Amber Musk

Sooo good. Not powdery to me but more like clean soapy skin, maybe from the lily-of-the-valley and magnolia listed on Aerin’s site, moisturized with a coconut body butter and musk oil. Sandalwood adds a creaminess too, that works well with the cream from the coconut. Praline sweetens. Soft in texture, but there when snuggled close. Sometimes it presents intimately and other times there’s a projection that still is modest. Lasts for only 4-6 hours on skin depending on the day. Longer on clothes and I don’t mind this being on clothes. Although, this evaporates eventually from clothes. You'll never smell this on anything before doing laundry. Definitely a grab-and-go for errands, appts, groceries, etc and more of a signature for lounging in the house alone, with friends, family or your partner. It’s something I want to be recognized for in those settings and not really for intentional outings. Smells like I just oiled my skin or like the dry-down base of most fragrances. Alongside being a softer Mon Guerlain, Amber musk is pretty much a more affordable but still not that affordable version of FDB Santal Complet, which I will not buy again because the price is really due to the beautiful bottle. It was one of the best summer and year-round beauties. They both last moderately on me with very soft textures, blurred and rounded edges, so the performance may seem weak. Both linear, with an oiliness contributing to the texture. Like scooping some balm and melting it into your skin for a sheen. Although they have different florals, Amber musk definitely shares a close vibe with Santal Complet and both are perfect all year. Summer is the trickiest season for me with sweeter scents...unless there’s coconut. Now I can save on $345 and purchase Amber musk at 101 mL, one milliliter more, under 200 with a sale. I got this during the Nordstrom 30 percent annual sale. I don’t think I will ever get this at full price. Update: I bought my replacement bottle and returned it. Got the lotion instead because I think this scent makes the most sense in that form/texture and cost-wise, after the recent price hike to $210.

I have been looking for something to replace my beloved Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline EDP and someone on Reddit suggested this to me. While it’s not the same, it does possess the musky benzoin quality I love about that scent. And you have to appreciate that combo to appreciate this one. It is so warm, comforting, and sensual. I have a love/hate relationship with amber, so the fact that amber is actually in the name of this perfume really scared me, but this is an airy, soft, and cozy amber. It’s not a harsh burnt one, and that’s how amber gets on my skin sometimes. I’ll admit that this is pricey for a scent that could have better longevity and sillage, but it can be worn year round, there is really nothing that smells like it on the market, and the travel size is widely available. I honestly do not understand the comparisons to Wild Musk, which I only tried because it’s in the “smells like” section. Wild Musk smells like only musk to me, with maybe a little baby powder, not the same at all. I understand the comparisons to Burberry Brit and Amor Amor even less. BB is very citrus-forward and AA is black currant and vanilla on my skin. Not a fan of either one and I realize that everyone’s nose and skin chemistry is different, but I don’t think I’ve ever been more lost on the “smells like” section than I am with this perfume.

Whilst I understand where some of the negative reviews are coming from regarding price for a skin-scent, for me, the cozy deliciousness of this fragrance, coupled with the fact it shares similarities with a long-lost fragrance I really enjoyed, makes this a winner in my book. Amber Musk definitely smells like an offering from Cacharel, but I think it's reminiscent of the discontinued Gloria, which now costs the earth should you want a bottle. Gloria, with its amber-croissant-vanilla-custard-cherry accords (especially prominent in the body oil) was a super gourmand from before fragrances became syrupy-sweet, and this smells almost exactly like it. It is diffuse and light, but hangs around close to the skin in a wonderful hug. I also agree that it's similar to the fantastic original Chanel Egoiste, which had a buttery amber and pluminess, and you could also place it beside Lalique le parfum as a smellalike. However, because Amber Musk is so gentle and pretty, with a touch of baby powder, I find myself preferring it now I have a baby and a more sensitive nose. No, this isn't a show-stopper, but nor is it trying to be. Personally I love it, as in an industry saturated with high potency gourmand fruitchoulis, sometimes you may want something that is still tasty but more demure.

I've been testing this from a discovery set the last couple of days. The scent is gorgeous!! So simple and warm, easy to love from the first moment, perfect for a self-care moment or any day, any time. I would love to bathe in this! But.... either I am immediately anosmic to it after 10 minutes OR, as many reviewers below said, there is zero longevity. Anosmia is a possibility because I can't smell Narciso for Her. But, I used about 10 sprays this morning, on top of yesterday's 20-25 (or more) sprays throughout the day... and my husband could only smell it from one foot away (I had to ask him) and he said it smells really good, but is "very, VERY faint". I've burned through the entire discovery sample in a short time with only the most fleeting moments of enjoyment while it's still wet on my skin. Once it dries, it's pretty much gone. If they were to re-introduce Aerin Amber Musk with more oomph I would be first in line, I adore it that much! Lauder people, if you're reading this, please don't give up on this gorgeous fragrance! It would make a lovely suite of body products, to use as a signature scent or to create a lovely base skin scent.

Amber Musk is the perfect signature scent for somebody who doesn't like floral or fresh scents. If you're more into warm and cozy fragrances, this is for you. Amber Musk is the perfect warm, cozy, fuzzy fragrance for everyday since it's all of those things without being heavy or dark. It almost has an airy quality to it, very light and easy to wear. If you've ever used Amika hair products you already know this scent, because Amber Musk smells almost identical to those, it's 95% the same scent. I've reached for this more than any other fragrance in my collection since I bought it 3 months ago. I use Amika hair products and I always crave this after a shower. The longevity is not great, I get 3-4 hours before it's a skin scent, but it lasts on clothes until you wash them. Moderate projection. I feel like you need to overspray this one, so it's quite expensive for what you get. Scent alone is a 10/10, but I'll give it a 9/10 since it doesn't last very long on the skin.

I was gifted a VERY generous sample of this in a recent swap with the lovely, sweet and generous YesVeruca. I decided to try really hard to be patient and not just base my love / like / dislike on first notes as I sometimes have a tendency to do... So, I loved it from first spray, okay? I then let it sit on both a biz card, and a small hanky in my bathroom for an entire 24hrs. OMGGGG, this is the ISH! I mean, it's expensive, but for a quality fragrance like this, it's so worth it! I've worn it twice - spraying oh-so sparingly - it lasts and I just love it. Men, not BOYS, AND women, were all over me on my Birthday last weekend while I was out. It's different than the musk in say, Narciso Rodriguez or in the traditional scent, hard to describe but it's just very clean, feminine and pretty. I feel so kissable in it! I'm saving for a BIG bottle! EDIT: Lasts on clothes but not on skin, which is a bummer.

I've never owned or smelled an Aerin fragrance and going by the name alone, this is not one I would have normally been attracted to. But my friend gave me a huge bag of perfume samples, this being one of them, and this was an instant love at first sniff. I'm not, or didn't think I was a fan of amber or musk, but this one smells so soft and pretty. Compared to some other amber fragrances, this one is softer and not as overwhelming, so perhaps for people like myself who aren't a big fan of strong amber notes, this one might be a good one to ease into. The first day I wore this perfume, I was wearing a super soft and pale nude/light tan sweater, and if perfumes could have a corresponding color and texture, it would be that. The scent is so warm, softly sensual and romantic and just so beautiful. I feel so feminine when I'm wearing this.

I absolutely love this fragrance! It's definitely one of those that I could spray all day (if it weren't so expensive). On the initial spray I get a very fresh sweet rose scent, that quickly transforms into a milky coconut/vanilla/musk scent that I can't get enough of. The projection quickly fades from room filling to almost non-existent. Which is heartbreaking since the smell is so pleasant. My husband loves this on me and several of my co-workers, male and female have all commented on how nice it smells after I've sprayed it. Very wearable at the office, as it isn't an offensive scent and isn't strong. I'll be waiting on them to reformulate this so it lasts longer. When they do, I'll buy a full size bottle. But until they fix the longevity and sillage I'll just buy the little sample sprayers when I have a scent craving.

In my wardrobe of bold, dark perfumes, Aerin's Amber & Musk is important in terms of curating a well-rounded collection. It is not the most unique or striking, but it is lovely and inoffensive. It is easy to layer, if that's your thing. The composition is uncomplicated: it smells just like light amber and white musk. No coconut is detectable to my nose. The rose, benzoin, and lily of the valley are minimally present at best. It doesn't evolve much in the drydown. Overall, I like it and think it is pleasant. It is probably the lightest fragrance in my collection; I appreciate it a lot for filling that niche so well. However, it is definitely overpriced for how 'basic' it is. Longevity is moderate; sillage is intimate-moderate. Overall experience: 7/10 (definitely like, definitely not a love).

I fell in love with this one the first time I smelled it in the store. Scent wise it is perfection to me. It truly is like a thin beige cashmere sweater - cozy and calming yet light to wear. Amber musk has a certain airiness to it that stops it from ever being cloying or overwhelming. Perfect for a cozy night at home, but just as perfect as an inoffensive office fragrance. Sometimes even the thought of some of my more “dense” perfumes can make me feel nauseous- but those days I can still wear Amber musk without any problem at all. Do I wish it lasted a bit longer or maybe projected a bit more - sure, but performance isn’t THAT bad, and in some settings, such as at the office, the moderate projection is actually a plus. I’m really glad I have Amber musk in my collection.

I love this perfume. As some people's reviews suggest, there's nothing in this smell that will take you to mars, and even I would say it's probably quite a forgettable perfume. However, I think this is why I love it and why it has become an almost-everyday perfume for me. I get comments on this perfume a lot, but I don't think anyone would rush out to buy it - so it smells just like me. It's got the sweet maturity of amber, which is brought back down to earth by the musk. There's a slightly floral edge to this smell on me, but it is a very linear perfume overall. In my opinion, you could wear this any time of year; in the winter, the amber really takes charge, but in the summer I get much more of the floral, musky notes.

I didn't think I would like amber or musk. But this one, I really like it. I think it has a soft, lovely, pleasant scent. Kinda makes me feel cozy wearing it. Update: 05/29/2023. The more I wear, the more I like. I am upgrading to love. I normally hate coconut note, but in this I don’t detect at all. It is so soft and magnificently well-blended. 🥰 Update: 04/04/2024. This is a gorgeous scent. In terms of longevity, I find it pretty good. I sprayed a few times on my undershirt before going to work. I kept getting wafts of the beautiful aroma until evening when I got home and changed clothes. I don’t spray perfume directly on my skin; maybe that’s why I have never really had any issues with longevity.

Amber Musk smells like a woman who doesn’t need to announce herself. She’s soft-spoken, calm, clean, poised, and quietly luxurious. The kind of person who walks into a room and somehow everyone feels her presence without her even trying. Every single time I wear this perfume, somebody turns around to ask what I’m wearing. It’s subtle, but captivating. Rich without being loud. Warm, elegant, serious, but with so much depth to it. The scent draws you in first, and the longer it sits on you, the better it gets. If this perfume were a person, she’d be the woman who has money but never talks about it. Humble, composed, fascinating without trying to be. Truly one of the most beautiful scents I’ve worn.

I second babysoft79’s review below. This is the perfectly light amount of amber and musk for me - I’m overwhelmed by these notes when they’re too strong. If you love fresh skin type scents, I think this will be a safe buy (as long as you’re not expecting big sillage or longevity). Estee Lauder describe this as a scent for winter, but I honestly think it could be worn all year round as it’s so light and fresh. I’m currently wearing this in warmer spring weather and it’s a great change up from my usual warm weather citrus/floral freshies. On warm skin, I can pick up the soft coconut note. I do think it is overpriced, but I appreciate that there’s the option to buy a smaller travel size.

I bought this as a blind buy. When I tried it I thought to myself "Hmmm, I like this!" I get the musk and lily of the valley. No coconut and rose. So, I was happy. For about 2 hours. My skin must just eat perfumes because they disappears quickly on me. I faithfully reapplied all day long. But, having to do that will ring up utilization and cost. Aerin Lauder must really like her fragrances because they have a price tag that's higher than I think it's worth. I'm not willing to spend a lot of money and burn through a bottle because I have to continually reapply it. If I could put another "way" in the evaluation of price I would. Way, way overpriced.

This is a very clean musk. It’s subtle but slightly sensual. However it’s a skin scent so it doesn’t project. This went from a like to a love. I finished my travel spray in about 2 weeks. Now I can’t stop thinking about it. I definitely will be purchasing a full bottle. This scent is so comforting. It’s cozy & warm, but also gentle and alluring. I think it’s perfect for any season. Sadly it has no lasting power or sillage so I don’t reach for it often. One year update: after macerating I will say that this scent now has longevity and a slight projection. I will be purchasing again once my bottle is done.

So warm and cozy. But it’s not heavy. It’s lightly sweet and airy . So airy I think I can wear it even in the summer in FL, will have to test. It’s a cozy, ambery musk that feels buttery, just so warming . Even my baby loves the scent , tells me that I smell yummy 😂 and snuggles up to me. My husband always compliments me all the time when I wear it and he hardly says anything about my other niche fragrances . It’s really beautiful! However after 3 hrs I can’t smell it anymore , but when I sleep with it at night I still catch whiffs of it in the morning .

I never wrote a review, but this has been my signature since February this year. This is the classy and elevated cachemire scent. I wore VS Pink Warm and Cozy in middle school, and now in law school this is what I have worn. Only issue is increasing pricing with this 2hour longevity. This is the perfect scent but the longevity makes me question if I should re buy this. 146 euro for 50ml is quite a lot considering the projection and longevity. So my 50ml bottle lasted me around 8 months. I sprayed very heavy, around 5-20 spritzes.

I don't remember the last time I thought, oh, what a nice scent, and I have over 500 perfumes. I tried it for the first time in a perfumery, it left a good impression and I didn't forget it, I was waiting for a moment to buy it on a good offer, today I got it with Estee Lauder deal, amazing. Warm, gentle, not at all aggressive, but exciting, it makes it clear that he is wrapped in your aura. If I had bought it for fragrant notes, I would hardly have ever chosen it, but the right perfume always finds its way to us.

My signature fragrance. Chefs kiss 10/10. I was a Victoria’s Secret Warm and Cozy girl in middle school and I feel like this fragrance is her all grown up. It’s classy, sweet but not overpowering. Perfect for my musky Amber girls out there such as myself. For the girls who smelled Lake and Skye’s 11 11 and thought it needed just a touch more sweetness. I’ve never smelled anything like it and I WILL be buying bottles and bottles more. She is beauty she is grace 🌷

It’s a go-to cozy sweater in perfume form. It's that warm, comforting scent for any day, really. With amber for that deep, rich warmth and a touch of coconuty musc for a bit of elegance, it's subtle enough not to take over the room. Plus, it's versatile enough to work whether you're at the office or out for a casual dinner. Pretty much the perfect everyday scent that feels personal and cozy. I am glad that I rediscovered it again from my enormous collection.

This is soft and beautiful. Exactly what I want a musk to be. No “pickle” smell like some musks. Reminds me of a beige cozy cashmere sweater and reading a book while it snows outside. No sharp notes , only fluffy goodness. Longevity not the best on skin but ok on clothes. Warm and comforting. If I was rich, I would wear this to bed too. This is what you would want a musk to be Edit: it’s my daily wear now that fall is here.

Loved the scent so much, love the combination of notes as I'm a huge benzoin and rose fan, however it was returned as it did not last at all! I would also spray heaps and it sat so close to the skin. Well, my skin anyway as it tends to eat up a lot of soft creamy fragrances (oh why can't I wear you, Prada Candy?!) If it works on your skin however, I'd pay the big bucks for it. It really does smell lovely.

Beautiful fluffy and amber-y musk. The coconut and sandalwood in this are blended perfectly. I love, love, love this so much and it has become my every night bedtime scent. But unfortunately, and very sadly, that's all I can do with this fragrance as the performance is *abysmal.* Why oh why can't they make scents like these last longer and project at least arm's length? Especially at this price.

One of my top favorite fragrances ever. Its sweeter than I typically go for, but its an addictive cozy musk sweetness. There’s a light dewy rose scent tied together with a relaxing coconut/sandalwood note. Its not beachy or outdoorsy, just warm and sophisticated. Very little projection, but it sits beautifully on the skin and will linger a bit on my clothes. It is extremely long lasting.

I love this! It started off a little sharp, but once that settled down a bit it turned into the most comforting, snuggly, warm and beautiful scent! Perfect for fall weather. It lasted a good 5 hours, and it had light sillage. I couldn't stop sniffing my wrist. I don't know if I think it should cost as much as it does, but I really want to get it!

To my nose this smells like a mix between Navitus siesta drive and Xerjoff lira, but I guess you could put it into the same category as D&G devotion as well. Definitely more musky and marshmallowy, with a fluffy cloud like texture and the coconut water is super good in here. Actually a fire perfume love it

I love this! What a beautiful, simple Amber scent. For some reason, out of the bottle, the scent evokes memories of the 80's.On my skin it's transformed. It warms up and sweetens on my skin to be so pleasing! I could wear this regularly I think. I would love to try the body cream also.

A very beautiful cozy and intimate scent I really love it feels like a warm hug, it is a very comforting scent and is very well blended and smooth I really love it as it carries beautiful memories I will always have it in my rotation as it’s a safe reach and crowd pleasing.

Sweet, musky, cozy amber. I’m usually not a huge fan of amber-y scents but this is a balanced fragrance and not overly “amber.” I sprayed a tester at a Cosmetics Company Store and it was instant ‘love.’ Very snuggly. A good casual day fragrance for cooler weather.

To me this smells like what I imagine cashmere should smell like. Cashmere and slippers and sitting under a blanket on a cold day reading a book with a cream cashmere sweater and messy hair. To my nose it's classy, clean, and a bit sweet. It's a warm hug

Now I know why I love this so much, my favourite scent of all time Tom Ford Soleil Neige EDP.... that's what this smells like just without the bitter smell to it. The smell is better than Soleil neige but the performance isn't as good

Love this one! It smells like Amika hair products. I picture growing on a cashmere sweater and snuggling near a fireplace on a rainy day. It smells clean, warm, and soft. One of those your skin but better. Doll skin.

It reminds me so much of the discontinued 'Couture!' by Moschino! I was really happy to find this perfume. Its sillage is not very strong, but overall, I get the same pleasant feeling as I did from Moschino!

It was not love at first sniff. But the more i use it, the more i felt comfortable, cozy & clean. It has airy & soft skinscent that makes u wanna bite your own skin... is that because of type of musk?

In the Aerin discovery set, Amber Musk is the standout for me. Nuanced, soft, and romantic. I love (love love) feminine musk fragrances, and I'm excited to add this one to my collection.

I love this scent. It's musky but fresh and not overpowering. Also, if you loved Revlon's Ciara Femme Fatale from the 90s, you will love Amber Musk. It's a similar scent and vibe.

I’m getting a lot more floral in here than most of the reviews are saying—definitely lily of the valley and rose. I’m a floral girly so I really like that but it was unexpected.

I love the scent! It's warm and cozy. The performance is weak though, it sits very close to the skin after a couple. But I honestly don't mind because I really enjoy the scent.

My signature perfume. It’s so cozy, my skin but better. Just wish the longevity was better (about an hour or 2 at most). Arm length sillage, I get a lot of compliments.

Smooth creme brulee perfume. This one is a light and extremely pleasant and relaxing perfume. Not too sweet. Can be worn to office also. Good for autumn and winter.

I want to smell like this all day long, but unfortunately it doesn't last. I wish they'd make it stronger!!!

I really love this scent but zero sillage and poor longevity 1 hour or lass... a shame for the price tag. 🤨

Beautiful soft cosy skin scent

I received a free sample of this with an EL make-up order. At first, I was about to give it a glowing review, as I really liked it for the first few minutes. But then, I realised that it was simply too one dimensional. On the plus side, the ingredients smelled OK and not overly artificial. Which, quite frankly, appears to be something of a rarity, these days. However, there just wasn't any structure, or journey, or any real depth to it. I was just sitting there wishing it would produce something (almost anything) else... Some fruit (peach, maybe?), or some other white flower, or something. It didn't even feel refreshingly simple and beautiful. It just felt far more like they had forgotten to add some of the ingredients. It's perfectly nice, as far as it goes; but, nice doesn't really cut it and it doesn't go nearly far enough. It's like talking to a good looking, charming person, who you suddenly realise has very little discernable personality, or warmth. You hope it's just that s/he's a little shy and some new facet will, eventually, emerge; but, no. Even years later they are the same. For sheer surface prettiness, it's still maybe worth a 6.5/10. However, I wouldn't bother paying for anything less than an 8, personally.

I previously reviewed this perfume. I had the same issue most of you have experienced with Aerin Lauder fragrances - zero longevity and even less projection, even though I liked the scent. I finished it, with no intention of repurchasing, but fate intervened and through a double delivery snafu, I ended up with 2 new rollerballs of AM. One was repurposed as a Christmas gift, but I decided to keep the other one rather than have them screw up my order for a third time. I don't know if this was recently reformulated, but it was weaker than I remembered, and lacked any type of depth whatsoever. I tried to think about what I could layer it with in order to get some use out of it. It was a no brainer. I have a tube of Laura Mercier's Ambre Vanillé body cream and the shower gel. I tried it and it added some warmth and depth and amped up the longevity and provided some soft sillage. Was the combo groundbreaking? Not at all. Did it make the perfume cozier and more comforting to wear? Absolutely. So now, this is what I will reach for when I want to feel snuggly in my fuzzy socks and flannel jammies. Problem solved! ;)

What a nice perfume, for nice people! This is very snuggly, polite...and dare I say, even mom-ish (I'm a mom, I mean that in the best way). This is the ultimate type of cuddle fragrance. It's fuzzy, warm, and very *light brown* smelling. I don't get any coconut, but it's soft. Sometimes coconut smells like fig, and this reminds me of Bath and Body Works' "Brown Sugar and Fig"...so there's that. It stays very linear and uncomplicated, and feels like a thin sweater. It's synthetic smelling, but without feeling cheap (I'm not sure how to describe that). If it is benzoin in here, it's a very clean type. Or...maybe that's just my nose picking up in the lily-of-the-valley? At any rate, there's a soft, laundry-ish note in the background. So yes, a thin, but soft, clean sweater, fresh out of the dryer 🧥🧺 I wish it had a bit more muscle, but this would be perfect for someone who works in an office or around kids (sometimes people want something this light, I'm personally more in the market for some projection). If it performed more, I would truly love this.

This is a warm scent. This perfume smells like waking up in a cocoon of blankets in winter and looking out the window to freshly falling snow. It's the scent of your skin in your warm blanket at that moment, sweet and musky and close to you. I think the sweetness of the amber in this perfume should not be understated, but that might be because I'm someone who doesn't typically like sweet scents or gourmands so notes like that stand out to me. This is somewhat floral (not directly rose or lily-like, just a general floral) and I do get the coconut as well, but the sweet vanilla-amber note along with the musk are the strongest in the accord overall. This sits close to the skin, but I can smell it whenever I move my arms and I found it to last around 5 hours on my moisturized skin after my shower. I don't mind a softer scent so it's not a bad thing for me. I think this could be unisex, kind of like how MFK's Grand Soir is unisex because of that sweet amber note. So far I like this, but think it's a little too sweet for me to buy a full bottle.
