Wild Geranium

I wanted to take the time to review this fragrance since I use it quite a bit. Geranium is one of my favourite perfume notes and, without a doubt, my favourite essential oil. For me, geranium is calming and I usually diffuse geranium eo at night to help with sleep (and, in my case, it also aids with dream recall). This is the next-best-thing to pure geranium oil that I have found (and I certainly have looked in many places). Even though all those notes might seem like they would complicate this fragrance, it really is, to me, straight up Geranium. All the other notes just serve to support the fragrance by either prolonging it or helping it to stand out. While I'd love this alone, I tend to use my little 8mL spritzer of this (I got at Sephora for a reasonable price) for layering - to add my favourite note to any uncomplicated fragrance I like. For this, it works wonders. If you know you like geranium and its scent - especially those of you who are into geranium essential oil (the 100% pure kind), this is a safe blind buy. Otherwise, I have found geranium is a divisive floral among reviewers here and I'd say definitely try before you buy if you're not as familiar with the scent. Silage and Longevity is moderate.

This is a very feminine, pretty, and delicate scent. I think Dianna from Anne of Green Gables would have loved it. On me, I get very little green. It merely blooms very daintily, and keeps blooming for a few hours. I wish it lasted longer because rationing my tiny sample of it. This one will be a full purchase for me soon. I feel dainty and feminine wearing it. Update: I splurged and got a travel size of this last night. I love it already, but I'm still a little hesitant to pay for a full size bottle. Update : Full bottle bought, worn out for the first time. After several hours into wearing it, I did a one wrist refresh. I smelled EXACTLY like St. Germains Elderberry Liqueur. The dry down on me was a little sweeter, and little more musky, but it never crossed over into powdery or cloying. This is a very overtly romantic feminine scent. I had to change clothes because I got dressed, put this on, looked in the mirror and immediately knew it was wrong. I switched to a pair of flower embroidered jeans, a ruffled white cotton shirt, and a peacock blue corduroy puff sleeved jacket with an Edwardian updo.

I got to try this yesterday on paper. It's the definition of pretty. Flower petals, fresh. I'll test it on skin another day and update if I have anything more to say. It seems quite wearable though for about any occasion. Update: Wearing this on skin today, and it smells different than on paper. It started out a bit bitter, herbal, when I sniffed close to skin, a little smoother in the perfume cloud. It's not a bad bitter herbal smell, but that of natural wildflowers you might find in a meadow. The bitterness fades, but it remains slightly herbal (spicy as they describe on fragrantica, but not warm spices like clove or cinnamon). After wearing it, I have mixed feelings about it, but I think it would be a fantastic choice for someone looking for meadow flowers, wildflowers.

This is soooo good! Flowers upon flowers! However, I detect zero geranium notes, but I still love it. It's springtime sunshine and wildflowers in a bottle. I adore peonies and that's the *main* note I pick up. The longevity is great. It reminds me of the first fragrance I fell in love with sooooo many years ago, it was Coach Summer Edition 2012. I've never been able to find anything to replicate it, but I think I have found it! I wish it was more affordable but I'll stick with the purse spray for now until it's gone and I'll get a full size. Perfect for spring and summer although I am wearing it now in the winter lol! *Happydance Update: I did get a full size! Spring love in a bottle.

Wild Geranium is sweet, rosy, lemony, happy and uplifting. It's a little bit floral, with much more soft pink rose than geranium. It has an airy quality wafting around, with a nice, light sillage - nothing offensive, very pleasant. It's fairly well blended, with a pop of rose, a sluice of lemon, and just a hint of something slightly green hovering around in the background. Think butterflies dancing over an English garden on a fresh spring day with pretty young women in white dresses sipping lemonade in the sunshine, and you'll get the picture. Lovely!

I would best describe this as an herbal rose. On me there is a little peony and enough geranium to add interest, but not so much to turn geranium haters away from the fragrance. It's very well balanced, and it has a little better projection than the average Aerin scent. If you like rose peony scents, but don't mind an herbal edge, this could be for you.

Beautiful, light, bright and fresh with just the right amount of sweetness. It makes me think of happy, carefree days. I get more rose/peony than geranium, and although there seems to be a lot going on it's all seamlessly blended in the most delightful way. This is one of my treasures. 10/10.

Initially this smells similarly to Holy Peony or Lust in Paradise, it then fades to a soft peony/ rose scent. I wish the initial spray lasted longer. Not my favorite from the collection.

Not the great geranium bomb I'm always looking for. All those big geranium plants taking over your yard, with pretty red and pink flowers and the aromatic leaves you rub your fingers on; they're not there. All that geranium they put into men's scents in the 1950's and maybe afterwards and didn't tell anyone about. And it is absolutely not a duplicate of the gold standard, Lanvin's Spanish Geranium. Someone needs to bring that back, now that the 50+ year old bottles of that stuff are finally going bad. (The sprays were all aerosols and there aren't many bath oils still around; the powder is still good but we're not supposed to wear it. The soap is heaven but now at ghastly prices.) There's really nothing wrong with Aerin's Wild Geranium though, if you're not expecting geranium. It's a good if light floral scent. Lots of good rose and peony scent there, and I'll try to remember to wear it next summer on a warm day. I bought a mini bottle, but it's probably worth buying a regular size. It needs to be sprayed for full effect, and this little dab on bottle isn't getting it. Nearly a month later, reviewing this I see I failed to mention Floris Geranium. Like every other perfume seller who is trying to appear hip or current or whatever, Floris doesn't do much anymore with their fabulous rose geranium scent, which actually does smell more of geranium than rose. Decades ago, they actually made an edt spray, but I think the only thing liquid they have out is a mouthwash, is you can believe. Who gargles with geranium? But the Floris Rose Geranium soap is well worth your time, if you're craving geranium, and it's still around.

I got a sample of this in my, Estee Lauder order of Radiant Mirage, and Tender Light. Wild Geranium is not a geranium perfume, not even close to one. This is straight up peony w/ a bit of rose and white florals in the background. Not bad but unfortunately it has ambroxan and it is giving me a slight headache as I am smelling it. I really wish perfumers would switch to white musk in dry downs if they want to use a synthetic note that adds warmth. I dislike ambroxan and cashmeran so much and they seem to be everywhere in fragrance today. Real ambergris would have made this perfume outstanding but I'm sure the cost and availability is an issue. If they used a white musk w/ a slight hand I'm sure the musk wouldn't have taken over the composition of the fragrance. This fragrance also has a green character to it mingled in w/ the pink peony and white florals. It is a pretty fresh pink floral, but I do not think it is worth the asking price. I would like to sample more Aerin Lauders in the future but another problem I have w/ the brand is the lack of test kits for their mid-range fragrances and their premium line. So, I can only give this an ok rating because it is not geranium like advertised and it has ambroxan in the dry down. If you want a pretty peony fragrance that is fresh and slightly green this is a good way to go if you don't mind spending the money.

Even though I am 19, I would actually wear this despite it being a tad bit more mature. It is sophisticated, clean, feminine, timeless. For some ODD reason when I envision the wearer of this scent, I envision a beautiful, young mother who is extremely elegant and refined, wearing a clean, button-down white shirt. She's on vacation and is eating dinner with her family at a restaurant in the sand and you can hear the ocean waves crashing against the shore. As her children hug her, they feel her soft, warm embrace and smell this beautiful perfume and are overjoyed to have a mother like her. I don't usually don't brainstorm such specific imagery when I smell scents, but this EXACT scenario and vibe came to my head. It could be perhaps because it reminds me of my own mother (who actually is not young, lol, but whose spirit is so young, and who is refined, and elegant, and loving) :) <3

I got a travel sized of this on a whim, it’s a beautiful bright scent perfect for floral lovers. Very spring/summery. Nothing revolutionary, although the pepper and citrus notes make it interesting. The opening notes are great, but it practically disappeared on the dry down for me. I don’t mind reapplying, but there’s almost no hint of fragrance within an hour on my skin. Both the full size and travel size bottles are beautiful too, but I wouldn’t purchase this particular fragrance again.

It's certainly a sweet, white wine forward fragrance. It must be the tuberose giving off that heady grape buzz. I also get a strong hit of lemon and geranium, that are very well blended. Sometimes I'm in the mood for this, other times it's a bit too perfumy and traditional.

I think this is lovely. Refreshing zesty lemon, then fresh flowers. It’s sparkling, and there is no note that throws me off. I think it’s well formulated. Update: 08/04/2023. In the middle of summer, and it is so so nice. I love it.

Perfect Happy spring flowers. Smells like Easter time. I smell lots of peony and geranium. First note I smell is geranium then the rose comes in as a background then the rest of the dry down is mainly peony and musk.

Wild Geranium is beautiful! Sweet, lemony rose and geranium, peony is here too, but not a boring rose/peony perfume. Smells so fresh, classy, sweet, juicy, and happy. So sunny. Surprised by how much I like this one.

This smells so good! There's no jasmine in the notes but it smells like jasminum sambac to my nose. It's clean, refreshing and uplifting but damn it's so expensive.

Sometimes I'm surprised by how things range in terms of performance depending on the person, I didn't have great longevity from this one, but I enjoyed it thoroughly for a few hours. It's a very crisp rose/peony and geranium. It's wonderfully clean and romantic, with practically no sweetness at all. Some of it smelled slightly green in the opening before it settled, and I don't know what it is beside the geranium itself, which is always a sort of green flower to my nose (I have geranium essential oil). Benzoin though? Really? No...not even a little (maybe others smell it, I don't even get a trace). I don't even want the benzoin honestly, this remains crisp (I'll keep using that word, it's what it is), but benzoin is totally NOT crisp and it would render this a heavier fragrance, which it doesn't need to be. I love it as it is. Benzoin instantly winterizes (or at least autumnizes) frags, but this remains decidedly spring. It's a decent offering from Aerin.

If you’re wanting a geranium centric smell, look elsewhere, it is not as the name suggests. Whilst a pleasant, zesty, light peony scent, at this price point and my expectation of a strong geranium note I was left underwhelmed.

Alright, full disclaimer - I bought blind, and I didn't realize this contained ambroxan which gives me terrible headaches. All the same, this perfume doesn't particularly give me 'geranium'. A closer resemblance on dry-down but still not nearly the floral, sweet scent I expect from geranium scented perfumes. It's also quite peppery on me unfortunately, which is not the ideal smell for a perfume claiming to be anywhere in the ballpark of 'wild geranium'. I might have called this 'spicy rosebush' to be more accurate. Not a bad smell, but certainly not what i thought I was paying for.
