Ambra Eau de Parfum

This amber is salty. Truly, undeniably so. No sweetness or bubble gum, no smoke, as might be expected. No, there's a certain fragrant dryness as sensed in pencil shavings and oily graphite, orris root, ambrette and clay. But most of all, thick ambergris the way I imagine it without having smelled the real material. Seamud, deep and rich mineralic smell, crossbred with the original Colonia's bitter-floral orange blossom. It seemed force-fed into the fragrance at first and I can imagine it's obligatory for all AdP fragrances to contain it in small amounts; but it surely gives a certain familiar soapy barbershop angle to the saltiness, a bit of light in this glowing dusk of a fragrance. It is salty ambergris, yes, but taken out of the sea, inhabiting it's own space between storms and cozy homes. Ambrarem by Histories de Parfums renders a similar salty amber accord, pairing it with equally elemental oud note. It is more dramatic and somber at the same time, like a gothic driftwood from a Frankenstein movie (love it). Here, thanks to the Acqua di Parma lining, a strange but acceptable balance, or contrast, is achieved. Despite the raw unsweetened nature of the material, it can easily serve as a regular cologne, too

Reading reviews you would think this juice is going to be horrible but I find it very good! I don't get any gross out vibes but there is Ambergris in this and I don't think many people have smelled real Ambergris. Ambergris on its own its disgusting, but mixed in here its a fixative and gives some real depth. It's also got some really nice woods & musk. But IMO the real star is the labdanum. Smells very classy and would pair perfectly with a suit. There's some resemblance to Sandalo, Oud EDP and Colonia leather DNA. Is it my favorite signature of the sun ADP? No, I think I might still lean towards Oud EDP but this is a close second. It's actually pretty similar to Oud EDP but just add Ambergris, cypriol and petigrain. 7.5/10 for me.

I love most of Acqua di Parma fragrances. I am not getting the reason for low reviews. Probably chemistry may be off-putting for someone. This is definitely not the classic oriental amber that someone may have in mind. For me is a masterpiece. I cannot smell fish or paint or animalic, but a cloud of classy fragrance. It is very difficult to describe notes, probably because I have never smelled real ambergris(?). It is mainly dry and pungent. I would love on my husband, although the performance is close to skin scent, something more intimate. To me this is heavenly. Test before buying. 4/5

I received a sample of this when getting my Fico Di Amalfi and was obsessed with it ever since. To me, it’s creamier and more intimate that the Colonia Ambra. It opens very bright and fresh to me, and then dries down beautifully with ambergris and sandalwood being prominent and the vanilla slightly peeking through. My only issue is that for some reason it dries down very quickly on me. I wish I had more of the gorgeous opening notes last just a bit longer. Nevertheless, this will easily be one of the top fragrances for me once I buy the full size of it.

Absolutely enchanting. Ambra shares the AdP Oud DNA but is more salty marine. It's the ambergris. By all accounts this has real ambergris in it, and it certainly doesn't smell like ambroxan. It's dirty-sexy, aquatic-animalic, intoxicating, get-outta-here-if-you-don't-like-it boss man smell. Ambra EdP is powerful enough to survive swimming and a shower, so a little will go a long way. Beautiful creation and a dividing line: either hang out with the ambroxan bombs in the mall, or walk this way to smell life at it's richest.

Fragrance that at the juste pulvérisé appears immediately sour and citrus and then fades and turns into more structured notes boises and épices with a vague hint of rose, the base notes are warmer, resinous and dry. An evanescent texture with oriental scents that on my skin when dry down appears impalpable and talc, pleasant but labile. I have to study it better.

I struggle to understand the low rating this gets. I am cross wearing this with Dior’s Ambre Nuit, and prefer this one when I want more ambergris and less cinnamon. I find this extremely pleasant and wearable, all day any season. Somewhat overpriced would be my only criticism.

This is a good sweet scent. After a couple of hours, I started noticing an animalic note coming from my arms. Today was a hot day, and throughout the day I caught whiffs of it as I sweat. I think it's a good summer scent, but I'm not buying it again. I prefer Oud EDP.

Smooth black leather, hints of dry smoke, tiny hint of cozy amber sweetness. Easy wearing. High quality and natural smelling. This is nice. I'm more of a citrus aromatic guy, but this is an easy to wear fall and winter fragrance. Scent: 8 / Sillage: 8 / Longevity: 7.5

THE autumn fragrance, incredible scent! Long lasting, you get whiffs from this throughout the whole day!

Ambra Eau de Parfum Acqua di Parma I saw a tester on sale, I went through some reviews, it was pretty mixed received. Decided to to Blind it solely for the fact Adp has always been quality and also I was able to get it at a very cheap price for a tester without box from a trusted reseller. This definitely has pretty much legit Ambergris in it because if you know how Ambergris smells like and too much of it, it's almost there. However the typical dna/vibe of an Adp that exist in their range like Sandalo, Oud and Leather, it's there. However if you were to blind fold me and ask me to guess it's brand, I'll also think it could be a Guerlain PL or Dior PL. The sandalwood is there at the beginning as well with the mixed cirtrus which isn't the typical fresh cirtus. Somehow it also reminds me abit like Amber Nuit Dior with heavy Ambergris. After 15 minutes or so this does smell similar to something I have, but I cannot exactly remember which but it seems like a Hybrid between Guerlain Encens Mythiques and Santal Royal, possible but I'll need to get back to do more sniffing. The Amber is there, the rose patchouli is there, some muskiness and incense like smell from the labdanum, pretty strong sandalwood, somewhat smoky as well. For new noses and inexperienced noses, this scent may not be easy for your nose. It took me a good 10 minutes or many constant sniffs to get my nose settled to the sourish saltiness blend But Ambra is pretty well blended with the rest of the notes rather equal and I don't get an over prominent smell of certain notes. I'm wearing this for myself now so I do not know how well received this is or will I get any compliments. I think I'll like it enough with a few more full wears. Decent projection and silage and very good on the skin. Easily 6-10 hours skin chemistry dependent. Definitely a sophisticated and elegant scent for users.

Such erratic creation. I think this is huge advantage of this fragrance. It is multifaceted from the beginning to the end, and brilliance of these facets change from vegetal to mineral, floral to animalic. At start there is tense oily citrus wave mixed with loud, slightly powdery rose of the heart. The green, vegetal note sound with I think cypriol in the core too. Together with musk from the base those three might be quite mischievous, as it reminded me of stable smell at one stage of the evolution. Sweet (sweaty) hay/horse coat, earthiness. Not dirty but not clean either. However, this weird sensation lasts only for a minute as the fragrance settles and projects as slightly powdery, musky-ambery, soapy even, perfectly balanced with hint of imitating leather woods. It's never loud, yet it is very long lasting, leaving a tray of oriental sweetness with hint of ambra fused in animalic tone. It is not fresh in anyway, but it does splendid job in the cloudy morning as revealing. I agree with the Baltic Sea connotation. It's not a happy scent. It is somehow raw and primal, yet soft and refined. As it's purpose is to be just beautiful, not easily descriptive, ephemeric idea of a perfume. In 2024 I sadly attended two funerals, in the mid spring and mid autumn, I was closely involved. AdP Ambra was my shield and tribute. As precious balm for both body and soul. And I am not even sure that I like it. Surely I respect this creation. I recommend to try it for the certain unsettled mood, serious occasion, somber weather walk. Rarity. Curiosity. Sacrum and Profanum.

At first I thought that it might just be my skin that won't let go of this wet dog vibe, but it appears that a few reviewers below have also experienced an unpleasant animalic aroma. Somewhere near the 6th hour, when most other notes have faded, you are left with what I can only describe as 'Wet dog after a swim in the ocean'. You should try it for yourself and see how it works - on skin, not paper! The first six hours were actually quite pleasant, if a little harsh. The Oud and Leather remain the undisputed kings of the Signatures of the Sun line.

Blind-bought because of the sandalwood-ambergris combo and I am not disappointed. It has an intense, slightly aquatic, slightly animalic ambergris that gives the entire fragrance a pop, a somewhat leathery--or dark wood--backbone, a smoothness from the sandalwood, and an uplifting rose. It smells quite masculine, but in a mature way. It gives off the mission in sf vibes. Color-wise, this fragrance is chocolate brown, cerulean blue, and magenta colored. If you've ever smelled an ambergris candle or match, this fragrance smells like that but with added depth. I don't get crazy projection or longevity--and the juice isn't thick like a perfume would be. That said, I got mine for pretty cheap, so I am planning to spritz the hell out of this.

I got a free sample of this and i can understand why the sample was free. Don't get me wrong it smells really pleasant, clean and fresh. Kinda like a health clinic or a spa. But there's nothing special about it. It's just not unique.

Ambra struck me as nothing really special, certainly not the type of fragrance that I prefer. After the initial trademark AdP citrus opening (which is always nice), it melts down into a smooth, creamy, floral nondescript soft scent. Leans feminine rather than unisex. Longevity is quite good - got at least 10 hours out of it with only average sillage and projection. Tried it from a sample. Not my style.

This fragrance taught me that I really don't like ambergris. There's something about this that just smells a bit gross, at least on my skin. It's too intensely musky for my nose. To each their own, I guess.

Exactly identical to Colonia Ambra, both in scent and performance. It's just a new packaging, no change in concentration, despite the new EDP label. A big dislike because of lack of originality.

smells like a less refined version of nous somme ammants by d'orsay. it's something i would smell from men working out at the gym. good to cover up BO.

I disagree. I did a side-by-side comparison. First I spritzed this new one on, and thought I could tell the difference from memory. I remembered the old one seemed to evolve quickly to a considerably creamy drydown, this one seemed sharper. Since I only seemed to remember the drydown of the old, I then decided to do it properly and ran to another shop that still carried that brown bottle. The quickest way to explain the difference is, that this new black Ambra bottle to me feels like it has more oud-like (dark woods) and black leather feel, where the old one is more like brown leather, w less if any wood. It's like the leather accord these siblings have follow the leather accords changed in the namesake black vs. brown, respectively. I don't own none of these (I did test all on skin) so this is first impression basis. Which is best? I personally feel the brown is more sympathetic. The scents are similar, I suppose what matters is where that smell association takes you. That is the best thing with AdP, they always take you somewhere!
