for only £5 ex postage. What a bargain, why can't more companies do this?) and popped the top carefully. Having read so many glowing reviews I had an expectation that wasn't met. Expecting clean fresh cotton, or laundry detergent, or musky soap, anything; I was met with nothing. I did notice one early review, below, which said the same thing. That reviewer smelled nothing but paper. I made the decision then to splash it on like a cheap aftershave, using about 1ml (half the bottle) and covering my neck and wrists. After a few minutes, possibly because of body heat, there was a faint aroma. This faint smell reminded me of a particular ladies white musk perfume from the 80's, unfortunately I can't remember which one. The following day I tried again using most of what was left but the results were the same. I asked my wife for her opinion and she too could make out a faint aroma of white musk, but that was all. In this discovery box of samples there is the White Moss EDP version. I shall try this soon and post my findings. For now I'm left feeling lost. So many people love this and I'm left shrugging my shoulders. It's not a dislike - there's nothing wrong with the smell if you can find it - but it's a grudging like. It's a pity there's no 'mehhhh' button for fragrances that are neither like nor dislike.

Fresh and clean. Makes me think of Irish Spring and similar kinds of soapy/sporty scents. The juniper and bergamot is redolent on opening, the lavender gives it a more complex herbal note, then it’s white musk throughout. Safe and good to wear especially on hot days, but the longevity is too light that I’m not 100% sold on a full bottle just yet.

A fragrance so mild and understated as to be practically unnoticeable, recalling Churchill's famous putdown of Clement Attlee: " A modest man with much to be modest about." Nice in the nicest possible way. This will be my fragrance of choice on the days when I just want to smell fresh, clean and uncomplicated!

To me it smells like a gin and tonic. not literally but I always think of gin when I smell this fragrance. It is very masculine to my nose, although it's supposedly unisex.

A very lowkey scent. Mostly white musk. Clean and fresh scent.

I really do smell an oakmoss note in here, more than aldehydes. Or some sort of peppery note. There’s also a very clean musk, and a touch of lavender. This is what I wanted Burberry Brit Rhythm to smell like, it has more of a natural from the Earth smell, and that one smelled like grape dryer sheets. This one is also, consequently, so light I have to bury my nose in it to smell anything. So sillage is very weak. Longevity, not so great either. All in all, won’t purchase, probably won’t even try my sample again, it just didn’t catch my attention.

I never liked this even when it was all the rage in 1999. I was given 5 bottles as gifts and I recycled them all. My nose must be broken because all I smell are Moth balls, old stock tissue paper and some cleaning solution. 23 years later I decided to give it one more try thinking maybe my taste has changed and I would finally get the hype. I seriously do NOT smell anything. It smells like paper. Everyone is nuts about this but I just don't get it. With all scents labeled musk I smell close to nothing! Must be me. It does smell clean I guess.

White Moss is absolutely enthralling. I usually find soapy, clean and musky scents mediocre, but this particular scent takes those three qualities to new heights. It has a powdery and crisp laundry smell, however this is surprisingly quite natural and less chemical than you may originally think it to be. The aromatic lavender and musky white woods, is what gives White Moss the unisex edge. It's almost the perfect gift for either a man or a woman that doesn't like anything overly strong or too 'perfumey'. It's very much a skin scent. It leaves those other soapy concoctions like Pure DKNY and Jennifer Lopez's Glow for dead. It's sexy, delicate and airy without being overdone. It smells expensive and niche, and thankfully Acca Kappa has reasonable prices. Natural seems to be the trend with Acca Kappa. Both Calycanthus and this fragrance are perfect, almost like they're not a fragrance at all, but something that has just arisen from the earth and been poured into a bottle. The longevity is really impressive for such a light scent, lasting for around 6 hours. Obviously the sillage is intimate, but let's just say that the closer one gets to smelling this on somebody, sniffing is not all that they will do.

I cannot even begin to describe how much I adore this sent. I received it as part of a care package at a hotel and instantly fell in love with it. For me it's very clean, but in an extremely natural way, it just smells like you. But at the same time it has a warm and comforting feeling. The only issue is the longevity and silage. It completely and I mean completely sucks, and is the only reason as to why this is the only perfume I wear. It's just slightly irritating for I only get compliments within the first hour of wearing it and after that you can sort of smell it but only if you press it right up to your nose. And this wouldn't bother me that much if it wasn't so freaking exspensive. And I still wear it because I have never found a scent I like more, but it's really irritating that it just fades so quickly.

I blind-bought this after reading the positive reviews, but honestly, I was quite disappointed. I usually appreciate all kinds of fragrances, yet this one felt underwhelming in every way. The scent is very mediocre, the longevity is weak, and overall, it just lacks any spark or magic. It doesn’t have that uplifting or “healing” quality I often find in most perfumes. For fragrances I don’t particularly enjoy, I usually repurpose them as a pillow spray, so at least I can fall asleep to a pleasant scent. Unfortunately, this one isn’t even worth that. Truly disappointing (im sorry..) Many people say it reminds MFK Aqua Universalis or Voyage d’Hermes..?? but in my opinion, it’s definitely not on that level.

White musk with an aldehydic top, easy to love, too evanescent maybe. A mix between warm sheets and soap. The natural feeling of juniper and lavender makes it stand above the majority of screechy, shamelessly synthetic "clean" musks out there, and also suggests a different starting point. It is not just an imitation of clean laundry or "shower clean", there's life in this. It is like an italian countryside classic with all the particular notes bleached, over-exposed, mixed into warmness, completing your skin. For what it is, I used to adore it.

It's like not wearing a perfume but smelling great all the time. Poor longevity and sillage, still that clean and fresh scent lingering through your body for a couple of hours is really something to think about. It's something light and delicate that's perfect for everyday wear. A nice change compared to those overly done perfumes. I would recommend it also for someone who's dating. Something safe and inoffensive, but I wouldn't recommend it if your going to a bar or a party.

Fairly pleasant fresh scent which unfortunately smells a bit alcoholic upon application. Citruses, lavender, aldehydes, white musk. Easy to wear, fresh, clean. That's basically all there is to it. The musk is nice but very pedestrian. However, it does leave a nice, clean smell on your skin. Performance is a joke as it becomes a skin scent immediately. Can be worn anywhere, anytime. If you want to smell discreetly clean, this one is for you. 6/10

I thought it was slightly different when I bought a new bottle, and I though my favourite mossiness was gone.. then I read Eos's comment and saw the ingredient "Oakmoss" was deleted here and I am very sure it's not the Muschio Bianco I know anymore.. If you removed the oakmoss here then why still call it a Muschio Bianco? I want the mossiness back Acca Kappa...

This is just lovely. Although it is not a girly-girl scent, it is still feminine and soft, and it is the ideal clean skin scent. Although the longevity is excellent, this never overpowers and actually has a very calming effect on me. I would highly recommend this to anybody looking for a clean, fresh scent!

opens with a sharp alcohol smell, somewhere in the mid theres an armpit smell(quickly goes away) with soapy laundry sheet scent. on the dry down i get earthy or soil scent. performance is around 3-4 hours good for a cologne. leans more masculine.

There's a joke in Asian fragcomms that if you want to pretend that you are not wearing any fragrances, this is the scent to go. If there's a category for fragrances that produces a fake body smell, white moss is definitely the queen, period.

One of the best perfumes I've tried in professional working life of the perfume. I recommend it without doubt. Acca Kappa is a very reliable company to trust. Their products are cosmetic care, aromas are superlative. Good choise.
