Cierge De Lune

Initially projects the same joy as Gucci Pour Homme II - warm cinnamon spice balanced against a blue marine chord. Up close, is quite different. Pillowy and ethereal with a drying must. Similar to the nostalgia of a welcoming basement or garage. There's a tang that's more juicy than metallic countering the dry presence. Tenuous balance keeps you coming back. Harmony of bright notes, spice, and dry settle into being quite irresistible. Damp sassafras bark. Alluring sexiness becomes addictive. The elements end up pairing so seductively. Leans more cozy than formal. Impossible to resist on a date. Incredibly intoxicating air radiates warm amber, incense, and almost more tonka bean than vanilla - all meld gorgeously without going too far. Drying laundry note keeps things in balance. It fluctuates, but quite stunning. Spraying on clothes evokes a unique nostalgia that's almost painful. Like remembering your childhood couch or rides in a new car. Hours later, shocked that skin continues to project as much as clothing. Not overbearing, just right - this found the sweet spot. Still radiates warm spice with a tasteful dry chord that's impossible not to sink into in delight. So tasteful, yet so comforting. Who wouldn't want a bottle of so much pleasure? 1ST REVIEW: Incredibly warm and cozy. Amber, vanilla, incense, tobacco. Dry suede beautifully counters sweetness and adds maturity. Fall/winter vibes that’s easy to like and most would find appealing. Others identify as powdery, which is a turn-off, but this one doesn’t bother me - more a means to transport scents than a defining chord. Incense and tobacco become dominant in the drydown. Took some warming up to, but the fact it's so enjoyable for so long solidifies it as a must own. Towards the end, it really hit that indescribable 'umami' sweet spot. Very yummy! Not identical, but if you want a similar experience, try "Mon Patchouly" by Ramon Monegal

Wow this is gorgeous! The vanilla is immediate, rich and boozy - characteristic of very fine Madagascar vanilla. The same kind of richness that you get with Cologne of the Missions, which surprised me because as I understand it, perfumers haven’t been able to get that kind of vanilla absolute since pre-pandemic. Apparently, things have changed. On my skin, this turns into a complex, woody suede after about two hours. I have no idea how cactus flower should smell, but I’m guessing it may be the thing that adds that tiny, exotic “umph”. The first time I wore it, I was disappointed in the lasting power, as I couldn’t detect it after three hours. Broke my heart. However, I discovered on second wearing that I probably just go nose-blind to this one, as I received several compliments (at arm’s length if you’re wondering about projection) after the 3-hour mark and long after I’d become anosmic. This is the third Aedes that I’ve sampled, and not one has failed to impress. I do lament the bottle redesign, though. The old style was so elegant. These are just meh 🫤. The other mark against it is the prohibitively expensive retail price - jeez! I haven’t tried Perle Rare Gold by Panouge (the pyramid is nearly identical) because it has been difficult to locate ANY Panouge. Aren’t they related to the ADV brand somehow? In any case, the higher price of this is enough to make me want to seek out something cheaper....but it’s a love. Hard-core, at first spray and last whiff - a LOVE. My sample was empty waaaaay before I wanted to try something else.

Cozy, powdery vanilla and soft suede. The vanilla in this reminds me so much of Kenzo Amour, which is one of my favorite easy reachs for colder days. When I tried Cierge de Lune the first time I wore Amour as my SOTD earlier and still had some remainds of it on me, and I didn't understand where the one fragrance started and the other ended. They both make me feel like I have a semi-transparent cloud of fluffy vanilla around me, and I love that. The other notes are quite different though. Cierge de Lune has a lovely suede note, a very light layer of cool smokiness from the incense and quite a bit of hot and spicy pepper, so the fluffiness is broken up a little. If Amour is a pink cashmere sweater, this is a beige suede jacket. Amber in the base makes it warm, but some sparkling fresh florals keep it from being smothering. Aedes describes them as a 'crystalline accord' on their website, and I think that's pretty spot on. This is not a dark and heavy scent, it's rather airy and has an understated elegance to it. It's clean, but warm with some spice, vanillic but not overly sweet or gourmand. If you enjoy softer, more feminine leather scents and vanilla fluff, I don't think you can really go wrong with this beauty.

Cierge de Lune was pretty much love at first sniff. A really beautiful powdery , floral vanilla. Top notes as mentioned are a musky powdery note and clearly legible. The powdery note lingers for a while here and is joined by a gorgeous vanilla note, one of the best I have sniffed in a while. The Ylang ylang adds the floral aspect to the heart while the pepper and hedione cant be sniffed in isolation as such but there is a spicy sharpness to the blend which nicely amplifies the powdery vanilla. The fragrance fades slowly to a nicely done musky amber dry down with nuances of incense and leather or suede if you go by the notes. But make no mistake, the frag is built around the vanilla note which is definitely the star here. Projection is a good 6 feet for the first hour or so before settling in to around 2-3 feet around you with a solid scent bubble. Longevity likewise is a solid 7-8 hours. This is a winner in the performance stakes without a doubt. Final Thoughts-: Definitely Full bottle worthy for me. Really like this one from Aedes de Venustas. If you have any sort of liking for vanilla notes, you owe it to yourself to check this one out.

I adore this fragrance. It's simply the coziest, most luxurious-feeling cocoon of a scent. On my skin it is suede-dominant with a prominent, powdery vanilla and incense. The pepper also enhances the suede, rather than standing out as an independent note. The florals and amber accord remain in the background for me. I only had a tiny sample that predated the relaunch of the whole line so my bottle is the new version. It's always had a relatively modest projecton on me and the longevity comes down to a number of factors, but it certainly isn't long lasting. This has no bearing on the scent itself, but I'm really disappointed in the new packaging. The original bottle design was sleek, elegant and really stood out. This one is a definite downgrade. The cap is particularly awful, with opposing magnets that if placed wrong, will just jump off the bottle. Atomizer is easily scratched too. Edit: I got my hands on Perle Rare Gold which I have reviewed and compared to CdL. It's softer, sweeter and more feminine-leaning, but close enough that I can suggest to check it out.

sophisticated and nuanced scent. If you want full frontal vanilla then buy Tahota, but if you want a vanilla that is creamier and far more complex then this may be your best choice. Aedes de Venutas prides itself on blending together scents that are olfactory journeys that unfold and develop in a way that is subtle but impressive. I don't need to smell my wrist when I wear Tihota-- it envelops me. This one makes the effort of leaning forward and bringing my wrist up to smell this one on my skin a sensual journey worth taking throughout its longevity, which is ok but not great. I find is sensuous too. One of the better scents I have tried in a while. Full bottle worthy for sure if you are partial to subtle, complex scents.

I knew I would love this just by looking at the pyramid, but I said ... Hey, you also believed that it in the past and it wasn't always true! (I'm looking at you two: Skin on Skin and Putain des Palaces). So I bought a sample! Yes, yes, yes! This is so feminine and classy. I will come back with further impressions. Edit: I really love it! Although somewhat linear, I smell from the beginning to the end some powdery heaven similar to the drydown of Hypnotic Poison, which I adore. And the performances are great (12 h +. I was wearing Coromandel when I tested it and at the end of the day the most intense smell came from my wrist where I sprayed Cierge de Lune)!

In the past few years, Cierge de Lune has been my fragrance of choice for cultural musings, such as art exhibitions, cozy fall afternoons with friends in cafés and dinners in white-tableclothed restaurants. To me, the sophisticated, but not too serious, aura of this scent matches those settings perfectly. Cierge de Lune is a smooth amber-vanilla fragrance that becomes spicier in the drydown, but never loud and potentially disturbing to others. It blends into your environment, without taking it over. This is definitely one of my favorite amber scents out there.

A soft,elegant and special parfum. Vanilla is the note that i feel the most, but there is also the creaminess of the ylang that makes the scent really very sophisticated! The vanilla here is not as sweet as you can think, but it is slightly "spicy", beautiful shades and touches of incense in the distance. An unforgettable fragrance,it's like a painting! This does smell so yummy. It's definitely going to be a big hit with gourmand and powder fragrance lovers. Lots of powder and ambroxan shortly followed by sweet amber and suede. I can easily imagine this being very popular. The thing is I've smelt a few fragrances very similar to this, just perhaps not quite as sweet. It definitely needs the black pepper and incense to define it. Moderate silage and longevity.

This smells expensive, sophisticated and complex. And not in an old lady way. I mainly get vanilla + suede and they are blended to a beautiful, uplifting creamy perfection. Also getting some spices in the background (probably the mixture of amber, powder, flowers and pepper). Musk not noticeable. Very elegant and with moderate performance. Somehow wish it was stronger/punchier.

Naughty vanilla. You better love vanilla, you better love animal musk, and you better love powder. Cierge de Lune has all three in abundance. From the glass-shards and powdery aldehydes in the beginning, casting prismatic white light, to the funky musks that show up around the same time, CdL has a very large range of textures that puts the nose into overdrive - and also confuses me a bit, to be honest. As the glass shards tickle and gently scratch the nose, illuminated by a back drop of white light, a large, round, dense cloud of animalic musk immediately comes at you from the periphery while thick, woody, and earthy vanilla balloons. All of them are given hefty sprinklings of powdery aldehydes, coating them like freshly fallen snow. The glass shards and the aldehydes are the first to leave, which allows the vanilla and musk to carry the rest of the perfume through its life. The powdery aspect is still there in the form of a very soft and starchy ylang-ylang, giving its typical - but in this case slight - ripe banana note, and the musks have transformed into softer and whiter shades instead of beige animalics. The brand says CdL is meant to reflect the night-blooming cereus flower, but you won’t find much of the night here nor will you find any white florals. There is certainly hedione, but it doesn’t present as anything naturalistically white floral, instead adding a sort of “luminous white floral effect” nearing the end of the heart and initial skin scent, further detracting from this idea of a flower blooming in the night. It gives the vanilla and the musks some flirty frivolity; the vanilla and musks want to turn the lights out, but they are too aloof and fun, and the hedione adds to that. There is no darkness, only light - bright, naughty and seductive light, like the well lit boudoir of a street walker who loves vanilla and tantalizing your senses, and perhaps rarely cleans their domicile. If you can’t tell by the words I have written so far, let me be plain: I’m confused. CdL feels disjointed and incongruous, and it certainly doesn’t help that I can’t smell the inspiration or the creative brief anywhere in it. And yet, something about it is vaguely and magnetically attractive. It would’ve made a lot more sense if AdV said something along the lines of “you know the musky vanilla perfume genre that’s been around for ages? Well here’s another one, but we wanted to make it a bit weird, a bit fun, and a bit overtly flirty” and I would’ve easily bought into it. Hardly full bottle worthy for me, but memorably interesting and pleasant.

Beautiful but bland. Upscale enough that the powdery-vanilla-amber girlishness doesn't get too cute, and done with classy restraint. Absolutely gorgeous fluffy-mousse-cottonwool texture to it, yet it's so much more grown-up and sophisticated than many in its class. The difference between a 100% cashmere designer garment and a pink synthetic fuzzy sweater from Primark ... it's miles more wearable to me than most things in this sort of Nice Girl ballpark. But in fact it's *too* classy, *too* discreet - for on me this fades to vague, pleasant omnisweetness within a few hours. At the usual alarming Aedes price this would just not provide bang per buck, in my opinion. If I want to be powdery-sweet-cheeky then it's a roll around with cheapie L'Agent from Agent Provocateur for me - and the Agent's more interestingly spiced and inflected as well, even if it's also much much more vulgar and 'basic'. More elegant ladies than I might prefer the Cierge, but they'd still need pretty deep pockets not to feel a little short-changed. It's not really my territory, but I think there are probably many better-value smell-a-likes of this one around. Very glad to have tried it, though - it's truly more than pleasant. To me, nowhere near as intriguing as Aedes' genuinely bewitching Copal Azur or Palissandre d'Or though.

The core reads as vanilla, swaddled in plush musk. There’s a faint incense curl and a trace of leather; just enough to tint the edges darker, yet the overall impression is airy, fluffy, and powdery vanilla. It reminds me of Ruby Red; different note lists, same fabric.

In my assessment, Cierge de Lune is a solid fragrance, but it seems to lack a certain dimension. What's notably absent is the nocturnal essence, the darkness that the titular queen should illuminate. In this composition, her reign is clearly during the day. However, these perfumes still manage to distinguish themselves within the sea of vanilla-centric options from other brands. Yet, the question remains if they truly stand out enough to justify the price tag. Admittedly, their craftsmanship is impeccable, and they artfully navigate the realms of vanilla, wood, and incense notes. In my perspective, what's missing is that elusive edge. Nevertheless, I have reason to believe that a man wearing Cierge de Lune would undoubtedly pique the interest of the opposite sex. The only uncertainty is how long that intrigue will linger. My rating: Ok. (4/7)

Revisiting this again and it "ok" but this powdery vanilla profile is soooo freaking popular and everywhere I was kind of over it when I first reviewed this. Pretty, easy going not trying to hard to be sexy ylang sweet powdery vanilla. Just go with Hypnotic poison instead. Same vibe but more complex and cheaper.

Flat playdough vanilla. Cheap musk and ambroxan bomb. Boring and unnecessary in such an expensive line. You can get this scent profile for $30 and under.

This is too fresh and clean for me. It's perfectly nice, as in it doesn't smell bad, but it's not for me. Very plain.

The first 30 minutes I was wearing Cierge De Lune, I thought I was head over heels in love. But the longer I wore it, the more Cierge De Lune turned into a cheap suede handbag scent. Another reviewer commented that this was a beautiful but bland scent, and that pretty much sums up my experience. So my review is the outlier, I understand that others love Cierge De Lune. It is a smooth, linear ride, I get the appeal but it’s not something I want, and especially at the retail price. I can imagine recommending it to a person who doesn’t want to color outside the lines. Cierge De Lune does not come across as special or unique. I’ll probably be voted off the island for saying so.

I love the vanilla and creaminess in this, but on my skin the tobacco note sticks out like a sore thumb and it just isn't a good fit for me.

the suede and pepper notes are sharp and unpleasant to me, but i may be biased because those aren't my favorite notes in general

I used to wear Hypnotic Poison religiously so I know what I am talking about and although this does not smell the same it has the very same feeling and is in the same scent category just a little more underwhelming. Hypnotic Poison is very unique and addictive and although I don’t wear it anymore (I refise to wear designer) I still remember the beginning of my journey with it and for an unexperienced nose it can truly feel like heaven. This just doesn’t come close at all, although, it is more sophisticated and subdued, I have to admit. Just not unique or special at all.

If you like White Suede by Tom Ford then you will like this, although this is softer, more elegant and much more interesting. I wear both, and WS always seems a little too much like a baby wipe, Cierge De Lune is way more subtle in it's approach. There is a faint spice and smoky incense in here somewhere that take this vanilla powdery element to a more elevated level. While WS projects like a beast and screams its sweet powdery presence, Lune whispers around you just enough to be noticed. Expensive but worth it, this is mysterious multifaced gem.

The slow stretch of time across a lunar landscape, captured in a sleepy smoked amber glass.

Yum!!! After sniffing around in the Aedes de Venustas store, speed dating, I think I may have found "the one." A creamy, powdery, complex vanilla - a better version of A LAb on Fire - What we do in Paris Remains a Secret (all the warmth without that baby powder smell). This is on the one hand a sort of generic, wearable scent, but as you get close and smell the layers you can appreciate the complexities. My favorite in the Aedes de Venustas line and a lovely scent for those who like warm, sexy, comfort fragrance.

It's quite the vanilla ylang-ylang tobacco mix with cosmetic powder haze and slight amber and some cinnamon. It's the delicious kind of blend with that slightly milky vanilla. It's not that bad though. @ilsagold it's not similar to vanille as this one is delicious vanilla ylang-ylang blend while vanille is the delicate soft blend.

This is a sure scent that smells powdery. Its a beautiful creation and in my mind is a slightly more complex version of Penhaligon's Artemesia. Lovely scent
