Rose de Grasse

I’ve tried and really liked with AL’s Evening Rose so it shouldn’t have been that surprising that I fell instantly in love with Rose de Grasse. Looking at the notes pyramid this seems like yet another amber-rose creation. Even though the formula itself is not groundbreaking, I'm quite shocked as to how unique this perfume is amongst its counterparts. To give you an example of my relevant taste range, I enjoy fragrances such as JM Red Roses, SL La Fille de Berlin, YR Rose Absolue, SM Stella (original formula), JHAG Miss Charming, TPW Tea Rose, Paul Smith Rose, Molinard Rose, Caron Delire de Rose, etc. Upon first spray, I was expecting the dreaded aquatic notes (don’t like them). But thankfully, they were nowhere to be found. Those who would like watery notes to accompany their roses may want to steer clear of this and proceed to lighter formulas such as Especially Escada, Yves Rocher Pur Desir de Rose or perhaps Issey Miyake L`Eau d`Issey Florale. Compared to a photorealistic rose like TPW Tea Rose, Rose de Grasse is much less green but compared to JM Red Roses, it’s much less linear because it’s a much more multifaceted creation. Initially, there’s an intensive, delicious musk. Then, in all but 5 minutes, the roses are in full-bloom. These blossoms are voluptuous, vibrant, and expansive – and yet somehow evade being overwhelming or aggressive. I can almost taste these velvety red rose petals on my tongue! This is not a gourmand or sugary fragrance by any stretch of imagination but it is so skillfully done with such fine quality materials that my nose interprets this juice as completely edible. After about an hour I can smell faint amber & musk but these notes take a back seat and only serve to anchor this glorious flower to my skin. Another bonus: The projection & staying power are so outstanding that this fragrance walks at least a foot ahead of me and stayed on my skin for 12+ hours, passing the difficult “overnight test”. In conclusion, I see Rose de Grasse as a masterpiece, the absolute perfect rose. I recommend this to all rose-devotees, who owe it to themselves to test this beauty on their skin at least once. I’d also recommend it to those who, like me, lamented the discontinuation of the original Lancome Mille and Une Roses. This is a very decent and albeit less-ambery substitute for it.

Well, I do believe I have found the Queen Mother of realistic rose perfume. I agree completely with BelleofRivendel (beautiful review btw!). I am not a fan of aquatics so I am SO glad I did not let that scare me away. This is in no way, shape or form like an aquatic. Watery, yes, but not like the typical aquatic. It is a fresh and dewy - but somehow still velvety - rose centered masterpiece. This is all about the rose and nothing else. Not too sweet, not too green, or citrus, no peculiar distracting notes...smells so natural and beautiful and....PERFECT!! Rose de Grasse smells like a true rose. I have been searching and searching for that perfect straight forward rose fragrance that isn't cluttered by anything else, but without feeling dated in any way, and this is it. To me it smells like a fresh and dewy bouquet of pink, white and red roses plus a tiny bit of clean musk and nothing else. This is for authentic rose lovers. If you are looking for something to go with your rose this isn't it, this is ALL rose. Rose de Grasse is like Miss Charming's elegant sister with impeccable manners and an understated style. They are similar but where Miss Charming has a more casual and carefree feel, Rose de Grasse is sophisticated and refined. I love both fragrances but Rose de Grasse is like the world class version of Miss Charming. Rose de Grasse will be perfect for spring and summer but truly can be worn year round. Any age group. It doesn't have any limitations....or even any faults in my book. It even lasts forever. And the bottle could not have been a more perfect choice. I have been searching and searching for "the one" when it comes to a natural smelling realistic rose without much embellishment for those occasions when I crave just that....and this is it. Just out and out perfection! Aerin Lauder clearly had a nose for rose!

This is an absolutely gorgeous fragrance! My love of roses, and lack of a high end department store in my vicinity lead me to purchase this online without testing it first and I'm not disappointed one bit. It's quite similar to Stella edp by Stella McCartney but this is far more beautiful, rosey and intense. The sillage is also remarkable, one blast is enough to alert anyone within 6ft, but within an hour fades to a close radius. Not a skin scent, but something only discernible while in arms reach. Though this reminded me immediately and powerfully of Stella I find that a direct comparison leaves Stella in the dust. Stella is a watery sweet fruity rose thats only slightly too floral to be served to children in juice boxes. Or served as a gourmet fruit roll-up. Nice but quite unimpressive for a fragrance. Rose de Grasse on the other hand is a giant ROSE with a slightly fruity bent. It's lush and heady, elegant and feminine. Sweet without being sugary. Very romantic. This seems like an indoor rose. It's a huge bouquet of red roses, a plate of sweets and a glass of brandy on a priceless side table in a Downton Abbey drawing room. With fragrant fruitwood burning merrily in the fireplace. Neither aquatic nor green. Not a rose garden. Highly recommended

This is a really well done rose soliflore and probably one of my favorites out there. There's green to this rose, but it's not as fresh as Diptyque's Eau Rose EDT, it's more powdery and musky at first. The initial spray has a lot of ambrette to my nose, it's a very fruity musk and in this stage it reminds me of Nirvana White, but it doesn't stick around and it changes to more of a true rose perfume. I like how the rose notes in this don't go to a rubber or plastic territory and smell like rosewater. The heart and base notes of this perfume are a soft and pink rose, something that sits close to the skin like a creamy rose body lotion. However, I find that this does still project at least an arm's length because I get compliments on it often, especially from women! For longevity, I found it to last around 5 hours, but it did become lighter as the day wore on. I went through two samples before committing to a full-sized bottle in my (more) minimal perfume wardrobe which shows how enamored I became with this. I do think it's overpriced, but I've tested a lot of rose perfumes and I still like this one more than many of them so it's worth it to me and I'd rather pay for this one over Delina any day.

Rose de Grasse is a gorgeous, photorealistic fresh, lush rose, but with an absolutely tragic lack of lasting power. My dad is an avid gardener and I grew up spending spring and summer days reading and playing outside in his rose garden among the fresh blooms in the warm sun, and Rose de Grasse brings me back to those memories instantly. On initial spray, it's a burst of dewy, almost aquatic true pink rose without any fussy fruity, citrusy, or woody notes, and on the dry down it turns muskier, drier, and a little sweeter with almost dried rose petals lingering in the background. As it becomes a skin scent it gets more creamy and powdery, but in a sophisticated, luxe way, rather than leaning too mature. I truly love every second of this perfume on skin, and it was a strong contender for me for a wedding scent. Unfortunately, I just can't bring myself to justify purchasing this. From first spray to the dry down to total skin scent, it takes maaaaaybe 2 hours and then, poof! It's gone. For the price, it's just not worth it. Curious to try the d'Or version to see if the lasting power is any better because I do really, really love this scent. It's rose done right.

I love the dry down on this. There is zero musk smell for me. It’s watery, bright, soft rose, and feminine. No powder smell with this one. When you get just the faintest whiff comes of your skin ..it’s really pretty! This smells different on me on different days...some days I can’t wear because the beautiful notes just won’t come through, and on other days it does and I want to drink it off my skin. My adult kids love this on me, but my own mother does not like it! The husband is neutral. I loved it so much that I bought the cream and that was hugely disappointing, as it did not translate that scent well. (My bottle is from before Covid...so...I think it’s from year 2017-2018.)

My mom had a 1.7 oz of this in her collection. I smelled it & instantly fell in love. She said she never used it and that I could keep it. This smells like the most beautiful rose imaginable with a hint of its watery natural soil. To my horror I discovered this fragrance is over $200 and is difficult to even come by...once discovering that I'm too afraid to even use it. It opened my high interest to rose fragrances & have found cheaper alternatives: Chloe Roses, Stella McCartney & Paul Smith Rose. Even bath & body works "Love: Rose Vanilla" is extremely similar and a highly affordable option.

This is a pure, bright rose that is very true to the nature of rose scents. A lot of florals the rose can disappear of be hidden in loads of vanilla and oud etc - this rose stands by herself. It's pure, crisp and clean - it's lovely and in my oppinion the only proper way to commend the nature of a rose. However, this is expensive and I will say I've tried cheaper perfumes that also resembles a clean crisp rose, though it saddens me to say that the closest resemblence has been discontinued years ago. It was bulgarian rose from the body shop.

Well, praise be! Received my bottle from online shop yesterday, and after shower last evening sprayed lightly on pulse points. This heavenly frag surrounded me all night, and here it is 8 AM and still lingering. "I don't need another rose perfume" was my thought when I noticed Aerin had produced this--I have Evening Rose, which I adore. But the reviews here prompted me to drop $$$ blind! And I'm delighted. Christianne1's review says it all! Thank you again, Fragrantica, for helping me spend my hard earned money!!

Rose de Grasse by Aerin Lauder is a light aquatic rose with a pleasantly dusty ambrette musk and a warm woody-sweet undertone. This is relaxing by a natural spring, listing to the clear waters gently fall over the rocks with lush, pink roses planted all along the side. I can feel the softness of the rose petals when I smell Rose de Grasse. It is such a lovely, feminine rose scent! I wish is lasted longer, but I do think this is meant to be a light, subtle scent.

My god this is a beautiful rose! Upon first sprays the lovely rose is front and center. I personally get a bit of the watery notes, but not heavily. I love that though and find it adds a kind of enchantment to the entire scent. It is very long lasting and fresh - a definite must have for rose lovers. I'd yet to find anything as beautiful as Caron's Delire d Rose at least to me, but Rose de Grasse will be neck and neck with Delire as a favorite for me.

Sparkling, clean rose that feels easy to wear yet truly beautiful and special. While it does not last past a few hours, I find it is worth it because it makes me feel put together and chic. The projection is good, and those around you will be able to smell it, but it isn't a beast by any means. It is perfect for daily wear but also perfect for a special occasion because it smells expensive and pretty. Rose de Grass is a special one!

This is a beautiful fresh and warm rose fragrance. The lasting power is excellent and the projection is great. This is a niche quality fragrance that performs beyond expectation. If you are shy of rose sents because they usually smell mature then give Rose De Grasse a try. The musk makes it warm and modern, the amber rounds out the scent to be more than a rose. This perfume is the best in the line and worth the price.

A UNDERRATED, sophisticated, luxurious rose perfume. This is my no.1 rose perfume of all time, just smells expensive $$$$ (and it is). Compares to so many hyped up ones out there (e.g. La Fille de Berlin Serge Lutens, Byredo Rose of No Man's Land), this is the most beautiful and likeable. A little bit on the mature side, 25+ and can be used all year round. 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND <3

Wow, this is a gorgeous scent. If you love rose soliflores then I think this is a must-try. It does not smell aquatic to me but it is fresh. It does remind me of Stella EDP, but to me it seems like a better quality version. There’s something about the rose in this that smells very full and deep. I’m strongly considering getting a full bottle, it’s just so lovely.

Roses...I honestly never thought I could pull them off until now! Aerin Lauder is the IT Lady for refined, sophisticated and yes sexy. I feel dainty when I wear this beautiful perfume. When I know I'm going to wear it, I make sure that I dress to impress because this little treasure is the last piece of the puzzle. Absolutely gorgeous!

I was in search of the perfect, fresh, dewy rose soliflore WITHOUT that annoying lemon note in so many rose fragrances. Aerin's Rose de Grasse is luscious, light and a true rose. It's not too sweet. Unfortunately, the sillage is very light and the longevity on me in the summer is half an hour. Ridiculous for over $200.

Ok. This smells lovely on paper, my dream rose. When I spray in on my skin, it instantly turns into Chloe Roses (which I do like for $150 less). The salesperson at Nordstrom agreed. Fifteen minutes later, it’s completely gone on me. If it smelled the same on me as it does on the card and lasted, I’d buy it.

Beautiful scent...I love it but just wish it were a little stronger...I get the occasional whiff but my husband can't smell it at all on me...I could spray more but it was so expensive I don't want to use it up too quickly. Aerin's Gardenia Rattan and Waterlily Sun are also gorgeous.

This is truly my favorite rose scent of all time. It actually smells like roses and not at all like an old lady perfume. It lasts forever and it's strong enough that you know it's there, but it's not assaulting anyone.

Heavenly. The best perfume that I have ever smelled. 🤍 So pure, springlike, summery, bright, light as feathers, silky, beautiful, feminine, soft, smooth and sophisticated. 🥰

This scent lasts a long time, it's light but disperses well, it's as soft as a morning rose, but the scent isn't rose, it's mysterious and Smells delicious

Roses, it smells like roses and nothing else to me. REAL roses, not strong, not faint, just roses.

This perfume first opened up with some of the watery notes and the musky notes from the musk mallow and you could smell a very realistic rose smell too from the start. I could also smell the musk in the dry down too, but not the wood or the amber notes. There was something very powdery and feminine about this rose too. At first I thought that I wanted to buy it since it smelled so beautiful and realistic, with no spicy notes, citrusy notes, fruity notes or woody notes drowning out the naturalistic rose scent and keeping this perfume a true rose soliflore. Alas, it smelt just like wet and fresh living roses at first for the first hour and it dissipated then to a vaguely sweet and slightly floral musk. The slightly floral musk stage then lasted an hour itself and then I could smell... NOTHING! It's such a shame, since it is such an incredibly beautiful perfume for such a short period of time and I would have bought a full bottle of Rose de Grasse at the Aerin Lauder counter if the rose smell had at least lasted 3 hours on my skin. All of this would make this scent super office appropriate though, especially if you work in a hospital. The sillage is intimate too. I guess I'm back to the drawing board of finding a true rose soliflore scent. 7/10 for me.

And while Rose de Grasse is primarily a soliflore, this is a very beautiful perfume. As others have reviewed on various websites, Aerin Rose de Grasse is very unique when compared to other rose scented perfumes. Opening notes are very appealing with fresh green, slightly watery (but not aquatic, not salty) and light ethereal rose notes. The opening is quite linear with lots of green, fresh rose. Shortly after application, a full rose note is dominant. Not your usual synthetic, harsh, overpowering or shrill rose note equated with most rose fragrances, the mid-note of Rose de Grasse is mature, smooth, velvety and kind. The dry down finishes with a dominant rose note that only slightly recedes to reveal musk and very faint amber (thankfully). Silage is great and longevity is superb, too. Rose de Grasse is a lovely fragrance, particularly for those who love rose scents. Definitely worth a try!

I’ve found several rose fragrances I’ve tried - including some popular ones like the Delinas - to be surprisingly much more vintage/mature than I expected. I wanted a fresh, dewy, modern rose. I think I’ve found that in Rose de Grasse. It’s what I wanted Delina La Rosée to be! In the opening I get something sexy and musky, which must be the ambrette, balanced by the watery notes. Then I get a gorgeous fresh dewy rose, pink with a bit of green. The base lends a bit of warmth to the fragrance. It’s really a versatile choice - fresh but sexy, modern but ageless, a solid spring/summer fragrance but something I’d wear in fall and winter when I just want something fresh and not too heavy. I have a sample and now I want a full bottle.

I have a tester of the “Parfum Spray.” I sprayed my arm twice in the same spot. BIG rose fragrance! Much stronger than I expected from an Aerin perfume. My experience with other Aerin scents has been disappointing for longevity. Surprisingly, this lasted all afternoon and evening. Even this morning the next day it’s a clear skin scent. The rose fragrance is different than most I’ve tried. It’s fresh and pungent and slightly unrealistic. However, it dried into a traditional English powdery rose. Strong scent, pleasant fragrance. Almost a little too strong for me - it was very noticeable for hours. As for cost, I don’t think I’d spend such a large amount of money on a perfume. I’ll use my sample spray and that’s probably it.

A beautiful, light, musky, rose scent. This was my truest rose scent until AERIN released their 'pour filles' version. I get more rose from the 'pour filles' version of this fragrance personally. Although this is an edp it wears like an edt, which makes the more affordable version of this fragrance the smarter option in my opinion. On my clothes this wears about 13 hours though and I can't say the same for the edt. Overall, if you have the room in your budget for a luxurious rose scent this is a lovely choice. However, for those not loyal to the AERIN line like myself there are affordable options that are almost as good for a fraction of the price.

Pretty, delicate, watery rose but on my quest for the "perfect" rose scent I've come across this rendition a few times now - this smells almost identical to MFK L'eau a la Rose (which itself smells like The Body Shop's Atlas Mountain Rose), but also has a blast of green bitterness in the opening that reminds me of Jo Malone's Red Roses. It doesn't last long though, it mostly resembles the former. All of the above somewhat smell like Diptyque's Eau Rose EDT (I haven't tried the EDP) except that one is my clear front runner so far, it smells the most natural IMO. Anyway, this is nice, but surprisingly I'm FAR more taken with the Pour Filles flanker!

I see this as a big bouquet of deep pink roses and a lot of wet green leaves - no amber or musk in this for me. It's not dark or dangerous enough for blood red roses or sweet enough for white but it's still really rosey. Fairly modern and clean in it's execution, as one would expect from this line, but not as wan and watery as Stella. I'm not overly fond of rose perfumes but this gradually won me over especially as it is remarkably persistent. On skin it lasts for a good 12 hours+ and on fabric it seems to be immortal. Good quality ingredients, not very exciting or original but a sophisticated scent for everyday wear.

I first got a sample, and I could smell straight up rose. Very clean. Nothing complex, almost soliflore, competently done. I thought it would be good to layer with white florals. So I got a bottle. Usually longevity is a problem with most Aerin fragrances but not sillage. And the bottle says parfum, not EDP, even if in a spray form. So, it should be fairly strong but is not unfortunately. It may be I got a bad batch. Anyway, from Aerin’s Rose de Grasse line, I like the Pour Filles flanker the best. So pretty, feminine, well-rounded, soft. Joyful bloom is similar to the original parfum.

(Very complicated to be typical) rose scent + @ Big bouquet of light pink roses and few magenta roses Rose water w/ white musk (Is it muskmellow?) Sillage and longivity is enough, but too delicate and faint to be detected. It's changed over time continually. At first -> plain, simple, lush and clean roses for mature women After few hours -> summer evening rose field ( pink roses with stems + white musk or sth. + soil + sunset light + magenta sparkle) Base -> It's grace and pleasant. fruity rose + iris + fragrant wood(Hyang Tree) + some more that I don't know

Really enjoyed this, enough to spend for the overpriced 3.4 FL OZ after several years of considering it. Enjoyed the crisp, slightly grassy edge to the delicate rose note. Unfortunately this beautiful perfume turned into straight alcohol and wood at around the 3 year 8 month mark. This perfume was cared for in a stable temperature area and kept in the box. I have other fragrances in this line, Gardenia Rattan for example, which is over 7 years old and is still quite beautiful.

This one is a sparkly pink rose with a clean musk as the base. It's very similar to Montale's Intense Roses Musk which lasts a bit longer. Intense Roses Musk is more like a dewy natural rose and this one is a slightly more jammy rose. Comparing to Rose De Grasse Joyful Bloom, I like Joyful Bloom the best because it's more fruity and youthful, however, longevity for that one is even worse. Smell: 8 out of 10 Longevity: 6 out of 10 Feminine For reference, I'm female.

I love the AERIN Rose Hand Cream, and this smells just like that. It opens with some grassy tone but disappears immediately which I appreciate. However, the creamy elegant rose (favorite part) survives just as short as the hand cream. Even on fabric it is barely noticeable after 30 min. As much i enjoy the scent, its performance is huge disappointment.

I got a small sample of this in the mail earlier this week. It has a great smell, but it wears off very quickly. On the bright side, you don’t have to worry about overwhelming people around you with it since it stays fairly close to you. I would consider buying this perfume if they either lower the price significantly or increase the longevity.

I received a sample of this last week and was pleasantly surprised. A very elegant, delicate rose scent that perfectly captures the essence of a springtime rose garden in the dewy morning hours. It's really a lovely daytime scent. If it was a bit cheaper or lasted longer/projected better it would be a definite "love" for me.

@lavender_wind Exactly! I agree with every word (also your mention about Killian). First spray without any previous information was: nice, it is like Stella which I own. But this juice is far more expensive and doesn ́t last. I recommend to everybody ho felt in love with Aerin, buy Stella edp.

A very fresh and watery rose with light musk. Soft and close to the skin. There is a hint of citrus present on me. Feels clean and modern, like something Calvin Klein would put out. Overpriced for what it is, though. Too faint and not luxurious enough. A lucky Goodwill find!

This isn't a realistic rose to my nose. I've smelled others from Jo Malone, Dior, Chloe, etc that smell much more like the actual flower. This is a soft rose essence that reminds me of the Nest oil (which I love!), but my less sweet. It feels perfect for spring.

Beautiful rose perfume that has a fresh almost aquatic twist. The scent of rose bushes in the morning covered with fresh dew drops on all its velvety petals. Really nice and natural smelling.

A pretty musky rose. Much muskier and less fresh than I was expecting. I finished the 2 ml sample and have no plans to buy any more samples or bottles.

This is your grandmother's rose perfume, soaps and lotions. On my skin this is more vintage dry rose as opposed to fresh dewy rose.

As soon as I spray on it disappears. Very disappointing. There are other less expensive pretty classic rose out there.

I became infatuated with Rose de Grasse during a scorching summer, I tested it at the department store many times and was obsessed. Looking back I think what drew me to the fragrance is that the opening reminds me of La Perla - La Perla, a really beautiful, natural and warm rose. Unfortunately the opening is very short lived and the dry down stays very close to the skin. There is also an undeniable marine element in it. The fragrance has a synthetic base but it is not as scratchy as many other ambroxan fragrances are. On the whole - meh. Would not spend money on this again.

The opening on this one is like Stella, but in the drydown the resemblance is lost. I'm not a Stella fangirl, but I do remember Stella being more ambery, and Rose de Grasse is a very musk heavy rose. It's pleasant, but there are better fresh roses out there. This actually reminds me a lot of the geranium fragrance from Aerin, Wild Geranium. The rose/geranium note is quite similar, but I like that one better.
