Classica Men

I would love this one on my husband as a summer scent. Acqua dell'Elba definitely has something in common with Acqua di Gio, especially when you let the fragrance develop through the first part, which is a bit more pungent. While the Armani besteseller is more artificial and "perfumery", Acqua dell'Elba smells niche, natural like an outdoor summer on the Isle of Elba should be. The seaweed and the rosemary have a distinct aroma that, as an italian living near the sea, feels a lot like home. Beautifully blended, I do not get any kitchen vibe. You won't smell like a piece of beef ready to be roasted, this is more like a relaxing walk along the seafront at dawn, with the soft touch of a fresh wind, that brings the aroma of some generous rosemary bushes and lemon trees that someone cherishes in a nearby garden, and the scent of the sea, salty and acquatic. This definitely gives me the classy and laid back vibe of wealthy italian families enjoying their vacations. Safe blind buy if you like a bit of salt in your summer scent.

I first smelt this amazing scent in Venice when we walked past the Acqua Dell' Elba store nearly everyday and it was the make of the diffusers in our hotel as well. Its a lovely scent which is available in a range of products like soap, home fragrance and perfume/aftershave. When I was in the store, I firstly bought the 30ml eau de toilette in-store but when telling the women behind the counter it was the scent in our hotel and named the hotel, I got a free pack of Acqua Dell' Elba sport scented wipes in a nice little box and thought it was great. The second visit was to get the small diffuser and that time I got a free bar of the classic soap. For a "Jo Malone style" shop, the prices were generous and not too expensive.

Another refined offering from Acqua dell Elba. I typically do not like aquatics as they're too simple, linear, and two dimensional. This one however, stands toe to toe with another wonderful aquatic I adore; Creed's Erolfa. The elegant seaweed wrapped in ocean breeze, creates an aroma similar to those wonderful coastal moments you experience out at sea. The overall impression is a combination of Acqua di Gio, and Bvlgari Aqua, but much more refined. Just wonderful.

I absolutely love this scent. It smells like a walk along the beach on a summer day. It is pleasant and inoffensive. There is a similarity to acqua di gio, but I don't think anyone would ever mistake this for ADG. Classica is its own thing. The seaweed, which I would think would be off-putting, smells absolutely amazing. This is my all-time favorite scent and I plan on checking out more from this line.

On my second bottle. Very low silage, but elicits positive comments when close to a female. I find it refreshing and "outdoor masculine", but wish it was a longer-lasting fragrance. No cheap, but it is quite unique and extremely well-crafted.

I've a small bottle. A light aquatic, think Bulgari Marine, but a bit brighter/less soapy. The seaweed note is subtle, more a whiff of saltiness. Moderate (but not terrible) performance, respray needed from time to time. Very nice indeed. 4/5

This is the most accurate depiction of summer at the beach. Natural and unexaggerated, long lasting but airy. Hard not to like this for late Spring, Summer and perhaps very early Fall. Beautiful compilation of notes.

Love this a lot more than 360 Red. The dry down and performance can't even be compared in the same realm. If you want the ADG vibe this is a great one to try.

It's one of my favorite fragrance! It's 1:1 with the MEXX Pure Life Man! unfortunately the last one was stoped in the 2015.

I can smell the seaweed aquatic notes. To me this smells like the original Acqua dell'Elba stores look.

I keep coming back to this, but even after all these years, Classica is my all time favorite scent.

I had Acqua Dell Elba's Essenza di un'Isola Acqua and it persuaded me to try more from the House. Having spent time living and working in Italy, I'm keen on things that remind me of the positive aspects from my time there and so I decided to try Classica after having enjoyed Essenza di un'Isola Acqua. Classica has a lovely bright opening: lemon, orange, rosemary and a little wood. It's very uplifting. I sometimes choose Classica on darker mornings and days when I'm not feeling chipper because the brightness of the opening helps to lift my spirits. There's a nice moderate to strong opening sillage. Some two and a half hours later the smell is basically the same but with the citrus turned down and a little musk is present and there's a slight hint of seaweed. Four hours in it's broadly the same, still bright, but with the seaweed and musk stepping forward a little in terms of the balance. Six hours in it's a much fainter and fading away. Eight hours in and you have to stick your nose onto your arms to smell it. I find it sticks pretty well to my shirts so it's easy to get a comforting refresher of it during the day. Depending on how much of the perfume has hit my skin on application, I find it tends to last around nine, ten hours. I don't normally go in for the aquatics but this is a very rare exception. The quality of the blend is superb as is the duration so you certainly get your money's worth. It feels both masculine and unisex to me. Classica took a little while to grow on me. At first, I didn't think I would be having a second bottle of this, but after it wooed me in the darker days, it's taken its place as one of my mood lifters at the beginning of the type of day that feels like it's going to be a long, hard, unpleasant day. And as Versace have discontinued The Dreamer, which was my chief anti-depressant perfume, I think this one is currently looking a safe bet to make it to the second bottle and beyond list, when the time comes. Acqua dell Elba feel like a very under the radar niche house to me. So far, I'm two for two from them. I think they're worth checking out.

One might be quick to dismiss this as a yet another rehash Armani's Acqua di Gio (men's) with less of the aromachemical Calone. But that initial impression would be wrong; on closer inspection, it reveals itself to be much more than that. It's less sharp than its predecessor and feels more carefully put together, certainly with better ingredients, no doubt to a larger formula budget. Sure it's an ocean-inspired scent in a sea of them, but if that's a scent category you enjoy, try to obtain a sample of this one. In my opinion, it's one of the best on the market. Received it as a gift while visiting Venice (there are at least 2 free-standing Acqua Dell'Elba stores there) and it's a great scent memory to have of this beautiful city.

I’m in love with this perfume. The opening reminds me of some sort of lemon spongecake, it has a lot of citrus which end up turning into a salty seaweed scent after an hour or so. I understand people comparing it to AdG and I do think that the two perfumes have something in common but they are still different. The seaweed note is truly beautiful, I wish this would last longer on my skin. It isn’t phisically available in many stores but if you like AdG, Classica men is a perfectly safe blind buy for you.

Fresh and clean scent Like a salty aquatic citrus I don't mind it but I'm not hype about

I ordered the "Originals for Him" and "Island Essences for Him" fragrance samples (3 perfumes each) and tried Classica first. It was a total disappointment. I couldn't smell any opening citrus nor the middle notes. Only got a very subtle woody scent in the dry down. Don't know what the problem was. Granted, I might be nose blind for some reason (although I've never been nose blind to opening citrus notes before). In any event, the fact that I could hardly smell Classica, after applying the entire sample means it's a total fail for me. I want to enjoy any fragrances I apply; I'm not wearing it primarily for others to smell. I'm keeping an open mind and have five more to test. BTW, the spritzer is the worst I've ever had from any sample.

I picked this up as part of the beautifully boxed Acqua dell’ Elba Preziosa Collection of five boxed fragrances (conveniently available directly from their US website). The comparisons to AdG are accurate but the AdE Classica is definitely more understated, smooth and beautifully blended from initial notes right through the drydown. Not a blow-out-your-nostrils projection monster like AdG, so if that’s your goal, you’ll be disappointed. Rather, a remarkably fresh and uplifting marine scent with citrus and musk notes perfectly integrated.

Great scent. This can be seen as a niche brother for the infamous Acqua di Gio. Very similiar but the notes aren't blending together that much. It feels they are more distinct , like you can smell them and identify them separately. Nicely done and this is not that expensive. If you want to buy AdG just buy this instead.

All I can say is that this is overpriced. Smells bathroom soapy and the rosemary is way too pronounced. Instead of getting this just get Franck Oliviers Blue Touch, a much better blended aquatic for a lower price.

This is a lovely fresh, aquatic scent to my nose, and it is very reminiscent of Acqua Di Gio. It's lovely for those hot and humid summer nights
