Cashmere Twill

This smells like your clothes drying in the sun on a lovely day and blowing in a slight breeze, the scent that blows towards you is the loveliest washing powder mixed with the fresh scent of bergamot and raspberry leaves, maybe from done trees nearby. Actually I think the washing powder my mother in law uses smells very similar. If I try I can pick out the notes listed, but the overall effect is just that, clean in a floral breezy way with a hint of citrus. I don't want to undermine this creation, which certainly smells classy and elegant, but I wonder if someone buys this because they love certain notes might be a tad disappointed that the effect is just a clean washing smell...? Apparently this contains 'essence of wool..' Ok yep I get whiffs of that here too, I guess hence the name. I must say this is a bit pretty, if not totally mind blowing or original. If I had money to burn I'd definitely buy a bottle, but not sure it's a must have. Not for now anyway,unless I found a cheap bottle.

Something about Acqua di Biella CASHMERE TWILL is not working at all for me. Initially it seemed that it was going to be a smooth floral woody musk, but that impression was abruptly refuted by a harsh veer toward the more and more common category which I refer to as "industrial clean". I am a big fan of soap notes in perfume, but this twenty-first-century cleaning product demeanor is definitely not for me. It's somewhat sharp and green but without being natural smelling. I detect none of the alleged notes of this perfume, many of which I love in other perfumes, including anise, cardamom, iris and magnolia. It is possible that I overapplied this powerful potion with big sillage and industrial-strength longevity, and that may be the reason why I suffered a headache during the wear. But it does not matter, because I do not like this composition, so I have no interest in finding out whether I could avoid the headache through a lighter application. Not for me.

Oh dear. I'm sorry. I'm not feeling the love for Cashmere Twill. (I WANT to love it: kastehelmi makes it sound so intriguing!) My honest-to-goodness best description that I can think of is: on me it smells like mint leaves that have been steeped in boiling water, then wrung out in soiled underwear (or, as my Dutch in-laws would say: something "vies"). I'm in the middle of reading Turin & Sanchez' Perfume Guide. They describe sweaty, fecal, foul odours as being "indolic". Apparently even the loveliest of florals can also be described this way. The way I feel about Cashmere Twill might be the same way some people feel about Eden. I encourage members to try it, and write their review on this page. I'm curious to see what others think of the scent.

I'm here with you Chris. I expected so much more and I had a thought that I might love it, anice is one of my favourite notes, but somehow I din't get it from this scent. It started weird and lemony, followed by extremely shy and almost-there bits of anice and mint. My wrists actually smell like I've washed them with some kind of soap an hour ago. Really shy, almost not-there. A no from me :(
