I was testing perfumes in store and ADP haven't really appealed to me before. I sprayed this one and I was curious about it... I liked it, but it also wasn't the sort of thing that I'd really buy. I still was smelling myself on the way home and made a note of it on my phone, as it's rather expensive and I usually wait for discounts. There was just something about this one. So I did find an offer on it, on an eBay perfume store. I was expecting to really regret the purchase. So anyway. Upon first spray, it's a musky citrus on me. I see the cardamom note and I think it's there, very well blended. It transforms into a fresher citrus and the clary sage comes out then. I think this almost smells a little bit like tea, but it's hard to define. I'm a jasmine lover, but it doesn't play in the way you expect it to here, it almost helps to keep the other notes smoothly blended. While this isn't weak and the notes are hard to become anosmic to, it's not meant to be an offensive powerhouse. I won't describe it as intimate, but it's a subtle, comforting scent. The longevity is what lets this fragrance down. Many of my more mainstream and cheaper scents last longer. It lasts a few hours on my clothes. I'd say this fragrance leans feminine to my nose, especially on my skin.

Definitely it’s a very soft refined sweet floral fragrance but I wouldn’t say very feminine. The floral note is more sweet aromatic floral, almost like hint of light honey like sweetness and I smell also some kind of sweet soft and round woody note that is probably coming from benzoin and musk. Camelia itself doesn’t normally have fragrance like rose but probably it’s an aroma chemical that mimics like rose and it’s done very well. Opening is fresh with citruses and pink pepper but transitions to this very comforting sweet floral aroma that gives you a whiff every time you move around. It’s like you’re present in a simple and modern luxurious spa. The silage and longevity are softer but not too bad. This fragrance is not for screaming loud but to have a relaxing and comforting ambiance around you so it’s so pleasant and enjoyable. Well done! 👍🏽👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽😻

Rhubarb with soft woody under tones. Leans more towards the feminine but a confident, classic dapper Dan can pull this one off. It has a peppery Jo Malone feel and in the same context linea scents which are underrated can become classic gems well worth converting. If you like rhubarb without the usual vanilla gourmand cliches them this is the one for you.

A soft and pretty floral scent that is very easy to wear and to like. The rose is dominant but is a “pink” kind of rose, not the deep dark jammy kind. It does evoke the image of a camelia in bloom, but not the scent of a camellia (tbh, camellia does not really have any scent).

Very lemony and sharp. It reminds me of Flash disinfectant. Great if you want to smell like a freshly mopped floor

Both Japanese and Italian. Flower petals with ambery depth, and a few drops of the classic Colonia Orange/Jasmin old-world magic. (I suspect AdP drops a bit of their original scent in everything they create). As it develops, orange becomes more and more prominent to my nose, and it's the orange I like the most : paired with woody notes and a balmy benzoin, but still radiating sunshine. I think I sense it so strong because I know it. But then again, the star, the camelia, like a paler and greener rose, brings even brighter daylight over the balanced complexity of this fragrance, making it deceivingly simple and minimalistic. All this somehow reminds me of the softness of a photographer I really like, Rinko Kawauchi. Especially an album called Semear that she did after travelling in different Brazilian cities where a great deal of Japanese immigrants were established a century ago. All those supposedly intense colors she saw, and somehow managed to give them that dreamy Japanese softness without forcing it, naturally. I imagine if she went to Italy, Camelia would be the result.

I get a sharp, citrussy rhubarb here - is this what camelia smells like? The rhubarb note is really distinctive to me! Super tart citrussy, with a floral peony like heart. I get the spiciness too underneath, and some creamy powderiness, but also, sadly some kind of synthetic concoction which is not agreeing with my nose. I'm comparing this with Roger Gallet The fantasie, as it is said to be similar, well it definitely is not - in my opinion RG The fantasie is far better, much lighter, more tea and lemons and aromatics, and zero synthetics. That said, if you love the tart fruity feel or rhubarb and your nose isn't sensitive to synthetics, this can be a nice one too. ** 200 samples up for swap UK - check my customs, get in touch! **

This one starts off with a fresh burst of freshly cut lemon, but no lemon is shown as part of the notes. This must obviously be a combo of the bergamot and mandarin. The camelia flower is there, but in the background. After about 10-15 minutes the bergamot and mandarin settle and the camelia rose becomes more prominent. It's a very unique smelling elegant scent, but I would say it leans a little more feminine because of this rose. The fragrance died after 2 hours and became a skin scent. Not really a scent for me, but others might enjoy this one more.

I find all ACQUA DP a bit masc. I love a few anyway Vaniglia for example. Peony, Rose, Magnolia are girly faves For info Cherry_Darling Camelia does not have a fragrance. It is a scentless flower. What they are selling here is the idea of a Camelia.... an idea I always find obnoxious! Ordered this waiting 🤞

Not overly impressive at first - as others have mentioned, there’s a definite rhubarb note. I think it improves on dry down to a mild citrus / floral. Projection and performance not great, though. I picked up a large bottle during lockdown at a 75% discount - so not particularly concerned.
