Blu Men

I’ve had a sample of Blu EDP for a while now and love comparing it to its brother Dior Homme Cologne. Today I wore both again, and it keeps amazing me how the opening of Blu is basically DHC redone with oranges. Then, towards the drydown it moves a bit closer to its cousin Chanel Allure Homme Sport Cologne, which I don't like as much. So besides the oranges it definitely has differences compared to DHC, by no means is it a copy. But, if you like one I’d be convinced you’re lying if you said you didn’t like the other. The EDP version is similar in its lightness to DHC but seems to last maybe a little bit longer, albeit with only 1 hour of projection at most. I’m probably not buying it for now because they're relatively similar and because Blu is more expensive than DHC (~€76/100ml vs ~€100/200ml). I wish it was a bit cheaper but be assured that you’re buying quality. [Edit 23/12] Bought it anyway :) That first hour or two is just too good, so natural, pleasant, clean and refreshing. I'm looking forward to using it on a more regular basis.

A beautiful and vibrant fragrance. It begins with light, elegant citrus (a blend of lemon and bitter orange) with a gentle marine sensation. Very fresh, clean, and invigorating. In the middle phase, the fragrance has more characteristics of a "traditional" cologne. The citrus is less noticeable, and the flowers and woods are perceived. Then, in the base, a note of ambergris with oakmoss emerges. It's not strident or screech; it has the Italian essence and structure. The projection and sillage are normal, as Italian perfumes are a complement; they don't seek to fill the room or make other people uncomfortable, but the quality of the materials and the fine structure of the perfume are key. Longevity is about 6 hours. For summer, spring, or just to cheer you up.

I own EDT and EDP too, I also owned Dior Homme Cologne. EDT reminds me of DHC - in my opinion 99% similar experience in terms of smell and performance. EDP is similar in the opening (first minute) to EDT, than it turns more floral, I would say it is definetely a unisex. I tried them side by side (arm by arm) in high heat (30°C+) and they performed quite similar on the skin (not very strong or long lasting :D), maybe later, the bottles will change to better perfomance - they are freshly opened. Even if the performance should be 3-4hours and weak projection on the skin, I would buy one of them again. Probably the EDT. I can still carry it with me in the decanter and refresh during the day. They are both beautiful scents.

I’ve bought the eau the Parfum version in Italy and this is the best citrus juice that I’ve ever had. It opens bright and uplifting, than dries down elegantly. it doesn’t projects too mutch neither lasts more than 7 hours on my skin, but it is a pretty good performance for a citrusy scent. Unfortunately My bottle is empty and I can’t find in Brazil, should have bought three of them when I had the chance at that store in Florence

Wonderful perfume, it's like they bottled a beautiful summer day somewhere in the Mediterranean. There is an orange grove buzzing with bees, greenery and fruit and you can see and feel the sea nearby. Perfectly nuanced, no single note screams at you. I fail to see how this perfume could be disliked by anyone. It's also perfectly unisex in my view.

Reminds me of Dior Homme Cologne 2013. While DHC 2013 is more of a cold lemonade smell, this is more of a orange/lemon peel smell. They give off the same vibe but are a little different. That said this one seems to project less than the Dior but lasts way longer. It is very uplifting and one of my favorites.

EDP is thicker and creamier scent than DHC, but still wearable in high heat. Citruses lingers for almost entirety of the scent which is 6-7 hours. Beautiful scent with amazing quality, I actually would take this everytime above DHC. Outstanding

this will remind you of a hot summer day and a nice cold glass of lemonade, it's not hyper-complex its simple fruity and beautiful. I really love how it fills the room. I'd say it's perfect for teenagers in school.

Really fresh and comfy fragrance. Begins with a burst of fresh lemony zest with an orange . After 1 hr settles to nearly like Tom Ford Neroli portofino. Moderate silage and longevity. Worth the money .

Unfortunately, I didn't like this one very much. While it is clearly well blended and terrific value, I can't get past the shrill opening lemon note. It feels artificial and sour, almost like what I might expect from a cleaning product or cheap grooming product. That sour lemon top note also doesn't really fade as time passes, so even hours later, it is the most recognizable part of the scent on the skin. A pass for me.

No resemblance to Neroli Porotfino. None. There is none of Neroli here, or maybe a little. Please stop confusing people. It is a lemony or bitter orange fragrance (I smell more lemons than oranges). Well done and little else. A little overpriced. Longevity and sillage moderate/weak. Scent: 6/10 Sillage: 6/10 Longevity: 7/10 Price: 5/10

Really great scent, but I fail to see how this is for men. ;-) I loved it on me, and I'm a woman. However, my man said it's definitely masculine. I don't know, but in any case it's a very well-made scent with loads of citrus.

A classic citrus cologne but not less fresh and sparkling. I liked it because it reminds me of a day in which, sailing, I fell into the water :)

This is the third Acqua dell Elba I've tested from the 6 samples included in the two For Him sets. Blu starts out with a really beautiful, natural smelling orange opening. It's very refreshing and a nice change from the ever present lemon and grapefruit opening notes. No screechy, synthetic citrus with Blu. The orange note also lives on as it dries down and the other notes appear, which is surprising. The end dry down has the woody accord which blends nicely with the orange. Blu reminds me of the same beautiful orange scent of Concentre d'Orange Verte. The performance of Blu is better but not much better unfortunately. While CdOV gave me about 1 to 1.5 hours of longevity, I only get about 3 hours out of Blu. Too short to be of any use for me. I'd rate the scent a like but overall OK because of the poor performance.

I was lucky to spend a long weekend on the beautiful Isla di Elba. It is still pretty unknown to those outside of Italy, so visiting without throngs of overseas tourists was a treat. Anyway, I was drawn into the Acqua dell'Elba store by the beautiful blue colors and simple displays of coral and sea life. Though they recommended the women's perfume on me, I fell for the Blu for men. It is fresh with all the citrus notes but, I believe it is the oakmoss that sticks to my body at the end of the day. It is warm like a day spent at the beach. I love that it takes me back to the island when I wear this!

I had the AdE Classica and although a nice frag I found it too feminine for me and gave it to my wife and I love it on her. Blu on the other hand is very masculine. The initial blast is of lemon sherberts sharp and tangy but it dries down to a more masculine vibe. I really, really like this. I'm hoping the longevity is reasonable as I have the edp version so I'm hoping for a long laster. Never having smelled TF Neroli Portofino I can't comment on the similarity. A good 8/10 from me. I'll be back to update after a few wears.

i have the luck to have acqua dell'elba shop in my town, they are craftsman perfumes where the theme is the mediterranean sea and islands (elba is a beautiful island in italy). wow this perfume is very bright, very refreshing, very freezing and breezing, with syle. it remind me yes, neroli portofino. projection, sillage, longevity, good. is the fresc on the orange side and not on the lemony side, so a side a little bit less explorated. i like it, i suggest it, maybe is not entirely my style, but is a good perfume. 7,5/10
