Acqua di Portofino Uomo

I thought I'd grab a half used small bottle of this discontinued vintage at a reasonable price when the chance came. What I found was the initial spray really is rather reminiscent of the hills of Liguria. There's a burst of grapefruit, jasmine, basil, olive trees, lavender, and some spiciness added with nutmeg, black pepper, pimento and some star anise on first spray. I don't get any blackcurrant though. About half an hour later there's some sandalwood, musk and a hint of vetiver. It's only an intimate skin scent even at this stage despite a decent sprayer. An hour in and it's already very, very faint. Some two and a half hours in and I can only smell it on one arm and by four hours it's all gone. I'm not sure if this is a reflection on the individual bottle and it's age and how it might have been kept or whether it's a fair reflection of the longevity and durability others might have. The smell is lovely and all very Italian. I'd say it works for spring, summer and autumn, day and night. The lack of longevity means that you can use it in the office in the morning and be able to wear something else later on. I like it but it's such a shame you would have to drench yourself in it to be able to get much out of it.
