Chinotto di Liguria

Today, I had it on me the whole day, and I followed the scent's development. It begins with an initial whiff of richness, full of citrusy/orangey and floral notes, which alas really lasts about 30 minutes. Then it settles to an ongoing sillage that stayed on me over 12 hours. The settled scent was then just a simple and compact chinotto and musk, with slight alterations of floral notes like jasmine, yet never losing the citrus note. I read here about spices, but to my nose their prominence is almost missing. The scent, in general, reminds me of Hugo Boss Baldessarini or Dior's Eau de Sauvage. These, too, are very linear and long-lasting. Initially, the projection is actually quite heavy, and produces a more distinct female undertone to it. Nonetheless, it's always about one's approach to it. You will end up either loving it or hating it. Me personally, as a man, I enjoyed it a lot, still perceiving it appropriate for a man, but obviously it is an unisex addition to the BM line, so there is no doubt, it is wearable for a woman as well, and perhaps in some aspects more so. This scent is very much wearable, immediately evoking a Mediterranean vibe to it, so you'll get unmistakably to an Italian mood, and I think that everyone who has visited the area will get the warmness, elevation and lightness from this perfume. This perfume is the opposite of heavy, masculine, earthy, spicy, woody or even green scents. It can be a slightly nauseating, if you're not into flowery tones. In many ways, it actually a nice versatile perfume. It should, however, fit the message it conveys, so any outside gathering, celebration or party of friends and family, or colleagues from your job will do. It is, however, not good for pub, xmas, funeral, job interview, mountain hike or being in a court hearing, just to name a few.

With a perfect rendition of the scent from Lurisia's "Il Nostro Chinotto" fizzy drink, this fragrance gives some strong associations with Italian summer already from the start. On the dry down, a certain soapiness gives some vibes of barbershop, but it is perhaps aroma therapy kind of soap rather than the one for shaving. Having said that, there are som vague hints of sandalwood-ish base when you put together patchouli, cardamom and rosemary, I would say, all in all, that the impression is unisex leaning male because of that. The dry down lasts for quite a bit, but slowly a piney woodiness with rosemary and patchouli evolves more and more. This eventually adds a bitter touch to the chinotto note, which thus goes from fizzy drink to very naturalistic bitter, woody citrus. Good performance for a cologne, after 2-3 hours it turns more astringent and masculine but still discretely so. An unexpected twist on classical Italian colonia indeed, I bought this bottle mostly with sunny summer days in mind, but the warmth of cardamom provides a base that will work the year around. Value: The chinotto is very discounted, and it seems on the brink of being discontinued. I hope not. While AdP are expensive for their performance, prices vary wildly. I got 150ml for 70€. Meta: There are some "French" twists on this, and other sites states the Chinotto di Liguria is a creation of Dior's François Demachy. I have no problem accepting that, and the reference to the Ligurian coast with Genova and Cinque Terre fits straight into the hype from Acqua di Parma. Most important for me, is really that I dislike the soapiness in certain other colonias – most of all in Essenza – and Demachy plays that down well.

Chinotto di Liguria by Acqua di Parma, this was my first Acqua di Parma perfume, i bought it for around 70€, 150 ml bottle, not a blind buy. For the opening i get a fantastic burst of chinoto mixed with some mandarines (as described), i have to say this is hands down one of the best opening smells i have ever smelled. Definetly a top 5.Once it settles fresh citruses mix with some aromatic notes i mostly get rosemary and soapy notes, well i belive thats the jasmine. As it dries down to the max your skin will still smell very nice and fresh as if you just took a shower. I was wearing it even for the evening or couldy/rainy days, it held on perfectly. The bottle it self is nice and quality as is its presenation, atomizer is of course the standard one from AdP. As i read some of the reviews below a lot of them describe the longevity as poor. I have to argue that i got a very decent lifetime from the juice in my bottle, around the 6 hour mark to be percise, however the sillage is pretty ''mid'' as the kids say nowdays. Chinotto di Liguria - Citrus Fantasy 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Blind buying one's first niche perfume can be daunting, but with Acqua di Parma's Chinotto di Liguria, the risk pays off splendidly. This fragrance transports the wearer to a sparkling citrus fantasy, unlike anything one has encountered in the mainstream. Dior's tired old Eau Sauvage simply cannot compare to the vivid originality of this composition. With bursting notes of Italian chinotto and sun-ripened lemon, Chinotto di Liguria is like an AI-rendered midjourney painting of a fairy tale landscape. It is a scene not just seen but felt - refreshing, revitalizing, dream-like. As Acqua di Parma's unparalleled mastery of the citrus genre would suggest, the longevity and performance exceed expectations, lasting 8 hours with a soft, skin-kissing sillage. This makes it an ideal everyday scent for rainy and cloudy days when one needs a dose of hopefulness. While crowd-pleasing mass appeal may be lacking, for those partial to the Colonia line or seeking a bar-raising citric experience, Chinotto di Liguria is a must-try. Should it ever be discontinued, sincere disappointment would be wholly justified. This is a transportive composition that ascends to the top 3 of my fragrance wardrobe.

The recent discontinuation drove me to have to buy a 5oz bottle for dirt cheap off eBay. A little bit of maceration after a couple months helped this one be a little stronger, too, at least I think. It's distinctly Italian and gives a luxury hotel soap citrusy scent. It's not a bright citrus, but it's not super dark either. Definitely leans a little mature, and if I'm being honest with myself, not entirely out of place on an older lady. However, I also don't feel like it's really out of place on me, a 28 year-old man. It smells rich (which I'm not), a bit sophisticated, and fresh--yet not generic. Longevity-wise, I can get pretty much a day's wear. I'll often wear this in the evening and then to bed, and I've even woke up the next morning with a bit of the scent still there. I can wear fragrances regarding way better on here for longevity and completely shed that scent by morning. Projection is moderate, but I don't think this would smell right if it were any "louder." Solid 7.5/10, maybe 8/10+. For the price for the quantity, there's not a lot of citruses out there that I like better. Aqua di Parma is such a solid house that doesn't get quite the love it deserves!

Really great fragrance that I was severely underrating. I picked up a 6oz bottle on Mercari because the price was too good to pass up on, but it never really came off my shelf (which also has Fico di Amalfi and Mandorlo di Sicilia, as well as Colonia Intensa) for use. I just recently smelled it again while on my current Intensa binge and immediately caught the similarities between the two - it also has some stylistic similarities with Dunhill Icon and Montale Aqua Gold (the latter of which also has a strong Eau Sauvage resemblance, much like CdL itself) which are two scents I've also been using a lot recently. I really, really enioy it. There's a really beautiful, but still masculine, floral sweetness that comes out about half an hour after the opening accord fades which I never caught before. Underrated gem from a great line of scents. It's probably not better than Fico or Mandorlo, but it occupies a slightly different niche and is damn good at what it does. Will definitely be finishing my bottle before the end of summer lol.

As with any of the Blu Med line, you're going to get really short, incredible citrus openings - alongside poor performance and longevity. But this is still one of the best things I've ever smelled. The opening to me is pure Chinotto and Rosemary - honestly I can't tell you how much I love this opening, it's the ultimate smell of summer to me. As it dries down the Chinotto fades and white florals appear which gives it a sweeter overall profile compared with the citrus/herb of the chinotto/rosemary opening. Try as I might I don't get any cardamom off this.... if anything I get more of a coriander twang in that there is a soapy note I can't pin down. A true unisex to me - the Green rosemary note in the opening leans it more masculine, but then the white florals throughout the mid and base lean it more femme. Agian, as with the whole Blu Med line, if you want something you can spray on in the morning, that will last all day and get you compliments from people - this isn't it. This is one to enjoy yourself.

The opening is a gorgeous spicy, citric, aromatic cola. Masculine to my nose. Really strikes a great balance between bitter and refreshing. As it dries down it sits very close to the skin. Takes on a soapy and slightly floral quality. Reminiscent of some classic men's fragrances. Azzaro Pour Homme with beautiful citrus? The opening of Chanel Pour Monsieur but done way better? Hermes Eau D’Orange Vert? This is the fragrance family you can expect. Clean and very pleasant, but you will say "man, I sorta miss the opening!" This is undoubtedly a top heavy perfume. Performance isn’t great. Lasts about three to four hours and sillage is low. The main breadth of this fragrance happens within the first 60 minutes. But it smells so damn good I don’t care. This is for when you need a quick freshen up before a short errand or lunch date in the hot weather. To my taste this is a fleeting masterpiece. My favorite citrus opening ever just with the pure energy I get from it. 9.6/10

Blind bought this a couple weeks ago due to the likeness to Eau sauvage and me wanting to get into more ADP fragrances, it ended up getting cancelled to which I later smelled it at ADP and fell in love and subsequently reordered. This shares similar DNA to Eau Sauvage, on initial spray it’s most notably similar, however it a more playful, less gentlemanly scent than Eau Sauvage. It replaces sharp natural lemon with chinotto and mandarin, and it contains that wonderful jasmine tingle. To me this is a less serious, less sharp and more herbal Eau sauvage, all the while being on near par with Eau sauvage itself. In my opinion it is objectively unisex, however my brain draws association with the aforementioned icon of a fragrance and so I see it as more masculine. As for performance, 6 hours minimum with the iconic subtle and restrained projection that a lot of ADPs have. I really can’t see why you could hate this fragrance a solid 9+/10, essential for summer.

Really great, but this is not for everyone. The citrus opener of chinotto is bitter and sharp, like the Campari liqueur, and ultimately, whether you like this note or not will determine if you will like this fragrance. This bitter citrus slowly melds over an hour or two into a soapier citrus and slowly peters out over 3-4 hours. There's a certain edge to this fragrance due to the bitter chinotto, which makes it stand out versus other citrusy/blue frags. I think it would make for a really great early morning scent, like for pre or post early gym session or on the way to work or airport. It's got a nice zing to it gives me the impression of up-and-go. It's got a professional feel, giving me a sense of seizing the day. EDIT: My partner smelt it for the first time and immediately scrunched her nose and said it smelt like insect repellant. I still think it's good, but will be more sparing with the sprays when I'm around the house.

This is an updated review after a few weeks of wear: The initial smell of this is fairly traditional (and not dissimilar from Mirto Di Panarea) but it consistently develops and improves over time into a smell I absolutely love that - to my mind - makes it better than Mirto The chinotto provides an excellent fresh fruity-smell but keeps it grounded and distinct from the much more lemon/lime strong citrus tones of other fragrances in this range like Bergamotto di Calabria. A few hours in the smell is lovely. I think this works well in the day or the night - in fact I feel the development through the day lends itself to putting on around midday for a day in the sun and then as the sun starts to set it will develop with you. I was surprised to see how low the scores are for this fragrance compared to others in the Blu Mediterraneo range - I personally think it's one of - if not the - best.

Opening 10 out of 10.....BUT, it vanished like a virgin on prom night. I don't know what the hell a Chinotto is, but right out of the gate, it smells freaking amazing. I want to bathe in Chinotto. I want to name one of my children Chinotto. If it stayed that way, I would have bought it on the spot. I would have made it rain up in the department store and started dancing 🕺 I was in the store for 30 minutes and it was gone by the time I left the store. I'm not exaggerating. 30 minutes 😐 I would still buy this if I got it for a cheap price and try to boost performance with iso e or ambroxen. But as it stands now, it's just not worth it. My skin drinks this stuff. What a shame because this is stellar and makes me want to dance; and I hate dancing.

Lovely well conceived fragrance, unisex, fresh, pleasant, a real citrusy mediterranean garden with geranium and bergamot. First of all what is a chinotto? (I am Italian) it is a fruit that belongs to citrus family. It is not edible and distinctively sour that gives its name to a famous beverage, a sweet sour alternative of Coke, the chinotto (which is delicious!). Problem is longevity, too short for price tag and for me. Basically you should re-apply every two hours and it is a problem of this line in general. I wish they could make the same identical scent long lasting and more intense, basically an eau de parfume. Recommended if you like light scents, safe office scent and safe blind buy for citrus fragrance lovers. 4/5

I can fully empathize that this perfume is polarizing to some people. However, less is more with this one. Overspraying this can make it cloying due to the herbal qualities of the natural Chinotto used. The opening of this perfume is similar to that of elysium / enigma parfum cologne with their sparkle and fizzy nature. It's really like popping open a can of cola or a soft drink. The longevity of this scent is well above what you will expect for scents of this brand. Usually AdP is very poor. The scent really comes alive as your body heats up. Once you realize how photoreal this is, you'll want the jumbo bottle. As with all AdP, this is worth the prices at discounters. Try before you buy. Mandrolo is also very good.

Acqua di Parma Chinotto di Liguria (2018) - earthy Chinotto - #francoisdemachy gets inspired from a cola drink every Italian loves. Made from bitter oranges, these sodas have a dark and bitter like taste but remaining fresh. Starts with the full blast of a Chinotto accord - bitter oranges, rootbeer-like and orange blossoms. As the citrus dissipates, I get spiced Cardamom and earthy Patchouli as its heart and later become even more prominent in the base. I also sense some pine-like Rosemary and Jasmine flowers only as supporting act. White musks create a wonderful sillage and longevity for the perfume. A wonderful depiction of the drink from start to finish.

THE STAR OF THIS SHOW IS..... THE GERANIUM!!! I was so pleased with this. Geranium has become one of my all time favorite notes and I wish more fragrances on the market used it. You will loose the citrus opening in the blink of an eye...literally will evaporate instantly. This allows for the florals and the spices to develop and it settles into this natural aromatic scent...it molds to the PH of your skin creating a unique olfactory moment. I went through an entire full size bottle the first full open Summer after covid...so like 2022? A beautiful fragrance, very wearable and not your basic citrus / freshy. This star has earned its worth.

Okay, I love this scent!! I've been sampling this for about a week now, and this is full bottle worthy. I'm not sure what chinotto smells like, but this is definitely a beautiful Mediterranean-inspired citrus, with a sexy dry-down. This is perfect for hot days or Summer nights. This is a unisex fragrance (I'm a female and I love wearing it), but I believe that it leans a bit masculine. Chinotto di Liguria embodies what I think of as a traditional Mediterranean citrus cologne. I could douse myself in this. On the negative side, this doesn't have the greatest lasting power, but I'd still buy a full bottle.

Someone mentioned the preformulated Eau Savage cologne, and I think I get where they're coming from . The more I wear it, the more I understand the comment. You clearly get this cologne style but somehow not the old man feeling, as you might get from Eau Sauvage or another cologne-style frag. It's modern, with that bitter accord and jasmine. I quite like this, and at least it has better performance than eau sauavage. I get a good hour or two from this fragrance, with ok projection. Such a beautifully sparkly top, just like the chinotto drinks, as others have mentioned. Also, very unique in today's market

This is a happy and fresh, sparkly number that tells be the dreary cold months are gone and hello to the warm Spring and Summer months. The opening of this is beautiful, so clean and bright, the mandarin, the greenness it is intoxicating. I have decent sillage with this, but I am a 4x spray girl, and I often spray my hair and clothes. I always get a compliment from a man when I wear this. So for me, it is a winner and will be at the top of my orange category. I am likely always to own a bottle. It lasts about 6 hours for me and gets even more beautiful as it warms on my skin.

It’s a little silly that one of the cons about this fragrance is its longevity. Anyone who has tried this will know it lasts 10 hours and stays. This fragrance has an almost cloying dry down when worn in summer. That very dry down is why I feel this isn’t that much of a summer scent, perhaps better for transitional seasons. Everything said, I enjoy this lovely fragrance. The similarities to Eau Sauvage are there for sure, especially in that opening.

This starts absolutely beautiful. For everyone who knows how Chinotto is: the beginning is just like that. Tart citrus. After about half an hour it loses my beloved Top Note and doesn't have too much in common with Chinotto anymore. After several hours it dries down to resemle O de Lancome a lot, might be the rosemary and jasmine. I will have to retry this one, but I am a bit disappointed after such a beautiful beginning. Very long lasting.

Lovely spicy/sparkly/tart lemony scent (I assume chinotto). Made fresher with the orange note and made greener with the rosemary note. The musk and patchouli makes this more masculine to my nose. The florals in this seems to mix in with the rosemary adding to the greenness. I understand the comparisons to eau sauvage. Ive been trying to get my hands on a brio soda can which is a Canadian chinotto drink to try.

Like a fresh sip of cold Chinotto soda on a hot day under the Tuscan sun. Fresh bitter citrus opening that eventually dries down to a creamy citrus musk base. First smell, I wasn't so sure...I was confused by the bitterness, but now I get it. It's very refreshing. Great way to start the day and got the full bottle. Not very long lasting or a projector tho. Scent: 8, Longevity: 6, Overall: 8

My first thought sniffing this was "I like this, but I can't buy it, I already own Diorella". Has basically the same general smell as Diorella but a bit stronger and fresher, perhaps less unisex and more masculine. When my bottle of Diorella is finished I think I will buy this, as I prefer this to Diorella just slightly.

This Acqua di Parma perfume " Chinotto di Liguria " is absolutely one of the best citrus fragrances out on the market. It's a combination of fresh citrus with incredible sophistication. It smells classy and expensive. Also, the silage and staying power is top's!

Gotta plug this one. If you like smelling like a well dressed and sophisticated man's man, this is the one for you. Highly underrated. One of the last that I purchased, I collect them all, and definitely the one I reach for in the cooler weather.

Seems a lot of people dislike this perfume, and actively dislike it enough to write negative reviews of it. Good. Stay away. More for me to buy :). It opens with a blast of synthetic bitter and zesty orange, which is rather forgettable mostly because it fades almost instantly within a few short minutes. It’s not convincing and doesn’t smell particularly great. But it does tee-you-up very nicely for what’s to come, and to come immediately: a jasmine heart soaked in soapy musks. There are some accents, sure; maybe a bit of dark green herb here and some seed spice of some sort over there, but it’s all about jasmine and musks. The jasmine is a vivid and saturated white, at once beautifully floral but juxtaposed next to the massive dose of musks it’s unclear how much its indolic side is feeding those musks, making them go into overdrive, or if there really is just that much musk material in the perfume. While being very potently soapy-musky, fortunately it doesn’t do what many (poor) perfumes of that variety often do which is scratch and tear at your nose. Some floral soap-musk perfumes can be so sharp as to make you feel like they’re trying to scrub-out your nose like soap would your hands. But not this perfume; it’s not meek or timid, but it’s not out to scrub or hurt you. So far, you’re probably thinking I’m a bit of a simpleton (like the perfume itself) for liking this, or that my tastes are terribly unrefined and basic. Maybe. But let me tell you about my day. It started at 4 AM, and I knew I was going have a long day ahead of me. I still wanted to test a perfume in the real world so I put on an extrait; a long day requires a long perfume. To put it simply, this extrait that I never wore before ended up being quite a bit more challenging than I thought it would be (I ended up loving it, but it was hard work on top of an already difficult day). Now, here we are at the end of the day on a balmy summer evening, the extrait is gone from my skin, and I wanted to close out the day lounging by the pool reading a good book at dusk. But then I had another thought and I told myself, you know what, I should test out another perfume that I know is going to be easy and pleasant. Cue Chinotto di Liguria. It was just what I needed. It’s so simple and so easy to wear, and though not particularly well-made or made with exceptional materials, it is pretty and clean. It is soothing me and calming me. It feels like I have wrapped myself in the cleanest, most luxurious linens in the most comfortable bed of an amazing seaside hotel. On this cool evening, sun setting and releasing colors of orange, pink, and purple on the horizon, the smell of water and salts nearby from the pool, CdL is a great companion. I honestly think this would do just as well - or maybe even better - as a room spray. It has that sort of feel to it. It seems that Acqua di Parma thought along the same lines because the perfume is discontinued but the fragrance still exists as a candle. That’s its trick. It has “that smell” to it that’s just very easy, common, and easily likable. If you are looking for excellent technical execution, excellent materials, complexity or compelling evolution, you won’t find it here but what you will find will make you happy and relaxed if you let it. Though what this has to do with Chinotto, the Italian orange soft drink, I have no idea.

Starts out with bitterish and fresh citrus which quickly settles down to a creamy tangy musk. A soapy scent lingers around like a particularly clean fart. Speaking of farts... Am I imagining this or do I get a faint fecal surprise? There definitely is a deep, lukewarm hint of crap here. I think I know why. Jasmine. Natural, real jasmine, rich in indole. It's only there when I take a prolonged, intense sniff close to my skin so I wouldn't worry. It's almost pleasant and not decidedly not unpleasant. This is the second fragrance from Aqcua Di Parma's meditarrean line I've tried and just like Arancia di Capri it's a discreet fragrance with short longevity. An artisan fragrance as opposed to a utility one, perhaps. You will never smell some guido (are they still a thing?) wearing this from the other side of the supermarket and if he wore it he'd have to reapply it twice an hour. Also, even though it's marketed as unisex this is very much a female chypre to me. Perhaps a guido willing to challenge the gender norms? Who'd rock this one? Claudia, born and bred in Bonn. She's old enough to remember Die Mauer. A wall, splitting a nation in two as a result of a war lost. Times have changed but Claudia perseveres. Two years ago she lost her husband to cancer and since then everything has been grey and lifeless. But this morning her eldest daughter called and gave her the best news possible. Claudia will be a grandmother! For the first time since Dieter passed away her tears have been from happiness rather than grief. Her only regret is that the child won't have a maternal grandfather. She dabs Chinotto di Liguria on the nape of her neck, behind her ears, and on her wrist just before she enters the office. The bottle has been waiting for her in the drawer along with his watch and the old cinema tickets from the beautiful autumn evening he proposed. The sweet floral fragrance doesn't make her as sad as she would've thought. No, in fact, she curses herself for not daring to use it again before now. It feels so good, so right. Like he never left. "Are you up there somewhere, Liebe? Watch over our little one!" tl;dr – 7 out of 10 nearly forgotten blue bottles opened again.

Chinotto is a bitter citrus fruit that you don't really come across much outside Italy. You'll find it in a soft drink over there but unless you really like bitterness you will probably think the drink is foul! Italy has a tradition of bitter drinks (Aperol, Campari) and chinotto is in that tradition. It's very unusual to find the note in perfumery and I was a little surprised at how well Acqua di Parma have pulled it off here. They've combined the citrus and the bitterness very well indeed and the perfume does have a certain resonance for me as someone who lived in Liguria. Chinotto di Liguria opens immediately with the mandarin and the chinotto, with rosemary and a touch of cardamom. Alas, the mandarin vanishes within about five minutes - such a shame as it is gorgeous here. The geranium and the jasmine take about 30 - 40 minutes to become noticeable. The overall effect is a proper green and chypre with a touch of bitter citrus over the top for the first three hours or so. It feels like an intimate projector after that first half hour or so and stays that way throughout. Some three and a half hours in, you get a chinotto-cola effect where you've sprayed and this lasts for another four hours. The floral notes give a certain clean or soapy quality to the perfume as well. The patchouli and rosemary keep the bitter green element going for a fair amount of time. The perfume lasts for over eight hours but you have to sniff yourself past that point in order to smell it. For me, the green element means you can wear this any time of year but it does feel more like a day perfume than a night one on the whole. It's genuinely unisex and I think some would see that bitter citrus - green - floral combination as old fashioned or classic, depending on how you interpret these things. I like it.

Wake up wake up wake UP! A deliciously stinging slap of impressively nearly-bitter, beautifully prickly orange-like citrus peel starts this one off with great style. It bristles with brio - tart, uncompromising, aromatic; I've never tasted chinotto-the-drink so can't say how close it lies to that, but as a perfume it is just perfect for a seriously hot day. Somehow this drapes an imaginary cool wet towel over your forehead, dropping the temperature in your brain to manageable levels, making you feel instantly more coherent and together. It gives exactly the same sort of refreshment as you'd get from stepping into an air-conditioned room from a steamy, baking city street in summer. But - just like that step into the coolth - the shiver of pleasure can't last for long. On me, AdP's Chinotto rapidly loses its citrus charm (evaporated away within half an hour or so); you then get maybe another hour of soft skin=scent musk, pleasant and unisex enough for anybody, but a bit generic. So it's yet another beautiful but shortlived citrus fizzle, just like AdP's Bergamotto, or Berdoues Scorza di Sicilia, or Atelier Mandarine Glaciale ... that is, the melting-orange-lolly set. All beautiful, invigorating, well-priced, nose-pleasing citrus scents which would be absolutely perfect for summer, but don't really go the distance. Which is frustrating. Still worth a go to see if it survives on you for longer, or if it's just so perfect you can forgive it for fading so fast. I swear, if AdP could make a scent that actually stays alive, I'd be one of their biggest partisans. I love the smells, the packaging, the price point, the cultural associations. Just not the performance.

Very refreshing in the opening with this slightly bitter citric accord that comes from the chinoto fruit, almost as if the green-ness of the leaf was thrown in for good measure. Light florals dance around with a nicely regulated aromatic touch from the rosemary. It gives a green- floral mild sweetness to the whole composition very close to one of it's siblings, Mirto di Panarea, just lighter with not much woods. The very end is quite clean with patchouli grounding it very nicely. The whole life of the fragrance never relinquishes the light citric & floral tone with the aromatic end really giving it a solid footing to stand on. I enjoy the heck out of it and I get about 5-6 hours of duration which is fine with me with 6-8 sprays. Classic cleanliness that is masculine leaning with a soft touch. 30+ is this target fragrance audience and nothing under that will truly appreciate the grounded & fresh clean feeling this juice brings in standard Acqua Di Parma style. Sweet, alluring, intoxicating is not in this fragrances vocabulary nor its mission. It exudes class without being starchy, stoic or old fashioned for the hotter days of summer. And personally, I would even say it would work equally as well in the cooler days of spring and early fall. Truly one of the more versatile fragrances in the Blu Mediterranean line that very few truly embrace. Plus, it's super affordable if one looks around and for 150ml. that I acquired some 2 months months back for under $70US is a steal for this classy yet modern creation. For classic Italian style fresh cleanliness, Chinoto di Liguria will please with ease & style.

Chinotto di Liguria is an bright and pure citrus fragrance. My immediate thought upon smelling this was: Take the legendary Dior Eau Sauvage (pre-2011 formulation) , and remove all the oakmoss-related chypre weight and tune up the jasmine note. What remains is essentially Chinotto di Liguria. The core is identical: a dazzling burst of citruses paired with a clean, luminous jasmine note, which in modern perfumery is often executed through Hedione . This molecule is key, giving the scent its shimmering, transparent quality. Crucially, the Hedione dosage here is much more prominent than in Eau Sauvage, where it serves more as a delicate garnish. However, the final execution leaves me with a familiar lament. Like the reformulated classics, Chinotto di Liguria exchanges the old-world chypre gravitas for a safe, linear base of musk and a general herbal note. It's a gorgeous aromatic framework, but without the grounding force of oakmoss, it lacks the structure and "backbone" that turned vintage compositions into masterpieces. It’s too clean, too polite, and too average, leaving so much regret... I only wish Acqua di Parma had fortified this gorgeous citrus core with a touch of authentic chypre. It would be the perfect counterpoint to the current, mediocre "vetiver-orange water" that Eau Sauvage (post-2012) has become, finally delivering the missing depth and gravitas the citrus genre desperately needs. Rating: 6/10

I LOVE ACQUA DI PARMA! Blind bought this - Chinotto!!!! It grabbed my attention!!! Hmm Chinotto as a significant scent!!!!! Well - BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Basically this dries down to a week floral MOSTLY JASMIN. The chinotto and orange fade (actually it smells more like Sprite lol) with the first few minutes to the Jasmin with a mere specking of Rosemary Cardamom and Chinotto and even a slightly powdery feel. I had to pour it on to get the CHinotto to present itself longer and more projection which at that rate would mean it is going to be empty pretty quick and even then it faded within 20 minutes. It has less projection than my fave Colonia Club, Mandorlo di Sicilia or Cedre de Taormina. Its far less than Arancia Di Capri. It reminds me of my mums subtle perfumes of the seventies (I vaguely recall - was it Magriff?) - hence I think this is definitely a scent skewed more to the ladies. Sadly, again I think this is one case of creative naming and I certainly can not understand the large votes for the Chinotto note. Not I think destined to become one of ADP's signature scents. Happy Smelling EDIT: I just read Fablab and mirjam.kodi 's reviews and realised I'm spot on with regard to this - I also read @Ralphangel review and seriously wonder with such vague but blustering praise as to whether he has even smelled the scent???

First spray on test blotter immediately brought to mind Dior Eau Sauvage EDT, my second favorite fragrance ever. Now wearing it, however, its manifesting closer to Edmund Roudnitska's "Eau Sauvage perfected": Diorella. I have bottles of both Diorella and Eau Sauvage EDT in my collection. Diorella has that deeper herbal green, ever-so-slightly sour, almost over-ripe melon accord, as well as white floral. And although missing the melon note, this accord is also present to a degree in Chinotto di Liguria. Less deep, defined and vivid, but present. The white floral in Chinotto (jasmine) comes across to me as closer to Diorella's honeysuckle than traditional jasmine. The performance of Chinotto is worse however, so I'll need to be liberal with my sprays. I have a vintage bottle of Diorella, where the top notes have turned, so Chinotto will serve as a pretty good facsimile of that classic Dior. Although marketed to women, and although slightly more feminine than Eau Sauvage EDT, I've never really thought that Diorella leaned very feminine. More unisex than anything. Same with Chinotto di Liguria.

Honestly, if you've smelled Essenza and wished it had a touch less neroli, or if you've wished that the original Colonia had a bit more white florals, you are left with Chinotto di Liguria. Like all Acqua di Parmas, the opening itself is brilliant and almost photorealistic citrus peel. The rest is a touch of jasmine without any noticeable indole, sharp herbal lavender/rosemary and a light musky base. This is the simpleton's review in plain English. We can debate the distinctions between Chinottos and the other citrusy odours from dusk to dawn, but honestly ask yourself: does this distinction even matter when smelled 1ft away from the skin? How about 2ft? 3ft? How long is the citrus top note going to last again? I find that Acqua di Parmas largely are best used as part of a daily ritual - to freshen up and ready the mind at the beginning of the day, once I've showered and dressed myself. No other scent has the pure Zing! AdPs possess to electocute my senses awake. Their longevity is 6h at best, on fabric. Sillage is intimate after the first hour on fabric.

i fell in love this on the 1st sniff but i will not really call it a freshie or a summer frag, cause i tried this in Japan in winters & this really shined then , came back to India where temperatures were around 27 degree C & was kinda disappointed but in an AC office i was in love with it again . Its not a potent frag but if you over spray it turns powdery & starts choking you.. best way to use this is 2 sprays in mrng MAX and keep a decant & keep applying every 2-3 hours & you will REALLY ENJOY THIS . I bought a bottle and will use it mainly for office & long drives where perfume won't choke me, scent bubble is really small & delicate & its just for your nose or close encounter with your lady. This actually smells like mixtures of perfumes in air at a good perfume store/mall . Just waiting for winters to enjoy this beauty !! PS: review below me says it smells like Dior .. which is absolutely wrong !!

I bought this by accident (I meant to try Fico di Amalfi and ordered wrong) but since I had it in hand I figured I would try it out. On my skin it starts out as a bitter orange (that I wasn't crazy about) that dried down to a marshmellowy sharpness that I didn't really care for either. I was totally ready to write this off completely but out of curiosity I sprayed some in my hair and WOW! As a hair fragrance (without my skin chemistry getting in the way, maybe) it smells wonderful and clean and fresh and the herbal qualities (rosemary?) really come to light. Most perfumes if you spray them in your hair have the opposite problem (all the magic that comes when it warms into your skin is lost) but this is a perfect perfume for hair. So I will finish it and it's definitely a keeper but I'm not wowed and probably wouldn't buy again (and I'm definitely not letting it anywhere near my skin!)

Very photorealistic bitter and juicy citrus opening. When it starts to settle I can clearly separate the middle notes. Geranium is minty fresh, cardamom and rosemary spice/herb things up, and jasmine gives the fragrance a smooth soapy touch. The base notes, musk and patchouli, are also very much noticeable in the background through the depth they add. I have tried 6 fragrances from this line, and this is the most soapy one out of them all. It smells like a luxury soap with very high-quality ingredients, maybe a little bit too much for my taste actually. It is definitely interesting and I think it is either a hit or a miss for most people who try it. Chinotto di Liguria is initially just fresh, but it feels more masculine when it has dried down. Performs very well relative to the other Blu Mediterraneo fragrances. 7/10.

Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo - Chinotto di Liguria, released in 2018, is another aromatic entry in the Blu Mediterraneo line. It starts with chinotto and mandarin orange, giving a zesty, bittersweet vibe—pleasant, but familiar if you know Acqua di Parma’s style. The scent settles into floral notes of jasmine and geranium, eventually resting on a woody, musky base with patchouli and musk. While it’s solid and well-made, it doesn’t stand out as anything new or different. If you’re into Acqua di Parma’s aromatic fragrances, you’ll likely enjoy it. But don’t expect it to break away from their usual Mediterranean vibe. It's a nice, safe scent—exactly what you'd expect, and nothing more.

Received mine yesterday from a discounter unwrapped, and already sprayed as no priming needed. (ie: preowned, reflogged) Being a lover of Campari, blood oranges, and sour citrus, this was a huge disappointment. There may be some more neutral grapefruit/lime overtones; but completely missing the dark, almost petitgrain/sour rind and astringency you would expect from a true chinotto. Does not hold a candle with more uplifting scents it's compared with here like the wonderful Eau Dinamisante. There is a hint of ozone in the drydown. Would make a good linen/ironing spray. And why are there 3 citrus versions in this line? Are any true to form?

Like the other fragrances from this series, this gives a bright, sunny, and very classic feeling. A bitter edge makes it feel more lived-in than some of the other examples from Blu Mediterraneo. It may just be that I'm not familiar with chinotto but this smells more interpretive and personal than the more direct accords of some of those scents, more like someone's house (in a good way). But in that same way I think it's very mature. I think it's unfair, but I understand why it isn't rated very well. I think this would make a great signature scent for an older man, just not there yet myself.

This scent reminds me on one thing - "A Single Man". The whole atmosphere of the movie, with all the beautiful details brought to life by Tom Ford, in a single scent. Wood, fine lines and simplicity come to my mind. I wouldn't have guessed that chinotto is a citrus judging by this fragrance, to be honest. Dries down a bit soapy while I wish the opening would stay and stay... It's classy in an English manner, but also nostalgic. The scent of a gentleman in a library. Definitely masculine, but still wearable for a woman. One of the more long-lasting in the Blu Mediterraneo line.

This scent captures well the bitterness and sweetness from the chinotto and rosemary. It is incredibly pleasant to smell. It smells like the San Pellegrino chinotto soda, which is my only other reference point to what a chinotto smells like. It however, doesn't last long, perhaps 3 hours at most. Today, I put it on 15 minutes before going to the gym, and by the time I was done warming up, I could barely smell it anymore (that was like 45 minutes at most). The sillage felt fairly intimate to me, and the scent is unisex. Overall, I'd say the value is pretty okay. Maybe a 6.5/10.

Just a Big pass for me...boy my type of fragance. Very typical citric and fresh colegbe which smells like the hundred cologbes que can find in the Parker for a quarter of the price. The performance is weak on my skin... It lasts 2 hours with a very light projection ion so It doesnt worth the price. You can find something similar for less than 20€. The quality of the ingredients is good but very light concentration. For activities un summer: beach, walking, Sports... Scent: 7 Longevity: 5 Sillage: 5 Quality/price: 4 Versatility: 8 Originality: 5 Global: 6

Fresh, but also has a bit of warmth due to the cardamom in here, which is really nice. You could pull this off in early fall if it's not too cold. I get lots of rosemary and citrus, the chinotto almost gives a small cola-vibe in the opening. Smells very clean, almost like an expensive soap. Very natural-smelling, the quality is high. Performance is okay for a fresh fragrance. It is however quite expensive. I got it as a gift and I wouldn't be buying it again for my own money, but it is still very nice. Presentation is lovely as well.

Yo i snagged 100ml of this one for like 50€, discounter prices for AdP are wild. Backstory: stayed a year in Italy, "Chin8 Neri" is my favorite soda of all time. First 2 hours with that fizzy chinotto opening are truly special, after that it becomes rather basic but determinately clean rosmarin, labdanum (?), backed-by-white-florals Monster. Getting strong whiffs of the admittedly dulled scent after 10 hours. Learned its discontinued, will treasure my bottle. Certainlly fits light-hearted males. slightly feminine leaning. Well done.

This is completely out of my normal wheelhouse of fragrances I enjoy, but for some reason I really like this one. I can agree with what some others are saying when they this smell clean, soapy, also a bit spicy and green. Not very citrus or floral to my nose. While I think this is unisex, I can see how some would rate this as more masculine. If you are looking for citrus, there are better Acqua di Parma scents than this one for citrus notes, but if you like green with a bit of spicy herbal notes, then give this one a try.
