Iris Meadow

I just got a miniature bottle of Iris Meadow from eBay. It was the way to go, because the full size bottles are way too expensive for me. I sprayed this on a card at Nordstrom one day, and I couldn't get it out of my mind. I kept it on my dresser, in my bedroom, and it kept giving this sweet and subtle aroma as I walked by. Anyway, when I first spray it, I keep thinking I'm smelling anise, but that's not what it is. That part dissipates pretty quickly, and then I believe I'm smelling the iris, and the jasmine. For a split second, I swear I can smell a hint of Chanel #19 edt, which is one of my all time favorites. Maybe it's the iris that's connecting the two of them. Sadly, the lasting power is not the greatest, but that's alright. This is a perfect fragrance for warmer weather, because it's not overwhelming at all. It gets extra points for something else as well. For some strange reason, when it dries down, I get hints of my favorite Bath and Body Works candle, Bowties and Bourbon. Strange but true.

I am pleasantly surprised by how much I am enjoying this fragrance, even though I usually prefer more complex scents. I'm wearing it today, it's over 30°c and humid and makes me feel persistently fresh. I don't find it synethic at all, but yes the green comes through strongly right through to the drydown. The floral sweetness is there but I don't find it overwhelming and I am very sensitive to sickly sweet scents. Waterlilly sun and gardenia rattan were stomach turning for me. I find it's sillage it quite strong for the first couple of hours. I feel like I have this little cocoon of freshness around me for 4-5 hrs before it really fades into a skin scent.

I am puzzled by some reviews, noting the wet cardboard scent. I don’t get that at all. I find this to be a very pleasant scent. Try layering with Lilac Path. It’s a good combo. Update 08/02/2023. It’s very nice in the summer as well. Iris and jasmine also work well; quite lovely. The more I wear it, the more I like it. Love. I think this is the best Iris perfume for my olfactory senses. 10/10. Too bad this is discontinued. Update 02/20/2024: I haven’t worn this for a while and sprayed this again today. It is absolutely beautiful. It somehow is both classic and modern at the same time.

I think that Iris Meadow is very fresh, clean and feminine. It is the kind of scent that other people would enjoy being next to. The wearer of the scent smells fresh and showered. Especially a great way to smell on a hot summer day! The only downsid,e as with all Aerin scents, is the lack of ĺongevity. Why are they made to be so short lived on my skin? I think Aerin doesn't like me. She doesn't want me to buy her perfumes. I would have purchased three scents by now, but I refuse to spend money on any more weak perfumes. Very sad about this,Aerin!

I love this line so much. This one has a very green, fresh opening that quickly develops into something heavenly and powdery. I do have to reapply fairly often however, which is unfortunate since these are so expensive. I still can't resist them though. More than any other fragrances I have they give me the feeling of actually being in a garden in spring. Not so much like I'm wearing perfume but more like I'm standing in a beautiful field of flowers, if I close my eyes, and it's hard not to smile.

It's exactly the Iris I was looking for—fresh, green... almost crispy! It settles into a powdery, cosmetic-like base. I'm glad I don't get the carrot note here, as can happen with other iris-centered compositions. A refined, delicate, feminine fragrance—perfect for everyday wear! I think it could easily belong to the Old Money fragrance category.

I got a sample of Iris Meadow by accident, and I wouldn't have picked it out for myself: with its accord of cedar, musk and iris, this seems like exactly the kind of scent I rarely dislike, but even more rarely feel any real enthusiasm about. Just a matter of taste, and this genre isn't really mine. And right enough, that's the case for this one as well...except that there's a very nice aquatic/green note in there that's a bit of a saving grace as far as I'm concerned: it brings it a lot closer to being true to its name. As others have mentioned this meadow isn't especially natural-smelling with all that musk and cedar in the background and with the botanical notes being slightly synthetic...and there aren't very many irises there either. But the ones that are, combined with that lovely green dewy accord, make that olfactory meadow a nice place to dwell in anyway, especially in spring. I don't need more of this now that my sample is gone, but I'm glad I got to test it after all!

Aerin Lauder's fragrances are two things - over-priced and under-rated. Iris Meadow is no exception. It follows Aerin's standard approach to fragrance making, which is to create pretty and uncomplicated fragrances designed to spray and go. It's no coincidence that most of her fragrances are also offered in travel size. The longevity is almost universally poor, though Iris Meadow seems to linger a bit longer as a skin scent, unlike Ikat Jasmine for example. Iris meadow smells fresh and green upon application. Soon after, it is joined by a slightly powdery iris, which is further amplified by clean white musk. That's about it for me, perhaps a touch of cedar. It's a linear fragrance - what you spray is what you get. Is it an iris masterpiece? Not even close. But is a perfectly acceptable fragrance for lovers of iris and green florals that can be worn to the office without offending anyone? Absolutely, and in that sense, I believe it accomplishes what it set out to achieve.

I bought this "almost" blindly while in Thailand. I fell in love with the inaugural whiff. Then, as it dried down, I came across same as @ckorp8 said. One weird ingredient wasn't sitting well with my nose, I don't know if it was white florals? Because it smells like dead sour or like he said, wet cardboard, I don't know, I hated the dry down for quite some time (around 3 years), coming back to the perfume nowadays, and that one note that used to bother me and stand out, doesn't anymore. I enjoy the freshness of this perfume immensely. Green fresh opening that lasts althroughout. Sillage: intimate to moderate Projection: less than an arms length. Longevity: about 2-3 hours tops on my skin I would def love to explore the rest of the collection. Don't blind buy this, and spray it on your own skin, don't rely on the tested paper.

Mesmerizing floral. A bit chypre, but not burning. One of Aerin's longer lasting scents. So disappointing that her line of fragrances, mostly, have poor longevity. This is one that has it and is truly unique. Very good in high humidity and hot swampy summer stagnation. Does not do well in dry, bitter winter, which is when I first tested this fragrance. Perfect for summer though. So glad I revisited this unique scent in summer and purchased a bottle. As stated before, it does indeed spritz well with Lilac Path.

I love iris perfumes and when I finally got my hands on this I was so excited. But it was.. fine. What I like about it is the jasmine that balances the iris out and prevents it from smelling too vintage. So that a big plus. It's dewy, very fresh and unfortunately very faint. I've heard people complaining about the longevity and performance of the aerin perfumes and at least this one proves it. For that pricepoint I expect it to last much longer than three hours on my skin.

I like this perfume and think it is nice for a springtime fragrance the iris and green notes make it a lovely choice for spring. First spray was so fresh and light then it mingles on my skin to a nice meadow scent. as it lingers on my skin I get more of a powdery smell with the green notes in the background. I wish it last longer since hang time was about 4 hours with the sillage losing strength as time wore on. I would buy it if the longevity was better.

Clean gentle lovely scent. I smell floral but also a hint of citrus. This would be great to wear on a bright sunny day in a new sundress.

Nice but for the cost $80 1 oz. It really needs more longevity. It reminds me of Chanel #19 I'd rather buy that next time.

A very clean, green floral scent. It seems to me to be a nice fragrance for spring. It lasts about 5 hours.

I just tried this on and can’t seem to stand the smell of a certain note in it. It’s the same strong smell in Gucci Tears of Iris. I’m seriously thinking may be it’s the iris note that I don’t like. Can any one help confirm that please? It smells to me like a wet cardboard.

A very old-school, powdery scent. It reminds me very strongly of a perfume my grandma wore in the 90s. For me, it ends up coming across as musty and damp. It is a little sweet and melancholy, full of grief. I loved my grandma but I don't want to smell like she did decades ago. I saw someone saying that the jasmine keeps it from being too vintage-smelling, but I disagree. I was immediately transported back in time--not modern at all.

Everything positive about this perfume - oh, iris! - made me buy it. It is clean, warm, powdery, and greenly pretty st first. But then...My fault for testing in a Department store and not waiting long enough to detect either what my husband said was a faint petrol smell, or the TOTAL DISAPPEARANCE of the scent on my skin within 1 hour of spraying. If I had not bought through a reputable department store, I would be clamouring for my money back. Surely such a pricey perfume would have greater longevity? Though it’s not the Estée Lauder Range, House of Lauder use its cachet for this live too, and Lauder is famed for sillage . Iris Meadow is nice of course, a whiff of a meadow through a car window along a highway. Its Clean warmth reminds me of the Santa Maria Novella colognes, but even those colognes seemed to last longer. In despair, I have reached for the only other iris I have: Chanel no19 edp. Once I hack my way through the oily green, the lovely iris is there...AND it’s a stayer AND it’s not quite so expensive. I am so disappointed at the loss of money, but more at the loss of an experience.

Ok,I am asking myself why I have not purchased this yet? This is one I have avoided as of late, but no longer. Iris Meadow is so beautiful...like a walk in a fairy iris tale in the early morning down a path where trees line each side, oh and the trees are dusted with snow! And PURPLE irises THRIVE...yes! this is sooo purple! A beautiful twilight purple evening and they are blowing in a soft breeze, but the weather changes quickly and you find yourself in the middle of a snowshower... softly falling flakes sparkling with the sun shining through the clouds on purple irises just opened fresh and dewy like a velvet cloud... But the dew freezes in the dropping temperatures and catch the morning sun like a crystal prism hanging in the window on a frosty Winter morning...yes I love this it is my next MUST buy... Oh and this is so very feminine...soft and silky like purple satin iris petals on your boudoir bouquet in a crystal vase...you dreaming your riding next to your sweetheart in a horse drawn carriage on a very special evening on the 14th...
