Osmanthus Eau de Parfum

I've never met an Acqua di Parma I didn't like. They are all classy, refined, very nicely blended fragrances that fundamentally I like to smell. I like the way they smell on testing strips and I like the way they smell on me. I've also never found one that lasts how I wished it would. As someone with close to 200 bottles in the collection and having got my nose on thousands of fragrances in my life, I still maintain that Colonia Essenza would be one of my top five fragrances of all time if it was a genuine 8 hour performer that stayed in for a whole day the way it does in the fabulous first two hours. I still think Bergamot di Calabria is one of the greatest citrus freshies ever made and that its longevity is the main reason it isn't exalted in its rightful place by the FragCom. I also think Sandalo is criminally underrated for the same reason. But at some point you kind of have to accept that their fragrances are what they are, and the price of such great blending, fine ingredients and (comparative) lesser use of Ambroxin, Habanolide and DPG as performance enhancers and sticky fixatives means that they are beautiful creations that you have to enjoy for what they are and stop comparing them to others. I feel that way about Sakura for example which is as beautiful and artistically fleeting as it is tender and evocative. So it is also with Osmanthus, which I've owned since 2019 and is one of the finest, most cinematically lush florals I've ever got my nose on. If I describe the neroli and osmanthus in this (oddly, the neroli is stronger and more distinct that the eponymous osmanthus accord here) as "effervescent and sparkly" you get an idea of how it feels on the skin. There is this orange blossom note on it that is dominant for the first hour or so and the blending of how it works with the florals is the big show here. It is so rich and full of golden sunshine. AdP aren't known for flamboyance but this has it. I reviewed Pas Ce Soir by BDK yesterday and this is an even more sunny and bright fruity floral but the pink pepper and the stronger patchouli in this makes it more unisex to my nose. There is some musk mallow in the heart that is one of more overt uses of a fixative to extend life that you'll find from AdP but it doesn't dominate and actually works nicely in bringing everything together. It pushes the performance out to three to four hours sillage and another three on the skin, which is about as good as these accords could feasibly get I feel. Even so, it is obviously not an all day wearer and you will need to top up at lunchtime if you want it to continue to perform. And that is okay. By AdP standards it is one of the better performers and is no slouch. Good enough is good enough. Try not to wish for more and just appreciate what it is. What you have here is your good jeans, a nicely fitted, crisp white shirt with the top few buttons undone, sleeves rolled up half way, suede loafers and Tom Ford sunglasses. It is a bright and warm day by the sea with cobalt blue skies and the taste of an Aperol Spritz making your mouth water. Everything seems to slow down and become more cinematic. You walk slower. You lean back into your posture. You smile at women and they smile back. You catch the surprised and captivated way people turn round to second glance you when they catch your sillage. It is a picture that is real enough not to feel mendacious but idealised enough to feel ideal. Osmanthus is the olfactory soundtrack to this. I am very proud and fortunate to live here in beautiful Dubai where such times and occasions are regular occurrences and the sun is a nearly ever-present hot companion. It is probably little surprise to note then, that Osmanthus is a much more regular reach for me here than it was when I lived in rainy, cold and humourless Rotterdam. I think they call that progress. Understanding the house Aqua di Parma for what it is, I really do love Osmanthus. I've owned and loved Magnolia Nobile, as well as a few other Acqua di Parma fragrances, so I know this house's signature notes and I know what to expect. Typical for this "line" of perfumes, as well as most of the Aqua di Parma fragrances, Osmanthus does not disappoint because its notes are simple, high end, expertly executed and well defined. Osmanthus is no exception with definable top notes that are citrusy & spritzy neroli and green mandarin orange. These opening notes beautifully blend with middle floral notes of peony, other gentle white florals & ambrette (musk mallow). Something that tickles the nose, which I assume is pink pepper makes an appearance. And all of these lovely fragrances & ingredients perfectly land with Osmanthus, more musk and slight patchouli. Now, I'm reminded by some folks that this Osmanthus doesn't approach the fragrance of the real thing. And I'm not quite sure I've ever experienced fresh, true Osmanthus. But whatever it is, Osmanthus is a lovely, ethereal, soft & delightful perfume fragrance, surely not offensive in any way. I would never define this fragrance as unisex, as it reads completely feminine to my tastes. Unfortunately like many Aqua di Parma perfumes, longevity isn't great @3-4 hours, silage is moderate. I love Osmanthus a whole lot. Just not sure if it is full bottle worthy ONLY because of the price point and because of my history with Aqua di Parma fragrances. Sometimes, I just need a brief departure. In general, this perfume is a 9/10.

Aqua di Parma’s Osmanthus EDP is a beautiful, light, aethereal, sweet floral with strong fruity nuances and a subtle spiciness. The star of the show for me is as expected the osmanthus flower, combined closely together with peony, pink pepper and a very bright mandarine. The ambrette creates a soft, velvety base, together with a clean patchouli leaf. Everything is very smooth, flawlessly blended and perfectly balanced. It’s perfect for spring and summer season and smells very pretty and feminine. Is it worth the hefty price tag though? Not quite sure because of how it performs. Yes, patchouli in the base usually helps fragrances with longevity, which is moderate for this scent, but sits close to the skin. It’s an intimate scent but nonetheless very beautiful! I am sold if I could get it for a decent price that would match in my mind the mediocre performance!

I’ve always had a goal of finding fragrances that remind me of my travels. Acqua di Parma’s Osmanthus is the Christmas that I spent in New Orleans. If you stroll through the Garden District in December, you will frequently get wafts of the blooms of the sweet olive trees - AKA osmanthus. And this is as natural smelling as you’re going to find. Truly an archetype for accurate note representation. Sublime. That being said, I wouldn’t blind buy this if you aren’t already familiar with the osmanthus flower. I do think I may have written this one off as being too intensely floral for my tastes had I not made the NOLA association and sought this out. But the human mind is a fickle force, and this is one of my loves and my only true travel association fragrance success story to date.

This is a really good one. I agree it's waayy overpriced but damn it smells so good! Will probably get an FB for the scent alone. I saw this being compared to Inle so I checked its notes and the moment I saw jasmine note, I'm out. I won't even bother comparing both scents since jasmine note is headache inducing to me. I adore Osmanthus the way other people adore and repurchase Jo Malone's Wood Sage & Seasalt despite the performance lol. Will probably have to douse myself in this to last long on me lol.

ADP Osmanthus smells like high-end hotel shampoo. I don't usually go for fragrances in this genre, but I really do enjoy Osmanthus, especially that lovely dry-down! This is florals done very well & the patchouli in the base isn't harsh, it actually blends quite nicely. Osmanthus is a perfect everyday fragrance, especially in spring. This isn't a big statement grabber so she's definitely an appropriate perfume for the office or any type of environment where you don't want to offend anyone.

It's a beautiful sparkling scent that's for sure. I get the neroli, orange and osmanthus up front. It's tragic that it fades so quickly. I had to remind myself that it was an edp. To be fair these are all top notes so they were never gping to hang around long. It doesn't evolve much. I admit it smells very classy and natural like all the fragrances from this house. I certainly wouldn't pay the sums they are asking for. Below average sillage and longevity.

Beautiful fresh and floral perfume, gloomy packaging for such a radiant perfume! I completely was not expecting such a fresh perfume!. The Green Mandarine is most dominant and makes it fresh and also open to unisex. The pink pepper adds this depth and warmth, and you can wear this in the spring and fall. They should have marketed it differently. I love it!

How does this have such a low review number? This is a stunning floral scent. One of the ways AdP shines brightest. Soft Osmanthus touched with neroli and patchouli, it is an acquired floral. Very sophisticated smelling. I purchased a sample of this and immediately had to get a full bottle. It is truly a beautiful and unique scent.

This stuff is mind blowing. It swoons and develops it's way into a charming sweet succulent floral scent with creamy indolic and sweet undertones. It's fresh and invigorating but very pristine with the sweetness and all of this is contained in a sap of musky indolic mysterious sexiness. Gorgeous stuff! 9/10

The top note is fresh with mandarin and the osmanthus comes out after a while. I like it and it is my daily perfume for working. It is not aggressive at all. I would decribe it like a gentle and kind lady who is innocent and smart. However, this wont last long and it is so intimate

One of the nicest Neroli fragrances I ever smelled. Doesn't smell like something old but not very youthful either. Very good projection. I like it as much as petite matin. For me it is a mix between petit matin and Escentric 5.

Best 2020 blind buy so far. Smooth, classic, clean, fresh, happy go fragrance, totally genderless, inoffensive, all year round perfume and got it for less than 100US. LOVE

Won't go into the nitty gritty of the things but this straight up is a heavenly aroma. Absolutely beautiful composition that smells otherworldly and ethereal.

First thing first, as an Asian I can safely say that this is a Western perfumer's interpretation of osmanthus, and not a true recreation of the osmanthus scent. That said, I do think it's a pleasant one. This perfume has really strong projection and lasting power, so a word of caution to people who have sensitive noses: spray sparingly. When I first wore it, I sprayed it on my collarbone and was greeted with the most overpowering, cloying scent of cheap jasmine essential oils. The longevity was good so unfortunately it gave me a headache the whole day. Thankfully I gave it a second chance. This time I sprayed less and chose to spray it on my inner elbow instead of collar bone. That did wonders! I still think it smells more like a mixture of jasmine and magnolias, but it's pleasant and very feminine. However, it is on the expensive side, and I wouldn't pay full price for a bottle of it. (I had staff discount at the airport duty free, so it was heavily discounted.)

This is a lovely floral perfume that is recognizable as Acqua di Parma right away. It’s a little aldehyde-fizzy in that 1948 way, and has a nicely balanced fruity-floral character. I am not really blown away by the Osmanthus note, but it does show itself prettily as it dries down. I was looking specificallly for Osmanthus fragrance, and this one does not quite scratch that itch for me. If you’re into Osmanthus, I recommend Perris Monte Carlo as a good, accessible, satisfying interpretation. However, if you are into the Acqua di Parma style, and want to see how they do Osmanthus, this is it.

this fragrance is stereotypically more feminine because it's a sweet white floral, which i feel like most people associate with feminine scents, but i could totally see a guy rocking this during the summer heat and just smelling so refreshing. to my nose, i'm first and foremost hit with tart, juicy mandarin, and it's tied down by the white florals, which help give it a powderiness as well. it's a beautiful scent, very simple and easy to digest. i could totally see this being someone's signature summer scent. but i just can't see myself buying a full bottle of a citrusy floral for $300.

The osmanthus is a little shapeshifter in this EDP: at times I detect the leathery nuances of osmanthus absolute, at other times the apricot side. However, the osmanthus is always hidden behind sharper citrus and floral notes, and as I prefer the warmer and sweeter side of osmanthus, I did not find what I was looking for in this fragrance. All in all it is a nice fragrance if you are looking for something refreshing with citrusy and floral aspects, but I would not recommend it if you are looking for an osmanthus-centric fragrance.

This is a soft white floral and fresh scent. Its main notes are osmanthus and neroli. That's about as much as there is to say about it. It is nice, however, as the simplicity of it is pleasant. The performance is decent too. It felt very intimate on me, I couldn't really notice any sillage. It lasted for about 4-5 hrs at most on my skin. It is quite overpriced imo, and not worth it, unless if you have a lot of spending money. 6.5/10. The scent was nice but wasn't necessarily special. The performance wasn't more than average.

I am obsessed with Acqua di Parma. I got my s/o Sandalo and I’ve been trying to collect Acqua di Parmas different scent offerings ever since. I like Osmanthus. It’s an aquatic floral, citrus scent with pink pepper to add that bit of spice to make things interesting. I think it leans feminine but I know some young men who wear it and it smells amazing on them too. It is interesting enough to not be boring, but inoffensive enough for a variety of palettes

Beautiful summer floral. It’s the PERFECT “fresh out of the shower” scent. It smells like an expensive hand soap you put in the guest bathroom and forbid any members of the household from using. Unfortunately it lasts about as long as actually being fresh out of the shower or the scent of hand soap. I wish I could justify the price but I feel like needing to reapply every hour or two would mean spending $300 on a bottle I’d run out of in a month.

very fresh! imidiate scent i got was floral pione but not in a heavy obstructing way, so soft and sweet. like seeing a medow out the window and sensing its smells. white floral heavy, the orange note goes strong for a few seconds and then dissapears. i love it. very clean girl coded but at the same time with the perfect amount of soft pillow princess vibes.

To me this is a plain friendly osmanthus. Maybe leaning a little into a fruit zone, almost orange but it’s pulp and not the zest. It holds pretty well and dissolves into something less resembling of the flower after 4-5 hours but stays on skin persistently. I wouldn’t get it for myself because it’s too friendly-neutral on my skin.

Half osmanthus and half neroli. The neroli here is more like orange blossom, dainty white florals without the greeness or woodiness. The osmanthus is the same as the one in Inle (but without the bitter mate tea), or Osmanthus Yunan (without the leather). The scent profile is quite nice, but the sillage and longevity are poor.

Fresh apricot with a little bit of orange and watery pear, a touch of green, plus light floral notes. A very apricot-forward osmanthus that has a vague shampoo-like cleanliness to it and no leather accord. Soft initial projection strengthens slightly over the first hour and fades back over 2-3hr, longevity 5-6hr.

I like this one! It's a lovely floral, but like many of the scents I have tried from this brand, it does not last long. Nice and fresh smelling but would require too many touch ups over the course of one day.

Very nice, soft and smooth floral with noticable neroli and osmanthus. Stays close to skin, however remains on clothes the next day.

If you know how real osmanthus flowers smell and you are looking specifically for that in this perfume, you will probably be disappointed. The osmanthus scent here is more fruity than floral - it has an apricot character and is not too sweet or dense. Combined with the mandarin note, this perfume is a pleasant fruity floral and is easy to wear for spring and summer, but it does smell a bit synthetic (which I am okay with. ) HOWEVER, in my opinion, a scent that is very close to real osmanthus flowers (such as Serge Lutens Nuit de Cellophane) is probably more suitable as a room scent than a personal fragrance, because the sweet and dense (almost a little bit dusty) character can easily get cloying as a personal fragrance.

wow, i tested this on my hand and i told my friends "this kind of smells like green mandarin" before looking at the notes lol. the florals reminds me of a kind of subdued daisy by marc jacobs. i am not good at identifying floral notes so I apologize if that is a weird comparison. I'm definitely getting a white gummy bear scent as well lol. i quite like it, but you would think it would have some longevity at this price point. i believe it lasted no longer than 3 hours.

I am writing this review to prevent you from doing the same mistake as I did. This is an OK perfume, nothing groundbreaking but that's not the problem, why the heck was this called OSMANTHUS? It has nothing to do with the natural gorgeous smell of the plant. To my nose it's a simple inoffensive GENERIC fruity floral composition that doesn't worth the name OSMANTHUS. Please pm me if you have a real feminine osmanthus suggestion <3

On tester paper this smelled like peach/apricot tea. On my skin this pulled weirdly medicinal. I went about my day and through my mask my wrist smelled a little like osmanthus jelly - one of my favourite desserts - but mask-off it smells like any old generic powdery/soapy body lotion. The medicinal feeling never faded through my day's wear of it. It's not bad by any means, but it wasn't what I was looking for after all.

Lacks body and falls a bit flat. There are light florals and sugary sweetness on top and an amberwoody/musky/patch base but nothing in between to connect these poles so the scent comes off diluted and poor with a dominating earthy muskiness. Initially I also get a hint of halitosis. Not bad but nothing special either, especially considering the price. Recommend sampling first.

A pleasant, traditional, summery floral EDP that's more on the fresh/summery side, certainly not something anyone could object to. For me it smells like an imagined traditionalist wealthy woman. Not quite my usual personal vibe but by no means a bad way to smell.

Easy to wear office-safe floral summer/spring fragrance with a nice green mandarin opening. It’s performance is not great tho. However, when layering with molecule 02 (Ambroxan), it does get better.

smells more floral neroli and orangish fresh opening. I don't pick up osmanthus at all. It is fine tho i would wear this but I bought this expecting osmanthus and I don't get it

Really nice osmanthus note, and I still get the house DNA, but it's too short-lived to get excited about. They should fix performance issues.

Leans too feminine to my nose and "perfumy". Would be good on a woman but not for me.

This smells so good when you first spray it, nothing like the top notes shown here but more like sugary sweet bubblegum osmanthus (not like the pink bubblegum, more like that really hard rubber-y gum that loses its taste in about 30 secs). As soon as it changes, it's disastrous. You know when you catch a cab on a hot summer day and the air freshener hanging off the rearview mirror has this like synthetic, loud smell that ends up giving you a headache? If you want that experience in a bottle, you can spend a whole lot of money on this perfume. The dry-down gives you some more osmanthus again and that's pleasant but you can tell it's still perfume-y in all the wrong ways. In short: generic, synthetic, overblended, smells much cheaper than it really is. If you're an osmanthus lover like me, I'd look elsewhere.

Smells like a vintage lipstick or toilet air freshener to me... I really wanted to love this, but I’ll have to let it go. Osmanthus works for me only when it is paired up with tobacco like Amouage Sunshine and PDM Herod.

i don't know real osmanthus scent. At first it smells fine. It's fine floral. But soon after there smells something unpleasant animalic scent. If it's osmanthus, i don't like osmanthus.

Tested this today in John Lewis (UK) Very fruity and feminine, tough for a guy (like me) to pull off. Weirdly, I kept sniffing it as if compelled to, yet didn’t really like it.

Being a fragrance review novice, I am still intimidated by all of you but I will give this a shot. I received this fragrance blind from a subscription service. When I read the notes before receiving it, I thought I was not going to like it because I generally do not like floral fragrances. But I was so pleasantly surprised! To me, this is a "fizzy" floral; fresh and clean with the floral notes thinly veiled in the citrus and pink pepper. My only complaint is that it disappears after a couple of hours on my skin. One other thought: To me, this is a VERY feminine fragrance and I would have a hard time envisioning it for a man. Thank you!

I blind bought this perfume a couple of weeks ago. I read that it was reminiscent of Gucci Flora, which is my go to favorite, plus my husband loves Acqua Di Parma and I have been looking for a fragrance from that company that I like. I could not be happier. It is delightful. Indeed, reminiscent of Gucci Flora, but more sophisticated, sexy. Perfect for summer, bright, happy, exuberant. Got an amazing price on it too, which is all the better.

Pleasant enough, but lacking the airiness that I’ve come to expect of osmanthus. I tried this and Yuzu from the same brand. This was initially softer and nicer but the Yuzu developed better over time while Osmanthus simply faded. I wouldn’t spend £250 on this, I would probably prefer the l’Occitane Osmanthus or Shay and Blue White Peaches. It’s a little harder to say no to the Yuzu but maybe a little decant for a treat?

The green mandarin at the opening is fresh and pretty, but it fades quickly and the neroli becomes dominant (not a good thing for me as I don’t love neroli). I love both ambrette and patchouli but I’m not getting much of either one—mostly a fresh white floral similar in my mind to many designer offerings. It’s nice, and I could see people being perfectly happy with it, it’s just not for me.
