Saints Tears - Extrait of Forgiveness

Inspired by the childhood home of the creative director/perfumer this is through and through a niche experience.Supposedly inspired by an old rural church with centuries of burnt candles and incense creating an unique smell and ambience it has a clear vision off what it wants to be. The scent itself smells like slightly damp and dusty air blended with an authentic smelling incense, reminent of the type burnt at some concerts or in chatolic churches. This is definetly aimed more as something you wear for yourself and personal plessure rather than daily public use.It's succesfull in recreating the scene described and for that the perfumer deserves credit, as it's very well executed.Personally i use it to get in a relaxed state of mind or as a room spray for pure ambience and well being. Presentation is a solid 10/10, hand painted bottles, painted wooden box and leather details? And locally made by the area its inspired by, can't get much more fun to unbox than that. All in all a solid option if you're looking to try the creative kinda niche or a good incense scent.

Had it for a year and am still head over heels for it. Smoky church incense, something herbal somewhere in there too. There is a powderyness and a warmth to it. Potent with good silage- maybe my favorite from this artist with urma vie as a close second. Cold weather brings out the best of it but I find it enjoyable year round. The travel size bottle is also stunning.

on me there is a little more amber than i love in my incense, and strangely an almost torrefied chocolate note. nice beautiful woodiness though, smells like a chorus of pews patina ed with the passage of time and many application of beeswax to preserve them. a bit dusty too.

This is church incense without being too sweet or smokey. It is very resinous and with the dry down, you get a lot of the cedar.

Initial notes: Sharp, resinous and camphorous, earthy, a bit menthol. All in all it feels a little bit in the vein of Terre d'Hermès without the citruses, and the details are much better. Some might find the opening too sharp and off-putting, but waiting a bit is worthwhile. Mid: It takes an hour to fully establish the mid notes, I would not say I can clearly say "Myrrh!" and "Labdanum!", but there is a lot of resins in there, no doubt, and they develop a touch of sweetness. I must qualify "sweetness" here, because it is the same way that an entirely dry white wine has some rounded fruitiness i.e. not gourmand at all – far from it. I think the mid notes mimic the mixture of oldschool furniture wax and incense incredibly well. Even the dusty, mineral touch from naked medieval church walls is there. Base: There is plenty of woodiness from cedar and oak moss, but it is kept in the background throughout, due to the powerful top and mid notes that lingers for so long. Performance: Excellent performance in terms of sillage, projection and longevity. I advise moderation, because some noses are certainly more sensitive to the terpenes in resins than others, and they will quickly be overwhelmed. Quality/price: Approximately 200€ for a piece of art is very good value (admittedly for 50ml). If you are into incense and the like, there is nothing better than this that I have ever smelled. It is ridiculous to think of the fact that people pay twice the price of this for fairly generic perfumes with off-the-shelf synthetic ingredients. Meta: Fantastic boxing and bottling that you want to keep visible in your bathroom. Independent artistry with the aid of young talented perfumers daring to experiment. As a "package" there are obvious nods to goth culture from the 80s/90s, (and it smells genuinely like those clubs would smell at the time minus the cigarettes, beer and sweat) but it also invokes childhood holiday memories from museums, churches and certain people I have met. Occasions, thoughts: This is not a perfume for cinema, theatre and car journeys/thickly crowded spaces because some people will genuinely react negatively to it. I suppose that goes especially for the US where such notes that this fragrance has are really rare. I must admit this is a bit sharp for my personal liking the first half hour, and I would probably layer it ever so slightly with something soothing. This is due to the fact that there seems to have been made a choice to create it as unisex that makes it a bit more top heavy than it needed to be. It is easy to think of ways to tame it just a tiny little bit. On the other hand, that could quickly forgo the authenticity it represents after all (at least for my nose and olfactory memory). Generally it should also work fine the year around the way it is composed. All in all I do love this as a bit of an eccentricity I could use for certain occasions, and keep the bottle visible at home.

After being very sceptical about this one, my partner ended up getting me this for my birthday. Don’t ask me how but he found it which I found absolutely impossible. To me, this is really beautiful and smoky, but it gives of a very almost goth type vibe to me when I spray it, I think of a church or in fact, maybe even a funeral. But at the same time, very enchanted, Forest. Honestly, I could not pick out the notes from just smelling all I know is this is quite different to all my other fragrances, which is why I kept it after that huge Declutter . Do I love it, I don’t know??? This is one that definitely captures attention.

It smells as if a church was holding a wood cutting class while having churchy incense burning while the class was going on. love it.
