Note di Colonia III

Haven’t worn this in years and sprayed some on this afternoon. It starts out a bit ordinary and a bit abrasive but drys down smoother and more interesting. Although I liked the opening, I wasn’t sure it was for me until it dried down. When it settled down I really began to enjoy it a lot. The final drydown has the signature ADP soapy, powdery barbershop DNA that I love. This is one of my favorite Acqua di Parma Colonia's. Performance is fairly decent but could be a little better on skin. It smells Italian almost like a Prada l’Homme. I’d sum it up by describing it as a fresh, powdery, sweet coca-cola. It smells very similar to Mancera Tonka Cola with a bit more woodiness. I detect a touch of cedar. It smells delicious, like sweet cake that you want to bite into.

I don't understand the moderate sillage votes because this is a BEAST,and the sprayer is the lightest of the AdP fragrances! A 10/10,it truly is,so beautiful. It gives off the same fruity-smokey-woody vibe as Creed Aventus, not a clone in anyway,and I don't mean to compare, I hate comparing scents but the vibe is similar. This is among the most beastly fragrances in the beast mode section of my collection! The compliment factor is very high as well. I love it,it's a masterpiece and I love AdP. Shelleyan below said it well '10 out of 10 points'

As usual Acqua di Parma does not miss a beat. Bright and fresh citrusy opening notes, spicy jolts of ginger transport the senses in an exciting oriental kaleidoscope, rich in olebane clearly perceptible to dry, to dry-down a fabulous triumph of labdanum and Tonka bean wrapped in a smoky and enveloping myrrh. A fabulous warm and sensual fragrance, which evokes the magic of the East. Amber sillage with spicy aftermath. Good durability.

My favorite in the line. Dry down is clean, resinous, powdery and slightly soapy. Reminds me of a Prada, maybe Iris d'Cedre, but not as cloying or overly powdery. Definitely worth a sample. After a few wearings, to me it sort of sits in between Prada Amber Pour Homme and Amber Pour Homme Intense making it quite versitile. Going to have to pick up a discounted bottle.

Anyone know who the perfumer(s) is/are on this one? Seems to be conspicuously absent from everything I have read. Edit: for those interested, confirmed with AdP... Nicolas Bonneville with the creative direction of Francois Demachy.

I just blind bought this, at first I thought blah its just ok but I keep trying and trying to love it and you know what? Its working!! I'm really starting to understand how beautiful it really is.

Just finished the large decant I bought years ago....what a great fragrance. An absolute pleasure. An insane bargain at some of the prices I've seen this go for.,

Sampled it on paper: the 4 frags of this "Note di Colonia" collection are great, and n.III is the most interesting imo. Beautiful airy AdP's citrusy opening, resinous floral heart, and heavenly resin/myrrh/tonka drydown. Basically a similar opening to Colonia Intensa, and a drydown going towards Colonia Mirra. I should retest it on skin... but at the current retail price I would recommend other fragrances. But when it'll arrive at discounters, I'll rethink it! Edit: I now own it. Crystal-clear masculine leaning fresh opening (citrus/ginger and probably some watery/calone notes also) with a hint of florals, and the drydown is all about a sexy vanillic myrrh bringing it back in the unisex zone (similar to AdP Colonia Mirra and Armani Myrrhe Imperiale) supported by tonka. Heavy projection in the first hour that will become moderate after that, and settles down at the 4-hours mark. Great longevity. Simple, crowdpleasing, but very well blended. At the high-end of the designer world, but still not at a niche level imo. Glad I own it, but also glad that I paid just a fraction of the full retail price. Recommended? Yes, but don't spend more than $150 for a 5oz bottle!

Is this extra special or something that breaks ground? No. However, the blending and quality of this particular fragrances's make up is simply stunning. A gorgeous creation that gives you everything in the range from Acqua Di Parma in a 5oz. flacon like bottle. Take Ginepro from the Mediterranean line, Sandalo Concentree from the Colonia line (sadly discontinued) & Mirrah as well. Then have Colonia Intensa at the very top to give it that clean and soapy freshness and you have this masterpiece of a fragrance. Theres a, richness and depth as the top notes of citrus fade with this woody, vetiver, floral & spice that slowly builds leading into a sophisticated yet simple drydown of subtle sweetness from the Tonka Bean, myrrh and a very leather like clean scent. It's almost Barbershop like sophistication that meets church like stoicism and you have a majestic rendition of 2 separate genres collectively melding as one. This is not for the young'ins of today. This is class, maturity and subtle sophistication. Just a brilliant creation that in terms of quality takes a back seat to no one.

Clearly marketed as Acqua Di Parma's prestige line of perfumes, the Note Di Colonia range are beautiful bottles, beautifully packaged, and contain pleasant and well rounded fragrances. This is the perfect white shirt and suit perfume, to be worn when you wish to feel expensive and confident. However, as with all Acqua Di Parma, its fragrance is light, and does not stick out the day. For the price these regularly retail for, they are not worth it, but if you can get one on sale, then it is a lovely perfume to add to your collection. Note 3 I believe is based on "The Triumphant Return" from the opera Aida, and the fragrance does evoke a victorious and successful image when sprayed. A Soft floral and powdery base, with a strong citrus punch when first sprayed, this is a more refined, breezier and sophsticated cousin of its ADP brothers and sisters.

Last time I smelt this sort of frankincense and vetiver was William Penhaligon, though I'm sure there's closer comparisons. In any case, it opens up with that cologne like manly alcohol blast, and settles into the amber warm but slightly green frankincense vetiver combo. Very smooth, wearable, cologne vibes - surely there's something 1/3rd the price though that does the same thing? Feels natural, even if the reality is it's synthetics, the vibe is quality. Perfect end of summer, should work all year, not quite fresh frag.

This is interesting, particularly with the jasmine/ginger combination with the olibanum/myrhh balsamic accord. Jasmine is a powerful influence and it manifests prominently, especially in the opening. Some people describe it as "abrasive". Its distinctive. Its somewhat powdery, and should probably have a "Powdery" accord listed in the stack. Acqua di Parma Note di Colonia III is good, but not 4.45 rating good for me. I prefer Acqua di Parma's more classic Citrus Aromatic fragrances.

This is a weird (but not bad) neo-Oriental.. I thought it came off a little boozy; myrhh is definitely not the strongest note...

Compared to the absolute work of art that is Note di Colonia I, this is... meh. Yes there are extremely qualitative ingredients. Yes it's suitable for fancy occasions. But it's not a beautiful fragrance in its class, that being ambery fragrances. There are others that are so so so much better. Unlike Note di Colonia I, that is an absolute winner in its category. I wish there was something that really made this a work of art. Maybe more spice.

I loved my grandmother dearly and still miss her nearly 40 years after she left this world. This is a scent she would have liked back as she was getting up in her years back in the 1970's. It would have probably been best used to cover up the smell of cigarettes. While I feel a great sentimentality for the smells of that time this association isn't at all positive. It's just not at all the kind of scent I like now.

FIRST SNIFF: I was introduced to this part of the line by the ADP SA who was tending the perfume bar downstairs at the Houston Neiman's store. She laid out the three scents in this grouping and had me smell each in order. I was informed prior to smelling them that each one is stronger and more full bodied than the last. So the first in the series would be the lightest and most understated. The last the most robust and full-bodied. (a true assessment) Like the others in the group, it immediately obvious that this is a well crafted, well-made scent. This is the crown jewel of the trio! Certainly the most "niche" of the three, it has a strong EDP body that is not only long lasting, but also well projecting. Hard to believe that scent this robust comes from a transparent liquid IMO! THE PICTURE IT PAINTS: Dark room. Hot date. You applied a spartan 2 sprays of this 90 minutes earlier and it is smelling just as good as when you put it on. If this scent were a fabric, it would be thick, heavy layers of silk and velvet. In Dark colors, Maroon, brown, black and gold stitching and embellishments throughout. A scent so warm, and rich, dense and enveloping you want to curl up in it and just sleep forever. IN THE BRAND FAMILY: Because the bottle is Lalique and it is so limited it may be worthy of a collector's cabinet. Of the three in this collection this leans the most niche but it's not weird enough or strange enough to be a strong niche contender IMO. This gives the dark brown bottles of ADP a run for their money to be sure. Full Bottle worthy? - maybe Sample worthy? - YESSSSSSSSSSSSS PARTING THOUGHTS: There is a definite cedar wood presence here that (unlike most cedar notes) is remarkable and well done. It seems like it is sitting 8 feet from me, an amazing effect to be sure. A mysterious and confusing effect seems to be caused by this scent - each time I sniff it i smell something different. Like a strange painting in a horror movie that changes to something different each time I turn away from it and I look back and see it has changed but I didn't see anyone or anything happen to cause it. I have that kind of feeling with this. Like each sniff is giving me a different take on the while scent profile. This scent is a winner, the only one you need to know or pay attention to should your path ever cross the Note di Colonia collection.

Note III opens with a mild orange, imbued with incense resins that make the aroma very bold and heady. Myrrh is certainly the key player. I don't like this application of myrrh, I've seen it in a number of other fragrances, and I find it to have the same the same effect for them all. It gives the fragrance a very crude feeling. The oversoul of Note III is very much like Note II. They feel kindred to one another. Note III is a bit more tame and tapered by raw comparison, but still gives me a very similar impression as Note II. It's like you walk into the bathroom after your girlfriend is done; and she forgets to flush the toilet; and you slip and fall, and your arm dunks inside the toilet (but she's such a sweetheart—it's not as bad as it could be). I hate to say that this fragrance could be therapeutic, but I guess it could have that effect, if at least something. I don't find that it's very high energy. It's kind of gloomy—like Note II. That being said, it doesn't do much for being active. I don't get much more out of the notes either. Pretty much just a dominant mild orange with lots of hazy resins underneath. It kind of lacks the sweetness to be attractive, so I can't say I see any potential in formal wear. And I don't think you would turn many heads or impress anyone with this either. It's a bit too underwhelming and simple for that unfortunately. Performance was incredibly average. A little stronger than Note II. But sadly—to no avail. The orange is much more dominant than anyone has testified. It remains strong throughout the duration of the fragrance. Yet once again—not really to much avail. An atrocity to the Note di Colonia line to say the least.

The best out of the 5 'Notes', I agree with the reviewer below me. Well blended, transparent amber-tonka cologne. The notes that shines here is labdanum. I happen to love that note. I’d say this is a super upscale designer that is modern, chic and likeable. This is for people that don’t do ‘beast mode’. Honestly I am not crazy about beast mode performance on men anyway. While it is really good, I do think this is overpriced. It is not worth over 150 euro for 150 ml. Quality should, and can be had at a lower price point.

Found a bottle for 148 dollars. For that price I think this is good. Basically a fresher take on amber and resins with a faint soapy dry down. A nice wear when you don’t want to beat people over the head with your fragrance. Summer nights / fall would be best times to wear imo although winter would be fine as well. This smells attractive without giving off cologne bro vibes which I hate.

Very interesting and unexpected smell. It has a fresh (even cologne like) vibe to it despite the seemingly heavy and opaque notes (probably because it's AdP after all lol). That freshness comes from the combination of mandarin, ginger and jasmine. And myrrh here is fizzling and coke like, reminds me of serge lutens myrrh.
