Rose Cocoa

This smells like a complex spicy rose partly because of cinnamon. But the spice note does not dominate; it gives a more winter, somewhat festive vibe. I think I will wear this during colder months, though I am curious how it will smell in the heat in the summer. The cocoa is there, but it is not prominent, making the rose the star of the perfume show. It is a sophisticated smell. It’s well blended and classy. Definitely lux. My partner liked it. The bottle is so pretty, to boot. Update: 1/20/2025 after testing several lackluster perfumes that smelled so synthetic and sweet, I decided to wear this late evening. The weather is freezing in the middle of the winter, and Rose Cocoa is sublime. The rose and Cocoa are so well blended. I do think this would really suit better during winter and night. The more I wear, the more I like.

Like most, if not all of Aerin's perfumes, this is gorgeous. The bottle with that brown velvet bow is absolutely stunning and the perfume is a very elegant, slightly spicy rose. I can smell a light note of bitter cocoa, but this is more of a classic, velvety rose with a very light dusting of cocoa. It is fresh but with some very light spiciness and very light muskiness, which makes it perfectly appropriate in colder weather as well. It has a super elegant, almost acquatic note to it, which adds to its delicate beauty. Longevity is not great, I am afraid, it only lasts 3 hours on my skin, so best to reapply as it is a pleasure to wear and smell. 🌹🍫❤️🤎

Stunning combination of a rose in bloom dipped in cocoa. I say cocoa because it is not as prominent of a smell like chocolate. There is more than a hint of cocoa. The rose becomes quite sparkly with a hint of orange after a bit. The dry down is even better...into a soft peony with a lingering cocoa. I would say the cocoa stays with the fragrance until the end. I have to agree very soft not abstract floral but yet so beautiful. This to me is a great example that sometimes simple is best... Great JOB with this one!!

Beautiful sofisticated scent. Rose and cocoa with s hint of orange. To me this lasts about 6 hours. Ive heard others complaining about the cocoa being missing, but that is not the case with me, it it stays with me the whole time. The combination of rose and cocoa is absolutely lovely, and nothing like anything ive smelled befofe. I think im gonna enjoy this perfume the most in fall and witnther months.

I was expecting rose and cocoa... but it’s not that at all... It’s actually a very sparkly rose, a clean rose with fizzy citrus, I can’t detect vanilla but peony is evident in the background- feminine and polished, easy to wear year round, great longevity and sillage . I actually love this hence I bought it, but be aware name is misleading, and that’s from someone whose skin amplifies cocoa!!

Sampled this at selfridges the cocoa is so delicious and the most realistic I have smelt in a perfume 😋 Unfortunately the performance is very weak, this faded so quick and the chooclatey faceste of the fragrance vanished before it could dry down which was quiet disappointing

I tired a small sample and I love it. It is powdery, feminine, subtle. I also love the bottle. Would like to know where I can buy it. If you do not care about yours I will gladly purchase from you. Bottle should be in a good shape.

the most beautiful rose i have ever smelled. its like fresh rose water, with something juicy and acidic, like the taste of green grapes. its all so well-blended. the cacao is strong, but is neither too bitter, nor too sugary.

I adore this fragrance but I cannot bring myself to pay the $275.00 for a bottle. It's been on my wish list from day one, so we will see. The performance is not good unfortunately.

I missed this when it first appeared at Nordstrom back in 2019'. Very annoyed it was not at Bergdorfs where Aerin is supposedly exclusive. Finally decided to order from Aerin website. On sale! Agree with other members that it is exceedingly overpriced at $275 US. The smokey brown, heavy glass bottle with dark bronze bow is very charming, but this is a scent that should be in the price range of her Amber Musk, Cedar Violet, Amber Musk Santal offerings. This layered beautifully with Amber Musk Santal! The coco was intensified, which on its own is a quick whiff before it transforms into a flat rose. Also layers beautifully with Cedar Violet. Lots of longevity with Cedar Violet. This is my 10th full bottle of Aerins' fragrance offerings! I adore her fragrances and wish she would stick to Fragrance and Beauty offerings instead of Chachki's. Her Grandmother is rolling in her grave!!! Also what is the deal with offering exquisite body creme's, for years, reliably luscious body creme, exquisite glass jars; Rose de Grasse, Eclat de Vert, Limon di Sicilia, and then discontinuing them? What kind of brand loyalty is this? I do not care about her backgammon boards, lamps that look like you can stick your arm through them, and chachki boxes, etc. Stick with your beaute, please!!!

Did you love Stella by Stella McCartney as a teenager? Were you upset when it got discontinued some time after 2017? Yea, me too. Luckily this scent can fill the void just enough. The sweet cocoa note doesn't detract much from it, but gives it a soft, fluffier vibe than the drier, slightly jammier Stella.

It smells nice on the skin. It's a beautiful chocolate rose. Definitely one of her best!

Rose Cocoa is far more than its name suggests, though whether that complexity is brilliance or chaos is another question. It begins in a haze—muddled, almost indecipherable—before the image sharpens to reveal a spiced, tart orange laced with the warmth of mulled spices, its brightness tempered by faceless pink florals that seem more like an impression than a presence. You also get this unexpectedly well-blended earthiness, a fleeting mushroom-like umami that feels almost edible yet never quite gourmand, adding a damp warmth just beneath the surface. In the heart of this fragrance arises booze, rich and velvety. Imagine a rose petal steeped in chocolate truffle stout, decadent yet slightly jarring. Thick and inky, this has the kind of bitterness that lingers at the back of your throat. The cocoa by comparison, is essentially an afterthought, swallowed by the weight of the booze. I can't deny it—Rose Cocoa is especially layered, shifting and evolving with each inhale. But it's almost as if the scent never quite coalesces, its notes forever circling but never fully landing. I mean, the cocoa in its name barely even manages to chip in. Ambitious, but honestly too unwieldy to be truly compelling.

Tried this on today. On my skin it opened up citrusy with a hint of cacao. The citrus notes persisted for long and overpowered everything else. I could get a whiff of a boozy Rose here and there but nothing else much.

Where is the cocoa in this? Smells like cooking rose water from your next door arab market

To preface, I definitely have an amateur nose. I can't pick up on any fine details, but I can definitely say that I do not smell any discernible cocoa in this fragrance! It just seems rosy to me, which makes this scent great if that's what you're looking for. I will say that it is sweeter than Rose de Grasse, which smells like a fresher, greener rose. I'm a little disappointed, as I sought this out for months before I finally found a seller listing it below retail value. I feel as though when I originally tested it this past winter, the cocoa WAS prominent- so hey, maybe I'll hold onto it and see if it reacts with my skin differently in cooler weather. Not very good projection either. A nice scent, but not worth the hefty price tag.

My previous review of this was a bit negative because it gave me migraine. Since then, my migraines are under better control and I tried this again today. I really love it, and I missed it so much when it was withdrawn for a few years. The cocoa is definitely there- quite sweet rather than bitter. Also it has the distinctive Aerin rose which I love. If has an almost candied rose at times- but never too overly sugary or gourmand. I am absolutely going to buy this whilst I can and dream of the cooler days to come. On me longevity is good and sillage is moderate but I never enjoy beast perfumes.

I tried this today as I am seeking out rose and cocoa fragrances. My absolute favourite so far is Santal Majescule which is a masterpiece of dry rich rose and cocoa- warm, spicy and woody. In comparison. This fragrance starts out with a lovely blast of cocoa rose and citrus, but the cocoa quickly disappears and all I can smell is a very sweet and overpowering boozy rose. It is a good rose but it is giving me a migraine and I am not going to be able to wait for the dry down. It does not compare in complexity or beauty to Santal Majescule, but then I don’t like overly sweet perfumes.

So far, so good... I got a sample of this fragrance and am wearing it today. It is gorgeous and I love it! It is more dense and full than the others I have tried in the Aerin collection. It is warm and gentle - I get vanilla, white musk with subtle cocoa and rose in the background. It is sweet and elegant. It’s a comforting scent. Seems to have a decent projection but not overbearing. Reminds me of DSH Vanille Botanique, which I love but that one doesn’t have lasting power.

I feel like this is the fragrance fetiche la rose (FLR) was trying to be, but failed miserably. If I was looking for a dark juicy rose and didn’t already have FLR I would have gotten this one. This is more elevated and sophisticated. Will add to my wish list for when I finish the other one.
