''smells like vacation!!'', first reaction i got spraying it from my sis. it smells classic, italian everything that conjures the relaxed mediterrean vibe. the initial spray of photo realistic citrus is so sparkly and airy. like a field of grape/orange trees in the wind. and the opening does last quite a while and i love that. Neroli, neroli, neroli all the way. this is what michael corleone smelled like in part 2 when he wore his casual clothes going back to his heritage vineyard in sicily! After the long lasting citrus opening gradually settles. a very thick soapiness comes up in the mid with beautiful floral hints of rose/jasmine + complimentary orange bitter green of petitgrain that make you feel relaxed, comfortable, clean. that soapiness persists pretty much till the end combined with a unique green herbal fougere profile of sage + rosemary with a slight minty/ camphor undertone. woody vetiver + a tinge of cloves. theres an ambiguous leather accord too. with a generous amount of earthy patchouli musk / amber warmth / oakmoss base as support making it masculine. the cloves is the secret ingredient here, working magic in the background adding a layer of complexity from base to mid. Please judge this with the appropriate weather condition its meant for. It's not a powerful projecting scent however it does leave scent trails that are just out of this world. it really does need a good warm outside temperature and wind. and thats often with really good natural smelling summer scents that are not relying on powerful aroma chemicals to give lift. The opening is the most projecting part and it last like 20-30 minutes and that's bit unusual for a citrus forward frag. prob cuz of how much neroli n petitgrain is used giving an illusion of a continues citrus. within that time reception of others was lovely. after that I never really had a compliment unless im like very close to someone however when the mid develops the scent trail is just something so good that i had someone run up to me to ask what i am wearing. literally never had that happen with anything else lol. Honestly the longevity is a fair 5-6 hours. But not like it dies within the last few hours. It holds on wrapping you around a scent bubble for 4 and giving you 2 hours skin scent. letting it self known to your own nose every so often. a slight over spray works well with it. it's not a dated scent... but its not a blind buy. the scent will wear you if you cannot appreciate the uniqueness + oldskool/modern vibe. it's not challenging at all to wear. quite safe really. and i read some people comparing this like a dollar store scent? come on.. tom ford portofino neroli which i genuinely find smelling like baby wipes with an outrageous pricetag lasting barely 1-2 hours is deserving of that label not this. its genuinely a complex unique scent but you wouldn't be able to tell right away. it has enough transitions to discover. its one of my fave summer scent for a while. i just had to get another bottle years later. it can be worn all seasons acting like an work/office scent too. I got prada amber pour homme too and i prefer the soapiness in that one cuz of overall versatility performance / projection but sometimes you want something that doesn't announce itself but is to be discovered. don michael corleone/10

Probably my favourite fragrance of this type, the very upfront citruses combined with clean florals like neroli and Jasmine typical of Classic Italian Men's Eau de Colognes. Only in this, it's done to its high possible degree of elegance, and remains modern and timeless while paying homage to the classic DNA and feel that this kind of fragrance illicits. The opening of Essenza on my skin is one of the best experiences I've had with a fragrance if not the best if were just talking openings, it opens up very bright as you can imagine, The citruses are so effervescent and sweet with a little zingyness, to the point it almost feels like I'm smelling a very sweet Grapefruit candy or sugared Grapefruit confection, it may sound weird (and I don't blame you if you give me a weird look), but its so sweet that it very very vaguely reminds me of the sweetness (not flavour) of Fruit Loops, the sweet taste of them, but transmuted into a smell instead of a taste, only with Lemon, Grapefruit, and a clean-sweet Neroli being at the forefront. As it starts to settle down the more aromatic and clean parts of the foundation begin to shine more and take over the void left behind by the citruses, and like the people below me I must also agree, in that it does smell very soapy in the best possible way, it smells so much like an expensive North Italian soap you'd find in a hotel. By the early mid the citruses have all died into thr background and I mainly just smell Grapefruit and a bit of orange, with the main player being a Neroli characteristic of this type of fresh Italian fragrance, but in here it feels much more modern, which is aided by the use of rver so slight aromatic almost earthy-esque spices I can't quite place that are behind the clean florals, though this still does smell familiar(in terms of its age) in the best way imaginable, and as a guy in his early 20s I do wish Citrus fragrances would return to something more akin to this, but aye a man can dream😔). Wearability should go without saying but this is perfect for casual wearing and ill probably get myself a bottle for hot days, spring days, and to use as an aftershave. Longevity I get around 4-5 hours but keep in mind it was cold as hell when I wore that (raining and 16C° despite it supposed to be around 33C°+ since its an Aussie summer??😂😭), but I can easily see this pushing up to 6 or 7 hours in the heat. Leans very much masculine as is typical with this men's barbershop/fresh Italian men's EDC type of perfume, however I can't imagine it entirely impossible for a lady to wear this if she really enjoyed it and rocked it to a T. In conclusion it'll probably become my dumb reach fragrance and undoubtedly my most worn in summer and dare I say even spring 🗿, there's really nothing bad to say about it, my only gripe is I wish the absolutely divine; sent down by the gods themselves opening, that if prescribe as Amrbos personified, would last longer into the mid, but all great things are fleeting and should be appreciated during their time in the sun. Classic, timeless, familiar yet modern, Likeable across all aspects, undeniably Italian 9.5/10

I've owned 30+ Acqua Di Parma fragrances over the years and if I had to pick one, choose one favourite over all others, Essenza di Colonia would likely be the one. I've owned four bottles of this over the years. Many people have called it the nicest neroli scent ever made and I'd agree with that. It is one of those scents that is more than the sum of its parts. There is magic here. EdC means something to me. You have a sparkling bergamot and citrus opening like the original Colonia, but with a jasmine and white flower body and a base that serves as an anchor only, consisting of some vetiver, rose, some green aromatics, musk, oakmoss, patchouli and amber but with none of these accords jutting out or discernible above the rest. The blending is absolutely magnificent and as classically AdP as you'll ever find. Neroli is star of the show here and EdC showcases how it works with the citrus in the head, other white and yellow florals in the body and everything else in the base. The reissue of this has apparently been slightly reformulated to make it a little brighter and add more floral feel to go with the new clear bottle but it is still excellent and still has the same vibe. The overall effect is beguilingly beautiful in the way the Amalfi Coast is which I am sure is the vibe AdP were going for. I've always found the original Colonia - a superlative day scent - to sometimes not quite give you the richness and depth you want on a night out but EDC is peerlessly versatile. I would absolutely love for AdP to do a La Reserve flanker of this. I do prefer EdC to Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino and Villa Neroli by BDK even though I own both of these too - EdC is cheaper, better balanced, dries down nicer, is more versatile, performs better in Dubai heat and just smells better to me. Performance is in keeping with the notes and so you're always going to see it sink to a (gorgeous) skin scent after 3-4 hours but I have a decant atomiser of this which I would take out with me now and it really rewards an occasional little top up. My dad wears EdC regularly, and so do both my little brothers because I got them into fine fragrances. EdC reminds me of days and nights out with them in Sydney, Singapore, Dubai, London, New York, Porto, Vienna, Munich and on Hamilton Island, eating, drinking, and laughing. I think that is why I love it so much. It is pretty much part of our family at this point. Three Word Summary: The Best Neroli Layering combination: Santal Calling by Ex-Nihilo or Santal Precieux by Caron. Scent - 9/10 Drydown - 8/10 Sillage - 8/10 Bottle/packaging - 7/10 Performance - 4/10 36/50 but is a 50 for me in terms of the emotional connection.

I bought this rather unemotionally, as a summer office fragrance, but I find myself experiencing moments of lucid, uncomplicated pleasure that make it a real joy to wear on a daily basis. The citrus medley in the opening is a high production value experience, like listening to the soundtrack of a youthful impression of summer on expensive speakers: clean and uplifting, but also smoothly three-dimensional. Nothing screeches here, as this composition is blissfully free of the imbalanced dosing of synthetic bergamot that spoils so many fragrances. There is a roundedness to the topnotes that gives the impression of many translucent layers overlapping to create a softly luminous opacity. Imagine a citrus with the texture of petals.This impression is miraculously extended for much of the fragrance’s (solid) running time. A layer of subtle warmth (clove) is discernible beneath the brightness, operating like a buffer between the citruses and earthier elements (mostly, to my nose, vetiver, rosemary, and a little sage.) The effect is interesting, as the base never ends up feeling heavy. Indeed, my impression of Colonia Essenza is almost the reverse of the typical formula: the topnotes feel rich and substantial, while the base treads lightly. What makes all of this possible are some very well-blended soapy musks. I appreciate whatever design and budget went into these workhorse materials, because they do not annoy me over time the way so many musks do (especially on a second application): never coarse or baldly synthetic, they perform the task of stage-managing the other notes perfectly. A few final comments. I like classical French fragrances like Eau Sauvage, Guerlain Vetiver, Paco Rabane Pour Homme, and Habit Rouge. I think the ‘old man’ category is unhelpful for a number of reasons, not least being that all of these fragrances have been popular with young men at some time in history, and, having survived for decades, obviously created an interest that outlived the youth of their first generation of wearers. But I will say that ADP Colonia Essenza has a directness and forward-facing charm that make it feel more modern than those classics I cited. Finally, I could not be happier with the performance – detectable but comfortable projection, a solid workday’s longevity, and a nice fade out that welcomes reapplication if you’re heading for drinks after work. I’m starting to wonder about wearing it all year long.

To my surprise and disappointment — a barbershop scent. The kind that’s a slight step up from Drakkar, like Paco Rabanne, though not quite Azzaro. Maybe a bit like Pasha. Suddenly it turns out to be more oriental than I initially thought. It starts moving toward notes like Chanel Pour Monsieur or Rive Gauche. Will it drop the lavender? The oriental part here is heavy — maybe even more enveloping than in the Chanel. To me, though, it feels like a kind of Chanel knockoff. My opinion drops accordingly. The lavender fades away completely, and what remains is a narrow corridor of sweetness in the Chanel style — but weaker. ⸻ A lot of time has passed, and I can now take this scent more seriously. My citrus–fougère journey has left behind all the Portofinos, Amalfis, Soles di Positanos, and YSL Pour Homme fragrances. Honestly, I haven’t found a citrus scent that truly suits me — they’re either fleeting breezes or old-man trash. Acqua Viva becomes too warm, Eau de Yuzu and Lemon Line are too candy-like, Oranges & Lemons or Melone Grapefruit disappear after 8 minutes, and Dior Cologne is too linear (though I’m not done with it yet). I also can’t get into any mint scents — not You Or Someone Like You, not Minthe by Diptyque, not Beach Hut or Enclave, nor any of the others, which mostly stay linear and merely naturalistic. My only saving grace so far is Aventus — but that can’t be it. I want something more natural, fresher, more connected to nature. That’s why I’m thinking about Essenza — it’s refreshing, citrusy, but maintains the right amount of fougère character, which gives it distinction. It’s genuinely good, without being as old-man-ish as YSL PH. Before buying it, though, I should still have a conversation with the last big contender (to be rejected), Fathom V, and the new player, Lippizan. Essenza has a certain type of unpretentious elegance — like something you’d wear during an intermission at a vernissage on a sun-scorched Mediterranean coast, when people have stepped outside just to breathe for a moment. There’s no real depth here — it’s only hinted at. But that sketch is filled in by life.

Essenza di Colonia by Acqua di Parma: A Dry and Sharp Citrus ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Essenza di Colonia by Acqua di Parma is a perfume that captivated me with its dry and sharp citrus. It reminded me of Hermes Orange Verte, but with a much better performance. It had a complex and sophisticated citrus blend, which was probably made with synthetic ingredients, but still smelled natural and authentic. It was paired with oakmoss and green notes, which gave it a dry and earthy character. The perfume was soapy and clean, but not in a boring or generic way. The soapy term and quality depends on where you live and what kind of soaps you were used to, but in my country, this perfume smelled like a high-quality detergent, which I personally liked. It smelled like the Italian mafia, sharp and well-dressed, but not someone to mess with. It had a strong and confident presence, and it lasted for a long time on my skin. I had a decant from many years ago, which had a nuclear performance. It might have been because of the older batch or the maceration, but I was very happy with it. Acqua di Parma is my top favorite niche brand, and I think they make amazing perfumes. Essenza di Colonia is one of their best creations, and it is not very popular or hyped, which makes it more special and unique. It is probably the least crowd pleasing one among the other colonia flankers, but I don’t care about that. I love it for its dry and sharp citrus, which is elegant and refined. The closest one to it is the assoluta flanker, but that one is more floral creamy and less dry. Essenza di Colonia is a masterpiece, and I give it 5 stars. I loved this perfume so much that I bought a 100ml bottle after I tried the decant. It was a great investment, and I enjoy wearing it every time.

For lovers of the modern barbershop style or for those looking for a citrus perfume with lasting elegance, Colonia Essenza is a sure choice.

Very smooth, complex, Musk heavy (it seems to my nose), so well blended, classic perfumery. Different Musks or at least view of them give a thick texture, layers to the formula. It feels, that naturals were selected beautifully. Very sophisticated and elegant perfume. People who love classic perfumery, orange blossoms and Fougéres - I think, you will appreciate this. Thick, soft, clean, soap like, aromatic, with multiple nuances, natural smelling, sophisticated and elegant. I definitely pick up high concentrations of Orange blossom (Neroli) - both synthetics and essential oil. It seems to be built especially upon high concentrations of Evernyl (oakmoss), Calone, Citrus naturals, Neroli, Musks like Galaxolide, Ambrettolide, Muscone. Liliestralis, Magnolan and other (Lily of the Valley raw materials), Salicylates (especially Amyl Salicylate), which support creamy, thick and clean qualities of the formula even more. This is a masterclass of perfumery, it's too complex to my nose to say something more. Everything is blended in harmony. Perfume doesn't have any sharp edges. It smells finished, complete and reserve. Eugenol (Cloves), a traditional, very strong raw material, can support the spicy quality of the fragrance. I have no doubts, that Patchouli naturals improve the substantialness of the fragrance and Rose accord can also do a great job here. I am 21 and I love it. Many people will not gravitate to it, what I absolutely understand. Classic perfumery in its finest. I think, it is just perfect for professional environment and special occasions. I very appreciate it for perfumers' craftsmanship.

Extremely underrated fragrance. You can easily find this for 65-75 USD per 100ml. Opens with typical high quality ADP citruses and a beautiful neroli soap. The soap stays around throughout, if you’ve ever smelled a florentine soap bar or those expensive bars of soap you can find all over Tuscany, that’s the soap you get here. It’s in a category that I would consider “Italian fougere,” soapy and citrus forward instead of lavender/patchouli. There is a traditional vibe to this but without smelling dated, way more modern imo than Colonia or Intensa. There’s a bit of herbal/green facet here but nothing that sticks out and it’s blended very well. Anyone that likes soapy frags should definitely try this. It’s a decent performer but with how natural it smells I wouldn’t expect it to last long anyways. This is not a fragrance you wear to turn necks, it’s there to make you smell like a clean man who knows what he wants and knows where he is going. it will project moderately for the first couple hours. for anyone that gets intimately close to you, it will smell like you just got out of the shower for 6+ hours after application. Perfect for summer and spring. It’s an unbelievable value at discounters. I think ADP is one of the most overlooked houses. Natural, masterfully blended fragrances from a house that represents the smells of Italy better than anyone else and has a variety of fresh scents. Everyone can find one they really like.

Colonia Essenza is what you should smell like while lounging in the sun on the coasts of Italy, wearing a white button shirt, reading a book, and looking sophisticated. The opening is a strong, straightforward citrus, made up of the highest-quality smelling, zesty lemon, grapefruit and orange. Instead of the bitterness from the pith of a real citrus, you get a fresh, clean note from the florals and musk. This opening combination is best described as invigorating and vibrant. After around an hour or so, the citruses settle, and you start to smell the aromatics and florals which give Essenza its calming soapy vibe - the expensive kind you'd find in hotels. Acqua di Parma seems to be one of the most frequently discounted niche brands, making it cheaper than many of the popular designers, so if you're looking for that hot weather hit, maybe turn your attention away from those Le Beau's and Sauvage's and give Essenza a try. Overall, I think its an excellent summer fragrance, and criminally overlooked. Performance is above average - I can imagine the citrusy freshness radiates all day during the hottest weather. I would pick this over Neroli Portofino ten times out of ten, considering how similar the DNA and quality is for a fraction of the price. Easily the best masculine Neroli fragrance on the market. Do not waste your time buying Neroli Portofino Forte or John Varvatos Artisan Pure. This is better than both of those. The quality of this easily trumps John Varvatos and is on par with Tom Ford but is much cheaper. This thing is super versatile. I repeat super versatile. You can wear this to a club, to work, to a funeral, it will never be out of place. You can wear it any season and any time of day. The performance on this stuff is great. I can smell it 8-12 hours later. Now when you take into account that this is an EDC you have to wonder what the hell Tom Ford is going with his Neroli Portofino line. If you are open to floral fragrances as a man and are considering neroli try this. I hated neroli for a while but I love this stuff. I will also say this fragrance isn't' for kids. This is definitely something a man who has some sort of responsibility would wear. Presentation 9/10 Bottle is gorgeous, can't see juice level atomizer is amazing Scent 8/10 The blend? Amazing. This stuff makes even a shitty, foggy late winter day where the snow has melted into dirty gray slush feel like an all-expense-paid trip to Italy. The citrus in this is so bright and sparkly and fades into the composition nicely in the dry down to create this nice pure soapiness with a semi-modern aromatic fougere edge. It's an expensive soap that you steal from a hotel. It's definitely not modern by any standards, that old school Colonia DNA still carries this fragrance, but I wouldn't pin it as a dated fragrance that only the thirty and up crowd can rock. This DNA and style of perfume in general is so old that it carries a sort of untethered nostalgia, we know it's reminiscent of a different time but it isn't like grandpa's Polo Green or dad's Kouros that might be too familiar and old school for young people. Kind of gives off an old money vibe, which I think is something that is coming back into fashion. Also, for an eau de cologne, the performance on this is really good I get like 6 or 7 hours. As for whether or not I recommend this, if you can get it for around like 70 or 80, it's worth it.

This scent is forever certified balling tier. A modern classic timless scent that embodies everything one looks for in Italian style perfumery. I find this scent is more centered around the neroli and aromatics. I do pick up on some citruses but its not a sharp or bright and zesty citrus to my nose. This scent is beautiful, classy and masculine. It does have that old school vibe but that makes it even better to me. However, it doesn't smell dated or like an old man at all. It's just a modern take on an old school classic DNA. In an age of modern men's fragrances that often lack authenticity Colonia Essenza stands out among the crowd. Timeless, authentic and refined. In my opinion, despite the note breakdown, I find this scent somewhat simplistic. It has a simple goal and that is to smell fantastic. For an EDC it has good performance. I never like commenting on performance since everyones skin will treat scents differently. For me it performs well. This will forever be in my collection. It seems most here are in agreement, this scent is balling.

You spritz Colonia Essenza and in that first moment you’re standing on a sunlit piazza in Italy, early morning light glowing off cobblestones. There’s a burst of citrus—lemon, bergamot, orange—so bright and clean it feels like fresh dew. The sweetness isn’t in your face; it’s refined, luminous, as though the light itself has a scent. As the fragrance warms, it reveals a heart of white blossoms and Italian herbs: neroli, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, and a whisper of rosemary and clove. It’s floral but never fussy—graceful, elegant, with character. The herbs give it a gentle backbone, so it’s not just light and easy; there’s depth alongside the radiance. In the dry-down, soft clean woods, musk, and amber take over. Think fresh linen, polished leather, and a gentle after-shave touch. The skin scent lingers—clean, comforting, sophisticated. It doesn’t try to shout; it wins through subtlety. You feel polished and quietly confident. Longevity is above average, around 8-10 hours on my skin with moderate sillage. Highly Recommended 9/10.

The opening is bright citrus with that classic clean cologne feel. From the first spray it feels sharp, fresh, and very refined. I’ve tried a lot in this style, neroli, colognes, fresh citrus scents. This one still feels different. Not because of the notes, but the way it’s blended. It has that Acqua di Parma touch, classic and smooth. Performance is better than expected for this type. Around 6 hours on skin, maybe 7, and it leaves a nice trail. On clothes it stays longer. No issue with the scent at all. For me it’s more than just a fragrance. I bought it during my hair transplant trip, and I kept wearing it the whole time. Now every time I smell it, it brings back those moments. It became part of that memory. I’d definitely recommend it if you like clean classic colognes with a bit more depth. Easy to wear anytime. You can spray freely, it won’t overwhelm. I sprayed this on paper, smelled it, thought it had a really nice masculine clean scent to it. Came back 15 minutes later and smelled the paper again. It hit me. This smells almost EXACTLY like dryer sheets. You know those things you use after your clothes come out of the washer, and you put a dryer sheet in with your clothes in the dryer? That. I pressed "ctrl + f" on my keyboard to see if anyone else got that and apparently, I'm the only person in the world that smells it. lol. Is that a bad thing? No! It smells very clean. "Fresh linens" is the way I'd describe it. Just a really fresh, clean, yet masculine fragrance. I think I'd prefer this over Creed's Green Irish Tweed. Both are going for a similar end goal of fresh/clean. This would go perfect with formal clothing. Wearing this with a suit I imagine is a perfect combination. The fragrance does NOT seem to last very long. It is a "cologne", so that does make sense since it is not as concentrated as an edt. It seems to be a "skin scent" very quickly.

This scent lasts a lot longer than you might expect for a fresh citrus fragrance that is a Cologne style. I get at least a few hours of longevity. Opening is beautiful and it segs into a soapy feel as everyone has already mentioned. This is going to be the lily of the valley raw materials doing lots of work here whereas in something like suavage cologne you're getting mostly just the citrus and musk. So that one feels more natural than this but it's still a very good pickup. I bought a gift set recently which offset the price quite a bit so I was happy with that purchase, for some reason the gift set was cheaper than buying the individual bottle. But this is perfect for a professional setting and you can still smell the citruses even hours later. 5/5 for me. One day I was actually bored and I sprayed this one and compared it against three other cologne types, the suavage cologne, artisan pure, and this Eau Givenchy. All of those are EDT concentration but somehow this EDC outlasted them all.

I don't know how else to say this, but this fragrance does something to me when I smell it. It makes me feel like an electric current is passing through my brain, sounds dramatic but it's true. Clean and fresh with some lively herbaceous elements. AdP Essenza brightens up your mood and leaves you feeling confident. Its vibe leans more mature, but there are enough touches of modernity to keep it from feeling dated. One presents as refined and deliberate while sporting this gem. It projects within an arms-length for me, for the first hour, then sits closer to the skin. It has decent longevity (maybe 8 hours), but you may not be noticed unless you are walking close by someone after a couple of hours of wear. It's so elegant though that I'm ok with its subtlety. In fact, I think its subtlety enhances its effect when someone catches a whiff. I would highly suggest trying AdP Essenza if you're looking for a fragrance that screams refinement and confidence.

The original Colonia is an absolute love of mine. Essenza turns it up to 11. I love anything that smells like soap. This is the scent of an old-fashioned soap. I still prefer the original for the high heat and during the day, but with the added clove, rose and more herbal character, Essenza makes a great counterpart for the evening and cooler weather. One of my favorites to wear to bed. Opening is gorgeous. Like, eyes roll back with a big moan gorgeous. Quite possibly the best opening I've ever smelled out of about 500 frags. Hell yes! Not for those who prefer modern citrus fragrances? Tell me more! May feel dated to some? I prefer "Timeless".. 11/10.

A classic gentleman scent imho. When I purchased the OG AdP Colonia, and I love it, I decided to blind buy the Essenza flanker. And as expected, I love the Essenza more. It might feel dated for some people (especially for teenagers), so I am sure it is not for everybody. But it is really non offensive scent, so it is one of my office frag staples. Most likely this fragrance will not give you compliment, if that's your main motivation for wearing fragrance (I am not). But for me personally, it gives me clean, mature, neutral, professional aura. That's why it is one of fragrances I wear often if I know I will have a meeting with client on that day (I work as a project engineer in an engineering consulting firm). 2-3 sprays, and I am ready to go. Performance is mediocre, not long lasting, but still better than the OG.
