Essenza di un'Isola Altrove

I love fragrances like this- classy, woody, resinous, a bit smoky. AdE surprises us with something suitable for cooler weather, and it’s a beauty. Rich but not heavy; smoky but no campfire; woody, but not a primordial forest. There are several other popular fragrances in this genre, it is true, but the added notes of strawberry and iris set Isola Altrove apart. These notes are very subtle, just barely peeking out now and again, but they provide a beautiful foil for all the wood and leathery smoke. Smooth blending (meaning no bullying by one note or screechy overtones) round out this impressive fragrance. If the notes listed are right up your alley, you will love this one.

I walked into the acqua dell elba boutique in florence and this fragrance stood out to me amongst the rest. To me, I wasnt impressed by their more popular frags for men according to fragnatica. The others just struck me as too designer-y for my taste, but Altrove was by far the most unique in my opinion. Leathery, smokey, juniper - its great IMO. I had never heard of this fragrance house before walking in. They make solid frags and I hope to see them grow in the future

This is in my top 5 of all time, I discovered this fragrance in sienna when I walked into their store (which was very teal coloured :P ) and told them my four favourite notes where iris, tobacco, cypress and incense, when they showed me this I was absolutely in love. It is the perfect combo of sweet, clean and still dark. All year round signature scent worthy, it perfectly blends green cypress, clean iris, warm tobacco and dark incense.

It's pleasing to be the first person to review a fragrance. I will begin by saying this is good, but not for the reason I anticipated. Looking at the notes I expected a lot more complexity built around the leather and tobacco. Both are there but as hints, nothing more. What stands out is the juniper, cypress and incense though no one note is truly distinct. They combine to create a spicy herbal nuance combined with an unmistakable but unusual animalic note (probably the leather). In short this is like a mash-up between Honour Man and Antaeus but not as good as either. It doesn't quite add up to the sum of its parts but it's good. There's no mistaking the quality of the ingredients and the blending. A solid 7.5/10.
