Aurner

I like it. It leans into a damp, botanical lushness that feels like walking into a greenhouse under bloom, highligthing the earthy-green aspects of the leaves and foliage just as much as the flowers themselves. There's soil, sap, deep woody aromas, fleshy petals, green stems. It feels on-trend for them but certainly something a bit more approachable. I find the drydown a little too familiar within the realm of incensed cedary things, but that's me being really analytical about it, and I think I'd really enjoying wearing it. I pick out the geranium influence a good deal and to me it brings this into the realm of classic men's perfumes- a little rosy, minty, and a bit spicy. Maybe something from Acqua di Parma honestly- even Fougere Royale has chamomile and geranium notes when I think about it! Anyways, after going back to the Aesop store once more I find this essentially a resinous magnolia that leans into damp, woody themes pretty heavily. It reminds me of the deep earthiness you can get with some types of patchouli or oakmoss. Dark, fleshy, close to the soil. I've never smelled cypriol but I feel like it's had this impression on me before in other things. On paper it has more of a humid floral greenhouse effect, while on skin the cedar comes forward more alongside the sweeter, resinous aromas with more sandalwood towards the end. The top does feel a bit sharp in a soapy way, but I don't see it as a negative- that's just the magnolia doing it's thing and it smells quite natural. Overall hard to say how I feel about it because I do enjoy the aroma, but it's not as adventurous as Ouranon or Gloam after the first two hours or so. After more time with some samples I think it's decent but not outstanding enough to purchase.

It is a bright, clear, and comfortable fragrance that is sure to bring a pure smile to your face. I think that Aesop marketed a good scent that is well-liked in the city. Aurner has a dainty element, which is rare in Aesop's current perfumes, but it also has the herbal and botanical aspects that are typical of Aesop's fragrances in its bones. This perfume, which is slightly bitter but within the range of popular favorites, is pleasant to the extreme, and considering the purpose and background of its creation, though It may not be acceptable to the picky artists with noble noses, I think it is more than acceptable one. It is definitely high quality and long lasting and pleasant fragrance that lasts much longer than previous Aesop perfumes. I feel that this is similar to their initial intention when they created Marrakech, which was to create a perfume that would function as a steady perfume, rather than a perfume that would disappear in less than an hour due to the pursuit of naturalness.

2 weeks later: I absolutely love this fragrance. It's just... amazing. The first 30min-1hr of this is still the best thing I've smelt in my life. Even when it naturally progresses through the day, it still smells great and I love getting the occasional whiff of it as I go through my day (I spray it on my chest) I personally think it can be worn for any season, time, and occasion - while also lasting a long time - and this is a HUGE score in my books. I'd say this lasts about 7-8 hours on my skin; eternal on clothing you will smell it on a shirt the next day. I was a bit skeptical of Aesop at first, but when I tried this on paper in the store I knew this was the one out of their collection that I had to have. I have not been let down and I would 100% re-purchase this.

This is the signature scent of Aesop to me personally. I think it's because I've had it sprayed on my bag almost every time I've been there, but I absolutely adore it. It encapsulates the scent and aesthetic of the brand so well, without leaning too far to one direction. It's not too spice heavy, it's also not insanely woody, and it's floral and a touch sweet, but not in the way you'd expect. I've had samples of many Aesop releases, and have tried every fragrance, and this is the one I just keep coming back to. It makes me feel so luxurious and warm, yet fresh and alluring when I wear it. It really is a one of a kind to me, not for the actual scent profile, but for what it evokes.

I really enjoy this. When I first sprayed this, it smelled pretty bright and sharp due to the citrus and pepper notes. However, as this settles down, it smells more green with the floral notes, with a hint of spicy cardamon. Slowly but surely, it is more warm, spicy, and woody. The woodiness of the base note and the earthy cardamom shines through at the end. It's not overly masculine, it's more like a warm hug. It felt like I am having a cosy walk during autumn in the wood. The air is so fresh and the smell of nature is so comforting. Of course, the cardamom smell makes it more autumn-y. Oops I accidentally clicked on spring. Nope, definitely autumn for me.

I am in love with this fragrance. With some perfumes, it's a dance, and it takes time to warm up to them. With Aurner, it was love at first sniff. The dry down makes it even better, at least on my skin. To me, it is the perfect mixture of a comforting scent that also makes me feel chic and put together. I don't have an enormous collection (and many are travel sized), but out of 19 different perfumes, this has the #1 spot. Fresh and creamy are two words that come to mind. Not your typical floral. It melds with your skin to become the smoothest, most agreeable and attractive scent. It's the perfume equivalent of a cashmere sweater. Heavenly!

The way this opens is perfect - probably my favorite opener to any fragrance I've tried. If you love anything citrus, the opening will have your eyes rolling to the back of your head. However, that beautiful opener is very short-lived, then it quickly turns into a woody scent. Normally I'm not a huge fan of woody scents (Tam Dao EDP is great though) but once Aurner assumes the role of Woody, it's actually quite nice. Not quite as fresh as Tam Dao and also not as great as the first 20-30 minutes of the initial spray. Still a worthwhile pick-up if you can dig either side.

I've only smelled this on the aesop bag that the worker sprayed at checkout, so it might be different on skin or paper. but this smells so good, it's giving grandma in the best way possible (and i usually like "old lady" scents anyway). she's cozy, floral, herbal, powdery. there's a bit of that spicyness that's subtle but i just can't stop sniffing it. i would say aurner is a "safer", crowd pleasing scent among all aesop fragrances, but idc, it's still very aesop (iykwim) and it instantly boosted my mood.

this is the definition of a everyday wear fragrance, an all year around fragrance, its just so versatile. i honestly love this fragrance, Especially because it has that chamomile note which is quite pleasant—and it’s actually nicely powdery and suits me well (I’m a man)—but it’s just too expensive. If you really love chamomile notes, then consider it, but think about the price and what else you could get for the money.

Loved it at first sniff - an easy to like fragrance. But after about two hours the sparkly top notes have disappeared from my skin and turned into a cozy close to the skin scent. I really remind me of The Noir by Le Labo or maybe of the Le Labo brand as a whole. I also think I smells like Diptyque a bit but can't yet pin point which scent. All in all I really enjoy this and applause to Celine Barrel for this creation.

This is so so good. It smells like a bunch of tropical flowers steeped in iced black tea with a splash of milk. So smooth and refreshing, but not in a typical bright citrus way. Super relaxing and comforting. A highlight from the past few years of fragrance sampling. The big issue is Aesop’s pricing. It’s only available in a 50ml size, at £140. That’s significantly more than Le Labo and many fancier luxury brands. :(

I really like this one. Normally I gravitate towards photorealistic florals, but this is warm, unique, and quite long lasting - I spray at 7:30 am at it will last me until 5-6pm. It does feel quite female leaning, but very very unisex. I find the chamomile stands out the most and is the first thing I smell, but it smells very comforting to me.This is my first Aesop fragrance but I might try Eidesis or Virere next!

I went in to aesop broke AF today and the worker gave me a hand massage and hella samples and a free book and one of the samples was this perfume. i am not a floral person but the way the floral mixes with the wood scent is so nice i literally cannot stop smelling my wrist. it reminds me a little of glossier you doux because of this, but with that more significant floral/perfume scent.

this is quite simply one of the best perfumes i’ve discovered as of late. i bought a full bottle immediately after finishing my sample. aurner has to be the most gorgeous lightly spiced floral fragrance i’ve tried. it’s a bit green and so comforting/cozy. truly blown away. i could myself wearing this in any season but i think it will be particularly beautiful in the spring and fall

This is so good, and I want more men to try it. The reviewers say it leans feminine, but men can definitely wear florals! As somebody who doesn't move toward citruses, this is a great fresh fragrance. To me it feels aquatic but NOT oceanic. I'd compare it to Dragonfly by Zoologist but more wearable and pleasant. Calming and spa-like.

A nice floral spicy fragrance. I mainly get magnolia, cardamom, and cedar from this. Definitely better in the spring/fall, the magnolia can get stinky in the heat. My Muslim friend said it smelled like a mosque to him, so if you’re into that then this will do it.

Nice citrusy openings, a hearty floral with Magnolia (reminiscent to Mojave Ghost from Byredo) but with Cardamom to round it up in the classic Aesop style, as seen in their perfumes like Marrakesh Intense or Gloam. Great longevity which is refreshing.

With these combination of notes, it smells like a clean black tea, with geranium and with a small touch of citruses. If you smelled ther geranium leaf soap/lotion, it smells like that but if they added a black tea note

tried this on at an aesop location in manhattan as recommended, layered over the geranium leaf body scrub & balm. wonderful complement, although i wish it wasn't $200.

A real standout from the line. The cardamom-pink pepper blend always reads like a rose to me. Everything else plays support.

The blend of floral and sandalwood is just amazing, such a unique scent profile 10/10.

Finally i got you🥰😍🤩😘. Another aromatic unique clean scent.

This is a fresh and bright fragrance, you'll mainly get the citrus and magnolia, the spices and woods are there but are very subtle. In all honesty this is something Le Labo would release, I already said the same thing about Le Labo's new release smelling like an Aesop fragrance. I think it's a good thing that these brands are going out of their scope of expertise and I think both did a good job. I really enjoyed this fragrance, the magnolia is the true star here so pretty and balances perfectly with everything here. Definitely my favorite from Aesop. Scent: 8/10 Performance: 6/10 Price: 7/10 Overall: 7/10

effervescent pink peppercorn over a cup of chamomile tea. aurner begins as a blast of citrus à la wulong cha or even elizabeth arden green tea before the citrus/petitgrain and pink peppercorn coalesce, then settle into a chamomile so deep that it almost smells like a floral kombucha. after an hour on my skin, the lovely floral tea note dissolves into softly-spiced sandalwood. i'm in love with the initial blast of aromatic pepper and citrus—i just wish that aspect of the fragrance lasted a little bit longer before returning to aesop's woody terra firma.

Aurner is a quiet enigma—so unlike its siblings, a departure from Aesop’s usual herbal austerity. It is magnolia, not in bloom but in texture, the waxen green of its leaves carrying a soft, frothy sheen. Chamomile pools beneath it, golden and tranquil, the scent of warm hands cupping fragile petals, a whisper of apigenin’s honeyed calm. Pepper crackles, a fleeting static, lending its bite to the silk of magnolia’s soapy embrace. It is a paradox—serene yet sharp, luminous yet shadowed. Unexpectedly, beautifully good.

I was looking for a chypre with pink peppercorn ever since the original Bottega Veneta (not Knot) was discontinued. That was very classy and clean and I always received compliments - which despite what today’s influencers say is actually rare to receive. Aurner captures some of that though it has less ‘clarity’ or greenness than the BV. Aurner also reminds me a lot of Diptyque Eau Capitale - even if the notes are described totally differently

truly aromatic - bursts of pink pepper and cardamom on the initial spray. almost chanel mademoiselle in the heart with the floral bursts of geranium. the base settles to a creamy woody sandalwood - this is where the aēsop DNA comes through in all its glory. commercial in tone but ultimately still niche.

love the opening but the drydown is so boring. anyone know any other perfumes that hold those opening notes after a few hours?? obvs citrus doesn't last long but... help a gal out

Reminds me of Tobacco Mandarin by Byredo.

Artificial smell; would not purchase

Beautiful, well blended fragrance. I'm impressed that cardamom is in the open and base, but doesn't come across as spicy or autumnal. The florals aren't too sweet or overwhelming, but this is why I'm shocked that I got olfactory fatigue after 2 hours of wear. The longer I wore it, the more it cloyed. Perhaps it's the way my senses respond to certain aroma chemicals that Aesop uses? I tried another fragrance that I enjoyed and that one turned cloying, as well, so that's why I think it could be an aroma chemical issue distinct to my nose. If not for the cloy, Aurner would be a home run for me. As an aside, the drydown reminds me a bit of MFK A La Rose.

The new Aesop Aurner is my fragrance from Aesop so far. Usually I find Aesop fragrances to be too short-lived and subtle to bother with but Aurner packs a punch. It’s a metallic dominant saffron with soft rose, white musk, that’s slightly peppery and an acidic green citric tang. It manages to be sharp but soft at the same time as there’s soapy undertones towards the dry-down. It reminds me of Arabian Oud’s Majestic as Aurner has the same clinical/metallic Oud and saffron with rose combo. It’s nice but I’m not moved to buy it - ultimately the sharp and unrelenting saffron becomes a dealbreaker.

Dark, foresty, dry, woody, bitter, slightly tannic and almost wine like, with some pillowy florals to offset the harshness. Similar to The Noir 29 but with the greenness toned down and with more florals. A bit more powdery and softer overall, not as unique in the drydown. Smells nice but derivative, and I'd much rather go with The Noir 29.

I got the change to have a sniff and to get a sample. Sprayed on paper the opening is very nice. But on my skin....... too much flowers! I don't see this as a men perfume. Which is OK. The projection and the longevity are improved since the last releases! Thank you L'Oréal?

Paper sample: it's a pretty basic powdery white floral and slightly green scent, very magnolia dominant. It's just basic and nice, but it's quite powdery... Even the clerk running the lil shelf warned me it was going to be very powdery before he sprayed it lol

I was disappointed by this one. I am used to Aesop’s florals being unique and unconventional. But this one was just so strongly magnolia and just kept being magnolia. I didn’t get magnolia leaf. I just got straight floral.

I would agree that this is a tea-like floral. The citrus is fleeting, almost entirely gone after the first 10 mins. I would categorize this as a savory geranium & sandalwood forward scent.

Aurner is a green, woody floral – a style well within Aesop’s repertoire (see the wonderful Rozu). Yet, alas, this is the very essence of disappointment. The composition is uninspired and thin, failing to develop into anything worthwhile throughout its lifecycle. A veil of ennui descends at first spray, only to dissolve into indifference; soon, one is left wondering why one bothered at all. While the notes hint at depth, the execution is disappointingly flat, with a synthetic sharpness that lingers, ultimately making one regret having sprayed it. Where Aesop once embraced unconventional compositions, this is engineered for mass appeal: lacking any sense of depth or distinction. Alas it fails to achieve even mass-appeal either... Sadly, Aesop’s perfumery under L’Oréal has thus far been disappointing – both new releases (this and Virere) smell synthetic, cheap, and uninspired. A house that once felt esoteric and intentional now seems to be losing its soul.

Imagine walking into a department store and smelling 100 different fragrances violating your nose. This is what I would describe the scent to be all packed into one bottle. Or, those 2000’s magazine’s that had the little perfume sample you would peel back. Not my cup of tea

very clean, with an almost fizzy laundry detergent aspect. the citrus stays remarkably present. it's a clean, tea-like floral. the geranium hits the back of your throat a little.

Aesop is officially a bygone era... This smells so cheap and mass-appealing... very generic and ordinary. The Aesop DNA is completely lost. Who cares if it lasts when it smells so mediocre? I once adored how Aesop treated florals, especially with Rozu, Gloam, Marrakech, and iconic creations like their Neroli Shaving Serum, Rose By Any Other Name, and the room spray trio. Now, this new launch just smells like some cheap designer frag. No surprise if their newly acquired clientele love it, but the truly unorthodox Aesop that I used to know is gone for good....

The smell reminds me of Lazy Sunday Morning. It's that aldehyde-y sparkling balmy floral scent. The only part that bears some resemblance to the Aesop DNA is in the beginning with the inclusion of roman chamomile. Now, I actually can pick out the scent from many of Aesop's skincare products. Both Virere and Aurner are clearly meant to target a wide audience. Unfortunately, when you have grown so fast and is now under a beauty giant, that specific group of customers who, as oyiss below mentioned, "want alternatives to designer-style products" can no longer support the growth of the brand and the livelihood of the staff. As an employee, we also mourn the transition to more mainstream practices and styles. It's so strange because before Virere came about, many customers(including ourselves) lamented the fact that each new perfume smelt of spices/woods which are clearly not for everyone. We slowly got discouraged by customer opinions because many of them wouldn't spend time to understand the artistry, and they simply wanted a perfume to smell good. FYI, Karst and Eidesis sold the best among the Othertopias collection. Coincidentally, both smelled the most familiar to many customers. Something's gotta give I guess.

I’ve historically liked Aesop fragrances but their more recent releases are more generic, designer-ish, and quite uninspired. Unfortunately this release is no different, any designer brand could’ve released this fragrance. The distinctive Aesop DNA has been lost ever since they were bought by L’Oréal a few years ago; as such it seems as though the artistic direction has been lost as well. This fragrance doesn’t smell ‘bad’, it’s just not Aesop. This brand has always been known for their bohemian, natural-style fragrances - these new releases are just doing what everyone else is doing to get easy sales. Instead of locking in on a built-in fan base of Aesop-style products, the brand is now trying to capture designer cosmetic shoppers. Does Aesop management not realise that their customers are shopping at Aesop in the first place because they want alternatives to designer-style products? If this continues Aesop will continue to diminish their distinctive identity, the niche which made them so popular to begin with.

if the creative prompt behind this fragrance was to just make something that smells "generically aesop," i would believe you. that's not to say i don't like it, on the contrary i am a huge aesop fan, but there's nothing that really sells this to me as a unique addition to their existing fragrance line. i have to thank celine barel for her notable omission of the accursed cumin note in so many aesop fragrances (looking at u barnabe....). as much as i understand the comparisons to the noir 29, this is far more pleasant (less screeching and headache inducing, more calm, grounded), but ultimately nothing terribly interesting

Opens very very similar to le labos’ ylang but with a little added soil. As it dries down some more flowers, (rose, tuberose) appear, and the composition becomes more powdery. Feels like an aesopian take on a “grandma” fragrance (in the best way possible) . It also smells incredibly similar to a candle called “rose noire” from l’objet that we used to burn daily at my old job. Classic, floral, grounded Aesop twist. And the performance is miles ahead of most of aesops line, I think they have really been responding to criticism about that with their two latest releases.

Fresh, warm, tea-like, woodsy, and a quintessentially Aesop scent. It reminds me of Eidesis but has a much prettier floral lift. This is now my 4th fragrance from the brand, so clearly I enjoy their approach and DNA. Does it feel like some redundancy exists within their offerings? Yes, but it still hits every time for me.

Very intense, artificial, woody-amber scent. The middle has the toner feeling of a typical men's cologne... I don't get the usual floral feeling from this scent, but the reviews are very interesting. For one thing, the magnolia leaves have a fresh green scent, like apple...

Very beautiful wood and magnolia scent. Came off as wood dominant to me, didnt really get the powdery but even if I did that wouldn't be a detriment to the fragrance. Just overall very beautiful and most of the notes come through nicely. Good day to day scent

the sharpness from the pink pepper and citrus is almost overwhelming, to the point where i am unable to pick up on most of the other notes. i think this fragrance would work better as a room/linen spray, as opposed to something worn close to the skin.
